Downs requested trade; leading Colts option with Pierce out, fits complementary role.

Downs has requested a trade, saying he's 'open to whatever' regarding a move from the Colts. The 25-year-old is in the final year of his rookie deal and has stepped up as the Colts' leading receiver option with Alec Pierce hurt. The source notes Downs doesn't fit a WR1 profile but could be a quality complement for a team seeking an upgrade, similar to the Seahawks' deadline trade for Rashid Shaheed last year. As a smaller slot receiver, he might fit only certain teams, but with his trade request and league-wide WR need, he figures to move soon.
