Patrick Mahomes fantasy football insight from Hayden Winks - PPR Rankings
Patrick MahomesQB
Patrick Mahomes (QB, KC) is #103 overall in Hayden Winks' 2026 Half-PPR rankings vs. Underdog ADP 92.8 with a 280.6-point projection. Verdict: Mahomes' injury and KC's new RB are reasons to expect slightly less in fantasy. Mahomes is coming back from a torn ACL in December, but he appears to be on pace for a Week 1 return. It's just unlikely he's moving quite as well, and it's possible the Chiefs tinker with the offensive philosophy while he's less than 100% and while they have a dynamic RB (Kenneth Walker) for the first time in his career. In general, Mahomes is likely to come under his career per-game average of 21 YPG on the ground, and remember he ran way more last year (30 YPG) because of his poor weaponry. The Chiefs 2026 offense should be more under center, more downhill, and less condensed. That could help Mahomes feel relieved from putting the entire team on his back, and it should help get their players in simpler roles. Hopefully Rashee Rice is still explosive on his underneath routes after rehabbing in jail, as the offense can't count on Travis Kelce turning back the clock after another dip in his explosiveness on tape last year. Xavier Worthy is just as big of a wildcard after they stripped down his involvement while playing on a bad ankle and bummed shoulder. In theory, there's more to his game than we've seen, but the results have been average to date. The worry is this is a transitional year for the unit and Mahomes won't have the dynamic scrambling ability that's kept him on the QB1 radar despite the WR room tanking after the Tyreek Hill days. At the same time, moving on from OC Matt Nagy and returning OC Eric Bieniemy can only be viewed as a positive. Mahomes averaged 303 YPG and a 6.5% TD rate in 5 seasons with Bieniemy (and Tyreek). Those have dropped to 254 and 4.5% si...
