Uiagalelei made a strong case to become the Chargers' backup quarterback over incumbent Trey Lance in the preseason finale. He completed 11 of 18 passes for 141 yards with nice, quick reads, while Lance looked rushed on most snaps and didn't connect on his two throws. The source notes there hasn't been much separation between the two throughout training camp, but Uiagalelei was clearly better on Thursday, despite losing a fumble on a strip-sack that sealed the loss.
