Travis Etienne

PositiveProjection0:36

The source projects Travis Etienne as a fringe RB1 this season, noting he finished as the RB11 last year despite being in a committee backfield where he caught 35 of his 36 receptions on early downs. The source expects his reception total to increase due to the Jaguars' high-paced offense under Kellen Moore.

0:00I think we're kind of overthinking this
0:01one. He has cleared almost 1,400 yards.
0:04That's 1,399
0:06total yards in three of his four healthy
0:09seasons. Now, I'm looking at the Saints
0:10offensive line, and I know it's a lot
0:12better than what he was dealing with in
0:13Jacksonville. On top of that, Kellen
0:15Moore runs the fastest pace offense in
0:17neutral situations. Tyler Shuck, in
0:19theory, could take a huge leap, and all
0:20of a sudden, the Saints team could be a
0:21league average offense. And even last
0:24year, at times, they were kind of
0:25flirting with those numbers. He's not
0:27going to play every single situation.
0:28Guess what? That's almost every running
0:30back in the NFL. I think Alvin Kamara is
0:32just out of gas at this point, and you
0:34don't have to play in passing situations
0:36to get to the ball. 35 of his of his 36
0:38receptions last year were on early downs
0:40for for Travis Etienne. He was already
0:41in the committee backfield this last
0:43year. Loquon Allen played that Alvin
0:45Kamara role, and he was still the RB11
0:48last year while catching RB27 receptions
0:50per game. I think there's a chance he
0:52catches actually more than that just
0:53because the the Saints run more plays in
0:56general. And I know he's going to be the
0:57goal-line back. I think he's a totally
0:59fine player. They paid him a lot of
1:01money. The Saints have been trying to
1:02replace Kamara for years. Look at all
1:03their draft capital. Those picks haven't
1:05worked out. This is the final big
1:07investment at the position. I would be
1:09pretty surprised if he's not like a
1:10fringe RB1 this season.
