Dane Key waived by Broncos despite preseason performance and scheme fit.

Waived by the Denver Broncos after arriving as an undrafted rookie free agent from Nebraska. Despite making a few good plays in preseason and fitting Head Coach Sean Payton's archetype at wide receiver—with size, length, toughness, and contested-catch ability—Key was cut from the roster. His outside-inside flexibility (35% of career snaps from slot) aligns with Payton's stated positional values, similar to recent draft picks Pat Bryant and Devaughn Vele, but was insufficient to secure a roster spot.
