Darnold's slow read progression and fixation on single receivers are limiting offensive efficiency.

Darnold takes too long to transition between reads and becomes fixated on individual receivers. Against San Francisco, he fixated on Rashid Shaheed despite a poor route that took him toward the safety and still considered forcing the throw, while Horton and Kupp were open on the opposite side. Shaheed bailed him out, but Darnold has to process faster and move through his reads more efficiently. He also escapes initial pressure but makes poor decisions afterward, missing opportunities to get the ball out before pressure arrives.
