STACKED’s take
64% rushing share but capped ceiling due to Bengals' pass-first philosophy.
Chase Brown's role actually improved last week despite P. Ryan entering the game; he maintains 64% rushing market share overall this season. When the game was within two touchdowns last week, Brown had 10 carries to P. Ryan's 4; the week before, carries were nearly equal at 13 for Brown and 14 for P. Ryan. Brown has never been an efficiency star and has dropped off this year, but the decline is reasonable and not a dramatic collapse like Saquon Barkley's. The biggest concern is the Bengals' overall team rush rate and their stated philosophy of prioritizing Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins; the team has steered away from league-average PROE and Joe Burrow publicly stated they should throw even more. Expect Brown to be highly owned and project well, with normalization of opportunities this week, but his ceiling is capped by team passing philosophy. Additionally, he received only 11 rushes in one recent game, while Pollard has had at least 14 carries in five of six games this year.
