Manning's trade from San Diego proved transformational, yielding two Super Bowl titles.

Eli Manning was acquired by the Giants in a 2004 trade with the San Diego Chargers (who had drafted him No. 1 overall) in exchange for Philip Rivers. Manning led the Giants to two Super Bowl titles during the 2007 and 2011 seasons, while Rivers never won a Super Bowl in his 18-year NFL career. Accorsi had followed Manning since his time at Ole Miss and was convinced he was the franchise quarterback the Giants needed.
