PositiveRoleOct 8, 2026
Travis Hunter was traded to the Jaguars fresh off a bottoming out and is performing as an all-pro caliber corner; he represents a key defensive piece that the Jaguars acquired to strengthen their defense. The source notes the team is exploring different combinations with him, Jarrion Jones, and Montero Brown to determine optimal deployment, and he functions almost like a rookie in terms of being a new piece to the team's defensive puzzle.PositiveRoleOct 5, 2026
The source highlights Travis Hunter's interception in the Jaguars-Bengals game as an impressive defensive play, noting he 'jukes T Higgins out of his shoes' after the catch—described as 'one of the coolest things that happened to the day.' The interception was negated by an Eric Armstead roughing the passer penalty, but the source emphasizes the quality of Hunter's coverage work and his ability to take away vertical routes in zone coverage, exemplifying the Jaguars' defensive strength.PositiveRoleOct 5, 2026
Hunter made an impact play for the Jaguars defense in their win over Cincinnati, though the source notes they should have had another interception from him. He was part of a Jaguars defense that executed a bend-don't-break game plan effectively, forcing Burrow to throw into specific windows and preventing explosive plays.PositiveRoleOct 2, 2026
The source advocates for Travis Hunter to play more snaps at cornerback to build reps in the Jaguars' communication-heavy, zone-based defensive scheme. Hunter has special movement skills and can close on plays effectively, but needs consistent reps to be comfortable with the coverage assignments and pass-off responsibilities by playoff time; the source notes he didn't get many snaps against Denver early in the season but should be a top outside corner alongside Jerry Jones.PositiveBreakoutSep 2, 2026
The source views Travis Hunter as a potential difference-making corner who adds a layer to the defense that was missing last year. His presence is expected to provide a jolt to the secondary, which the source considers a strength of the team.
