Goff was hit by Saints defensive end Chase Young while winding up to throw in the first half of Detroit's 31-30 OT win over New Orleans; the resulting backward pass was initially ruled a fumble recovery and touchdown for the Saints but was overturned on replay review due to NFL rules determining that because Goff had already begun his throwing motion before contact, the backward pass was ruled a forward pass and therefore an incomplete pass rather than a turnover.
