2:42Coming up, will Patrick Mahomes be working in two weeks?
2:45Here's what is news to me. In Kansas City today, Mahomes did not guarantee anything.
2:50He didn't want to make some bold proclamation, but the Chiefs quarterback sounded as confident as we have heard yet this summer
2:57that, yes, he is going to be ready to play week one back from that ACL against the Broncos.
3:03I haven't missed any reps. Getting to go out there day after day and kind of have the grind of a camp, you know.
3:11I mean, that can even be harder than the season, you know, just wear and tear on your body and going back
3:18out there and doing it again the next day.
3:21And so it's been awesome for me to be able to go out there and do that.
3:26I'm excited. I didn't know if I was going to have to take days off and stuff like that, but my body's responded the right way.
3:35And so haven't had to miss anything other than the preseason games.
3:38But even for those, I'm going through the warmup process, trying to make myself prepared.
3:43And so I just don't get the one series or whatever it would be.
3:48But other than that, I've done every single rep.
3:51So you're telling me there's a chance. Mahomes, remember, it was an ACL back in December.
3:56Kenneth Walker, meantime, has a foot, although it is not thought to be serious.
4:00Walker didn't practice, though, Tuesday in Kansas City. That is notable.
4:04He made his preseason debut last week and the Chiefs play his former team, the Seahawks, in their preseason finale coming up on Friday night.
4:12All right, let's get to Jamar. And here's the headline.
4:15Let's get out of the way. Jamar Chase is OK.
4:18But look at this. The Bengals got a scare today.
4:21Chase says he hyperextended his knee. This looks bad.
4:24Said if it were a game, he would have been able to finish the game.
4:29But for around an hour today, we didn't know.
4:32And Bengals fans went to social media and held their breath after Chase limped off the practice field.
4:38I didn't know what happened. I didn't know how I did it.
4:42I just felt something and I just like couldn't walk for a second.
4:46And then I sat down and then that was it.
4:49It's just like a hyperextension. Like a hyperextension. It's just freak accidents.
4:53Stuff like this happens all the time. It's football.
4:56Some things are out of my control. And that was one situation that I couldn't control, but I can control now.
5:03OK, it's under control. The Aaron Donald situation evidently is under control.
5:06The Rams are two weeks away from flying away to Melbourne, but there is no news on with or whether or not Donald is coming out of retirement.
5:15Twice he has worked out with the Rams and maybe 500 times Sean McVay has been asked about it, including again today.
5:23Here's the latest. Our thought process has been let's look at a 53 with him and a 53 not including him.
5:29And what does that look like? There's some different guys that, you know, you have some potential roster exemptions that we've talked about.
5:37All those things are things that we think about.
5:40And whenever a decision is made, if that is the direction that he goes where he wants to play, then we have, you know, plans accordingly.
5:48And if not, we have plans for those as well.
5:51And have you guys planned in terms of if he does come back but doesn't go to Australia?
5:57Haven't even gotten into all that. You know, it's really more of like truly just take it a day at a time.
6:04And, you know, I know you think it's probably, you know, I'm just being, you know, kind of coy, but that's really the truth.
6:12And if he decides he wants to be able to do it, then the next conversations are what is your ramp up?
6:19What does it look like to approach whenever that would, you know, be the first time that we think would make the
6:26most sense for him to impact and influence positive change with us?
6:30Sean McVay also made a joke today about a gummy, but that's another story.
6:34Meantime in Santa Clara, last week a quad strain today.
6:37It was a groin for Mike Evans who didn't practice today.
6:41Evans turned 33 last Friday. He played only eight games last year in Tampa.
6:45And then he signed that three-year $42 million deal with the 49ers.
6:49Mike Evans, injury watch again. Okay. In Indianapolis, Alex Pierce also did not practice today.
6:54But this is a good story, not a bad story because Shane Steichen says we may see Pierce back on the practice field later this week.
7:02And that would be huge. Pierce has not practiced since off-season ankle surgery and notably since getting that four-year $114 million deal back in March.
7:10But wait, it's that time of the year we have more practice news.
7:15Christian Gonzalez is back on the field, although it is sunny right now in Foxborough, not snowy.
7:20Remember, Devin Witherspoon got paid in Seattle and many assumed that a deal would be imminent for Gonzalez.
7:26Same draft class. But we're not there yet, Elliott Wolfe.
7:29Nothing new to report on Christian. Wanam here. He's an elite player.
7:33Been on record saying that before. And we're continuing to work with his representation to find a resolution that works for everyone.
7:40Would you view week one as sort of an internal deadline when it comes to his potential extension?
7:46Or would you guys be open to continuing that throughout the season?
7:50We're just kind of taking it a day at a time right now.
7:54We haven't set a deadline. All right, let's go to New York.
7:58You might have missed this on Friday. It was in Pittsburgh.
8:01But the Jets look good. And you might have missed it because you have a social life and it was a Friday night.
8:09But Geno Smith went seven for seven on his only drive.
8:12He marched the Jets right down the field. He was a 10-place, 69 yards and a touchdown.
8:18What do you know? You know, I think obviously it's one drive.
8:21But I think we all did a great job of just going out there and getting points.
8:27We had some third down situations that we converted.
8:30You know, we had an explosive play on that drive with the pass to AD.
8:35And usually, you know, coach talks about when you have an explosive on the drive, it usually leads to points.
8:41The percentages of scoring points go up. So, you know, I thought for the most part, everyone did their jobs.
8:47But like I said, at the end of the game, I think we all can continue to get better.
8:54It's always something positive when you score points. But again, me, how my mind works, I'm looking at the things that we can work on and get better.
9:03And so it's a day-to-day process. But we're really pleased with the way we started the game.
9:08Love me some Geno. He's 35. He can still sling it.
9:12Here's what he's joining. Yikes. The Jets were. What is the word we're looking for?
9:16Offense. They were bad last year. That is the word we're looking for.
9:21But now they have Geno and now Highland Zerline.
9:23Great to be back with you. Now they have Frank Reich calling the plays.
9:28I know the preseason is a liar. Are you buying the Jets offense being good this year after watching what they did Friday night?
9:36You know, it will be a soft purchase for me.
9:39It's a soft purchase. I'll keep my receipt. But look, this is what I think on the you have actual talent at the skill positions.
9:47We know Brees Hall can get some damage done on the ground and out of the backfield.
9:52We know what Garrett Wilson is about. I like the fact that Omar Cooper gives you a catch option underneath who can
9:59do some things, you know, after the catch the rookie from Indiana.
10:03But what really excites me is the combination at tight end, the 12 personnel sets that they can throw out there with
10:10Kenyon Sadiq, the rookie and Mason Taylor, who I was very high on coming out of the 2025 draft.
10:16I think when you look at Geno Smith, he's going to have a variety of targets to throw to.
10:23I didn't even mention A.D. Mitchell, who I think has some good upside as well.
10:27So there's some real talent at the skill position.
10:30It's just a matter of Frank Reich working with this veteran quarterback to find out who is going to be his favorite targets.
10:38Then I don't know if Geno is just going to lock in on Garrett Wilson.
10:43I think that with these two tight ends, we could see the Jets really have some good, strong improvement from all those
10:5029s and 30s and 31s we just saw in the graphic.
10:53So the number was 17 last year for Geno.
10:56You know what that is by chance? 17. Ooh, not touchdowns.
11:00No, he led the league in picks. So I'm with you.
11:03You know, I would I would maybe make a purchase, but keep the receipt real quick.
11:08Ten seconds. Lance, can he cut down on the picks?
11:11I think he'll cut down, but it's still he look, he's an interception guy.
11:161415 could be a good year for him, actually.
11:19I mean, Geno once said they wrote me off, but I ain't written right back.

13:35How are you, man? I'm doing pretty good. I'm having a good day.
13:39It's been hot out here, man. Burning up. But gotta be thankful for this weather, you know, nonetheless.
13:45Yeah, I mean, we could be like in New Orleans in Mentor-E at Saints training camp or Houston with that humidity.
13:51But then honestly, it kind of... Not that people elsewhere care about our weather, Deion, but it is different right now.
13:58No, it's definitely, definitely different. It's like you're calling a heat wave right now.
14:03You feel me? I'm trying to bring in that heat, but you gotta find a way to bring that energy and that's what this team is doing.
14:11Well, you guys have the energy. Do you practice, oh, by the way, at the Bolt, which is a ridiculous new facility.
14:18We saw Harbaugh there with McDaniel. Like, it's year three for Harbaugh, but it's year four for you, man.
14:24Like, what does, after career highs and 100 tackles and like, I mean, you were lights out in the playoff game.
14:31What does year four look like for you, dude?
14:34I think I would say more. You feel me?
14:37More career highs. As I see it is, my career has a lot more left in it.
14:42And so, for me, I have a lot more left to give in myself.
14:47So, for me, I just want to keep stacking.
14:50Keep stacking days. Keep stacking weeks, months, games, seasons.
14:53I just want to be able to say that it was more on the table and I'm continually going for it.
15:00Where's the ceiling, man? I don't see one right now.
15:03And that's the best way for me to think.
15:06You feel me? As far as my coaches go, this team, I see no ceiling for myself.
15:11I see no ceiling for each other, for our team.
15:14And I just want to make sure that, you know, we work into that.
15:19A lot of this stuff can be lip service.
15:22But you have to put the work in right behind it.
15:25And that's where I'm at right now. The mentality is to keep working and striving for something.
15:31And I know with those coaches we just saw there, they're going to make you put the work in.
15:37Harbaugh's a character. Mike McDaniel, he is a character.
15:40Chris O'Leary, maybe not as much. But, you know, he's a different dude.
15:44He's the new DC. What is it like at practice with Harbaugh and McDaniel?
15:48It's exciting. It's exciting. And I want you to understand, Coach O'Leary has just that amount of energy as well to match those guys.
15:56You just don't see them as much in the same light.
16:00But it's crazy when they go back and forth in these practices.
16:03It's just like they're ping-ponging off of each other and making sure that they're getting better themselves each day.
16:10And so for me, going into practice every day is exciting, bro.
16:13You never know what you're going to get. Coach Harbaugh can have the craziest one-liner, but Coach Mike McDaniel will follow right behind him.
16:21And then on the other end, you have Coach O'Leary who's bringing that electric energy every day.
16:27So for us, it's like waking up and going to watch a Hard Knocks episode of the Chargers every day.
16:33I'm surprised we ain't been on there yet. We should have definitely had a season right now with these guys because every day is an episode.
16:41Every day is electric. And so for me, it's entertaining.
16:45It keeps you engaged, right? It keeps you engaged.
16:47We're getting to the great work you're doing in the community coming up in one second.
16:53But I've got to ask about your quarterback because with that drip that the OC has, I know you see Justin Herbert's eyes.
17:00And he's a killer already. What is Justin Herbert like now in this new offense?
17:05One, I want to say he loves it. Not only does he love it, but it's starting to become him in the sense of like the ownership.
17:13Obviously, things are new. I can speak for myself as well when we talk about the need and how the defense is coming along.
17:21But like with Justin, he dives in so deep into what he's doing.
17:25It becomes him. And so for me out there looking at him from the outside looking in, I can see how much
17:32time he spent, how much dedication he's putting into not only studying with Coach Mike, but studying on his own.
17:39So every time I walk past the QB room, his head is down and he's in his notes.
17:45And I mean, that's been the past three or four days.
17:48The guys are talking, whatever's going on around him, his head is down, he's in his notes.
17:54He's trying to make sure that this offense becomes second nature for him.
17:58And so to say that he's locked in is an understatement.
18:01Like I said, the best way to describe this offense is that it's becoming him.
18:06So the ownership that I'm seeing from Justin Herbert, it drives and motivates me to study my defense the way I do Derwin James the same way.
18:15He's our leader. And he spoke to us today and just kind of told us like, you know, he enjoys being on this team.
18:23And so that kind of just, it just drives us more and more to just fight for him.
18:28Both sides of the ball. All the places. I know you're a leader as well in the community and on the field,
18:35but the community means a lot to you. You're from here, man.
18:39Crenshaw. Yes, sir. And you want to give back, whether it's in the neighborhood where you grew up or out in the
18:46Palisades as well, which is where you were last week.
18:50Pali High. You know, they had to play every game on the road last year.
18:54Obviously, as all of the Palisades in Malibu rebuild from those horrible fires, it's a lot for them.
19:00But here you are there as an honorary captain.
19:03And man, how cool was this? And what did this mean for those kids and for you?
19:08I mean, it was beautiful just to be a part of that community for a short time.
19:14But just to feel like I've been there my whole life.
19:17Everyone was so welcoming from the kids to the parents to the coaches, the team.
19:22It was amazing to be just to be a part of it.
19:26I was honored to not only just be a captain, honorary captain, but also to have my team that I grew up in.
19:34My school play against them that same game. And so for me to have both my communities, in a sense, be there
19:41in that moment just to show that it's united.
19:43And sometimes people have to be reminded that it's more than football.
19:47And for me, it's not about what teams were playing on that field.
19:52It was about supporting Palisades High School. And not only that, but the community.
19:56Because we, the Chargers, know what happened to L.A.
19:59during that time. You know, the whole Los Angeles, everyone that's involved.
20:03And so for us to be able to be a part of that and to show that we are helping hand is
20:10big, not only for me, but just to be a part of an organization like this.
20:15It just shows how much love and respect I have for this building and for the people that's involved in all these decisions.
20:22Yeah, I'm glad you mentioned it's not just you, it's the team, whether it's nominating Coach Smith for the Don Chulo Award
20:29or hosting Palisades High last year at SoFi. You guys have done so much.
20:34And, Dan, I'm just imagining what it would mean for your high school, for Palis, for all of L.A., if you guys
20:41finally take that next step this year. How do you take that grassroots support here and turn it into this team, your team, getting over the hump?
20:50I think one thing that I like to talk about all the time is that this team is deep-rooted in fight, right?
20:57Just having that fight, that hunger to go do.
21:00And that's kind of like the community that I come from, the Crenshaw District.
21:04You got to have that fight, that hunger to go do.
21:08And with the will that we have as a unit right now, I feel like the hump is near right now.
21:14We're getting over it. And I just feel like this comes from just the dedication, the time spent in the locker room,
21:21on the field, day in and day out. And with just tying that into the community, they're fiending for another championship.
21:28And that's what we want to be able to give them.
21:32But I know it starts a day's work, building block.
21:35You know, every day is something. And so for me to be a community rep in my sense of, to be the
21:42Crenshaw District, to be, if you look at the rosters in Crenshaw, I mean, in L.A., like being a true native from Los Angeles.
21:50So to give that respect and love to the Chargers, I just can't wait to do that.
21:55So I feel like this is the year to get over that hump and take the drive, the necessary drive as far as we want to go.

23:06He was back at practice today, one week after the tight end had a hip injury in the Lions' inner squad scrimmage.
23:13So he missed a week. That's it. Sam Laporta seems to be okay.
23:17And Alan Robinson is okay as well. We want to say congratulations to the 11-year veteran, the wide receiver, the NFL broadcast
23:24boot camp veteran who retired yesterday on his 33rd birthday.
23:27Robinson, a Penn Stater, led the NFL in his second season with 14 touchdown receptions.
23:32Alan Robinson took last year off, was last in the NFL with the Lions.
23:37All right. We roll on on the NFL report show number two.
23:41Let's do four downs. Lance Zerline back with us on the home cam.
23:45Lance has an article right now. NFL.com. It's the best and worst cases for 17 rookies.
23:50So first down here for the first overall pick, Lance, Fernando Mendoza.
23:54Your projection for him this season? Yeah, I'm looking at about 11 to 12 starts for Fernando Mendoza.
24:00You can see my numbers there. And I base that on the fact that, you know, I do think Clint Kubiak is
24:07going to start off with Kirk Cousins. I think that's a smart move, but I liked what I saw from him against
24:14Houston in the, in the joint practice and in the preseason game.
24:18I think Fernando is going to come along a little quicker maybe than expected.
24:22I do think we'll see a solid season fantasy wise, you know, probably not a factor this year, maybe not even in
24:29dynasty leagues, but by next year will be a factor, I think.
24:33But I think he's going to have a solid season, maybe on par, could be a little more efficient within the Cam Ward season last year.
24:41Your best case scenario is that he starts every game.
24:44We both agree that is highly unlikely. You're also giving us scenarios, best and worst case for Jadarian Price, who is the
24:52number 32 pick in the first round. Give me a projection for the Seahawks rookie.
24:56Yeah, so he's been splitting first team carries with George Helani, but George Helani has 25 career carries for 3.3 yards.
25:03Look, this is going to be Jadarian Price's job in the short term to long term, depending on Zach Charbonnet when he returns.
25:11But I do think that we're going to see the very talented Jadarian Price had a legitimate first round grade on him,
25:18and you're going to see why when he gets in there.
25:21I think he's going to approach 1,000 yards rushing this year with over 200 carries, and I do expect him to come
25:28close to the double digit touchdown mark as well.
25:31Seattle's going to move the ball. He could be the guy to punch that in.
25:36I also highly recommend watching Hard Knocks tonight, Jadarian Price with the Rookie Talent Show in Nashville.
25:41You should see it. Okay, our last two downs, third and fourth down, Lance, are just for you because you are in Houston.
25:49The Texans made a trade yesterday. They made the call, and they got Kayshaun Boutte.
25:54They got him from the Patriots. They need a wide receiver with Jaden Higgins down.
25:58They didn't give up much. What do you think of the deal?
26:02Love the deal. I think Nick Casario did a great job here.
26:06You had backup depth at safety, the sixth round pick Jalen Reed, so you were able to move a third or fourth
26:13safety and a seventh round pick for a wide receiver who's going to step in right away and be your second wide
26:20receiver on a team who has Super Bowl aspirations.
26:23So, in my opinion, a guy with elite hands, great body control, and the ability, I think, to step in and be a pro right away.
26:31This is a very shrewd move and a very strong move by Nick Casario to pick up this level of player this late in camp.
26:40Also, I mentioned Houston. Fourth down, the Texans rolled out as all the NFL, the NFC North did today.
26:46The Texans rolled out their rivalry. They're in a Nike rivalry uniform.
26:49What do we think of this? It's Liberty White, H-Town Blue, and Battle Red.
26:54They're going to wear him week 11 against the Colts on Thursday night football.
26:58What do you think? You know, it's been positive, mostly positive from here in Houston.
27:03I've seen some spotty reaction to some of the city jerseys up to this point, but here in Houston, they like it.
27:10They like the rollout with the video that the Texans did with their social media team.
27:15So, mostly positive here in Houston. I like it.
27:18It's something completely different than we've seen over the 25 years the Texans have been in business here in the NFL.
27:25So, looking forward to seeing how they look in all white.
27:29Okay, did you on Sunday night watch the Titans as they played the Seahawks on Sunday night football, well, Fox Sunday night football?
27:36Because we know that there's some tension between the two franchises.
27:40We know this, obviously, for clear reasons. They also are wearing these new white uniforms that looked ridiculous.
27:45Ridiculous. Like, good, I mean. Not bad. Right, right.
27:48There's a little tension here in Houston because, basically, Tennessee is wearing the Houston Oilers uniforms.
27:53That's probably what you're referring to. And I can tell you this.
27:57People in Houston don't love it, but the people who really don't like it are the ownership here in Houston.
28:04Cal and Hannah McNair. I think they would love to have those colors back here.
28:08The Tennessee owner, of course, Amy Adams Strunk, the daughter of Adams from, you know, Bud Adams who owned the Houston Oilers.
28:16It's a fun little rivalry. And the jerseys are the latest salvo in terms of the shots back and forth.
28:22Yeah, I love them. Now, the Bears ones, which I don't think we're going to put on the screen, look a little bit like Syracuse.
28:30But hey, I love it. They look like the Orange Men.
28:34Caleb Williams is leaving to go play for Syracuse.
