Metcalf versus Bernard. So, they've been relatively close in terms of target share when they've both been on the field. Bernard much lower average depth of target, but Metcalf's A dot is actually much lower than it has been historically. They're playing him much closer to the line of scrimmage... Metcalf is still the guy that you have to project with the higher target share between him and Bernard, but I don't think it's by like a big enough gap that you're surprised any given week if Bernard does end up with a higher target share.
STACKED’s take
NeutralRole
Tight target-share race with Bernard; A-dot depressed vs. historical norms
Target share relatively close to Jaylen Bernard when both on field; A-dot much lower than historical average as Steelers are playing him closer to line of scrimmage. Aided by weak receiver room (Brandon Smith, Brandon Johnson, MBS, Caden Wetgen as zeros). Projected as higher target-share option over Bernard, but gap not large enough to be surprised if Bernard outperforms week-to-week (Bernard ahead weeks 5-6, Metcalf ahead by 4-5 points week 7).
