Luke McCaffrey now has an opportunity to step up for Washington following Jaylin Lane's ankle fracture and dislocation that will sideline him for the remainder of 2026. McCaffrey, a third-round pick from 2024 who has appeared in just one game and drawn zero targets, has been a healthy scratch in three games. However, his near-perfect fit to replace Lane's role in the receiver room and return game gives the Commanders a clear in-house option.
