Carnell Tate, um, Tennessee Titans stud, rookie wide receiver... if Cam Ward can even be some semblance of what we saw last week...Carnell Tate is a wonderful bill, Brett...He was basically playing the Malik Neighbors role, a dude like 24.5% target share... Carnell Tate is another player that's been frustrating for most of the season for most fantasy managers. It's like when they don't start him, he goes off. When they do start him, he does nothing... you can probably get him thrown in for like an old ham sandwich as a sweetener in a deal.
STACKED’s take
Buy-low if Ward improves; 24.5% target share with soft schedule but shoulder injury clouds outlook.
Derek Brown views Carnell Tate as a strong buy-low candidate if Cam Ward continues the efficiency and touch-passing improvements shown against Cincinnati. Before injury, Tate held a 24.5% target share (Malik Neighbors role), 2.2 yards per route run, and 32% first-read share. Brown emphasizes the volume is there and Ward's improved play creates upside. Tate's upcoming schedule is favorable: Jacksonville allows significant yardage to perimeter receivers (bend-but-don't-break defense), Dallas is a plus matchup, Washington Commanders lack secondary talent, Detroit has injuries (DJ Reid out), Colts are a dumpster fire, Raiders can't guard talented receivers, and only Pittsburgh at week 17 presents a truly imposing matchup. Brown notes Tate has been frustrating for fantasy managers most of the season with inconsistent performance—he goes off when benched but underperforms when started—but sees better days ahead with the schedule alignment. Currently injured with shoulder injury status unclear, his trade value is minimal; Brown suggests he can be acquired as a throw-in sweetener for minimal cost ("old ham sandwich"), indicating he's essentially free in redraft leagues.
