Cole Kmet is expected to be the catalyst for the Bears offense early in the season, having worked with Caleb Williams throughout the entire offseason and positioned as the focal point of early-season play-calling. The matchup against Carolina's cover-three defense (second in NFL cover-three rate last year, third in 2024) provides a significant advantage, as tight ends league-wide get a target bump against cover three. Kmet averaged 2.5 yards per route run against cover three last year with just under 30% target per route rate. Rome Odome's calf injury and nicked-up status further supports Kmet having a healthy target share early on.
