Metcalf will be the X receiver in the Steelers' 11-personnel heavy offense, running more vertical routes that don't align as well with Aaron Rodgers' current preference for quick-hitting throws.

It's going to be DK Metcalf at X. I think Jalen Bernard, their rookie, I don't mind a little bit this year too as a late round flyer. I think he's primarily going to be the Z slot, leaning more into the slot, which means that Michael Pittman will also rotate between Z and slot and run some of these quick hitting routes, which he's still very capable of doing. A zone beater, quick throws, that lines up with where Aaron Rodgers is at this point in his career much more than some of the vertical X receiver routes that you would imagine with DK Metcalf.
