Etienne received only 45% of rush attempts in Week 1 against Detroit despite Alvin Kamara's absence, a concerning split for a lead-back role. Kendre Miller earned goal-line work and the rushing touchdown, while Etienne accumulated 7 catches for 9 targets for 32 yards (10+ PPR points from receptions alone). Mike Mcdaniel flags this as problematic given the opportunity to dominate carries without Kamara. Etienne was drafted as a high-end running back alongside Javante Williams and DeAndre Swift through much of the offseason, but his Week 1 usage pattern and Kamara's expected return suggest major downgrade reservations if Week 1 usage trends continue.
