Mendoza poised to start soon; Raiders exploring QB change from Cousins.

Mendoza, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner and No. 1 overall pick, is waiting in the wings to take over as the Raiders' starting quarterback. He has already made his NFL debut, coming in late during the Raiders' loss to the New England Patriots and going 6-of-8 passing for 48 yards. He has been practicing behind Cousins since being drafted but has not made a start yet. The source indicates a quarterback switch is inevitable, though the timing remains uncertain—it could happen next week against the Jets, in a few weeks, or next season.
