Adonai Mitchell

NegativeValue20:36

Travis Aan groups Adonai Mitchell with Trey Tucker and Caleb Douglas, noting that Mitchell and Kayshon Boutte occupy similar roles, making them largely interchangeable for fantasy purposes.

Insight page

Braelon Allen

NegativeValue29:02

Braelon Allen is currently being drafted behind David Montgomery in running back rankings, alongside Bucky Irving.

Insight page

Breece Hall

PositiveValue4:12

Travis Aan prefers Breece Hall over Ashton Genty in drafts because Hall is actively practicing and appears unlikely to miss time, whereas Genty is dealing with a serious ankle injury that could keep him out for the first two weeks.

Insight page

Brock Bowers

PositiveValue16:18

Travis Aan maintains his ranking of Brock Bowers as the 18th overall player, noting that the injury to Ashen Genty does not negatively impact his outlook and actually makes drafting Bowers an easier decision.

Insight page

Bucky Irving

NegativeValue23:45

Bucky Irving is mentioned in the context of running back rankings where David Montgomery is currently being drafted ahead of him, suggesting Irving may be a better value at his current ADP.

Insight page

Chase Brown

PositiveValue5:19

Travis Aan explicitly ranks Chase Brown ahead of Ashton Genty, preferring him as a safer and more valuable draft selection due to Genty's ongoing injury concerns.

Insight page

Christian McCaffrey

NegativeUsage39:34

Travis Auman expresses skepticism regarding Christian McCaffrey's injury management and workload, citing concerns over his high touch volume last season and lack of efficiency. Despite McCaffrey's claims that his recent practice absence was planned, the 49ers' history of handling injuries makes him a risky pick at his current 5th-6th overall ADP.

Insight page

David Montgomery

NegativeBust22:14

Travis Aan views David Montgomery as a 'dead zone' running back, noting his ADP (RB21) is too high given the emergence of Woody Marks and the likelihood of a committee backfield. Aan argues Montgomery's value was purely volume-based and he is not in his prime, leading to a personal ranking closer to RB24 and a downgrade to a 1A/1B outlook.

Insight page

Deshaun Watson

NegativeRole29:31

Deshaun Watson is the confirmed Week 1 starter for the Browns, but Travis Aan expresses significant concern regarding his performance, mental state, and negative interactions with home fans. There is a risk he may not play all 17 games due to potential benching, with Shedeur Sanders mentioned as a potential, albeit flawed, alternative who also struggles with accuracy.

Insight page

Fernando Mendoza

NegativeRole12:09

Fernando Mendoza is legitimately pushing to start as a rookie, showing rapid development in under-center footwork and full-field progressions that exceed his college comfort zone. Travis Aan expects him to start by October, provided the offensive line remains stable enough to avoid a 'Bryce Young or Caleb Williams' situation.

Insight page

George Kittle

NegativeValue38:56

Travis Auman ranks George Kittle as the TE7, placing him ahead of Dalton Kincaid and Kyle Pitts. Kittle has been removed from the PUP list, and Auman expects his draft stock to climb a full round once he is confirmed ready for Week 1, though durability remains a concern following his late-season Achilles injury.

Insight page

Isaac Guerendo

PositiveRole37:07

Travis Auman identifies Isaac Guerendo as the clear RB2 for the San Francisco 49ers, highlighting his pass protection skills and ability to play faster than his athleticism. He is considered a priority waiver wire target and the preferred backup, despite potential competition from Jordan James upon his return from injury.

Insight page

Javonte Williams

NegativeValue2:11

Travis Aan ranks Javonte Williams ahead of Ashton Genty, though he notes this could change if Genty is confirmed available for Week 1. Williams is also grouped in a draft tier with Kyren Williams, Josh Jacobs, and Travis Etienne, reflecting a similar risk profile regarding potential missed time.

Insight page

Jayden Higgins

NegativeInjury16:39

Travis Aan reports that Jaden Higgins suffered a torn ACL, which removes him from the Texans' rotation. Higgins was previously tapped to play in two-wide-receiver sets and was expected to have a significant second-year role.

Insight page

Jeremiyah Love

PositiveValue4:49

Travis Aan prefers Jeremiah Love over Ashton Genty, noting that Love's ankle sprain is not the most severe version of the injury. Aan would target Love at the 3/4 turn, viewing him as a safer option than the currently injured Genty.

Insight page

Josh Jacobs

NegativeValue2:11

Josh Jacobs is considered to be in a similar situation to Ashton Genty, with both players carrying the threat of missing time due to injury.

Insight page

Kayshon Boutte

PositiveBreakout16:47

Following his trade to the Texans, Kayshon Boutte is viewed as a superior fit for the offense compared to other options, likely serving as a vertical threat in two-wide receiver sets. Travis Aan ranks him around WR56, placing him in a tier with Romeo Doubs, Denzel Boston, and Trey Tucker, but ranks him ahead of Adonai Mitchell and Caleb Douglas due to his ball-winning ability and ideal landing spot with CJ Stroud.

Insight page

Kenneth Walker III

PositiveValue5:19

Travis Aan ranks Kenneth Walker III ahead of Ashton Genty due to Genty's injury uncertainty. Additionally, Aan projects a major breakout for Walker following his move to the Kansas City Chiefs, noting that playing alongside Patrick Mahomes should significantly improve his success rate.

Insight page

Kirk Cousins

NegativeUsage0:50

Kirk Cousins was the passer involved in the play during which Ashton Genty suffered his ankle injury at the Raiders' indoor facility.

Insight page

Kyren Williams

NegativeValue2:11

Kyren Williams is grouped in the same draft tier as Ashton Genty, serving as a benchmark for where to value running backs with injury concerns.

Insight page

Malik Nabers

NegativeValue6:33

Malik Nabers is positioned as a benchmark player in the same draft bracket as Ashton Genty, indicating similar market valuation.

Insight page

Mike Washington Jr.

PositiveBreakout5:12

Travis Aan is high on Mike Washington Jr., citing his size, speed, and underrated receiving ability. Aan ranks him at RB39 (around pick 115-120) and believes he could see a majority of reps if Ashton Genty misses time. His value increases significantly if he is confirmed as a starter for the first few weeks.

Insight page

Nico Collins

PositiveUsage17:54

The addition of Kayshon Boutte is a positive for Nico Collins, as it allows Collins to dominate underneath, crossing, and motion routes while Boutte occupies the deep-threat role. Collins remains a high-priority target in round three.

Insight page

Quinshon Judkins

NegativeValue23:43

Travis Aan notes that David Montgomery is currently being drafted ahead of Quinshon Judkins, implying that Judkins may be a better value at his current ADP.

Insight page

Rashee Rice

NegativeValue6:40

Rashee Rice is placed in the same draft bracket as Ashton Genty, suggesting comparable market valuation for fantasy managers.

Insight page

Rasheen Ali

NegativeValue23:46

Travis Aan notes that David Montgomery is currently being drafted ahead of Rasheen Ali, implying that Ali may be a better value at his current ADP.

Insight page

Saquon Barkley

PositiveValue5:19

Travis Aan states a clear preference for Saquon Barkley over Ashton Genty in fantasy drafts, ranking him higher due to the injury risks surrounding Genty.

Insight page

Travis Etienne

PositiveValue2:11

Travis Etienne is considered to be in a different, more favorable conversation than David Montgomery regarding fantasy value, and is used as a reference point for the draft tier that includes the injured Ashton Genty.

Insight page

Tre Tucker

PositiveUsage20:31

Travis Aan highlights that Trey Tucker rested with the starters and was utilized in one-wide-receiver sets, which is a significant indicator of his role. Despite competition from Jaylen Naylor and Jack Bash, reports suggest Tucker is positioned as the wide receiver one for the team. Aan prefers drafting Tucker over Naylor in the final rounds of redraft leagues and places him in a tier with Caleb Douglas and Adonai Mitchell.

Insight page

TreVeyon Henderson

NegativeValue23:47

Travis Aan notes that David Montgomery is currently being drafted ahead of Trevon Henderson, implying that Henderson may be a better value at his current ADP.

Insight page

Woody Marks

PositiveUsage22:14

Woody Marks is emerging as a significant threat to David Montgomery's workload, with reports indicating a near 50/50 carry split is possible. Marks has impressed in pass protection and preseason action, moving into a tier with Jordan Mason, Chris Rodriguez, and Rachaad White, while moving ahead of players like Tyjae Spears and Tyler Allgeier.

0:00Another important show for you today. We have at least a dozen rankings changes for you after week two of the preseason.
0:06We watch yes all 16 games like absolutely sickos. But Hayden, I think just as importantly this week, a lot has happened off the NFL field and more so
0:15behind closed doors at practices and just away from facilities, let's put it that way.
0:19>> Yep. All the way even to training uh trailer parks in uh weird parts of Ohio and everything. Yeah, we we've watched a
0:26bunch of tape uh and you know, depth chart changes and then you know, all the injury stuff. One of the craziest
0:31stories ever last night with the Genty stuff, of course.
0:34>> Well, let's dive into that first because Las Vegas Raiders and secondyear running back Ashen Genty was going at the one-two turn for many of you out there
0:42and it was just about the craziest five hours in fantasy football Twitter that we've ever seen. So, they practiced yesterday, the Raiders did, at their
0:50indoor facility. Uh the Raiders beats all in unison made it sound like Ashen Genty dove for a Kirk Cousins pass really struggled to get up by himself.
1:00Couldn't put any weight on his leg. Uh and trainers helped him off the field and then a prayer circle formed by other
1:06players. We've all been waiting for again hours and hours and hours speculating that this could be a possible season ender. Then we get an
1:13Adam Shfter tweet saying that it's just a sprained ankle. So Hayden, right now we have no timeline of when Ashton Genty
1:20is going to return the field, but also the term high ankle has not been used at this time. So let's use our fantasy
1:26football brains. How are you interpreting this Ashen Genty news in your drafts right now?
1:31>> I would not take him until the very end of the third round. I have him in the tier with Travis Aan, Javvante Williams,
1:36Kairen Williams, Josh Jacobs. I think Josh Jacobs and Ashton Genty, I think pretty similar situations because you're probably projecting them to miss maybe
1:44or at least there's the threat of them missing time and maybe extensive time.
1:48Uh so I think those guys would be pretty similar to me. Uh then you kind of get to that tear break where now you're
1:53talking about some of the wide receivers that we we do really like, but they're just not providing the same amount of
1:58value in half PPR. So, uh do want to remind people there are different degrees of ankle sprains. Like you have you do have the Omari and Hampton, oh
2:05there's actually a small fracture. I'm going to miss uh 10 weeks. We've seen that with a couple different guys before. High ankle sprains that like
2:11need tightroppe surgery, like those can uh linger on for multiple months. I'm guessing this would have to be on like this more severe side of ankle sprains
2:21given, you know, the reports. They they stopped the music at practice over this.
2:26Uh >> they stopped the music.
2:27>> Yeah, I think I think we should be reading into that. He couldn't put weight on it. Uh I've busted my ankle
2:31plenty of times. It sucks and it it takes a long time. And uh um I think if I was the Raiders, like could he be on
2:39IR? See what you got with Mike Washington and slow slow play this? Like we're talking about the Raiders in 2026.
2:44We're not we don't have Super Bowl aspirations. So, um my baseline assumption is he's going to miss three to four games.
2:50>> Wow. Okay. This is like strategy corner baked into what we already thought of Ashen Genty on the Las Vegas Raiders. uh
2:58baked into hopefully we get more information as the week and the days go on. But if you're drafting today, I guess utilize this news. I don't know.
3:05This is really a like fancy football perfect storm of unknowns here. Like to me, this just means I'm not going to end
3:12up with Ashen Genty this year because already I was well below market on where Ashenti was going at that one two turn.
3:19I was simply not selecting him over the likes of Saquon Barkley, Chase Brown, Ken Walker the third. I can keep going
3:25on and on through that list. Um, conversely, and we'll talk about him in a moment, you and I have been well above
3:32the public on Mike Washington Jr., who's had an excellent preseason at this time.
3:36We'll put a pin in that. I'm just looking at expert consensus ratings, Aiden. And I filtered it through just updates over the last 24 hours, and
3:46that's at Ashen Genty 25th overall. So, that's like the 301 at this point.
3:53That's even kind of rich to me because the names after him include Malik Neighbors and Devonte Smith and and those types. So, I'd probably put him
4:00right after that group, but in that kind of same bracket as you know, Rashi Rice of where they have him. Um, I guess the
4:08conversation if we're just looking at running backs because people love to do, you know, the wide receiver, running back, running back, starter, whatever
4:13combo you want. Bree Hall versus Ashen Genty, who are you selecting?
4:17>> Bree Hall. He's he's running around right now in practice. It seems like he's not going to be missing time. like
4:22he's not fully participating in practice, but he's on the practice field running. Like I I I'm guessing Ashen Genty is weeks away from running based
4:29off of uh ankle sprain. So to me it would be Bree Hall. Jeremiah loves dealing with an ankle sprain. We know
4:35that Jeremiah Jeremiah Love's ankle sprain is not like the most severe version of it. Like otherwise we would have heard that. I think there's still a
4:43pretty uh like there's a chance at Genty. Like this is a still a pretty serious injury. Um even it's like not a
4:49season ender. Um, so I would rather have Jeremiah Love, especially, you know, that happened last week, not this week.
4:54Um, yeah. So, I'm not going to get him either. I would draft him at the three, four turn.
5:00>> Okay. So, Javvante Williams versus Ashen Genty.
5:04>> Right now in my rankings, it's Javvante Williams. If we get a if we get a note, it you know, in 10 minutes from now that
5:09he's going to be available in week one, obviously, you know, TB.
5:12>> So, let's tie this into Mike Washington Jr., right? Because again, this is a player that you and I have been excited
5:20about since, let's say, draft season. I mean, he is big and fast, and despite being big, he's not necessarily a pure
5:28tackle breaker, and that showed up in his underlying metrics. However, if you give him a give him a crease or a lane,
5:33he can create explosives. He's done that in each of these preseason games. And I would even say that some of his
5:39receiving work is a bit underrated.
5:41>> Agreed.
5:42>> Out there, too. Um, let's say like maybe a middle outcome here is that either Ashen Genty is banged up, limited, or
5:51even out for the first two games of the season. Those two games are the Miami Dolphins and the LA Chargers. If that's
5:59the case, then Mike Washington Jr. is probably going to see the majority of the reps in those. And again, this is
6:05the median outcome here for Ashen Genti.
6:08All he needs to do is reel off a couple of explosives or look consistent or do something well for him to earn more work
6:16for the remaining 15 games than maybe he was expected to from the fantasy football bubble in the last three weeks or the last month. Like you and I were
6:25already of the belief that Ashen Genty was not going to repeat the 86% workload that he got last year and it was
6:30probably going to be closer to 7030 if not maybe even a little higher than that. And so if a healthy Mike
6:36Washington again has moments or has very positive play in the first two weeks, then to me that significantly reduces the upside of Ashen. That's just one
6:46version of it. What would your take on that be?
6:48>> Yeah, I I can see a version of that happening. I I think the the more promising thing for Mike Washington,
6:54like let's say like this is just, you know, two, three, four games in a row where he's just in your starting lineup,
7:00like that's very valuable. I would be ranking him probably around RB 20 to RB 25 going into those weeks because there's nobody behind him. It's like
7:09Dylan Lobby like they're not going to play the the backups and Washington's been lighting it up. What I liked about Washington as a prospect is he did catch
7:17passes that final season. Lots of like swing passes get him up to speed. Uh and then he's also massive so he can handle
7:24a big workload. So like if he gets the opportunity I think he can get lots of opportunities in a game. So that's why I
7:31kind of liked him. I went back consensus rankings had him as like the 74th overall player goes in uh round four. He
7:37was a very real prospect. Like I know he doesn't check like the spreadsheets uh but the film guys, the NFL combine, the
7:44NFL, they were all interested in him to to varying degrees. And I think that the opportunity here is is pretty straightforward. like players like, you
7:52know, if it's Devin Singleary, James Connor, like a week before the season stuff, not that threatening to me. Like, you know, it's I think he's in a pretty
8:00good spot.
8:01>> This has been a really promising Mike Washington Jr. preseason. It's exactly what, you know, fans of his like ours could could have hoped for. Um, so where
8:09do you draft him? Like, is it fair to place him in the Jordan Mason, Kungai, Rashad White, Mike range? like I have
8:16him as running back 39 right now and that might be really aggressive to people out there because you know anecdotally some drafts might have him
8:22as like the 150th overall player at this point.
8:25>> I would take him closer to 120 if not a little bit higher than that.
8:28>> We got him 115 in my rankings right next to Rashad White, Jordan Mason. And let's just be honest like we liked Mike
8:34Washington a long time ago and we >> we have some bias attached to this.
8:38Let's let's put it on the table.
8:39>> I don't like using the word bias. We have an evaluation of him that's different. There's I'm not related to Mike Washington. There's no bias here. I
8:45just think that he's better. Like my evaluation is different than other people's and I think that's what I'm looking at. There is value of knowing
8:51one of your handcuffs is going to be in your starting lineup for a couple weeks.
8:53Like and if we actually get that confirmed over the next couple days, then that's intriguing to me. And like who's now more likely to like miss a
9:01huge chunk of the season due to a setback or uh guess what like that actual report that we just got is not
9:07like there's some other details that are missing. Of course, he has a higher chance of being like him versus Tank Bsby. Like right now, Saquon Barkley is
9:14infinitely more likely to play more games than Ashton Genty. So, I have to be viewing Mike Washington in a full different tier. And then some of the
9:21other guys that I just don't see them like really like mattering all that much. Like can he gain well types? I
9:27just don't see the like long-term answer of like why that guy's going to matter in fantasy. If Mike Washington like like
9:34if if Genty was out for the entire season, I think Mike Washington would have been right in that Raandre Stevenson Jaylen Warren six round range.
9:41There's no way Kenny Wall and those types are going that high.
9:43>> Yeah. Again, for the five hours of mayhem that we had on Sunday night, uh when based on the prayer circle, which I
9:51guess worked, uh leading us to believe that Mike Washington Jr. would be out for an extended period of time. Excuse me, Ashen Genty would be out for an
10:00extended period of time. I had Mike Washington Jr. ahead of Trevon Henderson, Randre Stevenson as like my running back 26. So, this isn't to the
10:08point where I was at yesterday. It's almost like middle grounding that. And look, I truly hope that it comes out that Ashen Genty, uh, this is a the
10:16lowest of ankle sprains of all time and he's going to be out there in week one.
10:20At the same time, I'm kind of thinking about the the middle outcome here that he's going to be limited and at least
10:25seed more snaps early on to Mike Washington Jr. I trusted Mike Washington Jr.'s talent, especially again, the easiest game that they have all season
10:33is in week one against the Miami Dolphins. The next 10 weeks are doom.
10:37It's it's really bad from there. And so if he looks the best in week one, then he will earn more and more. Plus, the
10:44Genty thing maybe lingers a bit longer.
10:46So, uh, >> yeah.
10:47>> Yeah. This is something we'll probably update next week when we do our running back rankings for, you know, the entire
10:53season. We could have more information on this tonight, but as of now, and based on Chev's reporting, uh, the Raiders are declining all comment on how
11:01significant the Ashton Genty injury is.
11:03>> Yeah, they're just waiting for for more information. So, so who knows? I will say even without this injury, I was
11:08going to talk about Mike Washington at the top of the show because he immediately just reeled off another explosive and it wasn't a blocked up
11:14explosive, he hit the hole, the hole collapsed and then he bounced it outside, stiffed on somebody and then hit the gas in a hurry. Like it was, you
11:22know, both of his explosives were not because the run blocking was was so good. It's he's creating these uh big plays by himself. Let's talk about the
11:29other rookie on the team, you know, the number one overall pick and Fernando Mendoza. Uh because it seems like he is
11:34legitimately pushing to start. Now, that might not be in week one. That might be week two, week three, week four. We've
11:41been doing this show obviously for years, but definitely through, you know, last February and March when Clint Kubak got a mic or Spyite or even Tom Brady,
11:51they all pointed to wanting to sit the quarterback, a rookie, number one overall pick for a year, if not the vast
11:58majority of the season. Those are the early comments and really what we've gotten from national insiders since that point is that the goal has been for
12:06Fernando Mendoza to sit in this offense.
12:08However, Hayden, Coach Peak Index has pointed this out. If you look at some of the press conference clips over the last, I don't know, weeks or even
12:17months. It seems like a slight change of tune has happened here. Do you think that's just simply because Fernando Mendoza has shown more poise and
12:25patience and comfort than they were expecting and so they're more open-minded to not have Kirk Cousins start >> even six games, might be less than that?
12:32>> When they drafted him, they were drafting his traits. They weren't drafting him because they were going to be running the Fernando Mendoza offense,
12:39which I think when they drafted him, there's probably some uncertainty early on is like what is he going to look like
12:43when we're doing a bunch of playaction under center uh type of plays and we didn't see any of that.
12:50>> Six under center snaps during his final year at Indiana.
12:53>> So, it would be at the time it would be normal to be like we have no dang clue what he's going to look like in a pretty
12:59much a complete opposite styled offense.
13:01And then maybe as they've seen him work, they're getting more and more comfortable with that. Is it going to be perfect? It's obviously not going to be
13:07perfect. I think Kurt Cousins can play the guitar for for a little bit here. Uh but I think that Fernando Mendoza like
13:13physically looks the part. Like I've seen him like move a little bit. He the throw over the middle that he had was
13:19really nice. We had that big out route uh the previous game as well. Um and then obviously you have the pick six him
13:25and Mike Washington. I think both of them were were kind of at >> like Washington moved as soon as Mendoza was dropping like really cocking his arm
13:33to throw it and so Mendoza thought he was sitting. It was just a miscommunication. It's that simple.
13:38>> It happens. Mendoza gets a little bit antsy to me. But at the same time, they've been doing a lot of the under
13:43center stuff. Turn your back and then I think he's had moments doing that and then uh even the quick game under center
13:48right right away like that's like footwork that like that he never had to show at Indiana that he's starting to show here. So, u there was a a quote, I
13:55forget exactly who said it, but um that it's not just about Fernando Mendoza, they're waiting for like the rest of the
14:01Raiders >> offense to feel set >> with the Gent like if let's say Genty misses a month or so. Like I can see,
14:07you know, them them saying we're not going to put him out there when it's like Mike Washington, we don't know who's going to be our wide receiver too
14:12and that type of stuff. So, I'd still guess this is an October type of thing.
14:17Like I'm hoping by Halloween we get that. Uh but um Tom Brady initially was like he's not going to play as a rookie.
14:23I would be flabbergasted if that happened.
14:25>> Yeah. I mean I was on the podcast with Marshall New House and Ted Nin who closely follow this team and that was
14:29only a month ago less than that three weeks ago and they were certain that Mendoza would sit the vast majority of
14:35the year and to me that has flipped like that that is not going to be the case.
14:39But like you said they don't want to set him up for a Bryce Young uh Caleb Williams type situation where he just
14:46gets sacked constantly over and over and over again. So, I think the offensive line is is a huge part of it. That's for
14:52sure. Yeah. I mean, what we really liked about Fernando Mendoza, among other things, was him throwing outside the numbers and down the field. That was
14:59like the layups for him. That was easy work. But now, we've seen him go like fullfield progressions. We saw it last
15:04week. This time we saw him throwing over underneath defenders kind of in between the numbers. So, you just see things and
15:10it's all from under center, too. A lot of it's from under center. So, he's already showing kind of the uh understanding and and belief in areas
15:19that is like stretching his comfort zone, and that's exactly what you want to see from a rookie quarterback.
15:24>> My last note is on the receivers. Trey Tucker rested with the starters. He was also the wide receiver in the previous
15:31preseason game that was in the one wide receiver set. Look, and this team's going to use a bunch of different personnel groupings, so like that type
15:37of stuff does matter. So Jaylen Naylor versus Trey Tucker. If I had to take somebody in the last round and reddraft,
15:43it would be Trey Tucker over Naylor.
15:45>> Yeah. I mean, Naylor got paid this off seasonason. Jack Bash, we know, was a semi- high draft pick last year. Uh, but
15:52every single report says that Trey Tucker is going to be the wide receiver one for this team, but again, varying degrees on how much that's going to
15:58matter in this offense. Final question for you as a t as you take a sip of your coffee. Does the Ashen Genty injury do
16:05anything to your Brock Bowers ranking?
16:08>> No.
16:09>> No. Yeah, >> I don't. Yeah, >> same with me.
16:11>> I mean, I I I would easily and continue to draft Brock Bowers ahead of Ashen Genty. That only makes it easier at this
16:18point. And I still have what Brock Bowers as the uh 18th overall player.
16:25>> Like it.
16:25>> Okay. Every single team is not going to be this long. Again, that was a heck of a moment we had in fantasy football tour
16:32last night. Uh again, if you enjoy the show, hit subscribe. We have plenty plenty more to give you, including with the Houston Texans. Uh Jaden Higgins
16:39unfortunately tore his ACL last week, the secondyear wide receiver who was untapped to be out there in two wide receiver sets and have a big second
16:47season. Well, just before we start recording, they make a trade for Kahan Booty. Yes, the Patriots downfield wide receiver for very little. I mean, they
16:56gave away a sixth round secondyear player in safety Jaylen Reed and a future seventh round pick. So, where would you draft Kan Booty now? And what
17:06does he bring? And how does he fit into this Texans offense?
17:08>> You know, this is Dantavian Wix. This is Adai Mitchell. You know, like we're just throwing darts here. Um, it's going to
17:14be him versus Xavier Washington or Xavier Hutchinson for for two wide receiver sets uh snaps next to Nico Collins. Uh, Kahjan just a much better
17:23fit for this offense than the other options. everything that they've talked about when in terms of Jaylen Null has come from the perspective as like a slot
17:30only and like even their beat reporters reference Jaylen as a slot only type uh there's a chance he can be more than
17:37that but just if if that's the case they just don't they just don't have that vertical threat on the offense um like
17:43obviously that's what Nico Collins could do but they want somebody else so I don't think Hutchinson's very good I think that Kahan's better than than he
17:49is uh and I think that this will allow >> this probably a good thing for Nico Collins versus Jaden Higgins that if
17:55Kahan's going to be a low volume deep threat, all of like the crossing routes underneath stuff, slants, like in motion type of plays, uh those are going to
18:05Nico Collins now. And like to me, like this is like the perfect outcome. Xavier Hudchinson might have been so bad that
18:12the the teams would just be punting the ball too much. I think that Kahan gives you a little bit more uh than that as as
18:18a talent and I do think I would for sure take him over Hutchinson and Jaylen Null. And then the last note before I
18:24kick to you, the Tank Dell stuff seems like we're a long ways away. The B reporters are being very realistic now
18:29after seeing him. He's not gonna play for a long time. It's the most serious injury in sports pretty much um that
18:35he's coming back from.
18:36>> Yeah, the Texans wide receiver two room was just fragile behind Jane Higgins because null is a slot only player and
18:43like you said, Tank Dell, it's it's going to be still a long road to recovery despite, you know, missing all of last year. flatly. I now have Kahan
18:51Booty right next to like Romeo Dobs and Denzel Boston and Trey Tucker. That might that might be a little aggressive.
18:58That's at like wide receiver 56ish.
19:01This is a downfield passing game with like extra protection help around it.
19:06>> Yes.
19:06>> And Kan Booty last year, while his targets per route run are always going to be extremely low, uh he is someone
19:13that when the play hits, it's a big game. It's it's a big explosive. Uh, we have seen CJ Shroud have excellent
19:21moments with those downfield passing skills. Think back to his rookie season with Nico, with Tank Dell, with Noah Brown, with with all those players. Um,
19:30however, I'm with you that this makes me feel even better about the Nico Collins ranking and especially when we get down
19:37to condensed fields in the red zone.
19:38Like, he already had a massive share of this team throwing when they got inside the red zone, especially into the end
19:45zone. And despite like 16 targets in the end zone last year, only had four touchdowns, it was one of the worst
19:52efficient and least efficient uh you know touchdown scoring opportunities that a player had last year in terms of actually succeeding in those that was
20:00already going to again naturally regress into a positive direction. And this just makes me even more optimistic and certain that he's going to be the go-to
20:09player in that area of the field.
20:10>> I I love Nico Collins. Um if if he's available like somehow like early parts of round three I mean like sprints to
20:16the podium. I think that's going to be a layup line.
20:18>> Do do you think I then should move well I already have him behind. Yeah I guess my thought was it's like Rasheed Shahid
20:24and Kan Booty and then I didn't want to move him ahead of Rasheed Shahid and I kind of put him behind that area. Yeah
20:31I'm definitely not. So but it sounds like I'm higher than you but then the next tier of this to me is Trey Tucker,
20:36Caleb Dougas and Adnai Mitchell and I kind of feel like Kahan Boot is going to be ahead of those guys too. So, like
20:41this is this awkward area that don't just strictly go by the rankings necessarily, but I'm giving you like the tier of the player that I have booty in.
20:48>> Yeah. I mean, just to me, the type of role Adini Mitchell and Kahan Booty are in, it's the exact same thing. Like, I
20:54would have no disagreement if you picked one versus the other. It wasn't a huge investment that the Texans are making here, but the Patriots made it very
21:01known that Kahan Moody was not going to be on the Patriots this year, that he was going to get traded. Um, and there's
21:08at least like some familiarity, you know, what the Houston Texans is kind of like Patriot South at this point. So, I
21:13think that, uh, of all the landing spots, like this was the perfect case for for Kahan.
21:17>> Yeah. I just think his ball winning is a really great match for for CJ Stout. Um, like it was with Drake May. You know,
21:23Drake May was one of the best, if not the best, 10 plus yard pass, 15 plus yard passer in the league. And obviously
21:28the Texans are hoping CJ Stout can be that way. We need to talk about this backfield because quietly I think it's
21:34one of the bigger conversations that needs to be had this training camp. So I mean question is what he marks a thorn
21:42in Dave Montgomery's side. The answer comes from Jonathan Alexander who covers the Texans and I can go on and on about
21:49this but he just simply said that Dave Montgomery and Woody Marks will split carries somewhat evenly that the distribution of carries between Dave
21:56Montgomery and Woody Marks might not be 50/50 but it will be close. The Texans have utilized both nearly evenly throughout camp. And Hayden, this is
22:04also on the heels of maybe the best onfield action that we've ever seen from Woody Marks in this preseason week, too.
22:10>> Yeah, USC legend Woody Marks, he really stood out uh in in terms of pass protection. There was a third and four
22:16rep. Uh the Raiders had both of their linebackers up in the A gaps. Woody Marks was kind of aligned in the in the
22:22A gap like purely for pass protection.
22:24Both the linebackers drop back out into coverage. They bring a cat blitz, a corner blitz. Woody Marks then scans over to the right, not only sees it,
22:32also picks it up. They end up converting for a first down on that play because Woody Marks pass protection. There were
22:38other reps that were similar to that as well. Uh he had the best run, I would say, of his career uh that that I
22:45remember um as well. And then he played 100% of the snaps on that CJ Strad 10play drive. Obviously, David Montgomery wasn't playing, but the fact
22:53that if let's say David Montgomery gets injured, it's Woody Marks. like there's there's nobody else. It's just Woody Marks, which makes him uh encouraging
23:01versus some of the other RB2 picks. But I do think that David Montgomery and Woody Marks, I do think like of all the
23:08backfields, if someone just said you have to pick one RB2 is just straight up better than the RB1 in their own
23:14backfield, this would be one of the backfields where I can totally see that uh happening. It's not going to happen in week one, but I do think that this is
23:22a much closer committee than a lot of people are expecting. And this is not Joe Mixon coming off of his absolute
23:27prime with the Texans. This is a totally different uh situation with David Montgomery.
23:32>> To me, David Montgomery has been more fragile to draft than people have let on.
23:38>> Yes.
23:39>> On Yahoo right now, he's running back 21, the second pick of the fifth round.
23:43That's ahead of Quinchan Judkins, Bucky Irving, Bashel Tutin, Trevian Henderson, uh some other names we'll talk about a bit later on. Um, he is the prototypical
23:54dead zone running back profile because while yes, Dave Montgomery's underlying metrics have been great ever since he left the Chicago Bears and has been a
24:02part of the Detroit Lions, we do know that his opportunities decreased last year. I would say for a reason. Uh, and
24:08at the same time, again, and this is just my view, the crux of the positive in drafting Dave Montgomery was purely
24:15opportunity based. Like it was purely volume based. and that profile has come back to bite us uh in the past. It it
24:22certainly wasn't, hey, this is a great offensive line and rushing scheme. So, we want to get the lead ball carrier in
24:27that. Uh that has not been the case for the last couple of years, right? And it's not age where Dave Montgomery is
24:33at. I would not say he's in his peak prime like you just said either. So, it truly was, hey, this guy's going to
24:38verge on 250 plus carries. uh and everything that has happened from Beat Riders and Woody Marks performing in preseason out we have not seen David
24:46Montgomery is pointing to this uh being much closer than a true 1A excuse me number one versus number two uh like I
24:56think Dave Montgomery is being drafted all year long I'm closer to like running back 24 with him >> I see the same way uh we have also
25:03really loved David Montgomery and we're buying him low like for years and years like this isn't like us being like doubling down like anti-Davidgy stuff
25:10it's actually quite quite the opposite.
25:12Um, so yeah, I'm guessing Woody Marks has taken another step uh like many secondyear running backs do and they trust him a whole lot more. I think the
25:21pass protection is going to lean his way. There's also the risk the Texans offense could just be really bad. You know, the the Jaden Higgins was very
25:28important for this offense and I think Kahan's better than what they had, but that is a pretty big difference to me.
25:33Higgins versus Kahan. Uh like this offense could finish 24th in scoring this year. Like that wouldn't be that crazy to Well, the other part of that is
25:40they're still trying to figure out their offensive line. Like even going to this game that was on ESPN, Troy Eggman kept
25:45talking about Keelin Rutled being the center of the future for this team and then on the very first snap he's playing
25:51left guard and that's because, you know, Braden Smith and Wyatt Teller were not in the starting lineup for this game.
25:58That's a two-year $20 million contract and two-year$16 million contract of the veteran free agents that they brought in. And then the coaching staff goes out
26:06there and says, "Well, it's because we're still figuring out our starting five offense, like our best unit, and that might mean just back at left guard
26:14here." Like, they are still figuring that out. So, this has just been a a reshuffleling offensive line over the last few years. It plays better than it
26:21other times, you know, and who knows if it's going to gel and be a great unit, but here we are about two weeks ahead of
26:27the season, and they don't know what their starting offensive line is.
26:29>> Yeah. I fear it's like Titanic deck chairs, you know, just switching things.
26:33Does it really matter? I'm not sure if they have like real answers across that line yet.
26:37>> Uh just some more words because the Jonathan Alexander piece does add more here. Montgomery and Marks have two different styles which will allow for
26:45the Texans to mix and match them. What's more likely to happen is the Texans feed the hot hand based on whichever running
26:51back is producing at that time. Ryan's philosophy has always been to play the best player. So, I'm not saying that that's talking out of both sides of the
26:59mouth, but it is leaving the door open to Woody Marks potentially being the hot hand and not just a given that that's
27:05going to be Dave Montgomery.
27:06>> Yeah. Is there a nine round difference in terms of confidence that Montgomery is that much better than Marks? I I'm
27:11not sure. I would say that.
27:11>> Well, then let me ask you, were you taking Woody Marks?
27:15>> Um Woody Marks in my rankings, he's I moved him a lot higher. I have him close to Jordan Mason, Chris Rodriguez, Rashad
27:23White. I have him, you know, like pretty close to RJ. Harvey, Kyle Manung, like that tier of players. He was previously,
27:29you know, by Tai Spears and Al Gir and like those type of guys. I think that he's in a different different uh class
27:35at this point.
27:36>> Yeah. Like Woody Marks in consensus rankings is going as running back 44 and I I am slightly ahead of that as like
27:44running back 43.
27:47So, it's just one spot. But uh again the Dave Montgomery drafting at the top of that tier I guess we call it the top of
27:54the tier right like yeah in the fifth round.
27:57>> Yeah. Like to me DeAndre Swift and Travis Aan should be in a different conversation than Dave Montgomery. Yes.
28:02>> And then Dave Montgomery going ahead of Quinn Sean and then Bucky Irving and Bachel Tutin is the real conversation here. And I I don't feel entirely
28:10confident having Demont at the top of that list. But again >> if things go well for him he could easily pay off at that value. is just
28:17one that in the fifth round, especially where we like a bunch of those round four, five players at other positions other than running back. That's the
28:24thing. It's not necessarily the conversation with the other running backs around him. It's the other wide receivers and tight ends that and even
28:30quarterbacks that you're drafting him around.
28:32>> Yeah, I'd rather have Jarian Price.
28:34>> Oh, hello. We're back, baby. We'll talk about Price a bit later on. I've got some exciting news for you Bills fans or
28:41if you just live in the Buffalo area and watch our show. Yes, Yahoo! Fantasy Draft Weekend presented by Vers is coming to Dick's House of Sport in the
28:51Buffalo area. That is this Saturday, August 29th, 3 to 700 p.m. I will be there. Justin Boon will be there and the
29:00wide receiver guru Matt Harmon will be there as well for a special live edition of the Yahoo Fantasy Forecast. We're going to break down everything that you
29:08need to know for your fantasy draft.
29:10going to answer your questions and again it's going to be a live show for you all to sit in and watch and listen to and
29:15contribute to. Plus, we'll give away some free things along the way. So, if you're getting ready for your draft, this is the place to be. Bring your
29:23league mates, bring your friends, your fiance, your dog, whatever. Come hang out with us. We'll see you in Amherst, New York this Saturday, August 29th at 3
29:31p.m. Let's talk about the Cleveland Browns now. So, Deshun Watson has been named the starter for week one. This has, I guess, been the sense for months
29:40at this point. Another layer though was added on Saturday night. Uh, after the preseason game, Deshun Watson got on the microphone at the press conference and
29:49said, quote, "Boing had nothing to do about the performance, albeit he was booed by, you know, the home fans of the
29:56Cleveland Browns." He said, "The last time that I played on this field, the same fan base cheered uh when I tore my
30:03Achilles." And then he was asked if it makes him regret coming to the Cleveland Browns. He said, "I don't regret anything in my life." Then asked if he
30:13can overcome the negativity. He said, "I don't know. It's a mental battle every day." Uh again, he was named the starter. And then today at another press
30:22conference and apologized for what he said on Saturday. And there's a lot to unpack here. If you just want to keep it
30:29to football and say what does Sean Watson mean to, you know, Casey Conpsion and Denzel Boston and herald fan and you
30:35can do however you want or if you want to unpack it even more about his comments, go for it.
30:40>> Just a total lack of uh awareness from Deshawn, which we've known for, you know, five years at this point. And then
30:46at the same time, if you're Todd Mon, you're trying to put the best quarterback on the football field. And while, you know, it's a close call
30:54between Deshawn and Shador Sanders, uh, it seems like they've been leading towards Deshaawn Watson for a very long time, I don't think Todd Mckin gives two
31:02craps about any fan in Cleveland or elsewhere. He cares about his locker room and he's trying to win football games because this is his only chance of
31:10being a head coach in the NFL. He's an older guy and he's been in the in the league forever. So, he's just trying to
31:15get the best player on the football field. I can guarantee Todd Mon thinks Deshun Watson is the best quarterback on the team and that's the only thing that
31:23he cares about. We'll learn if that was actually uh if his evaluation between the two is correct. I think Deshun Watson and Shador Sanders have both been
31:32really bad. So uh he doesn't have a clear answer. Um and the other thing they've talked about um is two road
31:40games to start and then week three is the first home game. So you could say road road and then maybe by that point
31:46the dude played so bad where he doesn't have to go face these fans that are upset. Um so we'll see.
31:52>> Yeah. I mean if your home fans are booing the quarterback for good reason.
31:56Uh then it might be 17 road games that that you're playing here. I also don't think Deshun Watson's going to play 17
32:01games this season. We already seeing Cam Wolf and other national people say, "Hey, week three, like you said, the home debut might be the right time to
32:09play Chador Sanders and this might be the type of conversation that's that's going around here right now." I do feel bad for Browns fans.
32:18>> Again, this is the product that you've been dealt >> for many years, like decades at this point, and it's just like one decision
32:26after another. And so I I feel they're not surprised in the least by this. But at some point like you just have to be
32:33numb to this is the product that you have to support even if Browns fans are extremely loyal. Uh I would say though
32:40look towards some of the skill talent that you have because those guys are very exciting and I actually >> I really hope that this season isn't a
32:47oneandone for Todd Monkin because uh how he is handling just being honest in front of a microphone is refreshing. And uh I would like to see what he can build
32:58for at least another season beyond this.
33:00>> Yeah. And real quick on Shador because he played a lot here. It was the best he's played individually and still like
33:07there was some like pretty bad throws in terms of accuracy. He had all day to throw the ball. The the actual pockets
33:15were amazing. He was not abandoning the pocket, but at the same time there was like absolutely like nobody in his face.
33:20He was still late on some throws. I thought it was just like it looked a little bit more like NFL quarterback
33:26than it was previously. His mobility is just fine. It's not great. Um, so there's the long-term answer is not on the roster. Um, I will say uh you talk
33:34about skill players. Casey Conpsion was kept out of the game. Denzel Boston played for a little bit, not the entire Sanders half, but there's a pretty clear
33:43line between Casey Conpsion and Denzel Boston at this at this point. and Casey Conpsion should be on all your fantasy teams if you subscribe to the show.
33:52>> All right, let's talk about the San Francisco 49ers. Um, first on the field, we'll start with the strip club. Sean
33:57Stribbling, I mean, another highlight night. Uh, he had a tough hands grab on a tight window throw that was behind him. Second and 15, a gain of 11.
34:05Immediate next snap, a speed out from the slot, strong hands again to convert on third down.
34:11Another third down, ISO win, third and five, hung on to it. I mean, there was one play at the end. He would have shot
34:17up another two rounds on other people's draft boards if he hung on to the stutter and go >> down the field. So, I mean, you and I
34:24for weeks and weeks and weeks at by this point have been ahead of the market on Deshawn Stribbling. Hayden, he's still
34:31my wide receiver at 35 and I do not feel inclined to move him up at all. I feel like that's still completely high enough
34:38out there and I think we'll get to a point where other people are going to start agreeing with us on this. Yeah,
34:43he's my wide receiver 39. It was a It was a very strong performance by him. Uh I feel better and better that he's going
34:51to be a two wide receiver set starter over time. Now, he was still behind Debo and Demarcus Robinson, but every time
34:58he's out there, he gets the ball right away and his athleticism and his hands uh in traffic, like just willingness to
35:04compete over the middle stands out. So I think I think at worst they have the better athlete version of Jawan Jennings
35:10and the best case scenario they can ask him to do like some Brandon Nayuk type of stuff. We're a long ways to go but I
35:16do like uh the upside swing here. Um so yeah it's it's a good time to be at at the strip club.
35:22>> Again I filtered out only rankings that were updated in the last 24 hours. Where do you think consensus experts have des
35:32right now?
35:33>> Like 53.
35:35>> Yep. wide receiver 55. That's still way too damn low.
35:38>> I agree.
35:38>> Way too damn low.
35:39>> I agree. Yeah. Especially in reddraft.
35:41Like you're just he's the first wide receiver off the bench. Like that's that's exciting.
35:45>> I mean Hayden, you have to go on CNN seven more times to get people to draft.
35:49>> I'm trying my best. I put a damn turtleneck on to get more attention. Uh which by the way I did.
35:55>> A turtleneck at the end of August along with a sports coat on top of it is a choice. But you you pulled it off. It
36:03was electric. Uh, my call time wasn't until 10 PM. Uh, and studios are cold as hell if you ever been in a studio, so I
36:10knew what I was doing. This wasn't like LA heat. Uh, I showed up there. Uh, and I got compliments immediately on it.
36:16>> I love it. I love it. Yeah. I mean, look, if you're going to be on national television, you have to make a
36:20statement. Don't just stand out and look like everyone else with, you know, a blue button-down shirt and a navy, you know, suit on top. You got you got to
36:28look different. You got to stand out. I mean, you've been growing the mustache for 7 years at this point that you had
36:32to show it off along with a turtleneck.
36:34>> They they do have to put I did hair and makeup for this. They they had to darken up my mustache and whatever we're
36:39calling this thing because it's it's doesn't come in quite as as high as like Ron Burgundy.
36:43>> My favorite thing about that appearance for you is that you gave the most vanilla analysis that you could have possibly done. I understand the position
36:54you're in, but you're like, "Oh, yeah, these guys are all going from worse offenses to good offenses." And you could have decided, you know, Ken Walker
37:02high success rate. Like, oh, they were last in 10 plus yard runs. You're like, oh no, he's just going to the Kansas
37:07City Chiefs with Patrick Mahomes. He's going to be great.
37:10>> The the entire time they're like, we have to make the case of why we should be talking about this. Like, this has to
37:17be like a culturally relevant uh phenomenon. We do not care about your analysis. And I say like that's very fair.
37:23>> Yeah. One day share.
37:27>> It was really awesome. Okay, let's continue on. Uh actually another prospect that we were hire on the most is Kaylin Black and he's the clear
37:33running back too here for the San Francisco 49ers.
37:35>> And what immediately popped just like it did at Indiana. We thought he was the best pass protecting running back in
37:40this class.
37:41>> And that showed up in this game. I mean I think it was the second snap of the game. It was a Dion Henley blitz
37:46straight up the middle and he perfectly perfectly executes it and pushes them off to the side. Uh that is being from
37:53the cold to the sideline to on the field and executing a responsibility to a team.
37:58>> Yeah, two key pass protection uh reps against Blitzers. That Henley one was like the the the one that really stood
38:04out. Um I thought that he also picked the right hole, the right pacing on all of his rush attempts. The offensive line
38:08says like that he plays with great pacing and it's not because he's the fastest player. It's more like Blake Cororum, Kairen Williams to me where
38:17they just play faster than their athleticism because they just have a good feel. Um, that's pretty hard to find. That's promising. Jordan James
38:26going to come back from injury, make this a real competition. But right now, they drafted him in the third round to
38:31be the RB2. Everything I've read about and everything I've seen with my own eyes, uh, leads me to believe that he
38:39would be the RB2 ahead of Jordan James.
38:41he goes undrafted in like all formats, >> you don't have to draft him in reddraft, but he better be at the very top of your
38:49waiverwire um list and have that little star mark there. And if you do want to draft him and hold on to him, I don't
38:55think that's the worst case either.
38:56>> Two injury updates here for the 49ers.
38:57Uh George KD has been removed from the PUP list. I have said this whole time that as soon as he's ready for week one,
39:05he's going to climb a full round. He's still tied in nine in consensus rankings out there. And for me, I have him as
39:11Titan 7 ahead of the likes of Harold Fayen and Cal Pittz. Anything else you want to add? We've talked about that
39:16before.
39:17>> Yeah, I'm curious to see see what they're going to do in week one and if they're actually going to like slow play
39:21his return or if they're just going to be desperate and let this thing rip uh all the time. He's an older guy. The
39:26Achilles tear was late in the season.
39:28So, he's he has to be the outlier, but George KD has been literally the outlier for his entire career. So, up to you
39:33guys on the risk.
39:34>> And then the final one, Chris McAffrey returned to practice. He did reveal and said that this was all part of the plan
39:42that he was going to practice for 10 days then sit for 10 days and then start up all over again. Uh Hayden, one, do
39:50you believe him? And two, do you want to do that for this show where we go for 10 days and then take 10 days off and then
39:56we come back?
39:57>> That would that would be refreshing. Um I don't know if what to believe. Um, I'm going to take CMC's word for this and
40:04then just turn it right back to Shanahan and be like, why not just say this?
40:09Like, why do we have to do this tightness thing? Like, were they like not on the same page? And maybe like CMC
40:13was like, this is what I'm doing. And the 49ers didn't want him to do that. I don't know. Something something's up
40:17here. I don't really care. Uh, fifth or sixth overall, depending on if you like JT or JSN or CMC better. I think we all
40:26know what we're signing up for. he's going to win your league or he's going to be there's going to be a setback
40:30because he's dealing with tightness and coming off a million touches.
40:32>> Yeah, I was on Greg Rosenthal's show NFL Daily on Friday and he basically said that as a former fantasy guy. Last year
40:41was the time to draft CMC, which all of you did because we suggested you do it and it turned out great and this is the
40:47year not to do it. So like don't just make that mistake two times in a row based on all the touches that he got
40:51last year. And again, he wasn't efficient at all on those touches. he just got them all >> because he was the only offensive player
40:58uh still on the field. And so uh yeah, later on this week, I think we both have episodes of our least favorite pick in
41:04every round. Uh I wonder if CMC is going to pop up there for for either of us.
41:08>> Uh he will not on mine, but he might for you.
41:10>> Well, then he will not for mine either.
41:13Yeah. I mean, this team has just been so ky with injuries over the last few years. I mean, we still don't know. I'm
41:18sure Nick Bosa is actually sitting out because he wants, you know, some new guaranteed money. Uh but then there's an injury label on that. We know all about
41:27like the Trent Williams stuff previously with this team and then obviously Chris McCaffrey a couple years ago like Ricky Pieraw they just do not handle injuries
41:36exactly how you want them to and so it I think it's easy to poke holes in hey this was the plan all along but who
41:43knows it might be real and it might help them out. other plan was the plan that the owner should be, you know, in
41:47trailer parks, you know. Uh, >> so I I'll read this news. This is from because you will not see from NFL
41:52insiders other than the, uh, you know, announcement that the 49ers posted. Uh, quote, Jeg York, who is the CEO or owner
42:00of the 49ers, uh, pleaded no contest to criminal charges after being arrested on suspicion of engaging in prostitution in Ohio over the weekend, according to
42:08court documents. And you say, well, where in Ohio? That's a large state.
42:12Could it be, you know, Columbus? Could Could it be Cleveland? Well, he was actually arrested at what, 9:30 a.m. in a section
42:23called, quote, Wheat Hill Mobile Home Community. Aiden, I hear that Wheat Hill is the place you really want to visit uh
42:30at the end of August. It's peak season.
42:32Everything is green and it smells wonderful there.
42:34>> I will say I I I went on Google Maps looking to see like, okay, how bad was this? It was pretty nice for for a
42:39mobile home park. But I will say if you are a billionaire or if you know your team is about to travel all the way to
42:46Australia, I would probably you know uh rather be um in San Francisco and be preparing for that type of stuff. But uh
42:53yeah, he also could just go to the strip club instead of uh doing whatever he was doing in this mobile home park. So not a
42:59good look. We'll see if the NFL is like actually gonna uh come down with stuff.
43:03I think that with um Robert Craft like the the charges were dropped. He pled no contest. So maybe like there's some
43:11admission of guilt. There's also body cam footage. Like you just never know what's going to come up from this. But obviously just a terrible terrible look.
43:18It's not going to matter for anything that we we care about, but just terrible look.
43:20>> Let's do some split back fields. Okay, we touched on this on Thursday. The New York Giants uh added Naji Harris. Now in
43:28their preseason game, Cam Scataboo did not play. Deon Singleary did play and he played ahead of Tyrone Tracy who then later fumbled. Uh I think Devin
43:36Singutary was back there for either kick returns or punt returns. And then Tyron Tracy was on like kick coverage on top
43:43of this as well. Yeah. Um now the other layer added on is Jordan Ranon had this quote that Naji Harris has brought in
43:50under the premise that he's going to be a significant contributor to this backfield. So I know you've been actively drafting Cam Scaboo this off
44:00seasonason. How are you interpreting Naji Harris being involved here? I think he's going to be the RB2. Um, and I think that Tyrone Tracy, they they have
44:08kept four running backs before. I think that's their tenative plan. If somebody wanted to trade for Tyrone Tracy, um, I can see that. Devin Singleary, he's kind
44:17of just been like steady yeti RB3. But yeah, Tyrone's been making too many mistakes. It's a new regime, so you never know. I think that, you know, on
44:25the margin, this this matters for Cam Scato, like Naji Harris in theory can get some goal line snaps. like if Scatu
44:30is not fully himself and like maybe Naji Harris mixes in a little bit more than otherwise. Uh but I still feel good that
44:37Cam Scatter is going to be the RB1. I moved him down behind some like the wide receivers over there. I would rather
44:42have DeAndre Swift than Cam Scataboo straight up. But then once you kind of get down to a tier, I just don't see the
44:48upside cases that present themselves as cleanly as Cams does. Like this the offensive line has a chance to be decent and he catches passes and he's the goal
44:56line back and he was good just last year. like if you check all four of those boxes, could he be uh you know the
45:03RB10 this year? I think it's like possible. Um and I think once you go down too many running backs in a row, I
45:09think it's a little bit harder to find that profile.
45:11>> I feel like DeAndre Swift has escaped this tier now and he might be in like a tier of his own behind the Travis A Chan
45:17and then you have DeAndre Swift, then you have the glut of all those other running backs that we've kind of already
45:21discussed.
45:22>> He seems like such a solid pick. Yes.
45:25right now where >> for five seasons you would never call DeAndre Swift a safe or solid pick. He's had an impeccable preseason. We have
45:34talked at length about how this team really focused in on types of runs and successful areas that he has and they
45:41are kind of building the rushing attack around that plus the Manungai injury that he's coming back from still. Um, yeah. I mean, I'm happy to draft DeAndre
45:51Swift if I end up at like the third or fourth spot and I'm privileged to cha take Jamar Chase or Pukuna and I'm going
45:59to miss again that round two and three area of running backs because that's not great there. DeAndre Swift might be my
46:04first running back off the board with that.
46:06>> Yes. And like you're like praying that he falls to that spot. I did read a report that the Kyle Manungai injury it
46:11like could be like a six-w weekek injury and like the the the Bears are bracing that the opening couple weeks of the
46:17season will just be DeAndre Swift. It will not be with Kyle Manungai. So MCL's is a huge range. Um I saw at least one
46:25uh Bears beat reporter thinking that this might be a like closer to you know the six week side of things rather than
46:30back in two weeks.
46:32>> Wow. Wow. Wow. Yeah. Draft Andrew Swift.
46:35Uh final point here on the Giants.
46:38Malachi Fields sat after the first series in this game. Darius Leightton and Calvin Austin continue to play.
46:44>> Yep.
46:44>> Um so again, this is Malachi Fields maybe moving up and up and up as you know the ex wide receiver and then you
46:52get Malik Neighbors and like the movement Z and that's exactly what we want here. Um and Malik Neighbors apparently according to Jordan might be
46:59shedding his red contact jersey this week. It might not. We'll see. Okay, another split backfield. Pittsburgh Steelers here. So Mike Veiano, we've
47:09seen Mike Defabo, multiple Steelers writers or insiders have gone through Steelers camp say they expect Rico Dattle to be the leader in this running
47:19back committee. Uh it has not been drafted this way. I know you haven't been drafting it in that way. So I just
47:26would kind of like your input on if you expect Rico Dat to lead this team in touches. Uh, no. I think it's gonna be
47:35Jaylen Warren. Um, I in this game it was Jaylen Warren with who started. He played the entire first drive which is
47:42just three plays and then Rico D played the second drive which was four plays and then they each played six snaps in
47:48the final drive. Just for my money, I think Jaylen Warren looks a lot better.
47:53He had a great pass protection rep. Uh, I think that he runs with like a little bit of like pep in his step in terms of
47:58like like short area burst and also he's got a little side to side wiggle. I think Rico D was a find back. Uh I
48:05didn't love that he was wearing number 13. That threw me kind of uh for a loop there. Don't don't love that. But yeah,
48:12I think that the incumbent I think that he's got, you know, the the pass game role. And uh Jaylen Warren has been like
48:17fairly effective in some goal line situations over the years. He's a he plays way tougher than his size would indicate. Just watching them back and
48:24forth, I just think that Jaylen Warren's a better player than Rico Davo is. I gotta be honest, I don't end up with
48:30either of these guys very often because if we talk about Jaylen Warren on Yahoo, he's going at the beginning of the
48:36seventh round. Still, Parker Washington is going after him. George KD is going after him. Uh, and then, you know, Rico Do's going at the top of the eighth
48:46round, and I can take quarterbacks like Brock Pury in that area, you know, if I've waited. So, for some reason, I'm
48:53just not ending up with this running back room very often. Ben Gretch did have a great staff though. That six running backs got 85 targets last year.
49:01Five of those six are going in the top two rounds. The sixth one was obviously Kenny Gainwell who is no longer on this
49:07team. But we have seen a consistent part of Aaron Rogers, you know, passing attacks over the last years has been, hey, the running back's going to get a
49:15whole bunch of targets. So, one of these guys will probably get close to that 70 target range and that's a lot. like
49:24that'll be top seven for running backs out there.
49:27>> I do draft Jaylen Warren actually a lot for my RB3 in the flex. Um I think he's a better fit.
49:32>> That's why I want to bring it up.
49:33>> Yeah, I think he's a better fit when the offense like you just look at the history of McCarthy a little bit more uh
49:38pass first then run first and then with Rogers, we saw it last year and I still think between the tackles and just as a
49:46pure ball carrier, I still think that Jaylen Warren's better than Rico Donald.
49:49So, >> all right, Hayden versus the Beats.
49:51>> That's right.
49:51>> Who wins? We'll find out. Carolina Panthers. Uh let's start with the running back since that's the theme here. So Chuba Hubard says he is healthy
49:59at this point and that the training staff is just playing it safe, keeping him out of practice here. Uh Chuba had a
50:06calf issue like halfway through last season. That's when you know Rico Ditto had his explosion uh and then tried to come back too quickly and then still the
50:14injury kind of carried itself throughout. So it seems like the coaching staff and the training staff is trying to prevent that from happening
50:20here once again. However, Dave Canal got in the mic and said, "Yeah, we expect this to be a split backfield." And
50:26Hayden, I know you even pointed out that uh he said a lot of first and second down roles and then third down and
50:33passing situations. I'm not going to go against a head coach who's going to make a lot of these calls. That sounds like a
50:38very rigid approach for guys who I actually think have somewhat overlapping skill sets in these areas. So, I think it's going to be kind of difficult to
50:45delineate who was who in this.
50:48>> Yes, I I agree. I will say the question said, "Is this going to be a committee and what is he gonna say?" No, the other
50:54guy's not going to play. So, this is like one where it's like it's a headline if you like question.
50:59>> Yes. He's like, "What are you supposed to say?" No, Brooks stinks, man. Like, it's obviously just going to be Chubo or
51:04he's not or the inverts. Like, he's going to say, "Yeah, both these guys are going to play and guess what was anyone
51:08drafting either one of these guys not expecting the other one to mix in?"
51:11Like, we knew this is going to be committee. Like, to me, this just comes down to who is better at football, Chuba
51:15Hubard or Jonathan Brooks? We have to get that right. And I think there's room for debate. Um, I think it's been
51:20encouraging that Jonathan Brooks has been out there. Can I say I've been wowed by Jonathan Brooks? I can't. In fact, I think he looks maybe a little
51:26bit sluggish in his lateral ability, at least in pass protection. Uh, was a big concern this last game. Uh, I also think
51:34that using last year's splits is difficult to trust because one, Chuba was coming back from injury and also Rico Dattle is like very one-dimensional
51:44in a way where Chuba you can kind of like he can kind of fit into whatever Rico's uh uh weaknesses are. And I think
51:51that like you said, Chuba and Jonathan Brooks are pretty similar and it's just who's better at football. And I think that the Panthers are trying to figure
51:58that out as they try to evaluate Jonathan Brooks. I think there's enough time where in week one, I think Chuba Hubard leaves with more touches than
52:06Jonathan Brooks. And then as the season progresses, Brooks is going to have to steal that job away from Chuba Hubard.
52:11And I just find it interesting that the ADPs, they haven't just like flipped.
52:14They're like we're back to where it was where it's there's a pretty big gap between them. And I I have not chased
52:20Jonathan Brooks up the board personally.
52:23But I understand if you think that he's a much better player than Tuba Hubard.
52:26I'm just waiting for more concrete evidence that's actually coming uh into fruition.
52:30>> Yeah. If we just look at consensus rankings, Jonathan Brooks is 82nd overall and then Chuba Hubard is 92nd overall. Uh I do have Jonathan Brooks
52:39ranked ahead of Chuba Hubard. Again, I am not drafting a whole bunch of this section of running backs. I want my guys
52:45earlier and then I want to take my shots and some of the names a bit later on in this. This is kind of the section I'm
52:49just >> avoiding overall. I think it's also under the radar that the Panthers are going through some offensive line changes, you know. Um hopefully Damen
52:58Lewis and Robert Hunt play at left guard and right guard, but they have a new center in town. They have a new left
53:01tackle and they have a new right tackle.
53:03Albeit the right side of Robert Hunt and Monroe feeling can move some people.
53:08Like that is that is cool stuff. Um so yeah, I I'm ranking Jonathan Brooks ahead. I just simply wouldn't say, hey,
53:15Jonathan Brooks is the best pass better pass catcher, so he's gonna play on third downs. Because last year when Ty Rico Dattle, Dave Canal said that Chuba
53:23Hubard was their passing down back because he was better in pass protection and also had some receiving skills on top of it. Jonathan Brooks had a whiff
53:30early on in this preseason matchup, but then came back and had a nice pickup a bit later on, too. So, it's uh yeah,
53:38this one's still up in the air, I would say. It's going to be up in the air for the whole >> He's just going to watch the games and
53:44then we're going to learn. In three weeks, we're going to be like, "Oh, it's very obvious that one's better than the
53:49other until one picks up an injury and then the other guy's the the one to draft." I think it's a fair point. You
53:54can say, "I'm not drafting Panthers running backs this year." I think that's a totally reasonable take. I will say Chuba Hubard quietly does have a top 15
54:01fantasy running back season under spell.
54:02That happened two years ago. So, people are kind of forgetting that part, >> right? And this Panthers team runs the ball when they're good at it and they
54:08run the ball when they're bad at it.
54:09>> Yeah. It doesn't matter. But yes, I think after the first game of the season, we're going to have so much more
54:15information than we will have after three games in the preseason.
54:19>> Yes, I I think the news was Chuba is ready to go for week one. The news was not that we learned anything about what
54:25the split's actually going to be. It's just let the best man win and we're going to see what happens in week one
54:30because both will be will be available.
54:33>> Uh other thing, quick note, Harmon pointed out that both Ted McMillan and Jayen Coker have been the slot 40% of
54:39the time. Now, unfortunately, Xavier Legette is back in a walking boot with a uh foot/ ankle injury. So, uh that might
54:48restrict some of the slot alignments for both. But it's very clear that they know that, hey, slot work for these big wide
54:56receivers is an easy button and we're going to get both of them to do it and not just one of them.
55:01>> If they need me to be the sacrificial X and I'll just run in a straight line to make these guys be the slot receivers,
55:06that's all we need. It'll be It doesn't I don't care who it's going to be.
55:09Somebody's gonna run fast down the sideline and then these two guys are going to work over the middle and that's how how it should work.
55:13>> More backfield stuff. Let's talk about Seattle Seahawks. Uh Jadarian Price has been shut down for the rest of the preseason. Here's a quote from beat
55:20writer Greg Bell. Mike McDonald general manager John Schneider have seen enough of Price's speed, decisiveness, and cutting into outside zone run gaps and
55:28his pass catching to know Price is too valuable and the running back room too thin by injuries already this preseason to risk the rookie lead back in these
55:36games that don't count. So Hayden, I don't think we're gonna see Jirenian Price touch the ball a single time in a
55:41preseason game. The other part of this is he's also been in and out of practice. Um, right. I think you can
55:48interpret this two ways based on your evaluation of the situation. Mine is, hey, last season this team split the backfield so much to keep someone
55:57healthy that they are just treating Jarian Price with like a white glove with kid gloves in a way to like keep
56:05him in bubble wrap until the season starts and unleash him there. But then other people can say, well, they're shutting him down for the rest of pra
56:12rest of training camp because they don't want him to get hurt anymore. So yeah, I would hear your argument on either side.
56:19this would fall into like just August BS behind the scenes. They don't have to announce anything. We just don't know.
56:25The the hard part with Jadarian is like ESPN's reporter, this was like just before training camp, said that they did not draft Price with the thought that
56:32he'd become a high volume starter. He's going to share time, wait for Zack Charban to return. Then there's other reporters he's been great as a receiver,
56:38but pass protection's been bad. Now it's like, is he not playing because he's so good or is he not playing because he's
56:44injured? We don't know. I think that's the reality of it. I think it's a good situation to be in. The fact that
56:49there's like relative no-namers behind him and they drafted him where they did, it would make sense to me that until Zack Shar returns, he is in a pretty
56:57awesome role to have and that he would be an RB2 flex. Uh, and a lot of those running backs that he's being drafted
57:04around, we're learning they're not the starter. Like Trayvon Henderson is not the Patriots starter. He has been going ahead of Jerian Price. we're starting to
57:12chop off a bunch of guys around him to the point where uh there's kind of a soft spot in drafts and if I don't want
57:18a quarterback, I am kind of looking at like Jarian Price is like let's let's see what happens here. And then with
57:23Zack Sharon, I haven't really seen his name pop up in the last, you know, week or so, uh maybe they're starting to get
57:29more realistic about when his surgery was. But that's like the other thing where just everything about this is uncertain. But he does not have that
57:36much fantasy hype for being a first round running back on a team that just won the Super Bowl. So, I think he's a
57:40fine pick. Yeah, I said everything I needed to say in monthly episode where I outlined the 14 players I'm betting the
57:46fantasy season on. Jerian Price was one of those. Um I mean Sam Darnold even said quote, "He's a special player. He's
57:52really special whether it's catching passes out of the backfield, catching screens, running between the tackles, outside the tackles, he can really do it
57:57all." And as you know in the broadcast last night, they interviewed him on the side and he again brings up Jerry Price.
58:02So again, consensus rankings have him as running back 25 and I'm well ahead at running back 22. Uh maybe it stings me,
58:10but I just think that it's not gonna be as rigid as it was last year. In the games that Zack Sharney does miss, we
58:16have Jerian Price unleashed and then from there is Zack Shar going to come back to exactly what he was last season.
58:23I'm just going to bet against that and think that Jiren Price is going to win out and earn more and uh has a chance of
58:29>> really outperforming where he's going right now.
58:31>> Yep. Yep. All fair.
58:33>> Denver Broncos backfield. So JK Diamonds again did not play in this one. RJ Harvey played over Jonah Coleman still on that first drive. Caught a touchdown
58:43just outside the red zone, but it was very similar to like the red zone touchdowns that he caught those package plays that Shawn Peyton dowed up for him
58:49last year. Now I bring that up >> because Graham Barfield was pointing this out that Broncos running backs ranked seventh, fourth, and first in
58:57running back receptions over the last three seasons. RJ Harvey even had the eighth most receptions among running backs last year. So, while you and I had
59:05this long conversation last week about if JK Dobbins goes down, it'll most likely be Jonah Coleman versus R.J.
59:11Harvey inheriting that. At the same time, should we completely lose track that RJ Harvey is going to have a role in this offense?
59:19>> Yeah, he's definitely going to have a role. I think just trying to figure out exactly how valuable that role is. There
59:25is absolutely an obsession between Shawn Payeyton and RJ Harvey from the 22 yard line. I mean, this was this happened the
59:33entire season. Uh, even when he was struggling and then we immediately see it. A big wheel route against a linebacker is a good catch by R.J.
59:40Harvey. It's how you should be using RJ Harvey. I think that he's still too inconsistent as a rusher to give him
59:46like a high volume of carries. Um, but he's very explosive, so designing him touches like this, I do think takes uh
59:54his strengths and and applies him in a in a good spot. So, um, after that, Jonah Coleman plays in. Uh, and I
60:01thought Jonah Coleman looked totally fine. There's clearly a difference between Jonah Coleman's athleticism and RJ Harvey. It takes about one play each
60:07to to learn about that. Um, but yeah, I think R.J. Harvey is going to have some value. Maybe we overstate that value,
60:15but I think that, you know, he I think where he gets drafted is a fine enough price tag for >> the second drive that they played. Jonah
60:20Coleman also played a full drive with Bo Knicks, too. So, it wasn't like, hey, he's only with the second team. They
60:26just cycle the two running backs in that way. I did want to bring it to the Chargers because we did get to see Katon
60:32Mitchell coached by Mike McDaniel. He played a number of snaps. And what I like the most, Hayden, is that you saw
60:39all of like the Devon Achan CMC yo-yo motions with him as a pass catcher. Like he wouldn't start lined up next to the
60:48quarterback. He would start kind of in the void in the gap between the tight ends and the wide receivers and motion
60:54in obviously that would be like a you know manzone tell but at the same time it would create some natural space for
61:00him too. So you can tell hey Mike McDaniel is not doing that for Marian Hampton he's not doing that for Kamani
61:06Vid Doll. So he has this in mind just for Katon Mitchell. I have the exact same notes. Like he's doing this on
61:12purpose. Like we should be reading like the man that put the wanted poster up is also using him in fun ways and it
61:18worked. Like they're trying to get him to be a pass catcher which we did not know that Keen Mitchell was going to do
61:23that because he's never done that in the pros and they're experimenting with it if you've been watching the training camp. And then you watch it in the
61:29preseason there he goes catching a wheel route down the sideline. Um >> I think he is an awesome pick in fantasy. I will say this, the interior
61:38offensive line has me extremely nervous.
61:40Cole Strange snaps, the left guard was like he couldn't he just couldn't move.
61:46And then now we have uh a center um who they did not want to start. So the three offensive linemen, it could be one of
61:53these these teams where McDaniel is a great coordinator. He's gonna have to scheme around this. U but maybe that means even more Ke Mitchell to to the
62:01perimeter.
62:02>> Yeah. So this is a team that back in June, you know, we were having conversations, hey, can Lad Makoni be
62:10this versions of this year's version of JSN where, you know, they run more heavier sets and the offense shocks people and it becomes top five in
62:18scoring. I am nervous of the jump of going from like 16th in scoring up to top six because of the offensive line at
62:26this point. Like you said, the right guard snaps from Cole Strange were horrible. The center stuff was not good.
62:30The left guard stuff was not good. And so you have like the two tackles and then the left one has been injured for
62:36the vast majority of camp too. And that can just limit what your stealing is going to be, you know. And so that does
62:42make me nervous of just this team completely shattering expectations.
62:48That's not to say it like takes me away from necessarily drafting uh some of these players I'm consistently doing, but it does leave me wondering if like
62:55the high-end outcome is a real possibility. Yeah, I I think I ranked him like 10th or so in like offenses, like projected scoring this year, which
63:04is like a good offense. It's not like the top one. It's also a work in progress just in terms of the first year
63:08in the scheme and whatnot. Got some answers elsewhere. Charlie Kohler's a starting tight end. It was David and Jooku ahead of Aronda Gadson as well. Um
63:17Charlie Kohler, they got him uh a catch early on as well. Brennan Thompson, who I really liked as a prospect. Uh he was
63:24out there starting in two wide receiver sets next to Lad Mani with QJ and Trey Harris not being out there. But um I
63:30could see this being like a four wide receiver rotation where he's actually getting some snaps. I think he's like kind of looked the part and then you
63:36know I always just get nervous about Omar and Hampton's ADP. Like the more I watch Katon Mitchell and the offensive line and stuff like you can see how he's
63:43not going to be a stone cold bust but could he be the RB13 this year and he drafted him 13th overall? like that's
63:49that's to I can see that uh happening this year. Um so yeah, I don't drop him too much.
63:54>> Okay, flash ranking. Rank these running backs. Chris Rodriguez, Katon Mitchell, Woody Marx, Taj Spears.
64:04>> Oh man. Um I have Katon Mitchell the highest. I got Chris Rodriguez there.
64:09Woody Marx, and then Tai Spears. Um >> okay.
64:13>> I think Katon Mitchell is easily the most fun of that group. Um, and I think that his ceiling is is the highest. Just
64:21like if you have one of these bonker seasons where he averages seven yards per carry and he gets 10 touches a game,
64:27like that's enough.
64:28>> Yeah. Again, the season that Raheem Moser was the running back three and Devon Chan was a running back four in points per game
64:38was, you know, the Dolphins scoring like the second most points in the league.
64:42Uh, but that was also, you know, Devon Achan having huge explosives from outside the red zone and then once they got inside the red zone, it was Raheem
64:50Oard scoring a ludicrous amount of touchdowns. The most of a 30 plus year old since like John Riggins.
64:55>> Yeah.
64:56>> And so again, I think perfectly that would be like the Maron Hampton, Katon Mitchell, both are good picks at their value.
65:05>> I have my doubts that I think I think defenses >> That's why I said perfect.
65:09>> Yeah, I I think defenses have adjusted to this. It's still an awesome scheme, but there's been some adjustments being made.
65:14>> That was also to a quarterback and not Justin Herbert.
65:17>> Yeah. That was also like Devon Chan like averaging like nine yards per touch.
65:20>> Correct. Yes. Yes. And Devon Chan is a superstar.
65:23>> Yeah.
65:24>> Um I guess quickly let's talk about that Titans group because once again they uh played starters in the preseason. We
65:31don't need to talk about their defense that got torched by the Seattle Seahawks second team for two long touchdowns with their starting defense on the field.
65:38um the running back room. Again, we kind of saw a 50-50 split here where Tony Pard got the first long-ish drive. I
65:44think it was about eight plays with the starters, played all of them, and then Taj Spears popped in there for the next
65:51four plays, including a fourth and one that he was stuffed on. Then again, the starters came out for the third drive
65:56and he was in there again. So, it kind of felt like they have planned to go series by series here in the preseason.
66:03Uh, I guess the question is, do you think they go series to series once the regular season starts?
66:08>> I actually can see this being a driveby drive rotation where Tony Pard starts out of each halftime and then Tai Spears
66:15gets out there. I think it's, you know, two similar styled backs um where they can play on on any situation to varying
66:23degrees of success. Um, and I think that third drive, I'm guessing they didn't want to have a third drive with the
66:29first team offense, but they had played so poorly early on that they wanted more snaps out there and they weren't going
66:34to have Tony Pard play, you know, the third drive as a veteran. So, I'm going to guess week one, it's driveby drive
66:41rotation. Is that is that what you want to see? Uh, it's not. I have some I I once again have some question marks
66:49about this this offense after what what I watched in the past game again.
66:54How through two preseason games can you not force a catch to the number four overall pick in the NFL draft? That is
67:01disheartening and it's discouraging looking ahead to the start of the NFL season and our fantasy drafts. Yeah, Cam Ward put a ball out of bounds uh on a
67:10like just like a normal fade route like you know 20 yards down the sideline and then I will say with uh Carell Tate
67:17there was a crossing route where he initially had some separation and then the corner like immediately caught up to him and then that ball was also sailed
67:24by the time it arrived. So accuracy problems have have been there for Cam Ward. Cam Ward escaped the the pocket and then got fumb another fumble. I
67:34mean, it's it's every single game with with Cam Warden these stink fumbles. Um, and it's like the timing in everything is so RPO play action. Try to get it
67:42out, but Cam's just like, you know, slinging it like he's in the backyard.
67:46There's no rhythm to this offense. And like I >> I think they also have a day ball problem and an offensive line problem.
67:52>> Yes. Um, at least I'll say this, there was no wide receiver rotation. Like that was that happened in preseason week one.
67:58It was back to just Ridley and Tate on the outside, Juanell in the slot.
68:02There's gonna be a lot of Wandell receptions. They might go for three yards, but I mean that's that's like the best thing they've got going is these
68:08like Wandel Robinson hit routes for for three yards.
68:10>> Yeah, that's what they can complete at this point. Now, >> it's funny after the Kim Ward fumble, which again, he just can't let a play
68:18die. I was like, he has to learn how to do this. And then the next snap runs around and then finds Gunnar Helm
68:24for like a 30-yard gain and then Helm can't get his second foot in in bounds.
68:28But uh again, that's like this tight rope he has to learn and it's been two very negative plays that we've seen over
68:34the last two weeks and at least one per game it felt like last year >> and he hasn't mastered that style yet.
68:42>> I kind of want him I want him to be the Jordan Love bounce in the pocket and throw the ball downfield, not like
68:46scramble around doing a Mahomes impression type of stuff. Like I just don't think he has like the athletic traits to to pull that off long term.
68:53And I'm not sure if Daveball has all the answers with this offensive line. I'm hashtag nervous about uh Cardinal Tate's ADP. Like if you want to draft Casey
69:01Conpion over Cardinal Tate, I especially in full PPR, I totally get it.
69:06>> Packers Marshon Lloyd is a locked in running back, too. I will say Hayden, I don't think I've been impressed by him
69:12as an individual runner, but he did have a nice angle route touchdown in this one.
69:17>> Yep. See, the same way he's uh he's an excited runner, and I think, you know, that's complimentary and derogatory. Um,
69:25so I think we see it the same way. Yeah.
69:27Awesome. Uh, that they got him a touch like that in the red area. That that's promising for him. Um, the guy that
69:33continues to stand out on tape to me is Matthew Golden. He had that and one reception and, uh, even early on. I I
69:39like this sometimes like only a couple plays per game. They'll be off coverage and the two wide receivers will run the
69:45exact same route. You can kind of see like who's like who's fast, who's not.
69:49And Christian Watson and Matthew Golden were running the same exact route. And Matthew Golden was notably faster in the straight line and coming out of his
69:57break on that rep. Uh so just hashtag noticing that Matthew Golden looks extremely fast out there and the reports have been pretty uh positive. You can
70:06still get him in the hundreds on Yahoo.
70:08I I just I truly do not get it.
70:10>> Yeah. Again, this you know name kind of changes on a weekly basis. Matthew Golden might be the most mispriced pick in fantasy
70:18football at at this point. I mean, I've had him up at wide receiver 40 for it feels like weeks at this point. And then
70:26if you look just over on his consensus rankings, Matthew Gordon is wide receiver 50. And even in home league drafts, especially on Yahoo, he's
70:35going later than that.
70:36>> Yeah, he's a first round pick on a team that's good. Like, >> yeah. And I don't even love going back
70:42and watching his, you know, rookie season stuff. And yet, I am still well ahead of market on where he should be
70:48going right now. It's a pretty easy pick to make, that's for sure.
70:53>> I also love the force plays with pre- snap motion for Christian Watson. Like, we're going to get some easy releases.
70:57Like, it's it's going to go well. I still like that pick quite a bit.
71:00>> Uh, should we do a quick hitters? I mean, we're an hour and 10 minutes into this.
71:05>> Jaguars, something that we haven't talked about enough, I feel like, is that they are totally reworking their offensive line. And as Brett Coleman put
71:13it, there's a chance that 80% of them might be playing in different spots this year. So Anton Harrison is moving from
71:20right tackle to left tackle. They have Cole Van Lannon who just returned to practice after injury is now moving over to the right side. He has played there
71:27before but you know starting now. One of the right guard or left guard spots is up for grabs after Patrick Mccari's
71:34injury. It might be you know a third round rookie and Emanuel Pregnon. Um and then they have other injuries to their
71:39swing offensive lineman. So this was kind of the case with them last They were bringing in some new names, too.
71:45But, uh, we always talk about successful rushing attacks and maybe Liam Cohen already did some self scouting and said, "Hey, rather than the explosives, we
71:52just want the four, six, eight rushing yard per carry stuff." And uh, maybe that's what they're going to get this year.
72:00>> He probably knows he's not getting 10 yard carries behind this offensive line.
72:03I will say this, >> Jacksonville's offensive line was not good last year. Um, but I think they will also not be good this year. So, um,
72:11I would put Liam Con inside my top five, uh, in terms of, you know, run game play designers and just a feel for the
72:17running back position in general. Um, so we'll see about this. Uh, this is like the type of things that like works against teams on the margins
72:27and like when we could like perhaps overrate an offense, it's like these type of things kind of can come back to
72:32to bite them. And they had an easy schedule at certain points in the season last year and beat up on some bad teams
72:37that got really hot at the end. and their defense was cruising and then like all of a sudden like you're like really
72:42sitting there and like ranking teams like one through 32 like Jacksonville like sometimes like is like ranked 16th and you're like oh that's kind of
72:48surprising but like it's like for reasons like you said here is like why they might be like a tier below than
72:54what you might think >> at the same time if you want to take the negative angle here the reason why some teams don't live up
73:01to their projected team totals is because their offensive line and you can kind of poke holes in how not necessarily their bad talents but the
73:07changing talents of this uh might lead to some stretches of some poor play.
73:13>> Yeah.
73:13>> So, yep.
73:14>> Jacobe Myers also has a brace in his right hand right now. I think we're still gathering information on that.
73:18Hopefully, he plays in week one.
73:20>> Uh Washington Commanders, Bill is currently limited with an undisclosed injury. Uh he'll be rested for the rest of this week. Hayden, uh hopefully we
73:29get more information before, you know, practices go dark because Bill Crosky Merritt has been one of my favorite running back picks later on the board.
73:36>> Yeah, full full agree. Uh, I've been taking shots at both of the commanders running backs. Um, but yeah, don't don't
73:43love to see it. And we're not going to give that much information at this point moving forward. Um, another player that's not practic Myers like DK Mechaf.
73:51We just like don't know. He's not there.
73:52We just we just don't know.
73:53>> I don't think I have drafted DK Mechaf like one time.
73:55>> Yeah, one time.
73:56>> There's a the seventh round. I've been on the clock sometimes. I'm like, could I just like skip to to round eight? Like
74:02just I'm just going to wave my rights to this pick. Um, and so sometimes I do click click >> Metaf Golden round seven.
74:08>> No, I lit I would I would I I would I'd rather do that. I just know I can draft him to the 10th.
74:12>> Hayden, when you get to round seven, that's when you just click Deshan Strippling's name. That's it.
74:18>> For real. For real. Uh, but yeah, there's some mystery injury players and I think Bill's one, Jacob's one, DK Metaf is one. I just don't know what the
74:26hell's going on.
74:27>> Small sample alert here for the Washington Commanders. It's only three plays on the starting offense, but uh there were two plays of 11 personnel,
74:33one play of 12 personnel. Terry McLaren and Trayon Burks played all three of those. Stefon Diggs only played the slot in 11. So, two of the three snaps. This
74:43is notable because, you know, Stefon Diggs, despite being >> arguably the Patriots most talented wide receiver last year, only played 55% of
74:51the snaps. It was mainly as a slot player. He was playing behind Matt Collins in every single game. Um, I was
74:58hoping that Stephon Digs would then transform to a 70 plus% snap player in this. Uh, again, tiny little sample here, but it gives me maybe a slight
75:07hesitation that might not happen.
75:09>> Yeah, I think it's most likely that's this is what they're going to do. It was the one snap, but it was it was probably
75:14the most important single snap of anything I learned from this preseason was was that fact. Um, I moved him behind Jaden Reeds and and Jaden Josh DS
75:23like comfortably because like those guys are younger players and like in theory those guys can escape from this role.
75:28Um, so we'll see. It it did matter to me.
75:30>> I like that. Uh, Chig played a lot though.
75:34>> He played a lot of 11 personnel. Eight of 10 snaps in 11. And obviously he was out there in 12 personnel the other four
75:39snaps in 12. So, if we're taking Stefon Diggs and David Blau at his word, then is Cha Quanquo now not the tight end one
75:49for the Washington Commanders and out there almost all the time?
75:51>> He is, but I will also note he was also playing with the backup offense after everyone else left and like that was
75:56also on my radar. I'm not sure. I don't know like I've been studying, you know, commanders tight end threes and tight
76:02end four if they dealing with injuries and stuff, but as everyone else left, Chig was still out there. Uh Stefon Diggs I have like backtoback right now
76:09with with Josh DS. So I think I'm just going to move Josh DS directly ahead of him and that works as my wide receiver
76:1441 and wide receiver 42 >> uh behind Matthew Golden at wide receiver 40. Detroit Lions. Maybe I should have brought this up earlier. We
76:21said we're going to bring it up on Thursday's episode. Sam Laaporta has an injury from Dan Campbell quote got hit in the hip and it flared up but we feel
76:29good long term about him. We'll rest him for a little bit here and letting it all calm down. So, I've seen some worry that
76:36this is connected to the back injury that he obviously had surgery on. I've seen other FF physios say, "Hey, this just sounds like since he got hit, it's
76:46just a contusion." Uh, I don't know what to believe. And Hayden, because of that, I'm still going to be covering my eyes
76:53and drafting Sam Laora because the upside for me is quite high here.
76:57>> Yeah, this sounds like more contusion than anything. And I would put this into we don't get fantasy points on August
77:0224th, which I think we >> we need we need to start reminding like maybe this is something we need to bring
77:07up like as we get into training camp is players are going to get injured in training camp and we're not getting any
77:11fantasy points for for the training camp injuries and like at some point these guys come back and they're totally fine.
77:17So I would be buying the dip on Sam Leaporta.
77:19>> Just just wait until it goes dark uh for the week ahead and we get no updates.
77:23>> They get nervous at all. Zero updates.
77:25Speaking of tight ends, uh, we haven't talked enough about Terrence Ferguson.
77:30So, Nate Atkins from The Athletic said and I think I guess interviewed and talked to Terren Ferguson who told him that he spent the offseason slimming
77:39down and being able to play the F, Z, Y, and X. They're playing to expand his role to quicker patterns versus, you
77:47know, half of his targets being 20 plus yards down the field like they were last year. You might disagree. This might be,
77:53you know, a phrase to not use in fantasy football, but I truly do believe that Terren Ferguson is the Rams wide
77:58receiver three. And if we had a 15th round of the show that we did last week, Terrence Ferguson would have been the
78:0515th player that I'm betting my fantasy season on.
78:08>> I'm not going to fight anyone on Terren Ferguson. This is the team that every couple years just make something up and
78:15all of a sudden they're in a role that we had no idea about. Puka Naku is all of a sudden he's our most valuable
78:20player on the team. We've seen that uh Cooper Cup at one point did the same thing. Kairen Williams has done that.
78:25Blake Cororm came back from the next offseason and he was a huge focal point.
78:29Um so you know there are signs that Terence Ferguson could could be that and you know Devonte Adams the trade rumors
78:35like those are the type of things where like you can think of a narrative of like okay which is the tight end that
78:40finishes at the tight end eight this year that nobody saw coming like Terrence Ferguson's like very clearly at the top of that list. great last round
78:47pick in reddraft and if he plays eight snaps in week one, you can kick him to the side. If he plays 72% of the snaps
78:53and he's actually new 22 Atwell, then guess what? We're we're ready to go.
78:57>> And it's not hyperbole to say that he was 22 out well for them last year.
79:00Again, half of his targets were 20 plus yards down the field last year. So, it is on my radar that saying quote by
79:06getting the ball to Ferguson more quickly, the Rams can exploit a mismatch with a 65 252lb frame against linebackers rather than safeties. So, if
79:14now we get the gimmies along with the downfield stuff in an offense that passes the ball at a high rate, uh,
79:20pretty cool. I'll take it.
79:22>> Yeah, it really is cool. Um, >> and Max Claire like played deep >> into the preseason. And so, despite him
79:28being what, a second round pick this last year and then Terrence Ferguson being a second round pick previously, uh, it is quite clear that Ferguson is
79:36much higher up in the depth chart. And then it's like, you know, the Parkinson, Davis Allen, whoever else you want to
79:43throw in there, and then it's Mlair.
79:46>> Yeah, I still do draft plenty of Kobe Parkinson in these deep leagues. Um, I would say for Terrence Ferguson, um, I
79:52think you have to draft like Jawan Johnson, I think Dalton Schulz as like maybe the the Texans number two, Jake Ferguson, like those type. And then you
80:00get to, you know, AJ Barner, Chica Quano, uh, Hunter Henry. If you want to put Terrence Ferguson at the top of that
80:06and just like roll the dice, like by all means, like go for it.
80:10>> If you draft tight end premium, exit your league with Terrence Ferguson towards the end because that could be like the true difference maker all
80:16upside.
80:17>> Great take.
80:18>> Uh Falcons, quick note, Zachariah Branch only played in 11 personnel with the second team offense, not even 12 personnel. So, he is, I think, learning
80:28that solely. And let's remember that at Georgia, he was just a manufactured touch player and that's it.
80:33>> Yes. He also effed up a play. Um I will say this, he did run a outside route um against off coverage and hit the breaks
80:44and on that play he looked like Tank Del to me. Like it was just like a reminder that this is a rockar athlete. Like this
80:52is not like you know Malachi Corley like if he was going to hit and I think it's unlikely that he is. He actually does
80:58have the traits to be like a really really fun player. Um, so I'm leaving the light on, but he he did mess some
81:03things up and he's going to be in the slot for most of >> Yeah, it might be more of a 2027 guy. He
81:09moves differently this year and learning a more, you know, composed route tree, especially from the slot. And then they can kind of grow up from there.
81:18>> While we're recording, uh, Michael Pennix is in team drills, I think, for the first time, >> and it sounds like he's getting more
81:24snaps than maybe B riders were expecting. Um, based on how Tua has looked, Michael Pennix week one.
81:32>> Um, I I don't think that's going to happen, but it's possible. I did like uh the doctors told him that he has an
81:37amazing ACL.
81:40>> Wow. Okay. Hopefully same. Hopefully safe. Um, just a couple more quick things here. Rashad Baitman, the NFL is investigating allegations he broke the
81:49window of his ex's car with a three-month old child inside. Not cool.
81:54Uh, and also Jacobe Lane looks like the wide receiver three on this team and maybe that even turns into the wide
82:00receiver too depending on Rashad Baitman. Um, meanwhile Elijah Serat who has taken a couple spots after Jacobe Lane. Uh, Nathan Yoni had a tweet and
82:10I'll pull it up here right now. I'm sure Webs is putting it on the screen. Top four round rookies to play in the fourth
82:15quarter of preseason week two. That includes your guy Jacob Harris, uh, Dez Fitzpatrick, Amari Rogers, Tylen Wallace, Ezric Ezu KMA, uh, Danny Gray,
82:24we can keep going on and on through the list, and Elijah Serat is in this group.
82:28It's not a great group to be a part of.
82:29>> I I can't believe that you remembered. I liked Jacob Harris.
82:33He they they tried to turn him into Terence Ferguson.
82:38>> Yeah. And this is like Eli Sters.
82:40There's a bunch of these guys. The whole Eli Sters, by the way, got I mean, absolutely annihilated on one of his
82:44blocking plays.
82:46He's not even close to seeing the field.
82:48He's not deep deep into that game.
82:51>> Yeah. I mean, he wasn't even a full-time player with the second team offense. Eli Sters. Uh the last note I had was here
82:56with the Patriots. And it was quote, "What's the deal with Kyle Williams?
83:00Makes plays when on the field, but seems to be buried behind AJB, Dobs, Deario, Kahan Booty, and Matt Collins." And that
83:06was obviously written before Kahan Booty was traded. So now they get to keep >> Kyle Williams. Is he just like a you
83:12know Jeremy Bernard when he gets opportunities in games he makes plays because it's amazing he isn't up further on this depth chart this year and last
83:19year.
83:20>> He his releases at the line of scrimmage and then that initial burst is we got to see what that's all about because that's
83:27a pretty intriguing profile to me. Um he's probably going to be their wide receiver five though like they have like a section of the playbook for for Mac.
83:35Pop Douglas is their slot. I would be curious to see AJ Brown in the slot and Kyle Williams on the perimeter. That's
83:41the thing that I would be trying to hit on. You know, like Kyle Williams upside versus Pop Douglas's upside. I feel like
83:46that's uh a pretty big difference. Um he makes some mistakes and I think that there was like he didn't understand the
83:52playbook, those type of things. You know, come from Washington State, kind of a really funky offense. Like we could slow play this. His athletic traits and
83:59releases at the line of scrimmage like stand out to me all the time. So >> last one, Jets. Uh Omar Cooper now is
84:06playing over Isaiah Williams as the wide receiver three. Uh he played in 11 personnel with the starters like Gino Smith and Garrett Wilson and Anna
84:14Mitchell and all those guys played and then he stayed on the field with the second team offense as an outside wide
84:20receiver. So I think his role is very clear here that he is the third wide receiver when they're going three wide
84:26receiver sets in the slot. Um because you have got two outside guys that are very very good at what they do. guy. I
84:34even said Adai Mitchell is very good at what he does. I mean, he did have two ISO coverage breaking route wins that
84:39were pretty sweet in this game.
84:40>> I draft infinite Adai Mitchell. I love it this year.
84:45>> I love it. Um and then maybe if one of those guys goes down, that's how he gets into two wide receiver sets here.
84:50>> Yeah, this might be the latest we've drafted a first round wide receiver in a half decade with Omar Cooper and Fantasy
84:57where he goes >> Burks. I wonder where Trayon Burks went.
85:00>> I don't know. There was, you know, there are some serious Trayon Burks, you know, truthers out there. Um, >> fair.
85:07>> Yeah, I take shots on Omar Cooper where he's going. Um, no issues with it. The He's free. He's free.
85:13>> Yep. All right. I think that does it.
85:15Did I miss anything that you wanted to cover?
85:16>> Um, if we did, I wrote things on Yahoo Sports. You can go, you know, read. It's probably actually better for you guys to
85:22go read things rather than just listen to us.
85:24>> Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. I mean, just watch Hayden on live television on on CNN. Uh, you can do that, too. Our
85:31rankings are attached to this. Um, half PPR, full PPR, all that type of stuff.
85:36Uh, we've got some fun shows this week, I think, including tomorrow. Hey, I need to update my rankings for this. The
85:40players you and I disagree on the most.
85:42So, uh, let us know in the comments down below who you think we're going to disagree on the most. And as always,
