Welch returns to Saints practice squad as blocking TE with receiving upside.

Treyton Welch, a rookie tight end out of the University of Wyoming, was waived from the Saints' initial 53-man roster and brought back to the practice squad. The 6'4" Minnesota native completed the 2026 preseason with four receptions and 25 receiving yards. Welch is used primarily as a blocking tight end but possesses height and athleticism to attack smaller defenders. With the Saints carrying just two tight ends on the active roster and injury concerns throughout the offseason, Welch represents a potential depth option who could see playing time if injuries occur.
