Bucky Irving is emerging as a clear RB1 after a strong Week 1 performance featuring a 26% target share, 2.29 yards per route run, and a 33% targets per route run rate. Despite a 61% snap share and 40% of team attempts, he showed high efficiency with a 63% EPA success rate and 13 rushing yards over expected. Coaching confidence is high, evidenced by his immediate return to the field following a fumble, and concerns regarding competition from Sean Tucker have dissipated following reports of Tucker's potential roster instability.

0:00was really impressed with Bucky Irving's
0:02role in week one.
0:04He had a 26% target share, 2.29 yards
0:07per route run, a 33% targets per route
0:09run. He only had a 61% snap share, and
0:11he actually had only had 40% of the
0:13attempts. Kenny Gainwell was at 25%.
0:17That's team attempts, not not running
0:18back attempts, but
0:21you know, so he wasn't like dominating
0:23work, but he was getting plenty
0:25of receiving work, and they didn't have
0:26that many carries to go around. And
0:29looking at
0:31the Browns defense, you know, they were
0:32a big run funnel last year, but they
0:34were pretty good against the run. They
0:35were actually quite good against the
0:36run. They were just, you know, so
0:37dominant in the pass rush people were
0:38avoiding dropping back against them, but
0:41this Browns defense does not look nearly
0:43as scary against the run, and I think
0:45it's will still probably end up as a run
0:47funnel
0:48because the offense is going to be so
0:49bad. And Buccaneers are at home here.
0:52Browns are coming away from week one
0:55with the second worst rushing success
0:57rate against them. And Bucky also ran
0:59really well last week at a 63% EPA
1:02success rate. 13 rush yards over
1:05expected so
1:06I I think this is my read on this ahead
1:09of week one, you know, entering the
1:10season was that Bucky Irving was going
1:12to be
1:13the clear running back one.
1:15Um
1:16I was unsure about that when Sean Tucker
1:18looked like he might be in the mix, but
1:20when they were talking about maybe
1:21cutting him, making him take a pay cut
1:22and everything, I started to get a lot
1:24more bullish on Bucky and and really
1:25prioritize him in the fifth round, and
1:27he looks like he's just going to hit the
1:29ground running here.
1:31In in this match up, he could get a lot
1:32more work than he did last year as a
1:34runner, and he's still getting targeted
1:36on early downs. So, I think even in a
1:39positive game script, he can rack up
1:41carries and targets.
1:43>> Yeah, 100%. Uh yeah, and he's going to
1:46get They're going to run the ball more
1:47than 13 times. Your your running backs
1:49ran it 13 times in week one. So, he's
1:51going to get a lot more volume. Like I
1:53said, the early down stuff was really
1:54good. I also was very happy to see him
1:57lose a fumble and then go right back to
1:58him right?
1:59>> Yep.
1:59>> Like lost a fumble then went right back
2:01to him
2:02because you you never want to see like
2:04that like pull a guy off the field,
2:05especially when it's something fluky.
2:07That happened to Jacquory Cross-Kumer.
2:08And you know, we'll talk about that when
2:10we when we get there, but yeah, it's
2:11always a bummer, man.
2:12>> They had they treated that differently
2:13in Washington.
2:14>> Yeah, it's a bummer because like there's
2:16like you love when they just go right
2:17back to a guy. And he lost that fumble
2:19right back to him. Seven catches. And I
2:23I've always thought that this offense
2:24was going to run a lot more. The Zach
2:26Robinson offense would be a lot more
2:27like the Liam Cohen offense and that he
2:30threw to his running backs a lot 2 years
2:32ago. I think we'll see that again
2:35with Bucky Irving catching a lot of
2:36passes. I also think too, like coming
2:38away from that game
2:40watching the Buccaneers wide receivers,
2:42I came away and it's just one game and
2:44it's you know, the Bengals. I think
2:45they're going to be a lot better spot
2:46here, but like
2:47they don't have a lot of juice, man.
2:49Like they don't have a lot of of like
2:51outside juice. And I think they're going
2:53to need a guy like Bucky Irving to be
2:55involved in the passing game. So, I
2:55think it's going to be largely a short
2:57into intermediate passing game any
2:59anyways. Like
