They could no longer justify giving a roster spot to veteran receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Beckham is gone, and receivers Braxton Berrios and Charlie Jones have joined the 53-man roster. It's simple; Berrios and Jones play special teams. Beckham doesn't.

Giants cut Beckham; won't add to practice squad at this time.

The Giants released Beckham from their 53-man roster and are not expected to sign him to the practice squad 'at this time.' The source attributes the move to Beckham's lack of special teams contribution compared to receivers Braxton Berrios and Charlie Jones, who were added to the roster specifically for their special teams value. With starting quarterback Jaxson Dart lost to a knee injury, the Giants determined Beckham wasn't doing enough to justify a roster spot.
