For one, already on the Cardinals' practice squad is veteran Jerome Ford, age 27. Elevate him now. Ford (5'-10", 210 pounds) was a fifth-round draft pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2022. Ford split carries with Hunt and had a career-high 813 yards on 204 carries with four TDs. He played four seasons with the Browns, so he has experience. During his career, he had 107 receptions for 647 yards, so he has been involved in the short passing game.

Source recommends elevating Ford from practice squad as proven RB backup option

The source recommends elevating Ford, a 27-year-old veteran already on the Cardinals' practice squad, to address the running back depth crisis. Ford was a fifth-round pick by Cleveland in 2022 and has NFL experience: he played four seasons with the Browns, had a career-high 813 yards on 204 carries with four TDs in 2023 when Chubb was injured, and accumulated 107 receptions for 647 yards, demonstrating involvement in the passing game. Elevation would give Arizona a proven backup to Allgeier.
