There’s not many high level seasons left for this aging core of players: Trent Williams, George Kittle, Christian McCaffrey, Fred Warner, Deebo Samuel, Kyle Juszczyk… They deserve a Super Bowl. Go out and add whatever is needed on both sides of the ball to cross the finish line in February. I’d say a top level DL and WR should get the job done I don’t want to look back at this group and say “Damn, they deserved a Super Bowl” the same way we look at Frank Gore, Patrick Willis and that squad

Colin Cowherd has the 49ers listed second in his latest Power Rankings “They start every year it feels like 3-0, but I’m gonna give them credit— Brock Purdy plays like an MVP. Trent Williams is back, he’ll play. Mike Evans will play against Denver. Bosa will be back soon. This is a franchise where you cross your fingers on health. It’s one of the smartest, most functional offenses— McCaffrey, Trent, Kittle, Brock, Shanahan. It is a handful. Will it be a handful at Thanksgiving when half the g...

Greg Cosell doesn’t believe Christian McCaffrey has lost a step: “I didn’t believe watching last year that McCaffrey lost it. I know it’s easy to say he did because the numbers weren’t there, but just watching every single game and every single play, I don’t think McCaffrey looked appreciably different. I know he didn’t have the long runs, and I know people will think I’m wrong because he didn’t have 40 and 50 yard touchdown runs, but he also didn’t have a lot of clean holes, where he could g...

Some believe Christian McCaffrey’s absences from practice could be a hold-in due to the recent contracts to Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs: “Bijan Robinson gets a big contract. A couple of days later, Jahmyr Gibbs gets a big contract. A couple of days later Christian McCaffrey starts missing practice due to “tightness”. Now he’s missed a week of practice and some are wondering whether or not his tightness, whether his absences from practice relates to a desire to get an adjustment to his con...

Brock Purdy had a BIG day at practice Here’s Nick Wagoner’s report: “A really good practice for Brock Purdy despite musical pass catchers. Had him at 13-of-14 (he had another one broken up by Lenoir but looked like a would-be sack first) on the day and the one incompletion could have been a flag as LB Garret Wallow either perfectly timed or was a bit early on a throw to RB Christian McCaffrey. Some highlights from Purdy: Escaped pressure from Height, rolled to his right, got a good block from...

Christian McCaffrey on Deebo Samuel coming back to the 49ers: “I’m so fried up. Deebo has such a presence on the field. When he’s in the game you have to account for him in so different ways. I look at a guy like Dre Greenlaw on defense, when you get him back it’s just something about that, it gives you a little bit of confidence and it’s the same with Deebo. He gives us all so much confidence. You know when he’s in the game he’s got your back. He’s just a fun dude to play with and a game bre...

Eric Branch has some interesting predictions for the 49ers this season: • The 49ers over-reliance on aging 30-something players due to their series of lackluster recent drafts will catch up to them (and those NFL-record travel miles won’t help): They will finish 9-8, miss the playoffs and finish in third place in the NFC West behind the Rams and Seahawks • The Brandon Aiyuk saga will somehow get more bizarre — and the former All-Pro wide receiver won’t play in the NFL in 2026 • Best value dra...

SI’s Conor Orr explains why he believes the 49ers can win the Super Bowl this season: “I can imagine a world where the 49ers either convince Joey Bosa to come back to football and anchor the defensive line with his brother, Nick … or where they realize how wide the talent gap is between their own defensive line and the Rams’ and trade for Maxx Crosby. By signing Mike Evans, the 49ers have made clear that their timeline parallels Los Angeles’s. We talk often about windows—mostly inaccurately,...
