It's been a pretty quiet training camp for Addison, which continued through both joint practices; he really hasn't been targeted much in full team drills and hasn't had any really noteworthy catches. He did have a couple targets by Kyler Murray in joint practices, including a bomb today, but neither were completed. He did have a nice grab in redzone position drills. Murray appears more focused on developing a rapport with Jefferson at the moment, but hopefully he will be able to focus on Addison later before the season starts.

Jordan Addison's contract extension is under consideration by the Vikings; Zay Flowers' $140M deal and Chris Olave's $124M deal raise market expectations, but Addison's lower target/reception volume and benefit from Justin Jefferson drawing defensive attention suggest he may not command WR1 money. Addison could be worth Devonta Smith money (9.79% of cap = $29M AAV in 2026, or $32M AAV if extended in 2027), but the Vikings must decide whether to tie up significant cap on both top receivers.

Vikings have picked up Addison's fifth-year option and are expected to pursue a long-term extension; Zay Flowers' just-signed four-year, $140M extension with $108M guaranteed sets a market floor for Addison's deal, as both were back-to-back 2023 draft picks (#22 Flowers, #23 Addison). Addison has 175 receptions and 2,396 yards to Flowers' 237 receptions and 3,128 yards, but leads in touchdowns (22 to 14); Addison's production is suppressed by competing with Justin Jefferson for targets as the Vikings' clear #2 receiver. Given Flowers' contract, Addison's extension is unlikely to come in below $140M over four years, potentially forcing the Vikings to pay two receivers 'Justin Jefferson money' alongside Jefferson himself.
