Gino Smith has been good relative to expectations and is willing to throw it deep; he drew a couple of penalties giving receivers chances, and his arm doesn't appear cooked as there was concern about entering the season. He's playing well enough that the Jets offense can develop and receivers can grow more comfortable.NegativeProjectionSep 16, 2026
Smith played well in Week 1, though the speaker humorously deflects on detailed commentary about his performance, noting that there is active discussion and enthusiasm about his play among analysts.NegativeRoleAug 27, 2026
Mina Kimes and Robert Mays note that Geno Smith remains the quarterback for the Seahawks, but express concern regarding the team's offensive infrastructure and the reliance on shotgun seven-step drops.PositiveProjectionAug 25, 2026

Geno Smith was 8th in on-target rate last year and ranked high in accuracy on throws over 10 yards and even under pressure, suggesting his arm talent remains intact despite poor overall statistics.PositiveProjectionJul 8, 2026
With the Jets, Geno Smith has better circumstances with Frank Reich as offensive coordinator, an improved offensive line, and better skill position players, positioning him to be in the 15-20 QB range rather than 25-32.PositiveProjectionJul 8, 2026
Geno Smith was 30th in EPA per drop back last year with the Raiders, but the analyst believes his poor play was driven more by circumstances (Chip Kelly's offense, weak offensive line) than a fundamental decline in his ability.
