Pierce's absence makes it difficult for Colts to match up with Mahomes

Alec Pierce's absence significantly impacts the Colts' offensive capability against elite defenses. The Chiefs specifically rolled coverage toward Pierce in their Ring coverage scheme (a 2-man variant with Cover 6 shell), using him as a focal point of their defensive game plan. Without Pierce, it's very difficult for the Colts to go blow-for-blow with Mahomes and the Chiefs' offense, especially when the Colts' defense is playing poorly.
