0:27morning, July 14th, two weeks from today and counting.
0:30Every single NFL team will be in training camp and next week we'll have an all 32 look at every team's training
0:37camp and the biggest storylines each team faces as they go into training camps that will be open, all of them, by July 14th.
0:44July 28th. But there are issues that are outstanding now, big headlines across the NFL, and to break them down and take
0:51a further look at them, we are joined today by my friend, my colleague, the usual producer of the show who stepped
0:58in to replace Ty Schmidt, who's sick today, Dan Stanzik.
1:01Dan? Shefty, it's great to be with you. Great to be phoning for Ty here.
1:06And the season, we can feel it. We are like mid-July here.
1:10We're past the 4th of July. Training camps around the horizon.
1:13Like football is almost in the air here. Normally, like July, nothing really happens till the end, but we're getting there.
1:20Things are brewing. You know what? This week, Dan, we've got the World Cup.
1:24We've got the Major League Baseball All-Star Game. We've got the ESPYs.
1:28We've got the British Open. We've got a whole bunch of things going on, but you can feel that training camp is coming.

1:42Let's dive right into this week's six-pack. And we have a reported record deal.
1:47We have a new ownership group in Seattle. What can you tell us about the 49ers limited partner, Vinod Kostel, winning the bid to buy the Seahawks?
1:55Well, first of all, it's so fascinating on so many levels.
1:59His wife is going to be the controlling owner of the team.
2:02His son is going to run point on the franchise.
2:06His 31-year-old son, Neil. So he's going to be the boss of Seahawks general manager, John Schneider, and head coach, Mike McDonald.
2:12It's going to be very interesting to watch that.
2:15But if you look at the NFL's recent sales and the percent increase, we've gone from the Browns to the Bills to
2:22the Panthers to the Broncos to the Commanders to the Seahawks.
2:26Browns, Bills, Panthers, Broncos, Commanders, Seahawks. There have been at least 50% increases in each of the last sales of NFL franchises.
2:33So the value of these franchises is going through the roof.
2:36And now we have an NFL record, $9.612 billion being paid for the Seattle Seahawks.
2:41The sale still is pending approval of the NFL owners.
2:44But Dan, why would the NFL owners not approve a record sale to somebody who has been vetted before?
2:50That's going to be a formality. I'll predict it right now.
2:53It's going to be unanimous when the NFL owners get together on what I'm told is August 26th.
2:59Now, I asked the NFL yesterday, is that the official date when the vote to sell the Seahawks to Vinod Kostel and his family will be held?
3:08And they said, we don't have the final date yet, but I'm told August 26th will be the date when the Seahawks
3:14officially wind up being sold to Vinod Kostel and his family.
3:18An incredible transaction when you look at it, when everything that goes into it, and this is obviously a record price for an NFL franchise.
3:26And I think when I hear that also, the value of these franchises going up the way they have, I mean, what an investment for these people.
3:34You thought that the Commanders were paying a lot when they were sold a few years back, right?
3:40It was the Commanders in 2023, $6.05 billion. The Walton Penner family bought the Broncos in 2022 for $4.65 billion.
3:46$2.27 billion. David Tepper, Nicole Tepper, they bought the Panthers in 2018 for what sounded like a lot, $2.27 billion.
3:53The Bills were bought in 2014 for $1.4 billion.
3:55The Haslams bought the Browns in 2012 for $1.05 billion.
3:58And now we've got $9.612 billion being paid for the Seahawks.
4:02Here's my question, and I was on Unsportsmanlike on Tuesday morning going over this.
4:06Maybe you're smarter in math than I am, Dan.
4:09Do you know what the $1.2 and $9.612 billion is?
4:12What is the $1.2? The $1.2, so it's $9.6, so that's $600 million.
4:16The $1.2 is probably $1.2 million. I don't know.
4:19$12 million. Is it $12 million? Maybe. I don't know.
4:22I'm guessing here. I will say this, though, Schefter.
4:25Great time to sell a franchise right off a Super Bowl victory.
4:29I remember the Celtics did this a couple of years ago.
4:32They won the NBA championship, and then they sold the franchise for, I think, $6 billion.
4:38So great timing to have this sale. And here's my question to you, and we're just wondering all that.
4:43And I haven't asked this question to anybody, but you just made me realize.
4:48How much did the Seahawks Super Bowl win raise the price of that franchise?
4:52If the Seahawks had not won the Super Bowl, what would you guess?
4:56And we're just guessing. What would you guess the Seahawks would have sold for?
5:01I have to think that the Super Bowl victory ups that price by at least a billion.
5:06I have to. I don't know why. It just seems like that is a multiplying factor of you win the championship.
5:13You're selling high. Literally, there's no other highest moment to sell the team at that point.
5:18It has to be at least a billion. And if you look at the trajectory of what you said of those franchise
5:25values going up, I think this probably would have been in the $8 billion range.
5:29And now we're on the verge of $10 billion.
5:32It's a fascinating question to ask, but I think we can agree.
5:36Whether it raised the price a half billion or a billion or more, the Super Bowl win over the New England Patriots was undoubtedly the ultimate force multiplier.
5:45There you go. There you go. And the Seahawks keep taking away from the 49ers here, Shafty.
5:50The 49ers, a limited partner, now owns the Seahawks.
5:53The offensive coordinator of the Seahawks was formerly on the 49ers staff, Brian Flurry.
5:57There's a lot of overlap. The Coastal family has to sell off their shares of the 49ers, which will happen.
6:04Brian Flurry, the new Seahawks offensive coordinator who was the 49ers tight ends coach, he came over before this sale happened.
6:10It's crazy. It's very ancestral, that NFC West. It's unbelievable.
6:13It's a great division. It's a great division, Dan.
6:16It sure is. But we will stay with the Seahawks to get us into topic number two here, Shafty.
6:22The Seahawks rookies, they're the first ones that will open training camp, and that is Friday.
6:27Like I said, football is in the air. The season is approaching.
6:31Is there anything you'll be monitoring closely, not necessarily with the Seahawks and their rookies reporting, but just the fact that training camp is here?
6:39Is there anything that's going to be catching your eye that you're going to be watching extra closely?
6:45Well, I think the fact that the Seahawks rookies report to training camp this Friday, and the questions that team faces as
6:52it tries to repeat really overlap some. And what I mean by that is this.
6:56To me, the biggest question this team faces is the Super Bowl MVP, Kenneth Walker III, went to Kansas City in the offseason as a free agent.
7:05They lost their star running back. Zach Charbonnet tore his ACL in January.
7:09And so Charbonnet is recovering from that knee injury.
7:12He's not going to be available, I would guess, the first quarter of the season, the first half of the season.
7:18I don't know the exact time. I'm going to find out.
7:22But he's not going to open the season here.
7:25Kenneth Walker's gone, and the team used its first-round draft pick on a running back, Jadarian Price.
7:30Now, I do remember one coach telling me before the draft that he thought Jadarian Price was the best running back in this draft.
7:37Now, again, his college teammate, Jeremiah Love, is the star and the great versatile player who can catch and run.
7:44But he felt like, as a running back, Jadarian Price was the best running back in the draft.
7:49And Seattle drafted with this particular individual, and there were some things about the position, felt was the best running back in the draft.
7:57And he's got to step in here. Now, they did sign Emmanuel Wilson, the free agent from Green Bay.
8:03They have George Helani, who stepped in the playoffs and played well.
8:07But Jadarian Price, a rookie running back, is going to be counted on heavily.
8:11And the Seahawks are the first team to open the season that opening Wednesday night, two days after Labor Day, against the
8:18New England Patriot team that they beat in the Super Bowl that helped jack up the value of the franchise.
8:24So to me, that's the big question. How does Seattle's backfield shake out?
8:28But again, a reminder, as you pointed out, Dan, Seahawks rookies report to training camp Friday.
8:33And by July 28th, every NFL team will be in camp.
8:37Shefty, I'm glad you noted this running back situation with the Seahawks.
8:41We talked about him in the first topic. The guy that's going to have to figure this all out is their brand new offensive coordinator.
8:49We didn't even mention they lost their offensive coordinator to the Raiders.
8:52So Brian Flory, the new OC, is going to have to come in and figure this thing out.
8:58And I will say this also, as highly touted as he is, as much as the Seahawks think of him, he's never
9:05called plays at the NFL level before. And it's a different deal to call a game.
9:10You may be a great, smart offensive coach, but it's like anything else.
9:14You may have been practiced in television. When you go do your first live shot, it's a different deal.
9:20And when you go call your first NFL game, it's a different deal.
9:24And that opening Wednesday night game will be the first time that Brian Flory has called a game in the NFL.
9:31And by the way, as great a coach as he is, we don't know how he's going to fare in that area.
9:38You just don't know. And take a look in recent years at teams that have hired offensive coordinators who have no play
9:45calling experience and see how it's worked out. It's a mixed bag.
9:48He may be really good and take to it.
9:51He may not be. We don't know. And we can't know and won't know until that Wednesday night opener.
9:57Yeah. I mean, the bar is couldn't be any higher.
10:00Clint Kubiak had worked wonders for that offense. So we'll see what Flory can do.

12:19The best division in football, I think. We keep talking about it.
12:23We got another update, I think. Aaron Donald, is he coming out of retirement?
12:27Is he not? Apparently now he wants to do workouts at the Rams training facility.
12:32What does that mean? What can you tell us about their future Hall of Famer potentially coming back to play with the Rams for another season?
12:40It sure sounds like we're getting closer to a decision one way or another, whatever that is.
12:45Now, when he was spotted working out at the Rams facility in recent days, what I was told this was about is this.
12:53He wanted to go back into a football building, which essentially, he's been back there to visit, I'm sure.
12:59But he has not been back in a football capacity to work out, do drills, see how he feels.
13:05He wanted to go in to see what it felt like, to see how he felt.
13:10Like, if you think about anything that you've done, if you go back and visit it and revisit something, like, you may
13:17start doing that, something you haven't done in a couple of years and be like, man, I'm glad I don't do this anymore.
13:24Or you may be like, I missed this and I want to try this again.
13:29And I think that's what this was about for Aaron Donald.
13:32It was a journey, a visit to figure out how do I feel about this?
13:37Okay, I've openly acknowledged that I'm considering it, but how is it in reality?
13:41Am I up to it mentally? Can I handle and grasp the rigors that come along with being a football player, practicing
13:48on a regular basis, everything that comes with it?
13:51Or do I not? How do I feel physically running around in those drills?
13:55We know the guy's in great shape. We know the guy can bench press me and you together, but it's beyond that.
14:02So he had to see how he felt physically and mentally.
14:06And I'll bet you it wasn't just one day.
14:09I'll bet you he's been there a few times.
14:11I don't know the end result of what he ultimately felt and decided.
14:15He may still be going through that process. But in the end, I come back to this.
14:21Where else is Aaron Donald going to be more appreciated, wanted, celebrated, respected than in the Rams organization?
14:26They're going to want him back. Now the question is, can he psychologically get himself up to go through a training camp
14:33to expose a body that's been in retirement for a couple of years to what it takes to be an NFL player?
14:40Can he do all that? Does he want to do that?
14:44Is he willing to do all that? And those are questions that he, I believe, is going through right now to try to come up with an answer.
14:53It certainly sounds like he's open to coming back.
14:55It certainly sounds like he's strongly considering coming back.
14:58But you have to make that ultimate final decision.
15:01Yes, I am coming back. Sheffy, you mentioned putting his body through training camp.
15:05I can't imagine that if he said to the Rams, hey, I want to come back for week eight, I'm sure they would say yes.
15:13There can't be like a drop dead date here on this, is there?
15:17Well, I think Aaron Donald's the kind of guy that you're in or you're out.
15:22Like this isn't some kind of country club deal where you guys go do all the work and I'll join you in November for the stretch run.
15:31Either you're a part of the team or you're not a part of the team.
15:35Now, if he is a part of the team, they're going to tailor his schedule to make it work for him.
15:42Right. Like you see veteran rest days all the time.
15:45He's going to have a lot of those veteran rest days and they're going to ramp him up and get him ready
15:52for the regular season opener in Australia. Against the 49ers.
15:55So they'll do it the smart way and the right way.
15:59And I don't know how much he would play during the course of a game anyway.
16:04I don't think he's playing 100% snap count. I think he may be out there.
16:08A third of the time, half the time, whatever it may be when it matters, but they'll be really smart in the ways that they deploy him.
16:17If he decides ultimately that he wants to come back.
16:20But I, I don't view Aaron Donald as the kind of guy that, that you guys take care of the first half of the season.
16:28I'll join him prior. Either he's doing it and he'll be there when camp opens or he's not.
16:34It's a good note. It's a good note on just the kind of guy he is.
16:39He's not going to, he's either all in or he's not in.
16:42I like, I like that. Let's, let's get to topic number four here, Shefty.
16:47And this one is, I guess we're still in the NFC West here, but it is, I don't know how much longer
16:54it's going to be in the NFC West. What is going on?
16:58There's more, more videos out there. I can't watch them all.
17:01I don't know what's going on. What is going on with Brandon Ayuk?
17:05What is the end game? What kind of resolution are we going to get?
17:09When are we going to get it? What can you tell us about the whole Brandon Ayuk situation?
17:15I think when you talk to people around the league, there are a couple of observations that come up with this.
17:22Number one, I think they're concerned about the guy because these videos, they come on and he's criticizing his former college teammate, Jaden Daniels.
17:29Everybody thought he was going to Washington. It was set up for him to go to Washington.
17:35And it certainly looks like he's alienated Washington with his comments.
17:38We've got Jaden Daniels firing back on social media, Brandon Ayuk coming out.
17:42Brandon Ayuk did not help his case with the Washington commanders aside from the fact that he's still under contract to the 49ers.
17:49He's on the reserve, did not report list. He would have to be reinstated.
17:54He had to apply for reinstatement. Now he can just apply to the NFL for reinstatement.
17:59And the 49ers would have to release him. They don't want him around.
18:03And if he showed up at the 49ers complex, which he said he won't do, they'd have to release him.
18:09But the 49ers hold his rights right now. And he is not allowed to go sign with another team if another team
18:16is even willing to sign him until he's released from that list.
18:20And only Brandon Ayuk can force that issue. And so far, to date, as we record this on Tuesday morning, July 4th, he has not done that.
18:28Now, again, we're getting closer to camp. If he wants to play, then he'll force that issue.
18:34So that's the other thing that I've heard a couple of times in talking to a couple of front offices.
18:40They're like, does this guy even want to play?
18:43And I can't answer that. Only Brandon Ayuk can.
18:46But I can tell you that teams have raised that question because why hasn't he forced himself off that list?
18:52Why isn't he looking more actively for a team?
18:55Why isn't he gainfully employed right now? Where was he all last year not showing up?
19:00Does he want to play? That's a question that teams have asked.
19:04And only Brandon Ayuk himself can answer that. So there are some questions that will have to be resolved if he wants
19:11to play here in the coming days and weeks.
19:13But that's certainly a major question. People are concerned about the guy and people are wondering whether he does want to play.
19:20Yeah, it sounds like the ball is in his court.
19:23If he wants to get released, all he has to do is show up.
19:28He gets released. The question then becomes shifty. And you may not have a good answer to this because who knows?
19:35His teams will want to see if he wants to play football, if it's willing to bring him in.
19:40But what would the market be for him? Are there teams that would be interested in his services or is at this point you can't really tell?
19:49I honestly believe that he's scared off teams like Washington.
19:52I mean, I think they're looking at these social media posts, repeated social media posts where he's blasting the Niners, where he's criticizing Jane Dale.
20:00They're saying, is this the kind of guy that we want to bring in right now and have a part of our franchise?
20:07Is this what we want to do? And my guess more often than not would be no.
20:13So now there might be a team at a certain point that's willing to do that, but that market right now, at best, is going to be soft.
20:21Okay, let's get to topic number five. Another wide receiver looking for more work.
20:26Stephon Diggs the other day said there is no wide receiver two better than him in the league.
20:31Where do you think he ends up? What teams do you think are interested in him?
20:36Are we surprised that he hasn't signed yet? What can you tell us about Stephon Diggs?
20:42You know, there's some interesting things about this guy, right?
20:45He's coming off an ACL, torn ACL last year.
20:47And even last year when he was coming off the ACL, which people say they're better in the second year, he was 12th in receptions with 85.
20:56He was 16th in yards with 1,013. He only played 54% of the Patriots offensive snaps and was still 12th in the league in receptions with 85.
21:04Above the stats, he was not limited this offseason.
21:07He was able to work out. So that worked out.
21:10This offseason, he's been training all offseason, didn't need the rehab.
21:14You would think that you would get a better version of Stephon Diggs this offseason.
21:19And so to me, I think there'll be interest.
21:21By the way, we talked about Washington and Brandon Ayuk.
21:25And most people thought Ayuk would go there. And it may turn out to be that Brandon Ayuk's social media posts created
21:32an opening for Stephon Diggs, who played at Maryland, to go back to that area.
21:36It's interesting. Take the spot that Brandon Ayuk might have had and now fill in.
21:41Like, again, the production was there last year coming off an ACL injury.
21:45You'd have to think the production will be there this year.
21:49And I think there are certain fits that would make sense for Stephon Diggs with veteran quarterbacks like in Kansas City.
21:55That would be logical. But I think he'll find work.
21:58And I think somebody will bring him in. And it wouldn't surprise me if he has a new team relatively early in camp.
22:06Interesting you mentioned the commander isn't him being, you know, he went to Maryland.
22:10If you look at their depth chart right now, they have a third-round wide receiver, Antonio Williams, who's slotted in there to
22:17be the wide receiver two in Washington. So Stephon Diggs, who just told the world there is no wide receiver two in
22:24the league that is better than him, it's a perfect place for him to just slide right on in there and make it work.

24:39And this one is close to home for us at ESPN.
24:42I thought it was very interesting, right? Marcus Spears Jr., class of 27 in high school, reclassified and signed with Texas where his older sister Carrie plays volleyball.
24:51Now, and this is basketball, we should say. Marcus Spears, our colleague, played football at LSU, played football for the Dallas Cowboys,
24:58the Baltimore Ravens, best known as a cowboy. This is his son, a basketball player.
25:03And we should also note Marcus's wife, Marcus Jr.'s mother, played in the WNBA.
25:07So basketball is very much in his blood. And Marcus, the father, was a great basketball player in high school.
25:13He was a great basketball player before he became a first-round draft pick of the Dallas Cowboys and had a great NFL career.
25:21It gives you an idea of the type of athletic genes that are in that family.
25:26Like, I wish Marcus Spears were my dad. Like, I would have been a foot taller.
25:31It would have been great. You know, I would have been 6'7 instead of 5'7.
25:35But unfortunately, that's not what happened here, Dan. So Marcus Spears Jr.
25:39was the benefactor of his parents' genes. And now he's reclassified to Texas.
25:43First of all, can you imagine being a junior in high school and being paid the millions of dollars that I'm sure Marcus Spears Jr.
25:51is being paid? This is a different world now.
25:54A different world. And Marcus Spears, for those who are wondering, like, maybe they're saying, why are they talking about a junior in high school?
26:02Are they doing this because they work with him?
26:05No, Marcus Spears, I had an NBA coach text me this summer.
26:08They watched him on tape. The father. Swagoo. Swagoo's son.
26:12Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I thought you were talking about Swagoo for a second there.
26:17Okay, Swagoo's son, Marcus Spears Jr. This is an NBA coach.
26:20Yeah. One of my friends. Because Marcus Spears, they watched him.
26:24They expect him to be the number one pick in the NBA draft.
26:28The number one pick overall. And we should say, Sheffy, I believe the way this works is he has to play two years at Texas.
26:35Correct. With the reclassified. We should note that. So he wouldn't be in the NBA draft the following year.
26:41Next year, it'd be the following year. So it would be the NBA draft, I believe, of 28.
26:47Yes. Right? 28? Correct. Right. So this coach felt like Marcus Spears Jr.
26:51Would be the number one pick in the 28 draft.
26:54And by the way, if you're Marcus Spears Jr.
26:57And you're working at our company, which you are, like, that's great.
27:01He loves it. And he's great at what he does.
27:04And I hope he stays at our company forever.
27:07But you know how much money's out there for his son right now?
27:11Like, if he's kind of keeping him on the right path, training and making sure that he's turning out to be the
27:18best person and player he can be. Like, oh, my God.
27:21Think about the money involved there, Dan. Right? That's where his bread is buttered right now.
27:26Well, I mean, and the older daughter. I should note, I used to produce Swagoo's podcast called Swagoo and before that Swagoo
27:33and Perk with our friend Kendrick Perkins. And we had a live show in Houston years ago where I met Marcus Spears
27:40Jr., who at the time was this young string bean, you know, basketball player.
27:45But, you know, he hadn't really grown into his 6'10 frame or whatever he is now.
27:50He was probably 13, 12, 13 years old. And now he's the number one player in the country.
27:55It's amazing how quickly this ascent has gone. But having worked with Swagoo and hearing him talk about his children, like, he
28:02has his kids in the right mind frame to have success in athletics and in life.
28:07Like, Swagoo is an awesome guy. I love Swagoo.
28:10I'm happy for him. I'm happy for his wife, happy for the whole family.
28:15Like, this is such an awesome story. And the fact that he is going to Texas where his older sister already is.
28:22Like, if there's a U.S. women's volleyball team in the near future in the Olympics, Marcus Spears' daughter, Carrie, who he calls
28:28one, his first child, he calls her one. She's probably going to be on it.
28:33She's a superstar as well. So just great news all around for the Spears family.
28:38Couldn't be happier for them. It's almost like, you know, he's a modern-day Manning, you know, sending off all these offspring of
28:45all these great athletes who are going on to success in their own particular athletic endeavors.
28:50And you're right, he is one of my favorite people at our company.
28:54I love that guy. And we wish that family nothing but success.
28:58And I can't wait to watch what Marcus Spears Jr.
29:01is going to do at Texas. Shefty, I think I saw, you know, another player who played at Texas, Kevin Durant, was tweeting about this.
29:09Like, this is a big deal. Like, people know who Marcus Spears Jr.
29:13is. What did Durant text? What did he say?
29:16He tweeted something like, glad you went, you know, happy that he went to Texas.
29:20I'll put the tweet in this podcast here. But it was cool to see, just like he is a known commodity as
29:27being one of the best basketball players in the country at his level.
29:31Unbelievable. Congratulations to the Spears family. And Dan, we are getting closer to training camp.
29:36We're coming off summer breaks. But before we go, I do have one question for you.
29:41Please. What is the coolest thing that you did this summer on the summer break, whatever that is that we get?
29:48Okay. The company man answer here is taking my three children to Toy Story 5.
29:52They've now seen it twice. But the real answer is probably I took my kids are 5-3-1, a fortuitous event.
29:59We took them all to a Mets game. And it was a lot to handle, but it was cool to see them watching live sports.
30:07They had a blast. Their favorite part was when the Mets hit a home run and the Apple came up in Citi Field.
30:14So that was an absolute highlight from the summer so far.
30:17So if I had to say anything, that's what I would say at this point right now.
30:23Shifty, I believe I have to ask you the same question.
30:26What about you? In the summer, what's the coolest thing that's happened to you or that you've done?
30:32Well, I guess it's still going on because there are a couple of things that are still left ahead here.
30:38Like I got a couple of trips to Ann Arbor coming up, brief overnight trips, one for a golf tournament, a charity
30:45golf tournament, another for the Michigan football game. But I would say that this offseason was one of the better ones that I've had.
30:53I was fortunate to get to play golf like 8, 9, 10 times.
30:57And what I would say, Dan, the last two times, I may have hit the two most memorable golf shots that I've ever hit.
31:04I know it's boring when people talk about their golf shots.
31:08But about two weeks ago, I played at Bowles Bridge in Connecticut.
31:11You ever hear of the course? Haven't. It's an awesome course.
31:15So, on the par 4, 144-yard hole, I hit a 7-iron that went, I mean, it was perfectly struck, which I don't hit perfectly struck shots usually.
31:23And it went to the left of the hole and came back into the right and literally rolled, literally, two, three inches
31:30right past the hole, stopped one foot past it.
31:33And I tapped it for birdie as close as I've ever come to a hole in one.
31:38My next round at a course on Long Island, there was a par 5.
31:43And I was playing with a foursome three great golfers.
31:46Somehow, I turned out to be the only guy in the fairway.
31:50And so, the drive probably went, it hit a hill, rolled down, I'm going to guess 240, 250.
31:55And I hit my 5-wood in to the green, but there's a body of water that surrounded the green.
32:01It went in the water, the front of the water.
32:05So, I was kind of bummed. So, I went up there, I'm like, damn, I wanted to put it on the green
32:11in two, had a chance, dropped it from 60 yards out.
32:15I hit a shot in the hole, in the hole.
32:18Oh, man. So, like, I've never, I've never holed out from 60 yards in my life.
32:23I've never had an eagle in my life. It was an eagle, but it wasn't an eagle.
32:28Yeah. And I went and I started yelling at people looking, what's going on?
32:33So, I almost had a hole in one. And then I did have the birdie from 60 yards.
32:39Like, wow. That was, yeah. That was fun, Dan.
32:41Nice. That's excellent. You change the kill's good when you hit a good golf shot.
32:46The worst scenario ever, and I hope this never happens to you, is if you're playing a par three and you hit
32:53a ball out of play, you re-tee, you hit your third shot, and that goes in the hole.
32:59That happened to a buddy of mine. The worst scenario ever, because it's not a hole in one, it's a par.
33:05I would love to have that happen one day, because I felt like, in a way, I felt like it was an
33:12eagle, even though it was an eagle, and I've never had a single eagle in my life.
33:18Right? That's what it felt like. Right? It'll happen.
33:20It'll happen. I got faith in you, Shefty. I was on social media yesterday.
33:25I saw Noah Kahn had a hole in one at the Boston Golf Club.
33:29I had the chance, the great fortune of playing golf with Noah Kahn early in the summer.
33:35Wow. As part of my fun summer. Look at you.
33:38We have a mutual friend. Shout out, Harris Schwartzberg.
33:41And he invited out Noah Kahn. He invited out the guys from Mount Joy.
33:45Matt. There you go. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, he played with us.
33:48Noah Kahn played with us. He's a big sports fan.
33:52I used to produce Sarah Spain's podcast, and he would come on all the time from Mount Joy.
33:57He's an awesome guy. Yeah, awesome guy. And golf with Noah and Matt, and had a great day.
34:03I wish Noah would have had his hole in one that day.
34:07Not yesterday. I wish I would have had my hole in one last week.
34:11Didn't get it. Still trying. The summer is hefty here.
34:14That's on my bucket list. That's on my bucket list of things that I want to do in my lifetime.
34:20If I could ever have it happen. It's never happened before.
34:24We'll see if we could ever get there. Shifty, I don't mean to be.
34:28I probably shouldn't tell you this. I have two hole in ones in my career.
34:33Are you serious? I have two. Yeah. Two? Yeah, two.
34:36And they happened probably about 20 years ago. So I was in my 20s, and it's at a local par three pitch and putt course.
34:44And they both happened one year exactly apart on July 4th.
34:48The first one was on the third hole. I hit a shot, and I'm playing with my father and one of my brothers.
34:55My dad was like, oh, it's short of the green.
34:58There's a swale in front of the green. I'm like, dad, it's in the hole.
35:03And he thought I was joking. It wasn't. It was in the hole.
35:07And so then a year later, it's kind of drizzly.
35:10And I'm like, I don't really want to play golf today.
35:13But my dad's like, you made a hole in one a year ago.
35:17We have to play. I'm like, okay. So we go.
35:21We play on the ninth hole, the last hole, hit a shot, hits a bounce, rolls right in the hole.
35:27Unbelievable. It's two all in ones. When you hit both the shots, do you feel like there's got a shot?
35:33Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, you know. You know. Right.
35:36Yeah. When I hit that seven iron, the guys were like, that might be in that.
35:41I'm like, what? What? Like, oh, my God. I would have been so excited.
35:45I would have been out of my mind. I would have walked off the course, I think, at that point.
35:52That's it. Now, you got to finish the round.
35:55You got to finish the round, get the signatures, and you're all good.
35:59Oh, my goodness. Then you're buying drinks, Chef Dave.
36:01That's it. That's next. It'll happen. It'd be my pleasure to buy drinks if that ever happened.
36:07A hole in one. God, that would be. Honestly, that's.
36:10I've always wanted to have a hole in one.
36:13I've always wanted to be at a baseball game where there's a no hit or thrown.
36:18The problem with that is I don't go to baseball games anymore.
36:22So that's a tough one to do. But the hole in one may be even tougher.
