AJ Barner

NegativeSleeper34:24

Tight end prospect positioned as a later-round target in 2025 draft; Bob Harris and Matt Waldman discuss that if you don't pursue top-tier tight ends early, you may get "more of the Tucker Kraft, Tyler Warren, AJ Barner types" instead, but risk being "a year or two too early" on these prospects, suggesting they may not produce immediately or could be passed over for newer prospects in future years.

Insight page

Demond Claiborne

NegativeProjection7:23

Demond Claiborne was drafted in round two at pick 208. The selection is presented as an endorsement of the Rookie Scouting Portfolio rankings, reflecting the drafter's commitment to best-available-player strategy from RSP.

Insight page

Hakeem Butler

PositiveBreakout26:15

Bob Harris believes Hakeem Butler is an NFL-caliber talent despite his USFL background with the St. Louis Battlehawks. Harris acknowledges documented drop issues in college but views his sustained high-level play, continued NFL flirtations, and demonstrated talent as justifiable evidence of legitimate upside. Harris's perspective is that college production limitations don't always predict professional viability, and Butler's career trajectory demonstrates he possesses legitimate talent that has translated to sustained playing time and NFL interest.

Insight page

Joe Flacco

PositiveSleeper28:47

Bob Harris rates Joe Flacco (Connecticut) as a 'feel it' prospect with solid mechanics, pocket movement, and drop work; inconsistent throwing motion but accurate when on point with good arm talent and size. Harris projects that if Flacco secures a practice squad spot and develops over 2-3 years, he could become a compelling backup or journeyman starter, citing Aidan O'Connell as a recent comparable who lacked high draft capital but later got a starting audition.

Insight page

Jordyn Tyson

NegativeInjury7:56

Jordan Tyson's recent workout tape shows elite movement skills and a 'human joystick' profile, and he is currently healthy. However, his game tape reveals unevenness when forced to think and adjust on the fly—the workout tape is rehearsed practice against air with no tight coverage, not game tape. Movement mechanics raise injury concerns: landing patterns are flat-footed and heel-heavy, with leg and foot mechanics creating stress on ligaments and tendons that may explain his injury history. Bob Harris compares him to an untested race car before proper tuning, suggesting injury risk could limit upside unless movement patterns are corrected off-field. Harris cautions against overanalyzing a single highlight play; the fantasy community has spent disproportionate time on one particular play rather than conducting comprehensive film evaluation over months of tape.

Insight page

Josh Cameron

NegativeProjection7:23

Josh Cameron was drafted in round four at pick 408. The selection is presented as an endorsement of the Rookie Scouting Portfolio rankings, reflecting the drafter's commitment to best-available-player strategy from RSP.

Insight page

Marvin Harrison Jr.

NegativeRole28:19

Bob Harris jokingly suggests the Arizona Cardinals might take 4 years to figure out Marvin Harrison Jr., implying concern about the Cardinals' historically slow receiver development timeline and potential delayed target opportunity for the young receiver despite his draft pedigree. Harris's comment references Michael Wilson's 4-year development arc with Arizona, suggesting similar delays could affect Harrison Jr.'s early-career fantasy value.

Insight page

Matthew Golden

PositiveBreakout32:07

Bob Harris rates Matthew Golden as a 'feel it' prospect capable of fulfilling his draft value despite year-one production shortfall. Harris emphasizes patience is warranted given Green Bay's multi-spot receiver usage and the fact that multiple receivers already had rapport with Jordan Love. Harris believes Golden will find a role and become more productive as his career unfolds, noting he remains a good football player and prospect.

Insight page

Michael Trigg

PositiveValue6:41

Michael Trigg was drafted at pick 308 (near the fourth round) in a tight-end premium league. He's one of the most boom-bust early-round tight ends available with real upside. While Harris notes Trigg would not have passed the Bob Harris-Mason Taylor gauntlet test—a reference to his inconsistent hands, catching difficult passes while dropping easy ones—getting him near the fourth round represents acceptable value given his upside potential.

Insight page

Michael Wilson

NegativeRole28:08

Michael Wilson took the Arizona Cardinals 4 years to develop into a target-worthy receiver, illustrating the Cardinals' historically slow timeline for integrating wide receivers into their offense and setting context for similar development curves with other Arizona receivers.

Insight page

Oscar Delp

PositiveProjection14:09

Oscar Delp, a 6'5", 245-lb tight end from Georgia, is evaluated as a potential top-three producer in a compressed tight end class. Bob Harris identifies him as a potential Tucker Kraft-type: a strong open-field runner who can block reasonably well and could be deployed in dump-off and leak routes as a speed-based bulldozer. However, Delp's path to fantasy value depends on proving he can handle hard contact at the catch point and secure the ball; Harris observed insufficient instances of this skill in tape review, with drops occurring on contested catches. Delp may need to add muscle to replicate his SEC blocking prowess at the NFL level. The tight end class uncertainty—whether teams deploy more 12 and 13 personnel—could either limit or maximize his value depending on offensive scheme adoption.

Insight page

Rashee Rice

NegativeRole17:10

Bob Harris characterizes Rashee Rice as a construct of the Kansas City offense rather than a well-rounded talent, suggesting his fantasy value is scheme-dependent. Harris notes Rice's 5-yard average depth of target and expresses concern that the Chiefs' complex offensive system limits receiver development. The addition of KC Conceicao may keep Rice relevant, but Harris views Reid's receiver acquisitions as historically disappointing for fantasy purposes.

Insight page

Tucker Kraft

NegativeSleeper34:24

Tight end prospect positioned as a later-round target in 2025 draft; Bob Harris and Matt Waldman discuss that if you don't pursue top-tier tight ends early, you may get "more of the Tucker Kraft, Tyler Warren, AJ Barner types" instead, but risk being "a year or two too early" on these prospects, suggesting they may not produce immediately or could be passed over for newer prospects in future years.

Insight page

Ty Simpson

PositiveProjection4:00

Bob Harris drafted Ty Simpson at pick 108 (first round, eighth pick) in a superflex dynasty league. Harris ranks Simpson higher on his board than Cam Ward was ranked last year, though he doesn't love Simpson as a prospect overall. Simpson is very likely to be a first-round NFL draft pick with draft capital in his favor. Harris believes Simpson could land with the Arizona Cardinals or another team with sufficient surrounding talent, where he'd have a realistic path to being the starter within 1-2 years. Harris is comfortable taking him at the back end of the first round despite preferring other players.

Insight page

Tyler Warren

NegativeSleeper34:24

Tight end prospect positioned as a later-round target in 2025 draft; Bob Harris and Matt Waldman discuss that if you don't pursue top-tier tight ends early, you may get "more of the Tucker Kraft, Tyler Warren, AJ Barner types" instead, but risk being "a year or two too early" on these prospects, suggesting they may not produce immediately or could be passed over for newer prospects in future years.

Insight page

Zachariah Branch

NegativeValue21:12

Branch faced a minor legal incident in Athens involving a sidewalk altercation outside a club that resulted in a $39 bail. Matt Waldman dismisses it as unlikely to materially impact draft capital unless there are additional undisclosed layers of legal trouble. Waldman contextualizes the incident as potentially vague police reporting involving a young officer during late-night weekend enforcement, noting his experience with Athens police reports involving students often lack clarity about what actually occurred.

0:00And here we are. Days away. The NFL draft coming on Thursday night. We'll continue to sit here and feel and [ __ ]
0:08things as we prepare to sort through all the nonsense that's going to be spouted over the coming days. It will get thick.
0:14It will get deep. None of it will matter, but on Thursday night the truth will be told with the expenditure of
0:20draft capital and the the sighting of names. We'll know everything. It'll be fantastic. And we'll dig into that, but still plenty of time for speculation.
0:28Still plenty of time for you to get more Matt Waldman in the form of the rookie scouting portfolio. Also, I I was
0:36looking at the list. What do you you've been on like 24,000 podcasts in the last 2 weeks.
0:42>> Yeah, well, you know, I mean, things happen. I guess that's you know, it's nice to it's nice to be put in that
0:48situation. That's for sure. So, I'm not going to complain about it. You know, if they want to have me on, I'm going to
0:53I'm going to show up and then, you know, then we do the real stuff over here. You know, while Bloom Bloom over here calls
1:00me this morning tells me he was he had his proudest draft analyst moment in history cuz he wagged the dog um
1:07apparently when it came to uh talking about a trade that he thought he was being satirical about, but then suddenly now there's actual legitimate
1:16negotiations [snorts] to what it was cuz apparently Chris Fowler picked up something that Bloom joked about and then he went back to say, "I'm joking."
1:24And then somebody contacted him and said, "No, actually now there's some serious stuff going on." Um so, we're going to we're going to claim it as
1:31Bloom wagging the dog. That's how ridiculous this all gets. You and I and Bloom, we will all be sitting on the football guys, the
1:39Audible channel for some period of time Thursday night. I'll be on Sirius uh Thursday night from 11:00 to 1:00, Friday night from 11:00 to 1:00.
1:47Probably joined by Mr. Matt Waldman.
1:49I'll be on Saturday from 4:00 to 7:00.
1:52And Sunday I'll be doing a post draft draft hosting and drafting in the draft.
1:56So, uh check all that out if you're so inclined. Also, check out any of those 24,000 podcasts. I say 24,000 cuz it
2:04seems like it. If you listen to them all, it's [ __ ] endless. Um but, if you're really keeping track, It's a Waldman marathon. If you're
2:11really keeping track, it's like 24. Go to your RSP email inbox and you'll find the full listing of them Yeah. with links to all
2:18those that have been uh released and probably some have been released since then. Uh the small handful. So, all right, Matt. Let's start feeling some
2:25some stuff as we head into the draft. So, I took uh considerable heat considerable heat from the aforementioned Sigmund Bloom. Uh I'm in
2:34a dynasty league. It's a it's a fairly interesting dynasty league where we draft superflex and we draft before the NFL draft. That's been part of the deal.
2:44Scott Barrett from uh Fantasy Points is the instigator of this nonsense. And uh a bunch of us some but fairly big name
2:52people. It's a tough crowd, right? Uh drafting this. And so, uh I had the 108.
2:59Uh And again, it's a superflex. My current roster features uh some pretty decent quarterbacks. One you might have heard of named Josh Allen. One you might
3:07have heard of named Jordan Love. Another one that I drafted last year, Tyler Shuck. I also have Davis Mills, but I
3:13like to be well stocked on quarterbacks.
3:15So, I get to the 108. I guess this is the thing. Theo Gramlich, who's also in this league. I mentioned the heavy
3:20hitters, Matthew Berry, Barrett, T.J.
3:22Calkins, Pat Thorman. It's a rough crowd. Um Rich Reebar. So, you know, I like to not get caught short because when I we started this league, I had my
3:33first quarterback was Andrew Luck, who I drafted shortly before he retired.
3:38Suddenly. So, maybe I have some some fears of missing out. But, also, I talked about this with Alan Ceslowski on the fan SiriusXM Fantasy Sports radio
3:48show that he does on the Dynasty show saying I would do this. And so, I did this.
3:53I drafted Ty Simpson with the 108. Uh first round, eighth pick. Um a little context this has always been a quarterback heavy
4:03draft. Malik Willis was the 101 the year he came out. So, that kind of gives you an idea.
4:09>> Uh Mendoza went three, 103 this year.
4:11Love, Tate, Mendoza. Okay. So, uh Theo Gramlich threw this out here for comment. Sigmund Bloom's comment was "Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope." Four "nopes"
4:22all caps.
4:24Do I Do I deserve maybe only three "nopes"? Feel or [ __ ] it.
4:27>> [laughter] >> I'd give you two.
4:31I'd give you two. That's fair. You know, cuz on the one hand, listen, from a standpoint of that is it likely that Ty
4:38Simpson's going to be a first round pick? Very likely. So, draft capital's playing in his favor. Is it possible that he goes to a team where he could
4:46wind up being the starter for the next year and a half, 2 years, even out the gate?
4:52That's also likely. Um Is it Is it looking likely that the that the Arizona Cardinals might be in contention for him? Um If they don't
5:03trade with the Chiefs, apparently, um then the answer is probably yes. And if he gets that, he's got some skilled talent around him to be able to do some
5:13work. Um So, while I don't love Ty Simpson as a prospect, he's he was higher on my board than Cam
5:23Ward was last year just by a little bit.
5:26They're just guys that I believe need surrounding talent and a and um you know, they need surrounding talent to thrive and to be able to grow. And I
5:37think that the Cardinals have just enough that you could feel comfortable with him. I mean, is it kind of a kind of a Viking situation with the with
5:47the Michigan quarterback and McCarthy, you know? It's kind of like that. But, I I don't think there's anything wrong with taking him at the back end of the
5:56first round even if I would prefer other players. Right.
6:01>> I don't have a problem with it. Right. I would acknowledge that, you know, I was rolling the dice a bit, but I think we
6:05tend to do this in this league not knowing where people are going to land in general. Uh the the people off the
6:09board immediately after him, Jahmyr Gibbs, Eli Stove, Omar Cooper, Denzel Boston. I don't know that, you know, like in this and I you know, I won't get
6:18into the full context rosters, but I'm pretty well stocked at at the other positions. Jahmyr Gibbs, Jaxon Smith-Njigba. You know, so I'm you know,
6:26like I'm not looking for top end play and No, but you've got elevated you quarterback's elevated value in that league. Right. And the players that you
6:33just mentioned are high floor players.
6:36>> Right. Yeah. And what what other thing too, it's it's this is a tight end premium league. So, that's of interest.
6:41I got Michael Trigg in the at the 308.
6:44Michael Trigg.
6:46Big future in the NFL. Feel or [ __ ] it.
6:48He's probably one of the most boom-bust of the early round tight ends available.
6:53Um he would not have passed the Bob Harris-Mason Taylor >> No. test in the gauntlet. You know, as we've talked about in the past
7:01throughout the past year.
7:03Well, he would on a good day or on a good moment. He might actually make he he might have on on the gauntlet, you
7:10could imagine where he caught all the inaccurate [snorts] passes, but dropped all the easy ones. He can kind of be that way. Right. There's
7:16real upside to him. And the fact that you're getting him near the fourth round, um I'm okay with that. Yeah, I
7:22>> It's a little risky, but it's all right.
7:23I'm just to feel it out cuz I know people love these kind of things. Uh Demond Claiborne in round two with the
7:28208. And I got Josh Cameron uh in 408.
7:32The Yes, uh the drafting of those players is an advertisement and endorsement of the rookie scouting portfolio.
7:38>> You are a Baylor guy. Look at you. I'm the RSP guy.
7:42>> Oh, okay.
7:43>> [laughter] >> It's pretty simple at this point. I'm getting the best players available in my RSP rankings. There you go. Uh as we
7:50head into the Like, when you're drafting without any knowledge of where the team's going, it's >> Sure. it's a fun thing. I Jordan Tyson
7:56yesterday. I saw the videos he posted from his workout.
8:00Human joystick is not hyperbolic. I mean, this guy has moves on top of moves. Uh is this an accurate reflection of his tape? But, not an accurate
8:10reflection of his of his game tape, but possibly of his game play ability. Feel or [ __ ] it. This is probably one of the
8:16more complex conversations we're going to have today. And I think it's a fun one to have because the workout tape in itself,
8:25my first impression, especially after seeing everybody else weighing on their impressions, was this.
8:30Um Okay.
8:33Right.
8:33>> He's running against air. He ran a fade route with basically one dude like in the playing the flat defender and he
8:40runs you know, he runs that little move to the inside on like what's basically a whip route and then breaks it up up the
8:48boundary for a fade. But, there's nobody covering.
8:51>> one. Yeah. Well, here's the thing. Oh, the second one? Yeah. But, here's the thing. When I watch the moves, um
9:02clearly he's healthy right now, so that's good. That's a positive.
9:06The other positive is that when he that at least in a situation where he's not having to read a defense, he knows what
9:16he's going to run right away and not something where he's adjusting on the fly. When he runs the route, it has a
9:23really good caliber of movement skills with it. And you can see why people love are enamored with his movement skills.
9:33They're fantastic, okay? So, that's great. The the suddenness and patience factor really isn't going to apply to this drill because it again, he's not
9:43facing tight man coverage. He was facing, you know, in a lot of these situations. And it's and it's rehearsed.
9:49So, you really want to see how he reacts when he thinks about things cuz when he's forced to think, that's when things
9:56become an uneven with his game. So, I haven't learned anything new about that or if I have it's that he's showcasing
10:05some things that he corrected and has gotten better at since his game tape.
10:10But again, it's not game tape, it's practice tape. It's it's you know, so there's that. Then there's the other avenue that I've kind of talked about
10:20being somewhat concerned about and it's it's injury. He's had a lot of injuries look at how he's moving and when I
10:28listen to movement coaches or injury specialist talk about mechanisms that generate injury, some of the things he did on that tape actually
10:39lend to maybe why he gets hurt because he's landing flat-footed. There's some mechanisms where he's maybe more on his heel. There's mechanisms about how he
10:51moves his his feet and his legs that maybe put extra stress on ligaments and tendons that they shouldn't and so then
11:00you start to go, okay, I'm not an expert in this area but I've seen enough experts talk about it and looking at
11:07this and I also look at how other top route runners move and you could say he's you know, I can I've seen some movement
11:14coaches who I respect say, look, he's one of one in terms of what he does here but then I'm also thinking but are they
11:21injury specialists and they're looking at the result not the the process of the movement and I think that when you look
11:28at the process of the movement, there's some concern. So, nothing's changed to me about what we just saw. If anything, I'm just like
11:36it's still a boom-bust situation for this guy. So, I'm injury agnostic and you're you know, just to acknowledge you're lower on him than the field. I
11:44think and he seems to be gaining some buzz like in your rankings and you know, saying anything but but there are a lot
11:51of people who are you know, and especially in light of these videos who are who are going gaga over him. I'll
11:57say this he you know, the the thing you said is the thing I thought of. I try to be injury agnostic. I think you know,
12:02injuries you know, are isolated things but in this case you look at him and I talk a lot about the physics of the game
12:09where like you know, there are just forces and velocities and things that are created that are immutable, right?
12:15And and you mentioned the tendons and ligaments and things and yes, you can add to the elasticity of those things but they're still made of tendons and
12:22ligaments. These guys work out and do all these things get bigger get buffer get stronger. Those are still made of the same stuff, right? And as much as
12:29you can work on that and try to add to the elasticity of them uh you know, there has to be boundaries at some
12:35point. I just watching that video I said, he is testing those boundaries.
12:39So, uh that that may be you know, it's like having the dragster, you know, it goes up and down the strip a couple
12:44times and then you got to take it in and put a new motor in it, right? It just you know, I I do have that concern about
12:50and and probably it was added to after that and that's even with me trying to be injury agnostic. I think he's going
12:56to go very early. I don't think people are going to care uh and I don't know that the workouts tapes you know, change
13:02what was going to happen. It seems like this momentum was building before that but he certainly didn't do anything to slow down said momentum.
13:10>> Now, if we can find an equivalent of a Ken Miles to work on this race car, we might actually we might have
13:16something amazing here in Jordan Tyson but I feel like he's the he's that Ford race car before Ken Miles got to work on
13:23it and that's what I'm a little bit worried about when it comes to Tyson but but yeah, I mean still I mean very
13:30talented could obviously be wide receiver one before it's all said and done but I think that there's some there's there's more flash than
13:39substance right now with what's going to get him to that wide receiver one value and a lot of it's going to have to take
13:47place behind the scenes in terms of getting his body in the right shape to be able to withstand the forces or to
13:54change how he exerts those forces to do the job. So, yeah, I mean fascinating player for sure, you know, if you like
14:02the leaping in the air thing, there are a lot of people that did not like that.
14:05I've honestly it was unnecessary for the the play.
14:09>> Sure. You know, those types of things.
14:10Some of this there's a little bit of Hollywood going on with this that particular play but if you're analyzing this, you're way too [ __ ] late about
14:19what you should be analyzing with Jordan Tyson because people have spent more time on we spent more time on this particular thing than we did on all the
14:28actual analysis work that's done on this guy for months, you know, so that's that's kind of the irony of all of this.
14:36All right, Oscar Delp tight end in Georgia. Nice size 6'5 245.
14:43My feeling is this tight end class is very compressed and there is a bunch of guys who might be good. How
14:49good might Oscar Delp be? Could he be a top three producer? Feel it or [ __ ] it?
14:53>> Totally feeling it. I mean the only thing considering his weight needs a little bit more muscle so that he can
14:58show us show up as well as he did in the SEC as a blocker and I think that he can do that. Um and also he's going to have
15:06to show a little bit more toughness at the catch point where he's taking hard contact and he can hold on to the ball.
15:13I just didn't see enough instances of where he could do that and the ones that I did see he dropped the ball. Um so,
15:20you know, he's normally reliable pass catcher outside of hard contact but if he's going to ascend to be one of the
15:27you know, a really good NFL starter a fantasy value, he's going to have to take the hard contact and hold on to the
15:34ball. If he can prove that I think everything else is there for him. It's just this is a this is a weird
15:39class, dude. It's you know, are we getting more are we getting more 12 and 13 personnel teams? Are they going to be
15:45declaring that and now now Delp gets a little lost or is he going to be extremely valuable because I think he could be a
15:53Tucker Kraft type to be honest. You could put him he runs really well in the open field. So, you know that he can
15:59block reasonably well. They might give him the those easy little dump-offs and leaks and he can he can be a bulldozer
16:06with some speed.
16:07Yeah, I I think I think like you know, you could toss the dart at your tight end of choice here. I I do like the
16:13looks of him. I feel like it's the same you know, wide receiver a little bit you know, that maybe it's a sign that it's not the
16:20greatest class. I don't know. There seems to be a lot of wide receivers people are interested in. KC the Kansas City Chiefs want a top wide receiver who
16:27is KC Conceicao the right guy to be that receiver?
16:32First of all, the receiver aspect feel it or [ __ ] it. I'm feeling it. I think they want a top wide receiver for sure.
16:39What I I I like there's so much I like about Andy Reid but one of the things that I hate as a fantasy um analyst and GM
16:48about Andy Reid is when has he drafted a good wide receiver outside of like in the early rounds? When has he drafted
16:55one that has actually been legitimately strong? Jeremy Maclin I think might be the last one. I mean Tyreek Hill but he
17:02was he was one of those really where it's it wasn't about whether you were assessing the talent right, it was whether or not
17:09you were willing to take the chance on him and it whether it was going to blow up in your face. I mean cuz I think that
17:16that's more that was more the decision point about Tyreek Hill as late as they took him.
17:20Um but I think other than Maclin, I mean I don't remember any Eagles or Chiefs receivers that I would be like
17:30totally loving and even Rashee Rice to me plays like a construct of the offense more than he plays as a as a
17:39well-rounded talent and so it's I don't know. The track record you could count Rice. You could but it's I just think that there isn't a lot he's had a
17:50lot of failures with wide receivers in terms of late picks. If if the wide receiver's what they're doing, I mentioned KC Conceicao cuz I feel like
17:58maybe that would keep Rashee Rice relevant. He's the type of player that you would add that wouldn't be a limiting factor for him. But what how do
18:05you see that? Well, I mean they both can they're both great runners after the catch and and so they could be
18:10interchangeable that way. You can probably get they both also drop the ball on high pointed passes downfield and away from their their frame. So,
18:19they're almost the same player just with different sizes and quicknesses.
18:22So, it's kind of funny you'd have kind of redundancy I think if you ask me.
18:26Though I think Conceicao is a probably a better route runner and someone that probably should be able to quell some of
18:31that.
18:33I mean is he going to be a 5-yard average depth of target guy like Rashee Rice? I don't know. I mean I he in that
18:39offense, yeah. I think the biggest problem I have is KC's offense and and really Andy Reid's offense is it just feels like it's always way too
18:47complicated for the receiver.
18:49That the receivers that they draft never seem to be able to grasp it and never develop into what their physical skills
18:55portend. So, I'm just I'm just skeptical about I I'm just kind of I hate to say it this way as a fantasy you know, as a football
19:04person I love what Andy Reid does and the Chiefs are a good team but as a fantasy GM or fantasy analyst, I'm just
19:11kind of tired of Andy Reid and and thinking about Andy Reid and wide receivers. When I think Andy Reid drafted a wide receiver,
19:18half of me thinks just stay away. Just just forget it. Like it's it's going to be a disappointment like Lucy with the football and
19:27you know, I I just you know, Andy Reid is just Lucy with the football.
19:31Hear a lot of talk this time of year about the top 30 visits. All teams are getting you know, have their prospects
19:36make visits.
19:38Do these visits mean the team has a heavy interest in player? Feel that or it?
19:43>> I'm going to say [ __ ] it and say that the biggest reason I mean there's some that do but the biggest reason is that
19:49those these are the the they have the most questions about. Right.
19:52>> You know, that you know, top 30 is kind of a the top 30 visit sounds very misleading like this guy might be
19:59drafted among the top 30, but it's you know, but it makes me laugh because it's like these are guys that really might
20:05not be drafted or might be Or the head of the marks, right? And the team knows everything they need to know and they don't want to foreshadow
20:13anything. With other players, yeah.
20:15>> there's probably more of that. Yeah.
20:17>> You know, they're probably looking at guys that they like you said they don't know as much about or that they want
20:21people to think that hey, we're not taking the guy you're thinking about.
20:24>> smoke screen visits, yeah. Right, so much lying goes on. I mean it's so like I don't know. I have feelings very
20:32strong feelings about the lead up to the draft the hype for I know 99% of everything I'm being told is totally
20:38untrue or can't realistically come to pass. Every player can only be drafted by one team and I get that we all want
20:44to sit here and do the what ifs and play that game. It makes me crazy though cuz we know Thursday, Friday, Saturday. All
20:53the answers will be told. The truths will be told.
20:56>> waiting for the next It's like trying to bet what's going to happen in in the next favorite, you know, Netflix or HBO series that's going to
21:05happen and you're like the writers are leaking things that are probably not true just to get you all freaked out. Uh
21:12Zechariah Branch ran into a little trouble. I want to say where was it? Was it in Georgia?
21:16>> It was in Athens, yeah, my own hometown.
21:18Yeah. Yeah, is this a big deal for his draft capital feel or [ __ ] it?
21:21>> Oh, [ __ ] it, no. I mean unless he's got layers and layers of stuff to deal with that this was just another layer of
21:28information, then no. He was basically told to move along on a sidewalk outside of a a club or something and he took a
21:36step, but he didn't move in the right direction and then and either and then whether the officer interpreted that as willfully disobeying
21:44or it was just the the it was late at night and the guy was confused about which direction to move.
21:51You know, whatever happened he got arrested for it and $39 was the bail amount and I've been I've lived in Athens and been on enough jury duties to
22:00tell you that I've seen enough police reports involving students and and and young cops who are working that beat on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday nights
22:11and I can tell you that those reports often are pretty vague and leave a lot to be desired for interpretation about
22:19what actually happened. I'll say this my old pal Greg Rosenthal tweeted about this and I think I think his comment was this is might be the
22:26first time ever that a police reporter has actually helped I'm just going to tell you this story, Bob. I told this on Twitter this
22:34morning, but this was my There's a lot of good police officers in Athens. I've met a a fair bit of them. The older
22:39experienced ones are are really good, but some get overzealous and it's also around spring break and a lot of them are asked to take over for UGA police
22:48officers on campus. One day, Bob, I was driving to work. I worked at the business school. I was driving to work
22:55in my in my little slow ass Prius putting up a big hill and the light turned yellow as I crossed the
23:02intersection. I passed through this yellow light and to my left on this T intersection on the T crossing part where it's just a sidewalk and and
23:13bushes, I see a motorcycle cop in the bushes and it's an Athens cop and I putter through and he whips out to turn left from the
23:23sidewalk to follow me and and pull me over and as he's doing so the light had turned and this panel truck starts to
23:32turn left with the right away towards this cop. The cop literally had to perform an evasive maneuver. I see it I'm watching in my rearview mirror had
23:41to perform evasive maneuver where literally looked like he was like a stunt driver for Chips and he literally like veered into the opposite side of
23:50traffic and nearly laid down his bike before he righted the bike and then pulled me over.
23:56And I just remember I was trying not to laugh. I mean I was glad he was okay. At first I was worried and then as he
24:01pulled me over I was trying not to laugh. He pulled me over right in front of the building I worked. He was like,
24:06"Do you know why I pulled you over?" And I said, "No, I'm it's a yellow I I I think you pulled me
24:11over because I went through a yellow light and you didn't see it was yellow or you're anticipating it. So but the
24:16more the bigger question I got for you is are you okay?"
24:20And he looked at me and he goes, "What?"
24:22I said, "I mean I watched you nearly laid down that bike. That was a great maneuver you put on there, but I thought
24:27if it wasn't the truck that was going to hit you it was going to be the Jeep coming the opposite way that was in the
24:32that you were in that lane for. I thought I was going to have to call 911 and get out of my car and like make sure
24:38wave traffic around you after that. Are you all right?" And he just looked at me and he just kind of smiled and didn't
24:45say anything and asked me for my license and registration and he came back and and told me I was free to go. [laughter]
24:53But these are the types of things I mean like some of these guys are a little young and overzealous and trying to you
24:58know I think you know, I think the initial news as soon as you hear somebody's arrested, you know, 5 days before the draft is what the hell was he
25:06thinking, right? And I think in this case as we got more the more details we got, the less I felt like what the hell
25:11was he thinking, all right? Like >> He probably was misunderstanding.
25:14>> Yeah, it was a misunderstanding. I mean even if he was a little drunk, I'm not going to be upset with him. He was
25:19walking around in public. Maybe it was loud. I've been in Athens late at night.
25:24It's loud out out there with the music playing. Maybe he didn't hear the officer correctly. Maybe the officer didn't say it very clearly, you know.
25:33Maybe the officer motioned stuff to him and then wrote down he said stuff. I mean listen, it's it [clears throat] there's a lot to be
25:41left interpretation with some of this.
25:44Before we leave the state of Georgia, C.J. Allen best inside linebacker in the draft feel or [ __ ] it? I feel I feel like he really
25:51is and I think he's going to be one of those um players that you're going to want to have as an anchor player in your IDP
25:58dynasty leagues.
25:59Um we're going to go back into the world of RSP history uh and talk about one of the all-time greats.
26:08>> [laughter] >> If you've been watching the St. Louis Battlehawks, you've seen his fine work on the USFL field. Hakeem Butler
26:15or USFL Do we have an NFL caliber player in the minor leagues?
26:21I you know, I kind of think surprise surprise I kind of think we do um and I think it's that he's had flirtations with the NFL for
26:31the past few years after playing well in the UFL and nothing's really come of it, but let's look at it this way.
26:39Very rarely do guys coming from the the lower leagues get a a great opportunity to truly compete for playing time um
26:49as just a standalone wide receiver. You would end up you know, the the kid from Dallas who's playing in Dallas right now who
26:57was in the UFL. I don't remember his name right off the bat. I know he's on one of my teams. I should have mentioned
27:02him when I'm thinking about the argument, but um he he was a return specialist out of TCU. And so the fact
27:08that he could do the do return work and then get get an opportunity to play in the slot a little bit more is is good at
27:19example of how the NFL is kind of okay with that and amenable to it. I'm going to find his name right now. Um
27:27let's see.
27:28KaVontae Turpin, that's who I was thinking about. Turpin is that is an example of that. But I think that if you're a standalone just outside
27:35receiver who plays essentially one role on the field teams aren't going to be like, "Yeah, we're going to pick some guy off the UFL and we're going to
27:46we're going to make him our starter when we've got or or we're going to even give him a legitimate competition for playing time.
27:53And I think that that's probably what it is. Do I think he could be on an NFL roster? Absolutely. Do I think that he
27:59could actually contribute with the talent that he's shown? Yes, but but that's you know, it's probably unlikely to happen. And you know, he was
28:09a wide receiver for the Arizona Cardinals and as we can see that took them 4 years to I think 4 years to
28:16figure out that Michael Wilson was actually worth getting targets.
28:19>> Might take them 4 years to figure out Marvin Harrison Jr.
28:22>> Yeah, might as [laughter] well. Exactly.
28:24So it's like you know, we can say what we want about Hakeem Butler. He had certainly had drop passes and you know, things like that,
28:31but there was talent to that guy's game and I and I think that the fact that he's still playing and playing at a high
28:37level on this you know, on the squad and getting flirtations with the NFL is probably justifiable to to my point of
28:44view.
28:45All right, fair enough.
28:47Joe Flacco uh Connecticut quarterback is he a sleeper or feel or [ __ ] it?
28:51Oh, feeling it. I think this is someone who has some you know, has elements of good mechanics with how he moves in the pocket, how he
29:00how he works with drops. His throwing motion has some inconsistencies with it, but when it's on point he's accurate. He makes some big throws down field. He's
29:09got a good arm, good size, good movement skills overall. I think he's one of those players that if he can get a practice squad spot this year and
29:18stick to a roster this in subsequent years for another two or three years, he could be a compelling backup who might
29:25emerge as a good um as might emerge as a you know, top tier backup maybe even a journeyman starter. I think you know, I
29:33think about Aidan O'Connell. I think that you know, Aidan O'Connell might be the most recent example of someone who probably didn't have a really high draft
29:42capital maybe higher than I expected him to get and then was able to get a shot as a starter for a little bit down the line
29:49and get an audition like that. I think Fagnano is someone that you can give him a you know, if you can give him a couple
29:55of years before you rush him onto the field, you might have something that's worthwhile.
30:00All right, fair enough. Let's uh look at another maybe underrated player, Nick Singleton. Should we be thinking more highly of him, the running back from
30:06Penn State? Feel or [ __ ] it? I feel it.
30:08I think so. I think that um we have to remember that the way that recruiting happens in the college game is that they need to be
30:15able to play multiple running backs at once.
30:18Um and it's always been that way in the for a lot of teams in the past. Unless you were just so much better than
30:24everybody else that you're like a Randy Moss type of talent, they're not going to they're probably going to use multiple running backs. So,
30:34you know, Singleton was very good coming out um as a freshman and then, you know, the production wasn't quite there cuz he split time
30:42with other backs, but he's a very good receiver. I think that he's a smart runner within what you ask him to do and
30:49what he does best. And the size, speed, hands, it's all there. Um I would not be surprised at all if he develops into
30:59develops into a starter at some point.
31:01That did actually How about you Aler? Is he like a sixth-round quarterback? Feel or [ __ ] it? Oh, he's going to be. He's going to be. He might
31:09even be a fourth or fifth-round quarterback um just based on how the NFL likes to value big bodies with size, strength, and speed.
31:18>> 6'5 230 Yeah, I mean, that's right. They like that stuff. So, they're probably going to over-draft him um and so he I'm
31:27going to say I feel that. Is he worth that to me? I don't think so based on the film. Um I think he's probably more
31:33of a undrafted free agent and a guy that maybe needs to go to the UFL or another league even [clears throat] lower than
31:40that and like work his way up um and get more playing time and get more fundamentals into his game um before he he they try to rush him
31:49into a lineup.
31:51By the way, next weekend's fantasy notebook is going to focus on the rookies who were drafted in the first two days mostly. I'll get some three or
31:58third day three guys in there as well.
32:00Um but next week I'm going to try and look at some of the last year's rookies and previous rookies who've come up
32:05short. One of those is Matthew Golden.
32:07Is he still capable of fulfilling his draft value? Feel or [ __ ] it? Feel that, too. I I mean, again, it's year one. I
32:13mean, we get way too impatient about things and we have to understand that the Green Bay Packers like to use receivers in multiple spots. They move
32:21guys around. Um you've had you know, and when you look at it from that perspective Golden probably just, you know
32:30he he there were multiple guys who were already have rapport with Love. So, I I think that as we as we see his career unfold, we're going
32:41to see of him find a role and become more productive. I mean, he's a he's a good football player. I thought he was a
32:49good prospect and nothing's really changed my mind about that um just because he didn't get as many opportunities as you would like to see
32:59right away. Yeah, I'm very hopeful. I'm told he's very fast, Matt. You know how I feel about that. Um super excited.
33:06And we'll see opportunity matters, right? And they've kind of cleared the decks this off season with Dobbs gone, with Dontayvion Wicks gone. It's there's
33:14a it's a narrower band of players. I'm I'm looking at the magazines you got back there and I just don't see any in a
33:21brown paper bag.
33:23Well, I I know that this is this porn exists only on my computer in the form of the next gen stats fastest speeds table.
33:32Um very >> computer's in a brown paper bag. My computer is in a brown paper bag. You can't see it cuz it's in front of you,
33:37but that's okay.
33:39I want to revisit a couple things. Got to circle back on a couple items that that I thought were interesting.
33:44Uh we talked about the tight ends, right? That now they're compressed and uh it feels like any of them. Is this Is
33:50this Is drafting a tight end before the NFL draft even riskier than usual? Asked as someone who just drafted a tight end
33:57before the NFL draft.
33:58>> Oh, abso- absolutely I think it is. It's just I I just think it's a tough scenario because we we are seeing a changeover and we don't
34:07know how much of a changeover it's going to be. It could you know, I feel like that in order for you to get the
34:14the top move tight ends, you got to draft them reasonably early.
34:19And if you don't you don't go after those and you anticipate that you're going to get more of the Tucker Kraft,
34:25Tyler Warren, AJ Barner types you might be a year or two too early.
34:31Um and then that might mean that either those guys have to wait or those guys get passed over by somebody newer in um
34:38being drafted in a year or two. Um so, it's a it that may be much ado about nothing, but I feel like that this is that this
34:46may be that year where you kind of get bit in the ass for for drafting a tight end any anywhere before the fourth round or the late
34:56third, you know, if you're in a superflex league with premium tight ends, you know.
35:01>> [laughter] >> It's premium. I'm really willing to take some chances. Also very deep at that position. My roster is pretty well
35:08stocked, but so you're taking some We're rolling some dice. It's it's okay. It's fun to do. Casey Cansepsean, I want to
35:14go back to talking about his yards after the catch ability.
35:18Casey Cansepsean, yards after the catch more impressive greater than Malik Lemon. Is this a hot take or the real thing? Feel or [ __ ] it? Yeah, I saw
35:28Jacob um Gibbs talk about it. He was final analyst over at CBS say uh this might be a hot take and I
35:34would say no, it's not. It's not a hot take. Um Casey Cansepsean is probably if not the best runner after the catch
35:41of the receivers uh on this board. He's close to it. Um whereas Malik um Lemon is a tough guy and he can run
35:50after the catch well, but I wouldn't say that he's better than Cansepsean.
35:56All right. So, what what are we doing draft night, Matt? What what do you got any got any plan? I guess we'll just sit
36:00around and Yeah, we're going to sit on some couch and and probably I want to say I love Bloom's draft analysis for
36:07the reasons that he talks about things the rest of us don't, like little off-the-field nuggets. If you go read the Bloom pre-draft 100, it's fantastic.
36:15So many little little tales and Bloom finds. I know like we have all kind of got our lane as we do this. I
36:22like I don't care about any of these guys. I don't give a damn about anything except where they land and who's there.
36:26All right. So, that's probably why I like >> I am a mercenary. Matt is much more deeply analytical and Sigmund Bloom
36:34brings a little joy to the to the whole thing and tells some of these great stories and also some really real cogent
36:39analysis as well. Um but I love, you know, I I don't pay as much attention to all this stuff is and so I love the
36:47pre-draft 100 where I get to know these guys a little bit more. Like I sit here and I have NFL Network on at all times.
36:53So, I'm hearing some of these stories and and I've heard some that, you know, I didn't hear from Bloom. Tank Dell's
36:58grandfather that, you know, like uh paid him for every touchdown until he couldn't pay him for every touchdown. I recently passed away. Just great stories
37:06about these kids who are a good reminder that they're human. So, uh so tune into that Thursday night during the first round I'll probably
37:14have to cut out a little early. The first round's going to be a little shorter, Matt. It's 8 minutes instead of
37:1810. Oh, thank goodness. So, >> [laughter] >> so yes, the NFL >> Just give me Just give me my list, Bob.
37:25Just give me my list.
37:27>> Well, that's all I'm interested in and I'll start writing my fantasy notebook on landing spots and capital expended and start sorting out those things next
37:35week. This week's fantasy notebook was on some old dudes as one ex-commentator said, "Oh, shocking development of old dudes writing about old dudes."
37:45>> [laughter] >> It happens, but you can check that out.
37:49You should go buy the rookie scouting portfolio. I demand it. It's fantastic work. Everyone listening to this program undoubtedly knows this, but if there's
37:58one stray out there, we'd like to round you up. Go make an order [laughter] from Matt Waldman.com.
38:03>> you'll be happy. You'll be you'll absolutely be happy. And so, listen to Matt and I Thursday night on the Audible
38:09channel. Friday night uh Kloogee and uh Kloogee Well, they're all in Denver, right? This week Joey Wright and Jeff Bell are all
38:18congregated in one spot. They're going to do some live streaming. I'm going to be on the radio Thursday night 11:00 to
38:241:00, Friday night 11:00 to 1:00, Saturday 4:00 to 7:00, and Sunday in the afternoon sometime. So, if you're like that kind of thing, tune in. As long as
38:33Cecil's not As long as Cecil's not in his leopard bikini briefs, you know, for what they're congregating for.
38:40There you go. I mean, well, you just you should have gone to the football guys um uh soirée like several years ago when
38:47when when we had a pool, you know.
38:50Yeah, I'm I'm telling you, he he showed up.
38:54I'm here for it. And by the way, Brandon Aubrey just became the highest-paid kicker ever paid kicker in NFL history.
38:59Congratulations to you, Brandon. [ __ ] crazy world.
39:02>> [laughter] >> Love you, Matt. Bye.
39:07>> Love you. Bye.
