The Athletic Football Show on Dak Prescott

PodcastWhat Trevor Lawrence's rise can teach us about NFL quarterbacksOctober 1, 2026

From the episode

Dak Prescott, I think to a degree is this like, I think in my opinion, like Tyler Smith is probably the best player on that offense. Dak, CD and Pickens are all like kind of in the same category.

Prescott tier-two QB; Tyler Smith likely best player on Cowboys offense, not Dak.

Dak Prescott is in the tier-two quarterback group (6-15 range) where he is clearly good and helping the offense but there are many other really good pieces around him; Tyler Smith is probably the best player on the offense, with CD Lamb and CeeDee Pickens in similar categories, making it unclear that Prescott is at the elite level.
