Jalen Daniels, a story we don't hear very often. An undrafted free agent quarterback, earned the quarterback two job in training camp... he stands in the pocket. He's willing to stand and deliver there. He has a strong arm.
STACKED’s take
Undrafted Daniels taking over for Mayfield; praised by analysts but ~10% chance of spark.
Jalen Daniels, an undrafted free agent who earned the backup quarterback role in training camp, is taking over for Baker Mayfield (dislocated thumb, out 3+ weeks). The speaker notes Daniels has a live arm, is willing to stand in the pocket and deliver, works over the middle of the field, and has been praised by analysts like Nate Tice and Greg Cosell (who called him his favorite player in the draft). However, there's only about a one-in-ten chance he provides a meaningful spark given the historical rarity of undrafted free agent rookie quarterbacks succeeding. The Buccaneers face the Green Bay Packers this week, a struggling defense that could provide an opportunity for Daniels to generate some offensive flow.
