Drake Maye

PositiveProjection0:00

Ian Hartitz ranks Drake Maye as his QB8 for Week 1. Despite a playoff performance dip where his yards per attempt fell from 8.9 to 6.9 and his completion rate dropped from 72% to 58%, Maye remains a viable fantasy starter due to consistent rushing production. He maintained fantasy point totals of 17.3, 15.2, 14.2, and 17.5 during that stretch. While his rushing ability is not quite at the level of Jayden Daniels, it is close enough to provide confidence in his fantasy floor.

0:00How bad was he really in the playoff
0:01stretch? Cuz we remember guys, it was
0:03pretty rough as a whole, okay? Very
0:05tough defenses, Chargers, Texans,
0:07Broncos, and Seahawks, but we literally
0:09saw this dude go from averaging 8.9
0:11yards per attempt in the regular season
0:13to 6.9 in the playoffs. League-leading
0:15completion rate 72% to 58%.
0:18I'm not trying to make excuses for how
0:20he played in the playoffs, and we'll see
0:22if he's able to overcome that in a tough
0:24match-up against the Seahawks. That is
0:25why I have him down here at QB8,
0:27even though he was my QB3 kind of going
0:29into the season and drafts and
0:30everything. But man, as not good as May
0:33was in the playoffs, he still racked up
0:35plenty of fantasy points. 17.3 against
0:38the Chargers, 15.2, 14.2, and even in
0:41the Super Bowl [music] 17.5. Again,
0:43largely on the back of a lot of that
0:45rushing production. So, Drake May, maybe
0:47not quite Jayden Daniels with what he
0:48can do on the ground, but not too far
0:50off in that those give you confidence to
0:52still start him even in a rough on-paper
0:54match-up.
