0:02Welcome to the Legendary Upside podcast and YouTube channel. My name is Patra Rain. You can follow me follow all my work at legendaryupside.com.
0:10With me today, Greg Branos, the coach speak index for our legendary coach speak pod. Greg, how's it going?
0:16>> Going well thanks to that prayer circle yesterday at uh Raiders practice.
0:23Thanks to uh to Kirk Cousins and Fernando Mendoza doing the >> That is true. Like if you're going to have a prayer circle, I think the
0:32Raiders are the number one pick for >> it's like a >> at least the quarterback room >> for sure. Like a Captain Planet with our
0:39powers combined.
0:41>> Yeah. Yeah. I I think it's not like, hey, I know it's been a while, but I don't think that's happening.
0:52>> Yeah. No, no estranged relationships there. Yeah, >> they got a direct line.
0:58>> Yeah, he's he's coming over every Sunday, you know. So, uh yeah, I think the the Genty stuff obviously
1:08was extremely concerning. We still don't know uh the the extent of uh the ankle injury. Um so, we'll get more there, I'm
1:16sure. Do you have a sense of when the the coaches are going to speak on this or or not?
1:21>> Uh I'm not sure. There was there was a presser today, but it was the it was the players. So, I
1:29don't know if like Kubak's going to have one later. Their offensive coordinator Janoko had one yesterday, but that was before the injury.
1:37>> Okay. Okay. Well, that's obviously one to keep a really close eye on. Um, but we've got some other stuff that we're
1:44going to cover that, you know, we've got uh some actual coach quotes on. One injury related uh also positive. Chris Bell. He's looking like it's possible
1:54he's ready for week one now.
1:57>> Yes. Uh they've they've kind of been hinting at this for a while, Jeff Hafley, for like several weeks, talking about the possibility of him playing
2:07maybe in the preseason. Uh he suited up for the preseason game the other night and people were like, "Oh my god, he's
2:14gonna he's going to play in this game."
2:16Um but Halfley he he didn't play in the game and Halfley said that like we just wanted to kind of get him going in in
2:25this um like the whole routine is different in this league. I wanted him to feel it, go through it so that if he
2:31does get to play in a preseason game or when he does play in a real game, it's not the first time. And then today we
2:36just got news that he is out of the red non-cont jersey. So, like might be able to play in this upcoming preseason game and
2:46looks like like he might be ready for week one. He's he's such a smash right now in in the in the later rounds.
2:55>> Yeah, he's someone I'm going to take a close eye uh look at today um as we do we do a big rankings update every
3:02Monday. And yeah, things have been kind of shocking as far as his injury recovery goes. I mean, I believe it was
3:09a December uh ACL injury for him. Um, and so his I what I would say on Chris
3:19Bell is that I was not been like as excited about him from a prospect profile perspective um as some others were. But there there
3:29was, you know, talk of him as like this guy could be, you know, in the first round mix um based on what he did in
3:35college. And I think had he not gotten hurt and then, you know, if he'd had a strong combine, you know, on and on, I
3:44don't think that's out of the realm of possibility that he could have secured, you know, an Omar Cooperesque kind of standing with NFL teams. Maybe
3:53it would have been an early second round pick, but, you know, he tore his ACL and still got drafted in in the third round.
3:59So, um, there's definitely some upside here.
4:04Uh, I have taken some Caleb Douglas now because he's sort of earned uh a role out of the gate it looks like. And I
4:13kind of just want to take like the bird in the hand a little bit with Miami because I just I don't know like what
4:21like with Miami I'm like hey Caleb Douglas I'm going to get some production early maybe and then also maybe late because he's a rookie. Bell I've been
4:30nervous about because it's like when does he play and um when he does play he's still stuck with Malik Willis as
4:38his quarterback but this obviously now when does he play could be pretty soon could be week one so that makes him a much easier click uh
4:47to your point. Yeah. And the way that they talk about Caleb Douglas, like there's a little hesitancy there and and and you know the the this depth chart
4:57that they put out. I think we might have touched on before how a lot of these depth charts that initially come out,
5:04the coaches have nothing to do with those. Like Mike McCarthy, they asked him about a depth chart a couple weeks ago. He was like, "Talk to our PR guy
5:11that he's the one that made that depth chart." But then Halfley when he was asked about like um Caleb Douglas, he's
5:18he's listed as a starter on the depth chart. Sounded very much like Halfley had a hand in in that. Now, this was
5:25before Chris Bell was like really back at practice. It might have been even before like the red no contact jersey.
5:32Um but uh yeah, like they they there there are some things to smooth out with with Caleb Douglas, which which they've talked about and maybe he fixes,
5:43right? um some of the like ball security stuff. Um the the like securing it as soon as you get it, the footwork as soon
5:50as you catch the ball, flattening out routes, all this stuff that they've been talking about lately. Um and they they they just seem to like Chris Bell quite
5:59a bit, too. So, like I I just wonder for for this team who might be running like a decent amount of 12 personnel, a
6:08team that wants to run the ball a lot, a team that drafted Will Casmic and their general manager, John Eric Eric
6:14Sullivan, called him an unsung hero uh for this upcoming season, a guy that's going to be blocking a lot for them. Do
6:21do those two wide receiver sets turn into Malik Washington and Chris Bell by like week three?
6:28>> Why Malik, though?
6:30Yeah, may maybe it's Caleb Douglas and in Chris Bell.
6:34>> Yeah, I mean Malik Washington stinks, right? Like he's he's a screen merchant who doesn't do much with screens, you know? I just don't I don't really see
6:43the point of him. I think it would be smart for them. They they burned $99 million
6:53to get rid of uh Tuakabaloa, right? They they just literally $99 million dead cap hit that they're I think spreading out
7:02over the next two years. But it's like, you know, like that's that's a uh that hurts your franchise a little bit.
7:12like it it would be really to the extent that it's not like actively hurting their team um in like a really
7:21significant way like you got to get these rookies on the field >> getting like getting something realizing you have something in Caleb Douglas or
7:29Chris Bell is so much more valuable than whatever marginal increase Malik Washington might give you. I I don't know. Not they might they're going to do
7:38whatever they want, but I just think it would be kind of nuts if you know you're you're prioritizing Malik Washington over either of these guys.
7:46>> Yeah, that half did mention in his presser yesterday about our rookies are going to get a lot of playing time this
7:54year on on on both sides of the ball. Um obviously like guys like Jacob Rodriguez on on defense, Caleb Douglas will be in
8:01there. Um, and and and I think we see I think Chris Bell is like by by midseason he's the guy who's most likely
8:10to be on the field like all the time. I think that's probably right at this point. Yeah. Um, and so yeah, I mean
8:18that definitely makes him intriguing.
8:20Let's see. So his ADP now, uh, let me just pull up the DraftKings ADP on him.
8:30So, I mean, yeah, he's he's like still in the two late 220s or No, no, he's
8:38exactly 220. Uh, based on the ADP I have here. So, we'll jump in a draft later and we'll see. But >> yeah, after today's news, I I expect
8:46he'll be going probably what, like 15th, 16th round, like pretty quick.
8:52>> I think I'm out on that. Um, at least 15th I'm out on that. I mean, like, if he's anywhere near Jacobe Lane or Pat
8:59Bryant, I'm just It's a big no from me.
9:02>> Is Isn't Lane like much earlier than that now? He's like in the one >> Lane is uh Let's see. I found Jaylen Lane first.
9:13Uh Lane's 147. Yeah. Yeah, good point.
9:18Lane, man. Lane rocketed up.
9:22Uh Pat Bryant though is 178. Okay.
9:27>> So if you're if you're asking me between Pat Bryant or Chris Bell, I'm taking Pat Bryant pretty easily.
9:33>> I just I just the offense, you know, like >> you might be the number one wide receiver uh in Miami.
9:42>> Cool.
9:43>> You might be the number two wide receiver down the stretch.
9:45>> Targets a game maybe.
9:47>> Yeah. Yeah. like like what about if Pat Bryant is really breaking out? Like he has a chance to be the number two target
9:53down the stretch for Denver. That that I'm I'm a lot more into. So, um but yeah, I mean I agree that he is
10:01definitely a much much better pick than I than I thought. Uh for sure. Um all right, let's talk uh well, you have
10:11Clint Kubak on the wide receiver broom.
10:13What's what's going on there? Yeah. So, Clint Kubak after the preseason, like the day after their their second preseason game, was
10:24asked what he has learned about the wide receiver room in that uh in that week's joint practice and game against the
10:32Texans and have any of the receivers stood out? Kubak said, "I learned a lot in that we have to get a lot better very
10:39fast." God, >> we took a step backwards. Doesn't mean we can't go forward, but right now we are trying to find someone that is
10:48accountable and can help us on Sunday.
10:51Still looking also so the day before this >> someone.
10:56>> Yeah, someone.
10:57>> You mean we don't have anyone?
11:00>> Well, he at wide receiver.
11:02>> Yeah. It's really funny when you go back and look at like John Spyc's interview with Kay Adams a couple months ago and
11:09she was asking about the wide receiver room. He's like, I love our wide receiver room.
11:14>> These guys get so overconfident on stuff. You think fantasy analysts get overconfident, which we do.
11:19>> These guys get overconfident. The Raiders were like, "We're good. We don't need Diggs or Debo or Keenan. Come on."
11:26>> Yeah.
11:26>> Kubak in in the postgame presser. So basically all like a ton of the starters uh sat out this second game, but Jaylen
11:37Naylor played in this game and they asked Kumbiaak in the postgame presser what went into playing Jaylen Naylor with with the the starting offense
11:46tonight like the the the the first team that was out there tonight. And he said quote just was my decision. Yep. End
11:54quote.
11:57So, it sounds like one of the guys that that they're looking for for something more from >> is this guy's been pissing me off in
12:05practice and I wanted to see if he could get his act together and he really didn't. He didn't. He didn't look good
12:11and I don't know if he's going to make the team.
12:15I may have taken a little far there, but he's not I don't think Naylor's been part of their plan. It seems like Malik
12:19Benson's ahead of Naylor now.
12:21>> I mean, he didn't have a great game himself either. Fair.
12:26>> Yeah.
12:26>> Oh, it is Malik Benson.
12:28>> Yeah.
12:28>> Yeah.
12:30>> And then Bes like who knows? Like he he he looked pretty >> decent.
12:37>> He did look pretty decent in the first in the first game and you're at least going to get like some good blocking out
12:42of him as a as a former tight end and he's he's he's put that stuff on tape in the NFL, but like he's he's seems like
12:49he's headed to like Jag territory.
12:52>> Like Trey Tucker is really the only wide receiver in that room who they feel good about. I think if Jack BH puts
13:02on like 20 pounds and like puts in about three years of work, he could he could have like a
13:09Darren Waller type breakout later on.
13:14>> The Kelvin Benjamin.
13:16>> Yeah. Well, no, he he needs Yeah, Kelvin Benjamin. He needs to convert to tight end for sure.
13:21>> Yeah.
13:22>> Yeah. But that's uh you know he's two he's listed at 214 so I don't think he's gonna play tight end at 214. It seems
13:29like Michael Mayer is gonna be a pretty big part of what they're doing.
13:31>> Yeah.
13:32>> Uh right. So you're going to you're going to have a lot of I mean people talk about base 12 and base 12 often
13:38means like 30% of snaps. You know like base 12 is not a base typically.
13:46>> Right.
13:46>> Right.
13:47>> This might be base 12 >> for sure. they might actually have to play >> between their personnel and Clint Kubak
13:54like this is I think Michael Bayer's a really really good pick in in the in the final rounds.
14:02>> Yeah, I think he's pretty solid. Um I just took him this morning actually uh in the in the final round of one of the
14:10tournaments that's already full. So um you know in a slow draft so you know I was like yeah Michael Mayer probably not
14:15going to be drafted a ton. Um, and he's not he's not a chance to be like a true starter like the some of the other late
14:25round tight end dart throws I like like like Kar and Washington. You're kind of like what if he's just kind of the the
14:311A? That's not what you're getting with with Mayor obviously, but he has some contingent value with tight ends in an unusual way. And then he also I think
14:38he's just going to play a pretty good amount.
14:39>> He's got he's got standalone value if like he's almost guaranteed to hit your lineup.
14:47>> Yeah.
14:48>> Yeah. He will hit your lineup at some point.
14:49>> Yeah. And then if something were to happen >> to Bowers, like maybe the best contingent tight end that's out there.
14:58>> Yeah. Yeah. Um, but man, it's it is it is isn't it kind of crazy like sometimes I feel like I'm taking crazy pills with
15:09the way these coaches talk about stuff like with the the receiver thing and like >> it is one of those things where
15:16>> our job is to predict what these teams are going to do not like what they should do. And so paying attention to
15:24the coach speak did make it clear that they weren't going to bring in a receiver and then they didn't. And so
15:31like that, you know, that's what matters. But also, what the hell were these dudes thinking? Like I I can't get over like we were also right. Like they
15:40should have brought in one of these receivers. Like they're still dumb and wrong for not doing that, right? I just I it kind of blows my mind. Like how was
15:48this the plan? This feels a little bit like the Joe Mixon situation for the Texans last year, except at least in the
15:55Texans defense, he had some procedure probably that led to whatever happened.
15:59We still don't really know, but they were caught off guard.
16:03How were how were the Raiders caught off guard here?
16:07They they should maybe send a couple of these guys for experimental procedures just to see if something clicks, you know?
16:17That's so good.
16:20>> I'm not hurt though. Yeah.
16:21>> Yeah.
16:24>> Are are like arm lengthening surgeries legal in the NFL? You know, they have the leg lengthening stuff where they break your legs and you're incapacitated
16:32for like six months. Maybe >> Dr. Clavvicular will see you. Now, this dude's hitting my arm with a
16:41hammer. Yeah, it might make it longer.
16:45It can't hurt. And if it does hurt, who cares? You're not good. Yeah, it's uh it's pretty it's pretty shocking. Um all
16:54right, Todd Monkin, he's feeling a little bit better about his receivers.
16:58He is. He's feeling very good about KC Conpsion.
17:04Let me pull that up here. On August 17th, Monin said, "From what we saw when we drafted KC Conpion and then getting him
17:13here, I hope we're trying to get him the ball as often as we can. That dude is explosive. He's tough. He's got great
17:21contact balance. He understands situational football. We've got to find a number of ways to get him the ball.
17:27Whether that's punt return, kick return, screens, shallows, down the field routes. He's gonna be a real weapon for us. That's that's a lot of things that
17:38he that he mentioned there. And uh also, by the way, on DraftKings, you do get points for punt return and kick return
17:46touchdowns for for these players. So, uh and and I know some people out there are also in, you know, punt return, kick
17:53return yardage leagues and that sort of thing. Conceptsion big big time um smash in those leagues.
18:02The thing with conception this is this is kind of like you know as we get kind of almost through August now I am trying
18:11like it's funny because before August starts I'm like we're going to learn a lot about you know these depth charts like we don't you don't want to just
18:16kind of be blindly swinging at some of these really low low floor situations but I feel like at the end of August all
18:23I hear now is what has happened in August as if that's the only thing and so I am trying it's nice to get stuff
18:30like this on concept because we got so much on Boston to the point where I felt like Conpion is getting forgotten about
18:37and you'd even hear stuff like from Beats like, "Hey, by the way, Conpion looks really good. As excited as as Boston has been, exciting as he's been,
18:46Conpion is has been really good, too."
18:48And when you look at the profiles for these guys, Boston is more of the the ex receiver. He's going to be their
18:54starting X day one, it looks like. And that's awesome that he's earned that.
18:57Not every second round pick's going to do that. So, it is quite bullish, but Conpsion has a much stronger college profile and has done multiple things
19:08that are really exciting at an NFL level. He was a really great route runner per Matt Harmon's charting uh in his final season and kind of a
19:17traditional receiver with like an AOT that I believe was like 12.4, something like that. And so, he was like a downfield receiver who's getting open.
19:25That's cool. He was previously kind of a ball in hand, you know, yak guy.
19:32It was a little gimmicky at times. It was a little bit, you know, like schemed and that makes you concerned if he also
19:40can't get open.
19:41>> Mhm.
19:42>> But in combination with being able to get open in an impressive way, in a true junior season, and then getting drafted
19:49in the first round, that's actually pretty awesome. So, you know, he has the potential to be like a true number one
19:57receiver for this team in a fantasy kind of way where like who's going to be maybe the Z Flowers in this team. He he
20:05is a much better candidate for that than Boston just because of the type of player he is. And then frankly, he's
20:11just a much better prospect than Boston.
20:13Boston is a four-year guy.
20:16didn't do anything in his first two seasons when Washington was really loaded at receiver, which you know, maybe he's not his fault, but it's not
20:23like he had this massive, massive breakout later in his career. Conpsion was productive at two different schools, broke out early, broke out again as a
20:32junior, uh, and has the more fantasy friendly profile on top of probably just being better. So the the concepts own coach speak is to me it's it's very
20:42bullish and it's like you're putting that on top of a prospect profile first round draft capital um and checks a lot
20:48of the boxes that we're looking for from a fantasy perspective. Uh he he is a clear clear target. Someone I've been
20:55drafting all summer but I mean this only makes him an easier click.
20:59>> Yeah, a lot lot of bullish things with him. One is, you know, we don't have a lot in the database so far for Todd
21:06Monkin, but this is a 60-year-old firsttime head coach who comes across as very blunt, right? He just speaks his
21:15mind and I I I think we're going to be able to take him at his word. So, when he's talking about he's going to be a
21:21real weapon for us and we want to give him the ball as much as possible, I do believe that. Also, you have uh Conpsion
21:28getting rushing work in the first preseason game, which is a really good sign uh of of his usage. And again, >> we want to get him the ball as much as
21:39possible. This is another avenue to do that. And then you have him sitting in the second preseason game and in uh
21:46Denzel Boston uh playing in that game and yeah, you talk about the the the prospect profile like this guy's good, man. So his the only
21:57real drawback is >> the quarterback play, which I I was wondering this weekend like who
22:06who would be the best quarterback for Conpsion because you know they they just named Deshan Watson.
22:14>> Yeah. Right. Because you get like Shadore will put the ball in play. Now, sometimes it's going to be a really bad
22:21pick that he's putting it in play, but you have Watson throwing a lot of like dirt balls and just skying stuff and you
22:31probably see like more three and outs with Deshun Watson than you would with >> I just saw one. Yeah.
22:37>> Should have ugly.
22:38>> Yeah.
22:39>> Yeah. He's like when it just completely went with McNab, you know, and he's just dirting balls on like he's trying to get
22:46it to the running back in the flat and just dirts it. Mhm.
22:48>> Just it feels like it feels like that but like you know it's a 10 it's a it's an eight yard pass and the ball goes like four
22:56yards and into the ground. Like it's just God. They they named Watson as the starter and then it was like one of the
23:03reasons they name they they they thought he would be the right way to play it is because they have two road games to
23:10start and then they that allows them potentially bench him before he has to play in front of the Cleveland fans.
23:18Like good god.
23:21>> We have sacrificial X now we have sacrificial QB.
23:26>> It's so bleak. Like it really I mean yes this is from uh Ari Myraov my sports update like that's a
23:34you know this this is a real I was like did I this is this made up? No. He goes part of the thought process behind
23:40naming Deshun Watson the Brown starter is that they open the season with two road games at Jacksonville and Tampa Bay before returning home in week three.
23:46That would give Watson two games to prove himself away from the fan base. If he struggles, Shador Sanders could take over in front of the home crowd after
23:53booze after the booze Watson received Saturday. That is the I can't it's hard to conceive of like a worse reason to
24:02name a guy your starting quarterback, you know, like, oh, it's fine. We don't have a home game for three weeks.
24:10God, this is going to be awful. I mean, Shador stinks, too, by the way. You know, he just he just lost to
24:15quarterback competition to Deshawn Monzing.
24:20Derogatory.
24:22>> Derogatory.
24:23>> Yeah.
24:25At at least their defense probably stinks as well, so likely going to have to throw the ball quite a bit.
24:33>> Well, last year they were really good against the run and then obviously they had the insane pass rush, but their
24:39secondary was weak. So, not only do what I'm hoping for this year is maybe they don't >> fully stink and that they're good
24:47against the run again >> because the D line is still gonna be good even without Garrett, you know, Verse can play.
24:52>> So, and and it was pretty deep >> uh last year and they they have they have that line intact without Garrett.
24:58So, I I'm wondering if maybe they're just like a huge pass funnel.
25:02>> That'd be great.
25:03>> Yeah, with the secondary being the thing teams are really picking on.
25:07>> That'd be pretty fun. How bad are Dylan Gabriel and and Dalen Green that they can't?
25:15>> Yeah, >> they can't uh get in this competition.
25:19>> Well, you say that, but you know, they could >> they could six.
25:25>> Yeah.
25:27Yeah.
25:27>> Yeah. Yeah. I wonder I I wonder how much of naming Watson the starter is also like if if you start with Shadore and
25:37then he falls on his face and then you bring in Watson and he falls on his face like what what you got to go back to
25:45Shadore.
25:48Yeah. I think I mean there's no good options but yeah there's just no good options. I think the best option is fire Andrew
26:00Barry.
26:02I I don't understand why like this why wasn't the why you know it's not these two guys right so like couldn't they have brought in somebody
26:13like why aren't you the Tua team or whatever like trade for Penn trade for Penn what would Penn have cost you know
26:21like something do something that has the potential to work like you know like obviously trading for Penn is a low it's
26:29a risky move it might not work But like I don't know, he was actually kind of okay last year. Like it could work. It's
26:35not zero to work. You know what's zero to work? Starting Deshun Watson because you can bench him in week three before
26:41he plays a home game.
26:43>> That's incredible. It sounds awful.
26:47>> Love it.
26:47>> JJ McCarthy is probably available.
26:51That's where I draw the line. Don't trade for McCarthy. But I would trade I would trade for trade for Tana McKe.
26:56That seems like I'm pretty sure Tana McKe is a is a is a Howie SC up. I I don't think that's that's real either,
27:03but >> or draft Cole Payton.
27:06>> Cole Payton is a Yeah, I mean, Tailon Green is kind of a Cole Payeyton developmental type of option, but I I
27:12think he's uh I I I'm just more skeptical with with him. Um but yeah, Mason Mason Rudolph.
27:23>> Yeah. I mean, honestly, like how does this team not have Mason Rudolph? Yeah, cuz I think with with um >> Trabiscy.
27:31>> Trabis. Yes. Yeah.
27:33>> Will Levis >> I just don't really get it from Monin's perspective because you know you're like you're getting your chance to to finally
27:40be a head coach, right? And you're like you're going to the these are the guys that are going to define you. Like from
27:49a long-term perspective, they're probably best off if these guys are so bad that they get the number one pick.
27:55But from Monin's perspective, why didn't they build in like some floor to the situation?
28:05>> Trade for Mac. Jones. You could have traded for M. Jones. I think >> it would for sure cost you more than
28:10than it should have, but you could have done it.
28:13>> Yeah, he's a decent starting quarterback.
28:18>> Yeah, maybe Charlie saying, you got to imagine ownership or management had a say in Watson starting to your point.
28:24Management shouldn't have a say in it at all.
28:27>> Management should be gone.
28:29>> Ownership. I mean, I don't know if Yeah. God, it's hard to imagine anyone being like, "Yeah, no, we have to give
28:39Watson more time." But but maybe >> it's hard to imagine being a Browns fan.
28:44>> Yeah. Yeah. It can't be as choice as a tank year, but I mean I Yeah, I guess it's probably maybe Maybe they just were
28:50like, "This is who you got to work with, buddy. Deal with it." Maybe that maybe that is right.
28:54>> I wonder if there's any kind of unspoken deal with Monkin that like we're going to give you a year two regardless of
29:03what happens in year one. Like we know >> I wouldn't trust that. You can't trust that. You know that doesn't work that
29:08way. You know, like I they these guys get fired after one if it if a if an NFL product is is bad enough to get a top
29:15five pick, it's bad enough to get anyone fired regardless of what they said before the season. You know, it's just how it goes. I mean, I'm I'm kind of
29:22shocked Aaron Glenn came back. You know, that that to me that's the exception, not not the rule. The rule is is is them
29:30getting rid of the guys like Gerard.
29:31>> He fired his entire staff.
29:34>> Yeah. Right. He had he had to do the full sacrifice. Yeah. Yeah.
29:38>> Threw everybody under the bus. He was like, actually, you know what it was? It was all of these people.
29:43>> Yeah.
29:44>> And Erin, what would you say your strength is? I'm I'm a CEO.
29:48>> Put I put a team together. My my strength is putting a team together, >> right? Sam Jackson, but really awful
29:57>> at his job. Just the shittiest superheroes that you assembled, >> Erin, these are just guys.
30:06>> It's I don't see any powers among any of them.
30:14>> Oh, all Oops. All Jubilees.
30:16>> Oops. All jubilees.
30:20I want to see an X-Men movie that's just a bunch of Jubilee clones.
30:26Coaching the Jets.
30:30Uh, all right.
30:33Let's uh let's let's move to um Oh, Keenan Allen to close out wide receiver.
30:37>> Yeah.
30:37>> Uh you've got some quotes on what Shane Stiken is is thinking uh he brings.
30:42>> Yeah. So the first stiken presstor after this Keenan Allen acquisition got got got several quotes from him here. They asked him what does Keenan Allen bring.
30:52Stiken said the veteran presence and his production. He's been productive every single year he's been in the league.
30:58He'll play outside. He'll play inside.
31:01We'll move all our guys around. Then they asked him about Allen's role.
31:05Stiken said obviously we want him to come in and produce but we'll be smart with him too. It's not like he's going
31:11to be out there 70 plays per game. I love when a coach says that, by the way, like they're expecting to have 70
31:18offensive plays per game.
31:21>> Wild. Yeah.
31:22>> Yeah. Uh Stiken said he's the most cerebral receiver I've ever been around.
31:27He sees the game like a quarterback. How to run routes, how to attack leverage, how he sees coverage in the slot and
31:33outside, how corners play, how linebackers play him in the slot. He's seen so many different looks. It's like clockwork for him. and his brain. And
31:41then finally, they asked Stiken whether signing Keenan Allen is indicative of where Alec Pierce is at. Stiken said no.
31:48That's completely independent. Alex in a great spot right now. He's doing really good. I watched him work out yesterday in the indoor. No one was there, by the
31:57way. This is uh my girlfriend lives in Canada. Uh he's moving around really good, so hopefully we'll have him back sooner than later. So, anybody who was
32:07counting on 70 snaps per game for Keenan Allen, sorry. What I will say, you know, in his defense a little bit is when you
32:15look at the snaps for stuff, that doesn't include penalties. So, there are some extra plays, you know, that that don't get counted. Um, but yeah, it's
32:27not I mean, you could maybe get to 60, but it's not 70.
32:31>> That'd be like by far the most plays ever, right? in in in an NFL season.
32:38>> What if it was 70 per game?
32:40>> 70 per game. Yeah.
32:41>> Yeah.
32:41>> Like usually the top is what like 64 per game.
32:44>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But again, I I think maybe he's thinking the penalties and stuff and his coach I mean those are
32:50plays that happen, you know.
32:51>> Sure. Yeah.
32:52>> So, you know, physically he was he was present. Uh >> but yeah, it's always fun. He's not going to be out there for all 60
33:00dropbacks, you know.
33:04They love to exaggerate that.
33:06>> Uh any anything take away from that? I mean, it seems like he's kind of what we thought, right? He's going to play some
33:12inside, some outside, but probably not uh in two wide receiver sets so much would be my guess.
33:18>> Yeah. My my concern for the other pass catchers here with this Keenan Allen acquisition is I think the red zone
33:28because Keenan Allen has been so good in the red zone and and and just like Styen is talk talking about with how cerebral
33:35he is and and and just kind of the the instincts like he he knows how to work in the red zone, right? if if nothing
33:43else. Um he he he knows how to how to work zones and and and man and all that stuff down there. Uh so I would I would
33:51I would be a little bit afraid of him doing kind of what he did last year with the Chargers and and and siphoning away
33:59some of these like easy short intermediate targets and then also some of the red zone stuff.
34:06Yeah, I think you know he certainly hurts to some extent and you know seasons where you imagine like what does it look like if Tyler Warren just has an
34:16a monster season?
34:19It it's a it's a little harder to see it with Keenan there if Keenan is what he was last year. It's not impossible, but
34:26it does make it like a little bit harder to see. And then DS, you know, what if DS just has his breakout season playing
34:32on the outside? It does make it a little bit harder for him to to consolidate as much as you'd like. Um, but at the same
34:40time, Pierce I don't think is going to play.
34:42>> Sorry, breaking news.
34:44>> Okay.
34:45>> Kahan Booty traded to the Texans.
34:48>> Oh, per Tom Pelisero.
34:53>> Wow. Okay. You got the Patriots connection there.
34:57>> Yeah.
34:57>> Uh, yeah, that's pretty big. It seems like maybe Dell had a setback. uh because he hasn't been practicing in a
35:04while and then they trade for Booty. So that might be that for Dell who I've drafted a good amount of. Um but yeah,
35:11that seems, you know, very significant for Dell and then uh pretty pretty good for Booty. I mean, Booty probably be a starting
35:21outside wide receiver now. Yeah, I think I like they've they've they've kind of been telegraphing that they want to lean more into like being a bigger team, like
35:30a heavier personnel team, being able to really like smashmouth, run the ball. Um Jaden Higgins was like a big part of
35:39their plans this year, you know, between between he and Nico Collins, like two gams out there on the field in in two
35:47wide receiver sets and Booty a little bit bigger guy. Um now to kind of replace Jaden Higgins. I think I think
35:56it's a really good match. I think this is good for Straoud, too.
36:01>> I think it's good for Straoud. Um for sure. Uh it's interesting how much of a Higgins replacement he'll ultimately be
36:09because I think Higgins was was talking about playing you know they're talking about playing him in the slot. It is a
36:14little bit it's you know Booty is is the guy he's closest to is Nico Collins you know he's a he's an ex type of guy who
36:24doesn't really separate is good downfield can haul in the ball even if he doesn't get a ton of separation. Nico can get way more separation, but can
36:33still be that big 50/50 catch ball guy, too. So, it is a I think if the Texans were I mean, obviously they they
36:40suffered uh a big loss here with Jaden Higgins. So, this was never the plan, but it is unfortunate in terms of like
36:46the way the kind of the archetypes fit together to some extent, but Booty is a capable outside wide receiver. Apparently, it's had an
36:53awesome camp. There was a quote. Do you have the the quote from the Patriots of like a week or so ago where they asked
37:00him about about Booty? I think they asked like one of the position coaches about Booty.
37:04>> Um >> uh No, >> there was something I saw coach, but like the the way that Mike Vrabel has been talking about it when he's been
37:16asked throughout this off season, like usually a coach will shut that stuff down and be like, "No, like he's he's a
37:22Patriot whatever.
37:24Rael has not done that. Like they were he was like kind of sending a signal that this guy is available for trade.
37:32There was there was uh I forget where I saw it. I thought but someone I want to see if I can actually find the
37:41quote but I remember seeing something where they asked someone on the Patriots like what has your take been on Kahan Booty and the way he's approached camp
37:48and the dude was like it's an example I'll use for the rest of my coaching career. like this guy's brought it. And
37:54I think I think Booty was in a really tough spot this this summer where he clearly had been replaced in a way that's like a little
38:03unfair. You know, he had this breakout season. He uh was he had a great connection with May and they literally just go out and replace him twice and
38:13and knock him down the death chart and it now it's like you're you're not really a part of our plans anymore,
38:18dude.
38:19Uh, and I think a lot of players would I mean like I that seems pretty tough, you know, and like he seems like had a
38:27really really impressive camp. Um, and so I think it's awesome to see him land on his feet here.
38:34>> Yeah, for sure. Somebody was asking in chat if this is is this worse for booty.
38:40No, this is much much better.
38:42>> Much much better. Yeah. A and and Rael, by the way, has been talking quite a bit lately about wanting to get
38:50Kyle Williams going and wanting to get him opportunities and how he is part of their plans for for this year.
39:00Yeah, I I think I'm calling BS on that, but it opens up him. It opens up a roster spot for Williams for sure. Uh,
39:09but it seems like Douglas is is pretty clearly locked in as the the slot there.
39:14And then you still have Matt. Collins who they do like and so Kyle Williams would probably be the wide receiver.
39:21Five now. That Chisum will probably make the team too I would guess.
39:27>> Yeah, Chisum pro probably will.
39:31>> Yeah. So, yeah. So, um, makes sense for both teams given the way things were headed for for Booty as far as just
39:38being a reserve player in New England.
39:40Now, he'll be, I think, a starter for the Texans. So, uh, yeah, I think he's he's someone I think we'll like in kind of the
39:52range where Keenan Allen goes would be my guess. Uh we're going to update we're literally going to jump on a call this
39:58afternoon and get everything sorted. But um just you know off top of my head I think that's probably the general range
40:05that he'll he'll be a solid pick >> like 150 160th.
40:09>> Yeah, like in the 150 160 range I think.
40:13>> Someone said he's 96.
40:15>> That seems that seems hot.
40:17>> Yeah. Who who did he go ahead of there?
40:20that's like ahead of Conpsion and Matthew Golden and >> who saying this is good for Nico and I actually agree there. I mean even though
40:30they're saying they're kind of duplicative like Nico is way better. You could you could move Nico into the slot some. You could do some cool stuff with
40:36Nico. Booty can obviously play true X.
40:39So um yeah. Will this move up dos? Not for I don't think we'll change anything on the Patriots side. I I don't think
40:48Booty was never a factor for the Patriots. Pretty clear he was uh always open that, you know, they were always he
40:54was on the trade block. That was, you know, the they were answering calls. Uh and so I I just don't think this changes
41:02much at all. Booty's been locked in. It might make Booty hard or it might make sorry, uh Dobs has been locked in. It
41:08might make Dobs go sooner, but I don't think he's any better really of a pick.
41:13Uh he's he's been very very locked in as a starter. Yeah.
41:17>> Doss to round four. I mean, >> I hope.
41:20>> Sure. I've got plenty of them guys.
41:24Yeah. Great. Yeah. Hey, I get more Luther Burton behind my Dobs now.
41:29>> Yeah. Um, you had you had a note on Carninal Tate as a as a final receiver here actually.
41:36>> Yes.
41:37So, they asked Robert Salah in the postgame presser yesterday, why have you not been able to get Carnell Tate going in these first two preseason games? And
41:49Salah said, "We're really not game planning." And there's different philosophies. Could Dable move him around and deliberately try to get him
41:57the ball? Sure. But we're going out there and running our base vanilla offense. We're barely motioning. We're normal spacing. We're not exactly making
42:05it easy for our players to go execute, but at the same time, that's not what this is for. There will be a time to
42:12game plan and scheme people open, but right now it's about executing the base fundamentals of what the scheme is supposed to be in all three phases. When
42:20it's time to game plan and get people the rock, we'll get him the rock. And then today in Oppressor, Salah was asked
42:28what he's seeing from Tate who's been struggling lately. And Salah said, "You still see a young man who's working relentlessly to try to perfect his craft
42:35and try to understand what's being asked out of him from a schematic and technique standpoint. I think he's doing a really good job on his day-to-day
42:43process. I get that the preseason games haven't lit the world on fire, but what we've been seeing in practice is a
42:49pretty damn good football player. So, we'll continue developing and working with him, and hopefully everything translates once the season starts."
42:59>> Yeah. Yeah, I mean I think when you get some of these guy it does it does feel like a little bit Marvin
43:06Harrisony, you know, in a bad way obviously where you're like and you never love when a guy comes in as a rookie and it's like
43:16all right here's like the hardest possible assignment. Here's how we can make this extra difficult for you. Um but that would like if you can do that
43:25at a high level right away that'll like really help our team. So, just do that and uh we'll see you in a year, you
43:32know, see how that went. Um and like and it's like that's probably not the best, you know, even if that ultimately like
43:40works with Harrison, you know, like maybe like this year or next year like he kind of clicks and he's like just,
43:46you know, kind of Andre Johnson or something >> like you could have made your life a lot easier if you just made his life easier.
43:53>> Yeah. Yeah, I I I I love this line. And by love, I mean, hate, we're not exactly making it easy for our players to go
44:02execute, which like I understand it's a preseason game, right? And you are going to go very vanilla, but like maybe make
44:09it easy on them for a couple plays.
44:11>> Yeah. Why not make it a little easy?
44:13>> Yeah. You know, >> just a little bit easier. doesn't you don't have to put the whole playbook >> out there, but like maybe you should
44:20have more than >> 15 plays.
44:24>> Yeah. And like I got I hate to break it to you, Robert, but like the league isn't going to be studying you, you
44:31know, like you're going to have you're going to have your opponent will game plan for you and watch your tape and
44:37stuff, but it's not like there's going to be leaguewide trends of like, you know, they they figured out the plan for
44:42how you you you shut down the Titans.
44:44You know, everyone's going to study what what the Rams did against this team or whatever because that's how like no one's going to study anything. you're g
44:52they're gonna they're gonna pop open the Titans tape four days before they play you and then put something together. So, I don't know. I mean, I would just, you
45:00know, it does seem a little bit >> it's just not great vibes.
45:05>> Yeah.
45:05>> There. And then when you combine it with Cam Ward, >> who looks like he he might be a a pretty
45:13bad quarterback, >> the Ward stuff does seem >> pretty pretty scary. Yeah. At the same time, we don't actually know like what
45:21they what that quote could mean is it's preseason, so we're not doing the cool stuff we know we can do and plan to do.
45:28And we don't plan to have him just be the sacrificial X. We have plan to have his role be a lot more dynamic than
45:34that. But we're not going to show you that because it's preseason and we're not going to waste those plays. So yeah,
45:39I think that's pro, you know, that is what I think he meant. And while that's al like I agree that it's maybe a little
45:45silly to be like so dogmatic about not tipping your hand in the preseason when you have a secondear quarterback and a
45:51rookie wide receiver and it's it actually probably would be cool to like get some kind of connection going as soon as possible in these game
45:58situations.
46:00It ultimately probably doesn't mean that much. Um, and so yeah, I think the the big thing with Tate, and this is why I
46:08like taking rookie wide receivers in fantasy football, uh, is that it's just going to come down to how good he is.
46:14And we don't know that yet. And if he's awesome, then he'll be fine, you know, and if he's not if he's not awesome,
46:20uh, if he's not if he's not good, then he'll be a pretty big bust with a fifth round ADP. But you're getting him at a
46:26discount to where McMillan went last year. You know, you're getting him at a big discount to where we've taken some rookie wide receivers recently. So,
46:33especially in the sixth round, I I still think he's a good pick. Uh, you know, in the late fifth, I I am trying to get
46:40like a little bit more Watson and and stuff. Odun's someone I like there.
46:44Parker Washington, I'm trying I'm finally taking some of it. The five six turn. So, there are other options for sure but
46:51um I don't know. I still I still think the bet fundamentally is on the player here. Yeah, I would just like to hear
46:58like one good report about the offense in joint practices or something.
47:04>> Yeah. Yeah. I I do struggle with Cam Ward. I I think he probably is bad.
47:10>> And if and if Brian Dable can't get him on track, then probably just kind of over.
47:19One thing I will say for Dayball is that I think that he will be willing to let Ward make some mistakes and I think
47:26he'll be willing to to put some pass volume, you know, in play compared to the way some other guys might play this
47:34where I think some other offensive coordinators put in this situation would just go into a shell.
47:40>> Like imagine Arthur Smith in in charge of this offense. You know, it would be >> I don't I don't I don't And I think in
47:48some states you could be arrested for trying to make someone think about that.
47:53>> Yeah, it it is it is pretty awful. It's pretty dark. Yeah. Uh I should have I should have warned people before I threw
48:00that out there.
48:01Um, but yeah, I mean, he's he's at least I think he kind of understands the idea a little bit more of like, you know,
48:09you're going to ride through some of the bumps with, you know, and some of the some of the mistakes with a guy like
48:14Ward and and maybe he because look, I mean Ward he clearly has a low floor playtoplay, >> you know, if uh comment here, why do you
48:24think why do we think Cam Ward is bad?
48:26Not disagreeing, but did something happen? Yeah. Uh 25 happened.
48:34>> Bang.
48:38>> Too good. Yeah. So, I mean that's that's pretty it's it's pretty concerning how inefficient I mean this he's on a Zach
48:44Wilson trajectory right now. You know, he's on he's on like we can't do this anymore after year two type of thing.
48:53And he can pull up out of that. It's not a guarantee, but that that's when you have a rookie season as bad as he did,
49:00you you have to start thinking about like the true true bus as as being not just in the range of outcomes, but like
49:08making up a pretty decent chunk of the range.
49:10>> Yeah.
49:12Um All right, let's move to running back. Uh well, let me ask you this because I've been taking Tate more than
49:17than you, I think. Where where would you be taking Tate now?
49:21>> I would be taking him after a Dunay.
49:25Okay.
49:26>> Um, like probably not until like no earlier than end of the sixth round.
49:34I think like I' I' I'd rather have those elite quarterbacks like Jaden Daniels, Drake May, um, you know, some of the
49:42running backs going in that area.
49:44Obviously like Jedarian Price, I think Raandre Stevenson I'd rather have than Carnell Tate.
49:49>> Yeah, I'd rather have him than Stevenson, I think. But price maybe not.
49:57>> Yeah, there's there there's a whole the sixth round is just like kind of kind of weird.
50:02>> It gets rough.
50:03>> Yeah. It's like, do you want to do you want to reach a little bit >> uh ADP-wise on one of these elite
50:08quarterbacks, or do you want to take one of these >> running backs that's not going to have this like probably legendary
50:18season, but like they'll they'll hit your lineup a good amount with like 15 points. Uh or do you want to like take
50:26the guy who is number four overall >> in the NFL draft this year?
50:32>> Yeah.
50:34Yeah. Um, all right, let's move to running back. Um, and we've got some some good stuff from Shawn Peyton on Jonah Coleman, which was
50:44which was fun to see. Let's start there.
50:47>> Yes, Denver Broncos. Shawn Payeyton on August 17th, they asked him about pulling Jonah Coleman early from the preseason opener. Payton said, "There
50:59was a point at two or three carries where I had seen enough. I've seen enough here. I didn't need to see
51:04additional evidence of what I've been seeing for three weeks." And then the next day in, uh, Davis Webb, uh, the offensive coordinator, his presser, they
51:16asked him the same thing about pulling Coleman early. Webb said, "I think after that one run, we all said on the
51:22headset, we're good. He did what he needed to do. He's been great the last three weeks. He's been consistent. We've been throwing a lot of installs at him
51:32and he's been great. He's been handling that. We're satisfied with that entire room. And then they asked a followup.
51:39What have you thought about how to balance enough work for three running backs with Jonah Coleman coming on? And Web said, I think it's all going to work
51:48itself out. But yes, I've had a lot of those thoughts, especially watching Jonah play the way he has the last few
51:55weeks. And we all know what JK Dobbins is and RJ Harvey had 12 touchdowns. As a rookie, I think there are worse issues
52:02out there. We'll try to figure it out.
52:08Yeah. I mean, he it sounds like he's going to have a role right away, right, as the running back three.
52:15>> Mhm. Um, and then can he pass Dobbins?
52:20Can he pass Harvey in some ways over the course of the whole year? That's going to be the question. But, you know, even
52:26if he can't, there's clear clear contingent value here. Uh, and I think he has he's a lot more interested than the typical running back three because
52:36he has multiple outs. Like, if Harvey went down, I think he could kind of replace some of the Harvey stuff.
52:41Obviously, he's not as as explosive, but um he is like a one of the bigger pass catcher types, you know, but he was a
52:50good pass catcher. Think think more Scataboo than Harvey, you know, as far as what that could look like. Um but that could be pretty fun. Uh and then
52:58obviously if Dobbins went down, then Coleman could be kind of the between the tackles banger type. Again, kind of like a Scataboo. He's got some Scataboo to
53:07him, you know. Um and and so he has that that way where he can have value through multiple avenues. He's got multiple outs
53:17that way. Uh he's definitely someone I want to get more of. He's, you know, the thing with Coleman is he never dropped a
53:24ton after the draft uh in a way that I I found discouraging as someone who wanted to be in. Um but he did fall to day
53:33three. So it's like I'm trying not to get out over my skis on a player. what that just fundamentally has a low floor
53:40if he's a day three pick but he never got super cheap and so I haven't taken a ton of them which has now I you know
53:48because he looks like it's going to work out at least reasonably well is has been a bummer but as a player that I do
53:56believe in and have wanted to draft more of the whole way and and it does thing like does look like things are moving in
54:02a positive direction even if he's not an absolute smash at ADP he's he's a good pick I think >> yeah It's it's kind of a unique
54:09situation cuz because usually when you know something like this is going on with a running back, it's like, okay, like this guy has worked himself into
54:17kind of like a clear RB2 role and maybe pushing for like kind of a 5050ish split, but like obviously they have
54:27Dobbins and RJ Harvey there. So, it's it's it's it's a very crowded running back room now with him kind of like
54:35forcing himself in there. Uh, also, by the way, Shawn Peyton really loves his pass protection. Uh, spoke uh a week or
54:43so >> ago about how uh in in in college they had like kind of an advanced pass protection system
54:53compared to like other colleges that you see running backs come out of. and he was kind of just ready day one in that
55:00area. And uh yeah, this is this is a running back who does like a a lot of things well, right? Like not outstanding
55:10in any one department, but does a lot of things well. And I he's he's he's a running back who you can see why Shawn
55:19Payeyton likes. I mean, he's he's a he's a little like JK Dobbinsish, like kind of current iteration
55:28>> of of JK Dobbins of like th this guy is going to get you the yardage that you want to keep your offense on schedule,
55:37which is like a huge thing for Shawn Payeyton. This is the reason why they drafted Bo Knicks is because they're they don't end up with negative plays
55:45with him. He doesn't take sacks. Um, and uh, yeah, like this is the the price is still a little bit expensive though.
55:56>> It's still a little bit expensive.
55:57>> He's RB he's RB3 basically.
56:01>> Yeah, he's RB3 but in a way that matters, but also he's RB3.
56:07>> So, yeah, it's there's a lot of seasons where he just doesn't matter very much.
56:11But I think drafters are sort of directionally accurate here where Jonah Coleman is probably going to matter in the NFL. I don't know when. It might not
56:22be this year, but I think he is going to matter at some point.
56:26>> Um, and so I think, you know, being like, well, I'm going to get out in front of uh, you good with JSN here?
56:32>> Sure.
56:34>> And, you know, I think it would be it's a totally reasonable way to play fantasy football to be and especially in
56:39reddraft, by the way. I think he's a he's a good reddraft pick. Like I have no push back on Jonah Coleman in
56:45reddraft at all. In fact, like my only push back is is very is baseball focused of like, well, he's on my he's on my
56:53roster all year and I don't have a chance to churn him if we just, you know, if it's like, yeah, Dobbins and
56:58Harvey are just fully taking the work.
57:01He's he's just contingent. Uh he doesn't actually even look that great, you know, against actual NFL defenses. like you could probably find someone else got
57:12hurt. You know, you you got to you got to drop Jonah Coleman so you can go pick up the the $450 fab guy.
57:20That that's to me he's a reddraft pick because we could also find out very quickly like no no no they have a role
57:26for him. He looks really good by week six or seven like he's gonna really be pushing Harvey. You know Harvey might be the RB3 ultimately like
57:35that kind of stuff. I think that's, you know, you can play reddraft by just going, I'm not sure exactly when it'll
57:41happen, but I know this player is too good to be drafted here, and at some point, like, they're going to be putting
57:46up points, and maybe I am a year early, but if I keep playing football, fantasy football like this, I'm going to end up
57:53finding guys who weren't a year early actually, and they're second round picks next year because we're we're they got the opportunity. They proved that they
58:01deserved it and they crushed. So, I think reddraftwise, Coleman makes a ton of sense baseball. Uh, I think he's he's he's now moved into where he's a good
58:11pick, but it's hard to to go nuts. I I I love that the messaging from Payton and Web was like exactly
58:21the same where they're talking about like, "We're on the headset. We're set.
58:25Uh, we said we've seen enough. Uh, we we've been seeing this for the last three weeks." both both of them said. Um
58:33yeah, and then also with you have with um with these Payton offenses and you know obviously Davis Webb is the play
58:40caller this year, but they they've said this is still going to be a Shawn Payeyton offense, right? But um when when they get down to kind of like the
58:4910 yard line, 5 yard line, they like having receiving backs in there. Like we've seen Jal Mclofflin play closer to the goal line than you would kind of
58:58expect that kind of running back play.
59:01So Coleman having bat stuff in his bag of being like a pretty decent pass catching back is is is also bullish. But
59:08also with the Yeah. Browers. Yeah.
59:11Um also with the size that he has like good good strong runner for sure.
59:20Um, all right. Let's I think we had another >> Texans >> running back one. Yeah, Texans. Texans.
59:29Woody Marks. They won't stop talking about Woody Marks, which is probably something we should talk about because we're going to be in the David
59:34Montgomery zoneish when it comes to the the fourth and fifth round. Uh, what are they saying about Woody Marks? Uh Daikica Ryan on August 22nd was asked
59:46about the growth that he has seen in Woody Marks since last season. Ryan said Woody's done an outstanding job. I see
59:53the growth starting with the pass protection. He had a really great rep in the game. He's just being stout in his
59:59protection. And then when he's touching the football, I'm seeing a more dynamic, faster, more physical runner. He's running behind his pads. He broke a few
60:07tackles on his touchdown run. He just uh looks faster. It looks more decisive.
60:12He's looking really special. Looking like he's going to have a special year.
60:16We'll also see what we can do from the kick returner spot as well. He's added value to our team. He's grown a ton.
60:22Much more relaxed and confident in his style of play and what he can bring for us. So, I'm excited about Woody this
60:29year.
60:31We are on the clock. Rashi Rice, top of the sidekick, then Z Flowers. Then Jaylen Wadd who's moved up into the
60:37third round finally. So, uh, what what do you like here?
60:41>> How nervous are you about Rashi Rice?
60:44>> I'm not super nervous. I'm like not not a little I'm a little nervous, but I think third round >> Sure. We can we can take him kind of
60:52middleish third round.
60:53>> Yeah, I definitely am a like at the one two turn. I've broken some ties against him. I had a high stakes draft. I think
61:01it was out of the one hole. Yeah, it was one hole.
61:03>> The two-3 turn.
61:05>> Sorry, the two-3 turn. Yeah, I was out of the one hole I think in the two three turn and I believe I just went Bowowers
61:14McBride instead of instead of uh Rice.
61:18Um but yeah, so like in certain situations I'm a little you know he had he's clearly still
61:29working back but he's also like playing a ton with you know Mahomes and everything. It's not like he's not able to be out there. He's still kind of
61:37getting it together, but it's not like he's had a setback. It's not like he's not practicing.
61:44It's more like, hey, he doesn't look like super awesome to me. Not a scout, you know? And so, yeah. And like coming
61:54off a knee injury, he's probably going to have some bad reps.
61:57Those reps, I think, tend to get put on Twitter at a higher rate maybe than some other guys reps.
62:03But whatever. I I I'm a little nervous, >> but it could also be like a huge value >> in the in the third round.
62:11>> It could be a huge value.
62:13>> Like a huge value.
62:14>> Like we were draft He was going around he had an ADP of like 14th overall at one point kind of earlier in the season.
62:23He he he could he could easily outscore he every receiver, you know, drafted outside the first round in this draft.
62:31He could outscore AJ Brown. Roie Rice could outcore AJ Brown.
62:36>> I don't want him to. I have more.
62:38>> I hope not.
62:39>> I have a lot of AJ Brown.
62:42>> But he could.
62:43>> Yeah.
62:45>> Some values here. We've got what? Five more. Four more picks are going to be off before we pick. So, I guess we I'm
62:53talking about this too soon, but the top three on the sidekick are pretty exciting to me.
62:57>> Yeah. Uh the the >> And there Yeah, the third one. I've been trying to get some.
63:02>> And there goes the other.
63:03>> Oh, wow.
63:06I think I'm I'm at like 6% on on on Tamac.
63:11Trying to pump out a little bit.
63:13>> Yeah, those are rookie numbers.
63:18Um, yeah. I mean, I I just saw Roorld had a Denny and Pat were talking about how they're they're a little bit worried about the ceiling
63:27because of the offense and everything, which I which I get to an extent, but I do think and he goes on
63:36>> uh top of the sidekick now is Cam Scataboo, DeAndre Swift, David Montgomery, Luther Burton, Bishel Tutin.
63:43>> It's very close between Scataboo and Swift for me here. Let's go swift. He's got the higher ADP now.
63:53>> Yeah, the manai stuff is is big. He's been dealing with two injuries now week to week with with a knee.
64:02>> Yeah, I think we could get Scataboo back. I think that's that's possible.
64:08>> Yeah.
64:09>> Uh with the with the hair stuff. Um >> yeah, there's a quote on on Naji the other day from John Harbaugh
64:19with interview with team media asked him what he likes about Naji Harris.
64:24Harbaugh said he's a big physical back with tremendous feet, very nifty, great vision. You saw it in practice today why he is who he is and how he's going to
64:34make us better. I was really happy with what he did. And then obviously we had all that Tyrone Tracy stuff. The the
64:43past couple preseason games with a with a blown pass pro and the fumble.
64:48Not not looking great for Mr. Tracy.
64:51>> No. Scaboo does go. Montgomery is top of the side. Now, how much are you buying the Woody Marks hype? Because we might
64:58have a chance to get Montgomery all the way at 505 here.
65:02>> Yeah, I like Montgomery in the middle of the fifth and he's gone.
65:11Price is uh price is getting a little more expensive.
65:16>> Price is getting more expensive for sure. Uh Psychic Love the running back here. Uh Judkins, Irving, the top two guys there. Uh what do you like?
65:26>> I' I'd be uh Judkins or Bucky.
65:29>> I'm good with either guy for sure. Uh, I'm down to go with the top recommendations unless she unless you have a
65:36>> Yeah, let's do Judkins and like maybe maybe Bucky comes back. Probably not.
65:41But >> that'd be fun though, man.
65:44>> Have have seen some middle of the sixth Bucky.
65:50>> There was a good uh quote from from Monkin on Judkins calling him a bull quite a bit. Yeah.
65:56>> Yeah. There there were like three or four times this off season when when he's asked about Quinton Judkins, he's like, "He's a bull. He doesn't go down."
66:07>> Yeah. Which they're going to need.
66:09They're going to need that this season.
66:13Um >> also, if he gets some work in the passing game, which like he can do, that would be that would be pretty huge
66:22for him.
66:24>> He can do that. He's not like a a differencemaker there at all, but you know, in the same way that, you know,
66:31you can throw to some of these other kind of early down guys. Um I he's probably closer to like a Kron Williams
66:38than even to a Josh Jacobs, but >> yeah, >> you know, he he can do it. May maybe a like a tier below Kenneth Walker who
66:47like people thought >> I would say a tier below. Yeah.
66:49>> Yeah. Who pe people thought for a long time like he can't he's not a pass catcher. Well, like he is a good pass catcher, but he was
66:58never really asked to do that much in in in the systems that he was in in college >> and then the NFL.
67:07I mean I maybe a Rico Dael where like you know Rico Dael you don't bring him on the field to catch passes but if he
67:15is on the field he can catch passes you know and Rico Dowel when he was just operating as a workhorse last year was
67:24was used some as a receiver even had that one play where he was like dude I just I just saw this you got to run this
67:30play >> scor a touchdown on it >> yeah so he's he can do it um and I think Judkins can do It's just that Samson's
67:37way better at it.
67:39>> Uh, and so it just comes down to how much they want to be rotating those guys versus how much you just want to lean on
67:44Judkins. There's a quote on Samson recently as well from Monkin. I'll pull up here.
67:53Look at this decision we might have to make.
68:01Yeah, I think there was an injury today on on Henderson, but it does not appear to be serious >> like at all. So,
68:15>> I hope this guy takes Anderson.
68:18>> Oh, >> let's go.
68:21>> Come on.
68:21>> Send me your address. Let me send you a gift basket.
68:24>> Jonathan Brooks flips from Yeah, dude.
68:27Yeah.
68:29>> I don't know. I the Raandre stuff. It's It's jumped the shark, I think.
68:32>> No.
68:33>> Yeah, >> definitely not.
68:35>> Do you really want Raandre here?
68:37>> I I'd be Reandre here.
68:38>> All right. I think it has. I don't >> Brooks might come back around with the uh running back by committee comments
68:44today.
68:46>> Those are good.
68:48>> Yeah. No, that's that's good because it'll >> depress the ADP. I'm I'm I'm saying he might >> No, I mean those are
68:55that's good for Brooks.
68:58>> What? running back by committee.
68:59>> Yeah.
69:01>> Why is that good for Brooks?
69:02>> Tuba is our starter. Are we looking forward to getting him back healthy?
69:07>> Oh, was that was that the question? I I haven't watched that press.
69:09>> No, no, I know. I'm No, I'm saying that's that's what I would have expected.
69:13>> I would expected maybe not expected, but that's that would have I would have been like like Chuba Chuba is our starting
69:19running back. Can't wait to see him back healthy. Still expect him back for week one. Like that. I I would not have
69:24>> expect stuff had been, you know, before the Chuba injury.
69:29>> I mean, Canalis back in February was saying that Brooks would have like would be competing to be a starter >> by the end of the year.
69:38>> Did he say end of the year? I don't think he said by the end of the year.
69:41>> By the week, the week one stuff was never like Brooks is gonna be our starter.
69:47That was just never in play. Yeah, we we have talked about this that like the guy coming off these back-to-back injuries
69:55like they're going to want to kind of ease him in, build him up, and then eventually, I think by like mid-season, then it's
70:04it's very clear, right? And in this >> meritocracy that Canalis runs, like, okay, if he's if he's the guy >> clearly the better option, then he's
70:13going to be the guy that's >> that's playing more. But the price has gotten like very expensive on that.
70:22>> It has gotten a lot more expensive. I don't think it's I still think in the sixth round if you're getting a guy who
70:29instantly like day one is in a committee with Tuba Hubard coming off an injury that means you might have a a year-long
70:36starter.
70:38>> So, and the floor on him has just gone up and up and up and up and up. You know, I I'm not nearly nearly as
70:45concerned as I was about what the floor looks like.
70:50Godwin, top of the sidekick here, I'd be into that. We need a third receiver.
70:55>> Have not been able to >> like I like Godwin a lot. I feel like I haven't have not been able to to get a ton of
71:06him.
71:08>> Yeah, I'm starting to take a little bit more of him. We we've we've moved him up, you know, in the last like three
71:14weeks, but uh yeah, he fits the team really well here. Um going back to Dylan Samson, then we'll go back to to Woody Marks. Todd Monin on
71:25August 17th said, Dylan Samson is electric with a ball in his hands. So, how do we get that to him? I think over
71:34time he's going to be a guy that's a tough matchup. There's a lot to like there. The biggest thing is whether he
71:40can hold up in pass protection.
71:45>> Yeah, that that would be an interesting thing if Judkins is out there actually as the pass >> three down back.
71:51>> Yeah. O, >> that would be pretty big.
71:55>> Yeah, >> I'm thinking about becoming a Judkins Bull.
72:00You're >> a bull.
72:01>> Yeah, I'm a bull bull.
72:03>> I'm a bull bull.
72:04>> Yeah, you've heard of the basketball player bull. Well, I'm a bull bull.
72:08>> All right. Um, and then yeah, how much are you buying into the Mark stuff?
72:14>> Yeah, I uh man, they like we we've heard them talk about how he's making more decisive cuts. He it did like he did
72:24look better in that preseason game the other night against the Raiders. Now, some context there. This was the the second string defense on a team where
72:35the first string defense is like pretty bad. So like I don't want to put too much stock into like someone going to
72:43town on the Raiders backup defense.
72:46>> Yeah.
72:46>> Um but like they have been talking him up this this off season. So So it's like I don't know. It's it's one of
72:56those situations where I think like once the season gets here and we see them in action against like first stringers versus first stringers, it'll be like
73:05pretty clear that like Montgomery is a much better option to have out there, especially with this.
73:12>> He did look good. I will say, you know, watching the that run, you know, a touchdown, he looked pretty good.
73:18>> Yeah. Yeah. He looked quick. He looked decisive like like they've been saying.
73:22Um I I do think like they brought Montgomery in for a reason. They they they rested like four players the other
73:30night. It was Nico Collins, David McGomery, Will Anderson, and Denil Hunter. So like that speaks a lot, I think, for their for their plans for
73:40Montgomery. also really good um like man gap runner which is what Nick Kaye uh runs in his offense and kind of like
73:52transition towards that in the back half of last season and which goes in hand with the the like heavy personnel that
73:59that they want to run and then I think like kind of the obvious goal line option. Um, but you know, Woody Marks
74:07being good in pass pro and being like a third down back now like David McGomery very good as in the passing game and in pass pro, but like
74:17having another guy that's also good in the passing game and pass pro like that that does hurt a little bit.
74:24>> It does a bit. Yeah.
74:25>> Um, let's let's make our pick here. So, we've got Mahomes at the top of the sidekick here. than Bill. Bill's been
74:34someone we're both trying to get more of compared to where we were earlier. Uh man, Deshawn's dribbling sitting here at the top of ADP at 92 is kind of wild. Uh
74:44I'd be happy to take Mahomes here and and stack that up. Yeah, >> but we have if we wanted Bill ADP
74:53>> um you want to risk it? Take Bill here.
74:56Push Mahomes.
74:56>> All right, let's do it.
74:59>> Push pushing guys always works.
75:02Well, we've got >> I don't think it's worked for me once.
75:06>> Also, this guy out of the two-hole is like I mean, he could take dart. That would be that would be what saves us
75:13here.
75:15But he looks he looks a little leg up coded to me.
75:22>> Yeah. Yeah, he really does. Damn.
75:25>> Yeah, >> he's going home.
75:27>> So, I think I think we're looking at him home. He's doing a Top Guy Monday stream.
75:31>> He's just doing Mahomes dart. Yeah, we're not get There goes Mahomes.
75:36>> Well, you're over for a million.
75:41>> We're just means that we're due.
75:44>> Wow.
75:45>> Press it.
75:50>> There goes F. I think this guy's going to go dart.
75:55And then we're probably >> It's fine. I I I actually prefer Pertie to Momes. Interesting.
76:04I don't and certainly not with the stack, but yeah, >> I like Pertie.
76:13>> Possible we could get Dart if we wanted.
76:15He goes Lemon. This is He is very leg up. This is a leg up drafter. What's up, B Hippie?
76:24Um, would you be dart here or pretty?
76:30Oh man, I think I'm I'm I'm I'm usually pretty.
76:40I believe I'm usually pretty.
76:45All right, dart.
76:48Dart it is.
76:57We can stack him up later.
77:03Where should should we should we talk about his stack partner?
77:09>> Uh neighbors.
77:10>> No, that that that's still available in the >> the later later rounds.
77:16>> Malachi Fields. Yeah, I guess I mean he's a starter. Looks like it, right?
77:22>> Yeah. Looks looks like he'll be pretty locked in. Wide receiver too for them.
77:31Yeah.
77:33I don't know. Fields is one of these guys that I He's kind of quietly just become a starter, which is pretty impressive. I I
77:42just never there's some of these guys where you're like I don't I don't see them as a great prospect, but you know, look, we can be
77:52we can be wrong. These guys are rookies.
77:54That's kind of the whole point. We don't know how good they are and he could really surprise us. I I can kind of
78:00believe that in a lot of cases. Fields is one I really struggle. I'm just saying it. Like I don't think Fields is
78:06good. Really don't think Fields is good.
78:09So, I can pretend that I like have an open mind on Fields. I don't really I don't think Fields is good. And the fact
78:17that he's a starter probably says more about Darnell Mooney and Darius Sllayton than it does about him. But like I I I'm
78:25kind of dragging my my brain to like I think what is probably more correct, which is to genuinely have an open mind
78:32on a on a rookie who are in their starting role in training camp. like that does seem pretty bullish and so I'm
78:39with you that that we should strongly consider the back stack later.
78:45Yeah. Um I mean he's a good he's a good red zone body.
78:51Obviously not as good as Malik Neighbors in that in that area. Um but his like his blocking at the very least is is
79:00going to get him on the field. May maybe it's a situation where all right good >> like better NFL player than fantasy
79:09option.
79:12I think certainly >> Yeah, but with his ADP >> like may maybe >> Yeah, maybe. Yeah, you're right. I mean, and he he might just be better, you
79:23know, it he has like a thin kind of archetypal path, but not so thin, you know, that it couldn't possibly work.
79:32And it's similar to like Jacobe Lane in some ways, you know, the type of player that he is. Um, >> so we got Aaron Jones and Xavier Worthy
79:41and then Daltton Concincaid at the top here. We do have Bowers. So tight end's not a huge priority, but Concaid is a is
79:48a pretty big ADP folder here and he just goes. Um, then Worthy, who we could have had with Mahomes, man.
79:57>> Damn.
80:00Um, I mean Jones we could push around with his ADP. Yeah, let I would say worthy even without
80:08>> or or or we can go KD.
80:12>> Yeah, we could go KD. Uh, as you can see, he's not really popping, but I think he's going to play sooner.
80:21I'd rather go I'd rather go worthy.
80:24>> Yeah. on KD. I mean, we have him playing soon, you know, and and like very, you know, he's the week one stuff is trended
80:33pretty strongly towards him at least being like very live to play week one, if not playing week one. Um, I do think
80:41that coming off an Achilles tear at what 32 33 uh, I I don't think his ADP is is good.
80:50But, you know, maybe I'm maybe he's just that the the dude he was before he tore his Achilles. If he is, then the ADP is
80:58good.
80:59>> Yeah. Dr. Dr. Neil Elatra Atrace um seems very very happy with with how this recovery has gone, how he's looking
81:10right now.
81:14It's been I mean it's been a lot more positive than I would have thought. Um, I don't think the market's baking in
81:23much risk of him losing a step.
81:27>> Yeah.
81:28>> And I think there's a pretty big risk that he loses a step.
81:41All right. Yeah. Aaron Jones or or Baker for me.
81:46Let's see. So, if we go Let's >> What do we think?
81:50>> I'm almost tempted to go Baker with Godwin.
81:52>> Yeah.
81:52>> And just protect ourselves at quarterback a little bit.
81:54>> Let's do it.
81:56>> It's getting can get a little nuts with these QBs coming off the board in these rounds here. Yeah, we we have a lot of
82:04double-ups in this room where like Lamar with Goff, May with Herbert, the Allen drafter hasn't drafted a second, but and I guess the Daniels
82:15drafter hasn't drafted a second, but there's not like there, you know, I'm a little bit worried about some of these teams that
82:23like this guy doesn't have a quarterback that's on the clock now. M.
82:28>> And then with I think with Dart, like you definitely want to insulate yourself.
82:33>> Yeah.
82:33>> With some other QBs.
82:36>> Yeah. And I think there's some running backs that I like later now. So if we we I'm I just feel a little bit better
82:45about our ability to like if things if the draft room goes against us at running back, I think we'll be all
82:52right. If it goes against us at quarterback, it could get a little little more ugly. and Shuck goes to the to the Caleb Williams Lawrence drafter.
83:00So, that makes me feel better about the Baker pick, too, where this guy still doesn't have a quarterback. He's going to I mean, he's going to rely on these
83:09later dudes, three of them probably. So, >> he's going to have a Aaron Rogers, Gino Smith, Fernando Mendoza room, >> right? I mean, he might snipe us on
83:20Darnold coming back. Not that we necessarily need Darnold now, but uh you know, we could have been looking at, oh, we could push, we take Jones and
83:30then we could get Darnold in the 12th.
83:33Darnold might not make it back.
83:43>> Jordan Tyson and Jacobe Lane back to back. I >> know. It's interesting, right?
83:47>> August 24th.
83:53Oh man, how how affected are you mentally by when you take a bunch of a player early
84:04in drafting season like Deshawn Stribbling in the 180s, right? And you're just like loading up on this guy and then all of a sudden now he's going
84:14in in the like 80s, 90s, hundreds or whatever.
84:19>> Yeah. Yeah, I think with dribbling that he's an interesting one because he he rose up and people were like getting
84:25really excited and for a minute, you know, it's kind of like, all right, awesome. Like we we did it, you know, we
84:32were ahead on this guy and then you're like, no, no, people are like really excited and then it, you know, to the
84:38point we're like, yeah, well, they're really excited and right like we actually are now at risk of being too low on Deshawn's dribbling because of
84:47how bullish this is breaking. So like we we actually rather than patting ourselves on the back, we need to like proactively like be making sure we stay
84:55ahead of this as much as we can. And then I mean that's almost a month ago now. It now it's it's it it's gone. The the
85:04opportunity to get stribbling at anything close to a reasonable price is is pretty much over. Um I don't think he is someone that is a target in in the
85:1490s. Um, >> when the sidekick Mitchell top guy, you take Keith Mitchell.
85:21>> Um, and so yeah, I I think now I'm just sitting out on stribbling uh to close and
85:30uh let's see what did I end up with on DraftKings.
85:37I have I'm only at 8% dribbling, but I have uh him on like five five5s. It looks like >> 8% >> 8% on DraftKings.
85:48>> Um, but I've got but he's a pretty big part of my high stakes stuff.
85:54>> Uh, let me see.
85:55>> I think I must have a lot more on underdog. Let me see.
86:03>> And the flagship on DK. I've got 20%.
86:07>> We should have 8.1% cuz our first draft we forgot to take him. Do you remember that? remember that he wasn't like he
86:13wasn't even >> he didn't have an AP I'm I'm at 20% I'm at 20% on underdog so I've gotten gotten more of him there um
86:22>> yeah who who did we take there instead >> I don't Ted Hurst I think >> I don't think it was even Hurst I think
86:29it was like some >> it was probably Chris Brazzle knowing what Yeah man Brazzle Brazzle hurt
86:37>> yeah it did that that that injury really I think he I think he would have been good.
86:44Yeah, he was he was going to run a ton of routes. Ton of deep routes.
86:51>> So, we got Darnold and Willis at the top here as the quarterback three. We have Dart unstacked, Baker stacked with Godwin, and then
87:01Darnold with JSN does seem good to me.
87:03>> Let's do it.
87:06Maybe get a little Barnyard later.
87:09Oh yeah. Someone was making fun of me in the comments. They're like, "There's no player Pat loves more than AJ Barner."
87:15Talks about him every day. It's like, "Really? I've never I don't know if I've ever heard you talk about AJ Bar."
87:21>> It didn't It didn't occur to me that I've been talking about AJ Bar. There's players I know I talk about a lot, but
87:26they're not AJ Barner. Like, how much am I talking about AJ Barner?
87:30>> Really? Kind of like it was one of those ones where because it wasn't like um it didn't seem like he was like angry about
87:35it, you know? He just seemed like he's like, "Man, here goes Pat again talking." Always talking about AJ Barner.
87:44He's He's a really good click in the in the 180s.
87:50>> Yeah. The >> the one thing that Mike McDonald requested from Clint Kubak last year, which I imagine he requested from Brian
88:01Flurry this year, is AJ Barner tush push and we saw we saw some of it last year with Barner.
88:11Imagine we'll we'll see some more this year. And then just a good tight end.
88:18Gonna be on the field so much because of his blocking. He's also good in the pass game.
88:25Good good pick.
88:29He's a good pick. He's a starting tight end. Elijah Royo was a bad prospect. He had a cool senior bowl. He looked like
88:36he might be a way better route runner than he was in college, but he didn't produce in college. He did catch a a
88:43wideopen touchdown last night.
88:48>> Okay, good. Good for >> that. Doesn't move the the needle for you. A guy catching a wide openen touchdown in preseason.
88:54>> It doesn't >> against against the backups backups. The thing for me with like these these guys like Aoyo is I don't when I think when
89:04the when the stats basically point to a guy not being a good prospect, but he was drafted highly, that makes me more open-minded for the
89:13rookie year. But I I do struggle to keep that. And I I honestly don't think I should be particularly open-minded to a
89:20a guy who didn't produce in college, was drafted highly, and then was buried as a rookie. That's that's what bus look
89:28like, you know, like a lot a lot of bus look like that. So, I think Barner could be challenged by a
89:36Royo. There's still a chance, but uh I do think he's like pretty locked in.
89:42We got Travis Hunter here at the top of the sidekick, uh as Scott intended.
89:48>> That that number two there looking pretty good to me.
89:51>> All right, let's let's take your guy.
89:57the psychic.
89:58>> So, you win a draft right there.
89:59>> What's going on with the psychic? Keaton Mitchell and Jaylen McMillan.
90:02>> I did a little >> before before the stream started. I hacked into the the main frame. You guys should really change your password from
90:11password.
90:13No, it's password one, two, three. Oh, change it.
90:23Yeah. Uh we uh we had Hunter falling here a little bit.
90:29>> You missed it recommending Terren Ferguson in the second round earlier.
90:34>> I have I've I've got Terence Ferguson as well recently.
90:37>> Hell yeah.
90:38>> He pops up. you know, Terrence Ferguson.
90:40One of the things with some of the alt formats is that we do see these guys pop up in ways that where and some of the
90:47some of the players, you know, it's it's kind of fun like a Ferguson. If you if you literally just care about scoring
90:53the most points in like a week randomly, Ferguson does seem we seem to like the Sims seem to like Ferguson. You know,
91:00you've got on those teams you have probably Puka and Stafford, you know, maybe even Cororum, something like that.
91:08It's like, yeah, the Rams go nuts one week. Ferguson is like pretty live to be a part of that. Um, so
91:16>> you do get a little Ferguson.
91:18>> I have not seen him go even close to his ADP for like weeks now in drafts that I'm in.
91:26>> Oh, I I still I still get I got him in the 190s the other like like last week.
91:31>> I would Ferguson. Jesus. I guess I guess. I mean, >> oh my god, he goes like >> I feel nothing. I'm not happy.
91:42>> I'd be doing back flips, transitioning to cartwheels. I' I'd have a pom horse set up right here.
91:52I'd be on the I'd be on the kitchen island doing doing pomor tricks >> for 19.
91:56>> I might take Nick Singleton, but >> get the [ __ ] out of here.
92:04Uh, we got Cooper and Barner at the top here.
92:07>> I think I think I'd be Barnyard Dog here.
92:09>> All right, let's go Barnyard Dog and then Cooper could come back. Cooper >> could >> uh ADP right at our next pick.
92:19>> So, we got two tight ends. We got Bowers.
92:21>> Two tight ends. Barner >> Bowers in the Barnyard.
92:24>> Sounds like a morning radio show.
92:26>> Yeah.
92:27>> Bowers in the barnyard. Oh, call us up if you want to if you want us to prank call your boss.
92:43How many How many people do you think have gotten fired?
92:47>> Such a thing.
92:52>> Oh man, imagine Bowers in the barnyard dog prank calling your boss. Ah, like you probably should get fired for that.
93:03>> That speaks to a lot of lack of critical thinking.
93:08>> Let me go ahead and play a mean trick on the person who signs my paychecks.
93:12>> Yeah.
93:17>> When do you start to IKB to build out a more even portfolio or you just ride the Sims all the way? I You don't have to
93:22IKB to build out an even portfolio.
93:24That's the way that we built I mean, there's obviously guys that we have big stands on, but um some of the guy like
93:31st like stribbling, like I said, I have I'm at 8% on DraftKings on stribbling, 20% on underdog. But, uh you know, if I
93:39if you would add made me guess what my exposure was going to be on DraftKings in June on Stribbling, I've been like, I
93:45don't know, 30%. But he just like moved up. I didn't I still have more volume to get down on DraftKings to go, so I have
93:53fewer earlier drafts on that. That's that kind of explains that discrepancy and um think the guys you're right on the prices get away from you. So,
94:04>> you know, it's more like the guys where then they fall uh where you're already overweight like a hunter or something.
94:11So, with Hunter, we're trying to bake in that he is falling and trying to ask for a little bit more of a discount. Uh so,
94:19that's kind of how it goes. But even then, like we're we're baking that into the sidekick. have, you know, if a guy
94:24is clearly falling in drafts, we try to we try to tell the Sims that so that you know that that player is actually
94:29probably available past his ADP.
94:32Uh but yeah, not not IKBing a ton for portfolio reasons.
94:39I was having a conversation in the in the Discord a couple days ago about like how how plus EV do you think it might be
94:48to like if you just did all of your drafts in May when you've got Debo, Stefan Diggs,
94:59um Keenan Allen, like these guys who who you who you're like pretty sure are going to be playing this season, especially Debo and
95:06>> and Diggs. uh on the clock here.
95:10>> Um >> so we got Caleb Douglas popping. We got Aton if we want to go for a third tight end on the Bowowers build. Uh
95:18>> I think I'd be more into like Sadique.
95:22>> Okay. Yeah, we could do Sadique. I don't mind. having I think having Bowers there especially like early season right if it
95:29if it takes a while for Sadi >> to get going but they're just like slobbering over this guy >> over Sadique
95:39>> yeah like what a >> I haven't heard much about him lately because thing I mean pri prior to the sportier thing but like Glenn talking
95:46about like my god what a huge weapon this guy is and like Frank Reich same thing like what a huge weapon he is and
95:52talking about >> want to do a bunch bunch of heavy personnel and get Sadique at the F and and that kind of stuff. Um, but yeah,
96:01like how how plus EV it would be to just be drafting a shitload of Jonathan
96:10Brooks in the 130s, DVO in the 180s, Steph Diggs in the 150s, right? Like obviously you have less information, but I think but but but this whole like
96:22getting more information >> stuff usually plays more into kind of like the final rounds, right? To make sure that you're not getting zeros with
96:31guys who end up being RB4s or whatever.
96:33But if you're using those final rounds as okay, I'm doing like late tight end kind of builds, right? and you're get
96:42and you're getting these like tight ends who are who who are going to be on the field a lot and and and like building pretty decent
96:50tight end rooms there like I feel like just looking back apps.leendaryupside.com.
96:59>> Yeah, man. can go look back at your >> at your May >> drafts. Like I've got I have I have
97:06insane drafts from May that like >> you can't get anything close to that now.
97:13>> Yeah, it's true. It's true. I think uh where Xavier Hutchinson going is interesting after the booty trade. Um >> I still see Jaden Higgins going off in
97:22like every draft.
97:24>> Yeah, good point.
97:26Uh and Tank Dell one here at 1410. He he's he's significantly hurt by that.
97:31>> Uh Ridley's top of the sidekick. Then Atten still stacked still. I think the fight weak guy >> here.
97:38>> Branch. What about Hurst if we're IKBN off to uh >> So we'd have Hurst, McMillan, and Godwin.
97:45>> Yeah, we can go Branch if you if you prefer.
97:50>> Yeah, I I think Hurst could come back.
97:53>> All right.
98:05All right. So, we're through round 17 now. Currently looking at uh quarterbacks Jackson Dart, Baker Mayfield, and Sam Darnold. We got the
98:16Darnold stack with JSN. We got Baker with Godwin and McMillan. We got Dart still unstacked, but that could get taken care of in the the final round
98:26here or so. Um, oh, we have Barner as well, of course, with uh with Darnold.
98:32At running back, we've got DeAndre Swift, Quinnon Judkins, Raandre Stevenson, and Jakori Kroski Merritt.
98:38Uh, oh, and Katon Mitchell. Uh, little luxury running back pick there. Then wide receiver, we got six so far. JSN,
98:48Rashi Rice, Chris Godwin, Xavier Worthy, Jaylen McMillan, and Zachariah Branch.
98:55Uh, probably tacking on few more wide receivers. Maybe even another tight end.
98:59I mean, it if Autton gets back all the way at 212, I'd be fine with him as a fourth tight end even with Bowers. Your
99:06your tight end too doesn't come until round 15. I think that's totally fine.
99:11It's not like we're spending a ton of capital. to your point on drafting the Lake Titans in May, I think, you know,
99:18there's still some utility to to using these roster spots on guys who are going to score points even though we have more
99:23information than we did then. Um, by the way, on the May point, like I do I do think that, you know, largely if you're
99:33if you're the type of drafter who's going to load up on May drafts with the idea that you're going to draft players
99:38who are going to rise significantly, I think you do. that type of mentality is going to lead to some Iayuk. It's going
99:46to lead to some Tyreek Hill, you know, and like the kind of like there's like a risk seeking element to being like I'm
99:55the guy who drafts in May that I think actually you do you're going to draft a lot of dead teams. Um, you you have to
100:02you'd have to approach it with like some real humility to it where you're like, I'm going to take these tight ends in
100:08the final rounds that >> I'm out then if we're drafting with humility >> cuz you're going to you're it's like it
100:15doesn't when you think about in May when you think about what the wins look like, it doesn't look like Keenan Allen
100:20signing as a as a 11 personnel receiver in Indianapolis. I don't think like that's not why you're like I'm drafting in May because I'm going to get Debo
100:29Samuel and he's going to have kind of like a like a a like a like a shadow version of what he
100:36used to have for Kyle Shanahan back in the day. He's going to be he's going to be draft where did he go
100:45in this draft? Yeah.
100:48Uh DVO went at the 1104.
100:54Like I'm going to get this guy in the 17th round. He's going to be in the 11th round. It's not that sexy. I I think
101:00it's pretty sexy if you're getting a lot of those. And >> it's sexy now.
101:03>> I drafted >> Yeah, I drafted a good amount in May. I took zero Brandon Aayuk. I took >> Well, I I have drafted one Tyreek Hill
101:12team, but that was with Davis on accident where where we timed out.
101:19Well, it sounds like you nailed it and I completely agree that like stacking those types of wins is massive and I'm
101:25not trying to I'm not trying to undercut that. I think that is big. I do think that there's like a if you're going to
101:31like Greg crush it in May, then you need to Ted Hurst, you need to be willing to like what you're trying to create is is
101:43a parlay of smaller wins as opposed to like home run after home run because if you chase the home runs in May, you're
101:50going to find big old zeros on those teams.
101:55>> I don't I don't know. I don't know about like which which which home runs are zeros.
102:05>> Aayuk.
102:07>> Yeah.
102:09>> Aayuk was like held up as the home run, >> but he was I mean he was kind of clear early early
102:17in the offseason that like a little a little off.
102:22>> I thought so, but that's not the way it was drafted. If you looking for home runs in May, he would have been like
102:29>> like a he would have been a one seed, >> you know.
102:37>> Man, I think I'm I would like Coler, but I think I think Baitman is a really good pick in the in the final two rounds
102:44right now.
102:46>> Well, we have Do we have Did Fields go?
102:50>> I'm imagining he went off.
102:52>> I Kar's not He's not free anymore. You gotta You gotta do it.
102:56>> Okay. Sure.
102:58>> Uh yeah, I think I think we missed out on the field stack. Yeah, we did.
103:02>> Justin Fields just stack stack up Justin Fields with Jackson Tart.
103:11I just think there are so many like the market is still bad about recognizing
103:22the great values.
103:24>> I think you're right.
103:25>> Like Jonathan Bro, >> we're both we're both saying that >> value. So So it's not it's not even about like oh I'm going to get good CLV
103:33on this. It's it's I'm drafting a guy in the 17th round who's going to hit my lineup a lot and in the 18th round and in the 19th,
103:44right? Like I got a lot of Terren Ferguson. We got a lot of Marshon Lloyd.
103:49>> Yeah. in the final rounds. Just like situations that were that were not really that murky, but people were like some of it is people are just a
104:01little bit hesitant like they're they're waiting for the market to move for the market to tell them that it's okay to
104:08take this player in this range. And I want to be ahead of that. I want to be leading the charge on that. And I think
104:15a lot of the coach speak that we were getting early early in the offseason like helps provide that huge edge like
104:22Canal is talking about Brooks and like how good he's looking and how he's going to be competing for uh for a starting role there
104:32>> Greg Dol right like he was going in the final rounds. My sweet spot I just from drafting myself, I don't May is is tough
104:42for me because I don't feel like I have enough information sometimes. My The sweet spot that I really like to hammer
104:47volume is kind of June and July when you and I think someone asked when Sam drafted his winning team. I think it was
104:56late June. I drafted my winning team in >> I think this was like June 1st.
105:00>> Oh, was it early June? Okay.
105:02>> Yeah, >> mine was July 14th, I think.
105:06Um, but you get Baitman just goes, "That's a bummer."
105:13>> Anyone here jump out to you?
105:15>> No.
105:18>> 20th round, man.
105:20>> Not really. Uh, maybe Sllayton.
105:27>> I guess we can go Sllayton.
105:31Look how long. Look how far we had to go. Brennan Thompson. We could do. Sure.
105:37A I missed it. They took Slayton.
105:41Now the thing is you can't remove Brennan Thompson. So when this team finishes second and Brennan Thompson has a big week 17.
105:50>> Oh no.
105:51>> We'll know. We'll know that we could have won it.
105:54>> Unbelievable.
105:55>> All right. So the team's in the books.
105:58Um but yeah, I think I think on the uh Yeah, July was great for Pat, Brian, and Lane. Yeah, >> it's like running with those early
106:06comments really worked. That's to me when we get >> Oh, yeah. July 18th.
106:11>> Yeah. H hold on though. Pat Pat Bryant um if I think I think the comments on him like much earlier like yes, we got
106:20we got this recent stuff, but there were there was already like good coach speak on Pat Bryant like >> end of last season heading into early.
106:31>> There was this off seasonason. Like I I got up to like 30% Pat Bryant of just like smashing him. Like one of those
106:38things where where I'm taking him in the final rounds and like man this I think this guy's such a great pick in the
106:44final round but also like I'll be devastated if this guy gets hurt and I end up with like >> 50% of him. So trying to kind of like
106:55temper temper myself there.
106:57>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No, I think there's there's clearly an edge to drafting in May. It's just it requires a certain um
107:06which again it sounds like you crushed, but it's >> Well, I got a lot of Eli Sters, too.
107:11>> Well, I have a lot of Eli Stars as well.
107:15Apparently, as far as power twinks go, he's he's not powerful enough.
107:19>> No, he's just a twink.
107:22>> I thought I was going to power twink.
107:24It's just a twink.
107:27I'm imagining the Michael Scott. It's happening meme, but but instead of it's happening it's >> it's not happening.
107:32>> He's just a twink.
107:34>> Yeah, >> we were promised a power twink.
107:38>> All right, I got to get out of here.
107:40Let's uh let's tell people what we got going on uh to close out August. Greg, it's it's it's damn near the season.
107:48>> This is about it. CoachSpeak Index uh CoachSpeak Index Discord. I just took all the coach reliability ratings off the website. They are exclusively in the
107:59Discord now. Um, come get all your notes, all the reliability ratings. Uh, also going to be streaming with Rotoat,
108:07Patrick Dhy on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
108:11Eastern.
108:12>> Beautiful. I'm going to be streaming with Rotoat this week as well on I think Friday. We've got to figure out exactly
108:19if it's Thursday or Friday, but I'll be uh streaming one of those days with him.
108:23That's fair is moving to Wednesday this week for scheduling reasons with Sam Sherman. I'll be back tomorrow for Top Guy Tuesday, drafting the uh I'm going
108:33to jump in one of these drafts, I think.
108:35Maybe a 555 actually. We'll see. Um but either way, be drafting tomorrow uh with the sidekick taking the top recommendation, which allows me time to
108:44just answer questions from the chat and from the legup Discord. So, that's that's the uh the weekly mailbag show.
108:49Check that out. Uh and then tomorrow night at 700 p.m. Eastern be drafting a high stakes FFPC main event team with
108:59the ADP chasing crew. Uh Shop has been furiously messaging us saying we need to have a draft plan and so far there is
