Yahoo Fantasy Football on James Cook
From the article
Cook only had 13 carries in the victory after averaging a league-leading 18.3 in 2025. His target share did at least climb from 8% to 13% in this small sample to even things out, but 8.4 half PPR points on 11.4 expected isn't the greatest start for a Round 1 pick.
STACKED’s take
Cook's carries dropped to 13 from 18.3 average; pass-game shift threatens Round 1 value.
Cook is projected for 100.5 total yards in Week 2 vs. Detroit. The Bills offense appeared to shift away from Cook and toward the pass game in Week 1. Buffalo had a 48% neutral pass rate last year and a 56% neutral pass rate in Week 1 despite facing the Texans' DBs and EDGEs. Cook only had 13 carries in the victory after averaging a league-leading 18.3 in 2025. Josh Allen had a Tush Push TD and went Wildcat on fourth-and-1, and Cook fumbled in open space. His target share did climb from 8% to 13% to offset some decline, but he posted 8.4 half-PPR points on 11.4 expected—not a great start for a Round 1 pick. The matchup is decent in Week 2; the Bills are projected for the most points while hosting the Lions, who went to OT against the Saints because their secondary couldn't stop anyone. Detroit is better against the run, but explosives through the air increase the odds of a red-zone TD for Cook.
