Treyton Welch, a 6'4" rookie tight end from the University of Wyoming and Minnesota native, was waived from the Saints' initial 53-man roster but brought back to the practice squad after clearing waivers. He completed the 2026 preseason with four receptions and 25 receiving yards, and is used primarily as a blocking tight end but possesses height and athleticism to attack smaller defenders. With the Saints carrying two tight ends on the active roster and persistent injury issues throughout the offseason, Welch has a plausible path to see playing time this season.
