Omarion Hampton

NegativeUsage0:00

The source expresses skepticism regarding Omarion Hampton's ceiling, noting he ranked 15th in carry share last week and lacked burst, though acknowledging he was hit at or behind the line of scrimmage on eight of his 12 carries. Despite checking many boxes for a fantasy asset, the source questions his elite prospect status and suggests his role is threatened by competition from Ke'Shawn Mitchell, who is expected to siphon off limited targets and act as a nuisance to Hampton's workload. Hampton is currently viewed as an RB2 whose fantasy value is tied primarily to touchdown upside.

0:00You look at his profile and he's not
0:03dominating carries. He's running back 15
0:05in carry share last week.
0:07He was pretty solid, but didn't have a
0:09ton of ton of burst in that game and you
0:12know, maybe that's related to the
0:13offensive line, whatever and it's also
0:15just one game.
0:16>> Yeah, he was hit at he was hit at or
0:18behind the line of scrimmage on eight of
0:19his 12 carries.
0:21>> But the thing with Hampton that's that
0:23is tough and I not this was a guy I
0:25wasn't taking a ton of and it weighed
0:27like felt wrong cuz I'm like he checked
0:29so many boxes of what I look for.
0:32Except the player. Like when you get
0:34down to like if you just look at like
0:36how old is he and like what you know, is
0:38he in a good enough offense? Does he
0:39have the potential be in a really good
0:40offensive line? Does he have the
0:42potential get thrown to a lot? Does he
0:43have the potential to score a lot of
0:44touchdowns? Like yes, yes, yes, yes,
0:46yes.
0:47But like who is he? And yeah, he was a
0:50first-round pick, but I don't think he
0:51was nearly the level of prospect that
0:53Jenteel was and he didn't have that
0:55great of a rookie season from the
0:57perspective of a guy who's then going to
0:59go become a superstar running back. And
1:02then they bring in Ke'Shawn Mitchell who
1:04they're clearly interested in, you know,
1:05having a role, you know, even if I'm a
1:07little skeptical to be some incredible
1:09role, but it
1:11I wasn't skeptical that it could be a
1:12pain in Hampton's ass. So,
1:16this is where you're like if he's not
1:17going to get thrown to and then if
1:19Mitchell's not getting thrown to,
1:22does the offense not throw to the
1:24running back very much? And then if it
1:25does, is that to Hampton or is it to
1:26Mitchell? Like if there's not that many
1:28running back targets to go around,
1:30>> Yeah.
1:30>> then then Mitchell becomes even more of
1:33a problem assuming he has a receiving
1:35role there. So, I think Hampton, you
1:38know, he's he's in an offense that will
1:40score more points going forward and his
1:42his touchdown upside is
1:44definitely intriguing, but he
1:46that's kind of RB2 stuff, right? Where
1:48you're like, hey, what the weeks when he
1:49scores touchdowns are going to be really
1:50fun.
