The Athletic Football Show on Justin Herbert

Herbert's poor play reflects bad circumstances, not declining talent.

The source argues that Herbert is not playing great, but the offensive circumstances around him are significantly worse than expected; none of the promise of the offense is materializing. The source emphasizes that Herbert is likely not a notably worse player than in 2022, but the environment has deteriorated materially, making his performance look worse than his actual quarterback ability.
