Denzel Boston

NegativeUsage1:59

Denzel Boston is locked in as the full-time X receiver and will run routes on almost every play, but the source expresses skepticism about his fantasy value due to Deshaun Watson's inability to make the necessary throws for an X receiver, noting Watson is currently limited to short-range shovel passes.

0:00The one thought that I had going through
0:01my mind this morning as I was like
0:03watching the Browns play was man like
0:06this could legitimately be one of the
0:08funnest groups of fantasy skill players
0:10in the NFL if they had a quarterback.
0:12Like I would you could make yourself
0:14excited about every single player on the
0:16offense between Judkins, Fannin, Boston,
0:19Concepcion. I don't know if you listen
0:21to the Athletic podcast but Robert Mays
0:23who works for the Athletic does a series
0:25every summer where he goes to different
0:27training camps and they interview the
0:28Athletic writer for that specific
0:30training camp and they went to Cleveland
0:31and the Cleveland beat reporter was like
0:33I can't even like tell you the night and
0:35day difference what it feels like to
0:37have real receivers on the field for our
0:39team for the first time in years. He's
0:40like in the previous years it felt like
0:42when we were running out Cedric Tillman
0:44and those guys like we did not have we
0:46had not an ounce of separation on the
0:48field at any point. He's like now it
0:49feels like we have legitimate real
0:51threats at the receiver position. So
0:52they could feel it on the field.
0:54Concepcion like you mentioned it they
0:55had the end around for the touchdown.
0:57They had the little like shovel pass.
0:58Todd Monken's like going to get
1:00Concepcion's hands on the ball multiple
1:02times force per game which is cool and I
1:03think he'll end up having a higher floor
1:05because he's going to be one of those
1:06guys he'll probably have like 600 650
1:08receiving yards but he'll probably add
1:10like a sneaky 150 on the ground and
1:12before you know it he'll have one of the
1:13higher yardage rookie seasons because of
1:15the ways that they get him involved
1:17there. So Concepcion's really
1:17interesting from a PPR standpoint. It's
1:19really hard to get behind Boston despite
1:21the really strong usage. Like he's going
1:23to be they've pretty much already
1:24announced he's going to be like the
1:25full-time X and he'll be out there on
1:27almost every route. Problem is like how
1:29valuable is a Deshaun Watson acts at
1:31this point. Like he's only comfortable
1:32when he's like shovel passing something
1:34like that like 3 yards in front of the
1:35line of scrimmage anymore. He can't
1:36really make the throws that matter for
1:38an X type of receiver. So it feels like
1:40we might be a year too early on a Denzel
1:43Boston but I I I think it's fine
1:45probably taking shots on either of them
1:46because I think who who knows like maybe
1:48the offense can surprise a little bit
