having less than a week to get up to speed with an offense before getting thrown into significant game time is not exactly a formula for success. The second half of the game bore that out. Only 2 first downs in the entirety of the half for Houston, along with multiple communication issues.

Rypien's week-of prep and second-half struggles (2 FDs, communication issues) show QB3 risk.

Texans QB3 had less than a week to get up to speed with the offense before being thrown into significant game time, a formula that did not work. Despite familiarity with offensive coordinator Caley's system and 11 years in the NFL across 11 teams, Rypien struggled in the second half with only 2 first downs for the entire half and multiple communication issues. The lack of preparation time and fringe-player status made the situation difficult.
