The Giants have released quarterback Brandon Allen, Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports. It seems likely the team also will release the recently signed Jake Haener, leaving them with only Jaxson Dart and Jameis Winston at the position on the 53-player roster. That would make Allen a candidate for the practice squad.

The Giants released Brandon Allen, leaving the team with only Jaxson Dart and Jameis Winston at quarterback on the 53-player roster. Allen, 34, had spent five of the past six seasons with Giants quarterbacks coach Brian Callahan and backed up Cam Ward with the Titans last season. He is now a candidate for the practice squad.
