It might be it might be Saquon Barkley taking the risk ahead of CMC this year... last year's CMC might be this year's Saquon Barkley... I sat here at this time last season and advocated for Saquon despite that 450 touch mark... I don't think Saquin fell off a cliff individually but it shows that this entire thing can be environmental too.

Better risk-adjusted round 1 option than McCaffrey; decline was environmental, not talent.
Saquon Barkley is presented as a potentially better risk-adjusted alternative to McCaffrey in round 1, despite also having the 450-touch historical precedent. Speaker advocated for Saquon last season despite the 450-touch mark and notes that Saquon did not individually fall off a cliff—the decline was environmental. McCaffrey's situation mirrors Saquon's: in 2019 McCaffrey had 400 touches then played 3 and 7 games the next two seasons; in 2022-2023 he had 330 touches then played 4 games the next season. The implication is that last year's McCaffrey might be this year's Saquon Barkley in terms of risk profile.
