Smith blamed for not resetting protection on final-play strip sack.

Geno Smith shares appreciable blame for the final-play strip sack loss to the Lions in Week 3. The source indicates Smith and center Josh Myers should have reset the protection scheme, which was suboptimal given the Lions' defensive alignment; the source suspects Smith and Myers either misread which Lions linebacker (Jack Campbell vs. Derrick Barnes) was the primary blitzer or failed to communicate a better protection call that would have had Myers slide to the A-gap linebacker instead of asking running back Braelon Allen to cross the formation.
