Thinking out loud… What the 49ers currently have on their roster is good enough to win the Super Bowl. The concern is and has always been with this team— the overall health. To help protect from injuries, you have to go overboard in adding talent in certain areas. Adding DeForest Buckner was huge because it adds a pass rusher to the Dline, and also gives you peace of mind in case Nick Bosa doesn’t come back when they say he will or if he’s not himself when he comes back. The same goes at WR....

There’s not many high level seasons left for this aging core of players: Trent Williams, George Kittle, Christian McCaffrey, Fred Warner, Deebo Samuel, Kyle Juszczyk… They deserve a Super Bowl. Go out and add whatever is needed on both sides of the ball to cross the finish line in February. I’d say a top level DL and WR should get the job done I don’t want to look back at this group and say “Damn, they deserved a Super Bowl” the same way we look at Frank Gore, Patrick Willis and that squad

You got 49ers fans saying hell no to a Jauan Jennings return. You guys must be cool with this WR room right now: Mike Evans Brandin Cooks Jacob Cowing Jordan Watkins Kirk, Deebo, Strib cannot be counted on anytime soon due to the severity of their injuries Would I love McLaurin, Wilson, London? Absolutely. Do I think getting any of these type of players are realistic? Not really because of what Lynch would have to give up in draft capital in order to land one of these type of receivers Adding...

Kyle Shanahan on how coachable Brock Purdy is during games: “On our first touchdown vs Denver, he had an awesome drive. He scored throwing that ball to Deebo and did his little Dougie, but there were a few plays on that drive where I thought he did lose his patience, where he just gave up on things a little quick, didn’t have confidence in them and broke the pocket and didn’t sit there and play quarterback. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s bad. I remember him coming off the field and we di...

John Lynch says very few quarterbacks could have made this play that Brock Purdy made: “As the kids say, that was sick. That was an unbelievable play, like the wherewithal, and Brock has that instinct, he’s a playmaker. To freeze that linebacker by giving him a quick pump and then to continue to roll, I think he had Deebo right in front of him and he could have taken the short safe throw, but he saw Mike Evans. I think it also helps when your receiver has 35 inch arms. He’s got go go gadget a...

Nick Wagoner’s take on the Brock Purdy - Fred Warner trash talking: “The best part of the practice? The back and forth between Brock Purdy and Fred Warner. They’ve had their fun in this camp going at each other but it kicked into another gear today. During practice, Purdy layered one over Warner to Evans for a big gain. Later, Warner broke up a Purdy pass intended for Demarcus Robinson then boisterously let the QB hear about it. Warner also delivered a big thud to rookie RB Kaelon Black to fo...

Nick Wagoner’s practice report for Brock Purdy and Mac Jones: “A good day for QBs Brock Purdy and Mac Jones today, including a good amount of completions on deep balls. I had Purdy at 12-of-17 (didn't count a few plays for either penalties or would-be sacks) with Jones at 17-of-20. Purdy dropped in a beautiful deep ball to Malik Turner, who was well covered but made a nice over the shoulder grab for a huge gain. He later connected with Cowing, who was shaken up on a deep pass broken up by Mar...

Nick Wagoner’s report on Brock Purdy’s day against the Titans: “This was a practice with QB Brock Purdy in total control. Not counting him spiking the ball once in two-minute, I had Purdy at 21-of-27 on the day with no interceptions and at least three for sure touchdowns with two or three others that could have gone for one. In one sequence during a move the ball period, Purdy dropped one over and between three defenders to rookie WR De'Zhaun Stribling, hitting him in stride for what likely w...

Matt Barrows on Deebo Samuel’s usage as a kick returner this season: “I would be surprised if he’s a full-time kick returner. He usually was the 'in case of emergency' kick returner in the past, specially if he has a starting role opposite Mike Evans at the Z receiver spot. I don’t think he’s gonna be your full-time kick returner. You could put Kaelon Black or Jordan James back there. Maybe in a special situation and they just need a spark at the end of the game, they would put Deebo back the...
