Sam Darnold is playing bench-worthy football, there I said it. I defended Darnold from the idea of getting benched last week but left the door open a little bit if it persisted.

Darnold reverting to bad habits; bench-worthy play threatens long-term starter role

Playing bench-worthy football and reverting to every bad habit from college and the NFL with no great payoff like the past two seasons. He's double and triple hitching in the pocket, toggling from risk-averse to greedy, and not trusting his reads. While the offensive line and Brian Fleury's progression concepts share blame, Darnold's turnovers are unacceptable and his future as a long-term starter is now murky despite his NFC Championship Game performance. He's on the shortest leash of any Seahawks QB in a long time.
