0:01Welcome to the Legendary Upside podcast and YouTube channel. My name is Pat Crarane. You can follow all my content at legendaryupsside.com.
0:10Today it is top guy Tuesday. We're going to do a underdog best baseball draft while I click the top recommendation on
0:19the sidekick every single time. And we'll see how that goes. And I'll be answering questions from the chat and from the leg up Discord. So get your
0:28questions in. Uh, and yeah, we'll we'll get started. I'm gonna see if the big eliminator is at all close to filling
0:34because that'd be kind of fun. And I need to get these done. It's not.
0:38There's 10 people there. Uh, I'll just jump into BBM and do that.
0:51All right, BBM filled. So, that is uh it's good timing there. And we're out of the 107. All right.
0:59throw your questions in the chat and uh I'll I'll get started on those. Does legup have suspension risk in for Puka?
1:06Uh assuming even if he's suspended, he's uh still optimal fourth pick. Also, he left practice today with undisclosed injury. We were talking about adding
1:15some minor suspension risk to Puka.
1:18don't think it would change a ton as far as like whether or not you draft Puka, but we do like to make sure we have all
1:24that stuff in correctly because the way the Sims work, it could change like who's optimal to pair with Puka, right?
1:34If he's was to be suspended, hypothetically, if you were to be suspended for like the first three games of the season, then players who help you
1:42fill those weeks would be a little bit better with Puka. So, that's not what I think will happen. I'm there is some
1:50chance he's suspended, but it seems like a fairly low risk. We're going to we're going to update to reflect that.
1:56I'm from the future and I'm telling you, Debo has 275 yards and four touchdowns rushing this year. Where do you take
2:04him? Where do you take McAffrey would be one question. That doesn't sound great for for Christian McCaffrey as a first round pick. Um,
2:14yeah. Yeah, I mean I think you'd take Debo around the hundreds, maybe in the 90s if I if I if I knew that. I'm assuming he had
2:22decent receiving as well.
2:26How much of an edge is having an elite tight end this year? And where's the line? Craft Fannon Pitts. I think um the
2:37the line for me is earlier than that.
2:40Uh, I think the line is more like Warren. Uh, Fannon could be an elite tight end, but I don't, it's tough
2:49because it's the Browns, right? And then they they they're getting rave reviews on Boston and Conpsion has had a good camp, too. So, I think you're looking at
2:58increased target competition. to me like one of the simplest ways to think through like is the guy an elite tight end is see the clear number one target
3:07on his team and things are kind of breaking that Warren might be right with Alec Pierce's injury Josh DS not like a
3:14natural outside receiver even if he does play on the outside more this year which he probably will but you know they could
3:21be running it through Warren they could run uh the Bears offense through Loveland we expect that the Raiders will run through Bowers and then McBride has been
3:31the number one in Arizona for a couple years now, even with Harrison there. So, and Wilson. So, yeah, I think the line
3:39is is really worn. Uh, unfortunately, I like Fannon a lot. I think he's more like an upside weekly swing as opposed
3:48to like a locked in elite. Uh, and I I do think that uh Bowowers in particular could offer you a huge advantage in an offense that
3:58takes a step forward and an entire passing game really running through him.
4:03Uh, so yeah, Bowowers is a guy I love taking and I think could could provide a pretty big edge. And in these
4:10tournaments, you know, where you have to win these individual pods, having the tight end spike can be a pretty pretty
4:18big deal. So yeah, [laughter] I like Bowers, I guess, is the the the short answer there. Uh AJ Brown is going
4:28to be the second round pick here. Um with Aman Ros.
4:36So a wide receiver, wide receiver start.
4:38As I've done Top Guy Tuesday over the weeks, we've seen a lot of hyperfragile builds, a lot of early running backs,
4:44then stopping at four. uh we may in fact hit like four straight running backs and stop at four here, but at least a good probability that
4:54we're going to be doing a different type of build here, which is fun. Um, what percent likely do you think Burden
5:01and Lemon play week one? I think they both will play week one. I think there's a more of a chance that Burden
5:08misses week one than Lemon does. Lemon seems to be on track. back. I mean, he was he was back on the field, you know,
5:16catching passes and stuff from the Jugs machine. So, you know, I think they're they're being cautious. I think Lemon could ramp up more slowly than he might
5:24have if he hadn't had this hamstring injury. It's still unfortunate for a rookie to miss time in August, but I don't think he's going to miss week one
5:32ultimately. I I think I mean, it's not a zero, but it's it's not high. And then I think Burden might be like one in five
5:39to miss week one, something like that.
5:42Um, full fade on Henry. Not a full fade. We don't take a ton of Henry, but the way the Sims work is you're going to see
5:51some randomness in the sense of some some you're getting a different set of Sims than everyone else. Uh, and we run
6:00new Sims every day. So, your subset of Sims has like uh variance in an intentional way. So, it's not like just
6:11randomized. Rather, you're getting a set of the Sims that we have so that, you know, you could end up with a set of
6:20Sims that really like Derrick Henry. Um, and these Sims probably liked AJ Brown a little bit more than, you know, some other Sims
6:30may have because sometimes I see Bowers ahead of Brown and we had Brown ahead of Bower. So there's there's like um
6:38depending on which universes you're kind of living in, different players will pop and that's very much an intentional part of how the tool is built.
6:49Uh why does JJM have such a cult following on Twitter? Maybe just my algos. I think so. Social media, you know, has been sort of designed to keep
7:00people on the platform using divisive issues, right? What is more divisive than saying JJ McCarthy is good at football. You know, that's gonna get
7:10engagement. So, I don't know. Maybe it is the al the algos are just like in the sports world, they're just feeding you
7:16JJ McCarthy is actually a starting quarterback content because they know you're just going to get riled up.
7:23You're going to engage. You're going to stay on the platform, right? I think that's the best I can come up with
7:29because the dude straight up can't play.
7:31Like, he's he is real real bad. I mean, you know, like kind of the good news is that maybe he outplayed
7:38Kyler Murray over the course of training camp if you're a JJ guy. The bad news is that that doesn't matter because Justin
7:45Jefferson demanded that he never have JJ McCarthy as his quarterback again. And so, uh, he was basically not live to win that
7:54competition at any point, it sounds like. So, you know, that doesn't seem great if, uh, the best receiver in the league is completely out on you being
8:03your quarterback.
8:05Uh yeah, not not a JJ McCarthy guys. You can tell.
8:10Uh how much if at all have you come up on Pat Bryant and Denzel Boston in response to Camp Hype? We've come up on
8:16both. Uh more recently Bryant Boston we've been Boston I feel really good about how we've played. I mean we we started low on Boston. I thought that in
8:27DBM he was kind of getting you know in the pre-draft period he was talked about like he was going to be a first round
8:31pick. He wasn't. He didn't really fall that much. So, we kind of waited that out. He did end up falling to where, you
8:40know, I think it just made sense to take him and then we started taking him there and it's been kind of easy to be, you
8:47know, oh, he's doing pretty well in camp. We we raised him up a little bit on that news. His was more of a steady
8:53drum beat as opposed to something explosive like the Jacobe Lane stuff or like one day we don't know who to take
8:59in Baltimore and the next day it's like you got to take Jacobe Lane. the Boston stuff kind of felt a little bit more
9:04steady and so we were able to I think be ahead of that for for a little bit uh you know where it was a little quiet. So
9:14I feel really good about how we played Boston. We don't have like a gigantic bag of them because we kind of waited
9:20for uh more information about how he was doing in camp. obviously, you know, he's on the Browns, but I'm at 10% on on
9:29Boston, and I feel, you know, that I like that level for a guy that I was like pretty pretty much fading to begin
9:38the tournament and then got back in on at a cheaper price. And now we'll move back up, but I we're going to move up
9:43with that a little bit because I I do like the reports we're hearing out of camp. [snorts] Uh, all right.
9:53I remember uh last week you said on one of the streams you want to get more burden. Have you found yourself buying
9:57more burden since he dips in some drafts now? I mean I'll take him here if he's he's the top guy. That would be pretty
10:04sweet in the middle of the fifth. The funny thing is I've taken him some in eliminator where he's really falling and
10:11you know I think that makes a little bit of sense but but it's probably a little bit of an overreaction as well that he
10:16you know he's probably not going to miss it. He might miss a game, might miss a couple games, but you know, there's
10:21always reinjury risk with this stuff.
10:23Like, there is some risk, but he's fallen a lot in Eliminator. And uh I'm definitely down to take him at a at a
10:30big discount there.
10:33Uh any are you buying the Bills running backs catching more passes talk a little bit? I mean, I think James Cook it like makes sense to
10:44be a more of a pass catcher. Um, you know, but I also, it's sort of like with Josh Allen, you do have the
10:53mobility, the ability for him to push the ball down field, right? Like you don't he's not he's not a true pocket passer. So, I
11:03don't know that you need to make throwing to James Cook like a a huge part of what you're doing. I certainly
11:10could see more of it, but to some extent like James Cook's really lived on like long touchdowns and recently he's been
11:16used a ton at the goal line in in a way that's been surprising. So, he's kind of fading some regression. Um,
11:26and he because he hasn't regressed in a couple years, I think people are kind of buying in, but uh he has been running
11:31pretty hot in a couple ways and those receptions could help prevent like him being a really bad pick. I don't I I
11:41struggled with him as like, oh, he's actually going to be this insane smash from the one two turn. I'm taking some
11:47of them. I'm a little bit underweight, but not dramatically. So, uh, so yeah, I'm buying it, but not in like a
11:56in a way that's making me very excited.
11:59Um, is the sidekick configured for the big eliminator? Yes, it is. Uh I would have jump I'll check after this draft see if
12:09see if there's uh you know a chance to to jump in one but it is configured for the big eliminary and the way this works
12:16is we sim out the NFL season many many times then we sim the contest structure so we treat the big eliminator
12:24differently from the eliminator you know it's it's specific to whatever contest you're in if we support it that's that's how we do it.
12:34Uh, it's it's the rage bait works. It's why Sam's tweets bang. Sam has has really been dialing in a specific type
12:41of rage bait that's like a little bit ironic, but like not ironic enough to where you don't get mad.
12:50It's I think he he I I've been watching his Twitter game for a couple years. I think I'm you're seeing someone in in
12:58his element right now, I must say. Yeah, the nine stuff was no good. Uh when Waddle is the same Waddle and Josh
13:06Downs is the same Josh DS in terms of fantasy out but people will be surprised. I I'm not sure what you mean. I guess
13:16you're saying you don't you don't buy the hype that these guys take another step forward. I am gen I'm more into the
13:22waddle idea that he takes a big step forward. Good evening. Good evening.
13:26What's up? What's up? Uh Diggs was one of my biggest stands this year and saw you were low on him as just a function
13:30of the Sims not being able to project free agents or more just a reflection of the leg up ranks. We we could have been
13:36more aggressive on uh on him likely going to the commanders. I think I think we could have you know in retrospect now
13:47knowing that that's what happened. It's easy to think like, oh, kind of wish we were a little bit more aggressive in the
13:53inputs reflecting that he would be a commander or at least was very likely to be a commander. Um, cuz we did take digs
14:01early and then he rose. There's a lot of hype that he'd be a chief, which I think was kind of [ __ ] but there's, you
14:08know, some good landing spots people got excited about. Post Iayuk, I think we could have pushed more to Dig's, you know, likelihood of being a commander.
14:18Um, and I think that would have helped us get more. But I think part of it is that we really liked Debo who's going
14:24like 30 picks later.
14:27And we really liked Stribbling who was really cheap before the Pier injury. And so there's like a few we were kind of
14:34doing other stuff at receiver in the range where uh or we were rather we were doing other stuff than receiver in the
14:41range where Diggs was going. Um, we liked Hunter. We like we still do. We like Omar Cooper. still do. So, those
14:49guys were at a discount to Diggs even before Diggs signed. And so, kind of the way the puzzle fit together with us not
14:56like aggressively putting Diggs where we have him now or, you know, close, then he didn't jump out as a as a great pick.
15:05Um, I have some. I just, you know, a lot of friends of mine have like giant bags and I'm uh a little jealous of that. We
15:13do have, you know, a decent amount of them from pre-draft, but those prices weren't weren't quite as good.
15:19Sell me on why I shouldn't be afraid of taking Jacobs because of injury stuff/ potential suspension. Need some confirmation bias because I turbo click
15:28in the fourth round. I mean, we have like J. So this is like one of the things with the way our process works
15:37like me and and the rankings teams are reviewing and adjusting all these inputs very regularly. I am not a type of
15:45analyst who's typically been in on Josh Jacobs and I am also worried that he gets suspended. I mean he clearly is
15:52live to be suspended. So we have all that in there. We you know he's a somewhat fragile play. Marshon Lloyd's getting hype if you've seen our Marshon
16:00Lloyd rank. Like we're in. We think that he's a good pick. Like a really good pick actually. Um we've been in on Lloyd
16:07for a while. There was a clip um my guy Mike just reposted uh with um with Sam Sherman where Sam was making the case for Marshall Lloyd,
16:19but it's like a month ago. I'm like when we're talking about Yeet Cannon, remember we learned his nickname is Yeet Cannon. Like yeah, we're 10 picks ahead
16:26of ADP. At that time he was in the 180s.
16:28We were in the 170s on him. Um, so yeah, we've been in on Lloyd. Uh, we've been in on uh the idea that, you know, Jacobs
16:38could could, you know, fall off some and obviously that he could get suspended.
16:43He still shows up as a good pick in the fourth round. Uh, you know, I think some of it's that kind of best ball versus
16:49reddraft thing and you are likely looking at a build here where we're done at running back and we start a receiver
16:57receiver and we're going to score a lot of points at running back. for this team through eight rounds uh is Aman St.
17:02Brown, AJ Brown, and then Bree Hall, Josh Jacobs, Bachel Tutin, Jadarian Price, and Jonathan Brooks. And then we've got Chris Godwin as the receiver
17:12three. And it looks like it'll be Brock Pury as the QB1 here, just a couple picks past ADP. So, yeah, we're uh you
17:23know, we're I think we're gaining something in this build by having fourth round Josh Jacobs and allowing us to have a really strong running back room
17:32even with a wide receiver wide receiver start and James Cook coming out poor in the
17:42leg up write up would be my guess. Uh yeah, Brown is going to be an interesting one. I'm starting to do the
17:49legendary upside article. He is definitely going to be an interesting guy because he he did catch a ton of passes last year, which is which is
17:55really good thing, but he's not an efficient receiver.
17:58It's hard to see like how he would get a lot more efficient out of nowhere. So, uh he's one I'm I'm going to be really
18:05digging into for reddraft. Uh we're we're probably going to take like a little bit more of him in baseball. Just digging into the profile a little bit
18:14more. We raised him slightly, so I think you'll see him like slightly more in the second round. Uh, where are you between
18:20Bill and White? Does the tonsil injury change anything for you? So, it doesn't change a ton for me uh with what we were
18:27doing with with the commanders. Um, we did have a question in the legup discord that I'll kind of try to tie this into
18:38as well. Um, let's see.
18:43Uh, well, it I'm lost it and I'm on the clock. Okay, let's grab Concaid as the tight end one. Uh, okay. How worried about you about
18:59Washington with Tonsel likely out for the season? Yeah, the general Washington uh thing is the tonsil injury is not good, right? that that's definitely
19:11something that I think will have an impact on the team. I'm a little bit more worried about the passing game than
19:18the run game. I think we're already a little bit behind on McLaren. And uh and now we get some digs. I don't think
19:28we're going to be like leading the charge on digs. We're a little bit behind on a conquo now. So, we didn't
19:33change like too too much. Uh, I think we already had probably just a little bit more floor built into that, you know,
19:42what could happen in Washington than maybe, you know, some of the more things were feeling kind of optimistic in Washington. I think people are getting
19:48excited. So, we haven't been super high in Washington and I think that's because we've we kind of have a range of
19:55outcomes approach and uh yeah, I I don't think we needed to to change a ton on the tonsil injury. It's not like a
20:04cluster injury, but we did. Um, it does hurt. It does hurt a bit.
20:10Uh, can can I troll Sam for making fun of my Fannon bullcase last year? You were right. You deserve a victory lap on him.
20:18I I don't think it's a specific Sam Fannon victory lap. I feel like I've taken my victory laps on Fannon. Uh
20:26there was plenty of Fannon duckfoot derision out there which I've I feel like I have uh sufficiently mocked, you know, in the in the time since. So, you
20:37know, Fannon, I was the first one to mention him. Davis seconds later, Davis didn't even know who he was until I told
20:43him. Uh no, Davis was in on Fannon as well. I forget uh to be honest. I mean, you never know with Sam, you know, Sam's
20:52Sam's tweeting about guys. He he he might draft him. You know, he's he's out on Burden. He wins $2 million with him.
20:58You know, you never know. You never know how where Sam stands. If it's just the Twitter, we I don't I don't remember if
21:04we had him on a show talking about Fannon or not. Um does the Brazil injury really do anything? Obvious. Uh
21:15yeah, it hurts my portfolio because I was taking a lot of Chris Brazzle. Uh but yeah, uh I don't think it leg will pop up
21:23occasionally at the end of drafts now.
21:26Um can you explain the Hunter case? Uh 170 180 I could see it, but the 130 seems bad unless you get bailed out
21:34through injury.
21:36Yeah, so he is playing a lot of receiver. Uh he is the clear receiver for right now. Um, and
21:47I don't really understand why people are acting like he's like a contingent only path to playing time. Like he's going to
21:56play and they're not going to like forget he's out there cuz he's their starting quarterback for them too and he was drafted uh second overall and they
22:05traded up to get him and he's kind of a huge part of their whole identity. So, I think they're going to be intentional
22:13about getting him uh involved when he's on the field. Uh, and I think, you know, there's been some like interesting stuff
22:21about how he might play outside this year so they can have him on the field more with Parker Washington. Uh, there's
22:27stuff about how he's going to be like in packages so that he doesn't have to like know everything. You could say that's
22:33bad because it means he's not going to be like a true full-time player. I don't think it's bad because we already know
22:38he's not going to be a true full-time player, but if he's, you know, playing like he's got 50% round participation and a really high targets per out run, I
22:49think I'm going feel pretty good about him in baseball. In reddraft, you might find it pretty frustrating because we get into this range. You can see he's in
22:56the sidekick here. We're in the 140s.
22:58You did do a little bit of a straw man put him in the 13s. His ADP is in the 140s, but uh and we might get him here.
23:05You know, if we needed a receiver more than a quarterback, you know, he might be here for us at 151.
23:12151, you can pay off ADP in baseball by only scoring like one time in week 17.
23:20Like if you get a spike week in week 17, that that picks a smash like 25 points one time week 17, boom.
23:30You know, like for best. Now, obviously, you can't I don't know if it's going to happen in week 17 if he smashes, right?
23:36But, you know, you'd prefer a player do more than that. Um, and obviously he could spike in week six and that doesn't
23:44help so much. But the the point being like we're now we're in a range of player in the 13th round where if
23:53there's weekly upside which like there very clearly is with Hunter uh contingent does play in there but also the fact that he is a really
24:04talented like a really talented NFL player who is going to have uh opportunities throughout the year to prove that to us again to remind us
24:15of it. I think we all know it for some reason. Many have forgotten. Dude is really really good at wide receiver, not
24:21just cornerback. Uh I think the price is kind of silly. It's It's a huge part of my season at this point. Uh so we'll see. We'll see if it
24:31pays off.
24:33Uh all right.
24:39BTJ was a first round of rookie smash.
24:42They refuses to trade last year. They trade for JM and Pam. They trade the farm for TH.
24:50PW was on the team during all this. Can someone explain Parker Washington? I mean, Parker Washington has had quite the camp. I'm I'm in on getting some
24:59Parker Washington in the sixth at this point. So, he went 5'11 here, you know, in this range like where right before
25:07Thomas went. I am trying to get a little bit of of Washington. He's risen, you know, but he's not like I thought maybe
25:14he might make a a charge up to the early fifth and he hasn't.
25:19And I'm okay trying to get a little bit of Washington at, you know, the early sixth round price. Uh we have we have
25:25come up on him on this drum beat. not like, you know, where we're going to be leading the charge on him now. But it
25:32does, I think probably maybe the biggest thing was that um in addition to Washington just being very clearly a part of their plans, the stuff about
25:40Hunter playing on the outside uh is pretty intriguing because it shows you that they're like trying to find ways to put Hunter and Washington on the field
25:48together. Uh that's that's kind of my read anyway.
25:54Uh all right.
25:57Last year, your truth serum on George Pickins was super helpful with me. Do you have an equivalent player this year?
26:04I don't have my truth serum take uh this season. I'm sure Pete's going to send out requests for that soonish and I'll
26:14I'll think about it. Uh mine tend to be stuff like, you know, a couple years ago my take was Jaden Daniels was going to
26:21smash and I wasn't taking nearly enough of him uh because I was so so in on Drake May. So, it tends to be takes like
26:27that where it's like there's a player I think is an awesome pick and I just haven't been taking enough of them
26:35because, you know, there's other things I like a little bit more, but um I kind of had a, you know, little little
26:43bit of a victory lap. I had one of these moments earlier this offseason with Jacobe Lane where I wrote up an article
26:48and I was like, I'm not taking Jacobe Lane. I'm only taking Sarat. That's dumb. I'm going to stop doing that and
26:53take Lane. So, I'm doing my best to come up with these things earlier so that I can benefit from uh rather than just
27:00putting in it as a truth ser like here's a thing I screwed up all summer. I'm trying to find those blind spots and fix
27:05them. Uh but I'm sure there's one out there that'll occur to me uh later on.
27:13Uh Denzel Boston would have been like I said, we've been taking him and I think have done a good job with him. But
27:18that's like another kind of classic one.
27:20I love Conpsion.
27:22Uh, and so, you know, I could see myself like not taking bossings. I'm too in on Conpsion.
27:28But, uh, yeah, I don't know yet, but I'll I'll certainly be thinking about it. Godwin on the sidekick, have you come up on him a little? I think it was
27:37more about this build uh, needing a receiver in the eighth round. Uh, that Godwin was there. But yeah, I've actually when we we're going to do we
27:48did a big update yesterday. We'll do another update tomorrow. and Godwin's on the list cuz it sounds like Godwin's having a good camp and Ibuka's had, you
27:56know, a fine camp but not like the dominant camp that he had last year. So, he's definitely someone on my mind. We
28:04haven't done a ton of ton of changes recently though.
28:09Uh, as someone new to baseball fantasy, how much do by-weeks matter and does it vary? It does vary uh depending on the format that you're
28:17in, right? So, if you're in the eliminator or uh weekly winners where you're, you know, you're only trying to score the most points in a given week,
28:26uh you know, you can stack up by weeks and all that. So, the format factors in quite a bit for baseball mania, which I
28:33assume is what you meant. Uh they matter. I think they matter probably most at quarterback where taking a zero would be pretty bad. Uh if you can
28:42easily avoid it, if you can cheaply avoid it, it's generally best to do so.
28:47And um yeah, so that's one Shady talked about this recently on uh on a pod with Pete Overzet uh Best Afterdark. He uh
28:59was mentioning how before we had the schedule, Sidekick really preferred three quarterback um just because you like it cost you very little to dramatically increase the
29:10probability of of not having both your quarterbacks on on the uh on buy at the same time. And now that we have the
29:15schedule, we seek three quarterback builds. This is likely to be one of them. Uh but it's not like as big a part
29:23of uh it's more about like, hey, this quarterback room could kind of use some extra points as opposed to like we were
29:31seeing three quarterback builds where, you know, the quarterback one and two were both like in this nine 10 round range. Uh
29:40so yeah, the buys do have an impact for sure. I would say if you're just kind of the simplest thing is is just trying to
29:47make sure your your quarterbacks don't share the same by-week. Uh and if they do that's fine but you you probably want
29:53to attack one a third. Are you running back the show with Rich Rebar this season? I am. We are going to be uh once
29:59again doing angles and upside uh in season and I'm excited to do that. Uh that's that was a huge that was a blast
30:08last year. Uh, wide receiver 4 sounds bearish as heck.
30:14Welcome to best ball, brother. A wide receiver four generally would be bearish. Yeah, but um I don't like in this particular scenario, Hunter being
30:25the wide receiver three would be like he should he should be like in the sixth round cuz in some senses Parker
30:35Washington is the wide receiver through, right? I mean, Jacobe Myers is really probably better cast as the wide receiver three, but it's going to be
30:42spread. Uh, I think and so, you know, you're getting a guy who's got a big chunk of what's going on because he is
30:50the dude they're most invested in. Um, yeah. So, I recognize that normally wide receiver 4 might sound might sound bearish.
31:02Crod glass eater comment may have sold me on him. I didn't see the glass eater comment. They're saying this dude eats
31:07glass. Rodriguez being back. We have raised Rodriguez. He's a He's a decent pick. I think now that he's fallen a ton.
31:15Uh, who do you think the highest ADP player is where you basically have zero, if not zero?
31:24I don't have a lot of Olve. I don't have a lot of Ibuka. Ibuka is probably the answer. I'm I'm pretty low on Ibuka. It
31:32doesn't sound like he's having some incredible camp either. And so, uh, I don't I'm not like maybe I should be more afraid of that,
31:41but I'm I'm not super afraid of it.
31:44Just one of those things where he is being cast as this guy who's going to break out and be one of these like first
31:49round wide receivers next year. Um, that's kind of how I'm looking at his price is is that's what it's sort of
31:56asking of me to believe in. And I don't really believe that. So, uh, I haven't been taking a time. I think there's better ways to play it in
32:06the in the third round.
32:11How worried should we be about a PUCA suspension? I'm not particularly worried, but it is I I don't think it's a nonzero.
32:18What parts of your portfolio are you trying to smooth out as we move closer towards the end of draft season, and
32:23what parts are you celebrating prematurely?
32:27Uh, you know, I'm happy with with the dribbling stuff that's aged well. I was dribbling about stribbling, you know, as Sam Sherman also was dribbling about
32:37dribbling with me, but we were two of the only guys out there dribbling and uh you know, being told that taking him in
32:44the 200s was was bad because he sucks and was never do anything even if you played a thousand years he'd never catch
32:51a ball, I believe was the the quote.
32:55No. Uh uh a little hyperbolic on the the anti-stribbling case, but I do think that stribbling uh was a nice call for
33:03us early on. We aren't really taking him that much anymore because he's risen so much. Um maybe smoothing out uh I would like to smooth out my last
33:15round picks a little bit, but our friend Jeremy Bernard remains a staple of what we're doing.
33:22Uh, this is one of those ones Pete's talked about this kind of the the don't get bored idea where I think I'm hopeful
33:30there's going to be a period of time where I wish I could take Jeremy Bernard and he's he's going earlier now and you
33:37don't just get a second round pick completely for free um anymore and I look back at days like today and feel a little longing but for
33:49now I'm getting kind of bored because I take Jeremy Bernard all the time. He's my highest drafted player. Um, you know,
33:55Pitman and Metaf are banged up. He's been playing with the ones. I think Roman Wilson's technically ahead, but uh it's Roman Wilson. Not real scared about
34:03that. So, I think Bernard's going to have uh a lot more value than this ADP would reflect. I think he's a pretty
34:09safe bet to get work over the course of a full NFL season and pay off a best ADP of completely free. Uh but yeah, I mean
34:20getting getting super super overweight on any of these rookie wide receivers can feel a little uncomfortable.
34:28Um and so I guess I wouldn't mind if there was hype, but if there's not if his ADP doesn't change, I think I'm just
34:34I'm just doing it. I'm just doing it the whole summer. I just think it's it's kind of crazy. Like Chase Clayool was a
34:41smash at this at this exact ADP. And uh Chase Clay Pool stings uh more Travis Hunter cope. It's not really cope. I'm making the bull case on
34:52one of my highest drafted players. I think you're going to be coping. You get ready to cope. I'm not coping. You cope.
35:01Uh JCM and Parker are two of the hardest players to get in drafts right now.
35:05Yeah, Bill was a guy that uh we have changed on fairly aggressively. not not gone crazy I would say but just um you
35:13know definitely someone I I wanted to get more of with the news breaking his way and kind of just seeing it a little
35:20bit differently like oh they were talking about the passing stuff I think because they want him to not like tip what they're doing uh not
35:31because he's going to be some satellite back which always seemed ridiculous but because they're like hey man just like please let us play you more and and That
35:40seems to be the way that this uh this offseason or this training camp seems to be shaping up where he seems like he's
35:47going to be the lead. And I was underweight. I'm trying my best to to get overweight on him. Greg Brandos and
35:53I talked about him on Monday. And Greg was was pretty out earlier and he's seems to be more in now, too. So things
35:59are shifting Bill's way and uh even though I was not overweight on him before that, I I'm that would be a spot
36:07I'm trying to smooth out for sure. I'd like to get more bill.
36:11One one thing generally I like to do is like if I'm if I ch basically a situation changes or if I'm seeing a
36:19situation differently and the price hasn't changed a ton, I like to be aggressive there, right? Like I I have a chance to catch up. I have a chance to
36:29um you know like Malik Neighbors we weren't as bullish on as you know we could have been. I suppose I think the
36:37reporting there was a little misleading at points, but you know, whatever. He's healthier than we thought. That's awesome.
36:47There was a period where you could jump in drafts and just try to get as much Malik Neighbors in the early third as
36:52you you possibly could, and I did that, you know. So there's there's ways and there's there's periods where you go like I will pay a slight premium and be
37:01aggressive about paying that premium as opposed to like just kind of putting your head in the sand and and you know not eating the L
37:11because you can kind of eat an L that's a little L and then you can turn an L into a W you know if you get it quick
37:18enough sometimes. So, yeah, Bill's one of those spots where I think we can ultimately be overweight on Bill at pretty good prices, even though we were
37:27underweight on him uh at a little bit of a better price. It's just one of those things.
37:34Uh all right, so I'll recap the team and then I've jumped into a big eliminator.
37:38There are two remaining spots in the big eliminator. If anyone wants to jump in that, help us fill that, that would be
37:44awesome. Uh, and we can see that the sidekick does indeed work for the big eliminator. Uh, but this team, Ammon St.
37:53Brown, let me let me actually do a position by position. So, Brock Pury, Daniel Jones, and Aaron Rogers at quarterback. Uh, it's a 3573 build at
38:04running back. I did call this, didn't I?
38:06I said we going to go wide receiver, wide receiver, then we'll probably hit or a very good chance anyway that we'll
38:12hit, you know, four running backs. Stop at four. I was wrong in the sense that we didn't stop at four. We hit five
38:18straight. Bree Hall, Josh Jacobs, Bashel Tutin, Jadarian Price, and Jonathan Brooks. And then we're done. Then uh at receiver, Aminar St. Brown, AJ Brown,
38:27Chris Godwin, Casey Conpsion, Trey Tucker, Tank Dell, Jeremy Bernard. And then at tight end, Daltton Concaid, Jake Ferguson, and Cade Atten. Not a ton of
38:39stacking on this team. We do have like a little bit of a stack without the quarterback on the Bucks side of things.
38:44Um, and we've got a single stack from Rogers to Jeremy Bernard. Uh, but otherwise, yeah, not a not a ton of of
38:52stacking, but I like the the structure is pretty fun. You get these five running backs and then you're done with the double hammer at wide receiver. You
39:01could have two elite receivers on this team and a really strong running back room and then that's kind of the engine
39:07driving things. And then you're you have depth at both tight end and quarterback with with the three at each onesie. So,
39:13it's a pretty fun build.
39:16Uh that I haven't done like a ton of start to rip five.
39:22It's probably you'd call it hyper fragile or something, but yeah. I don't know. You can do some more some builds that are harder to name. Oh, and we're
39:30off. We're on the clock over on the big eliminator and it's going to be Jamar Chase out of the 103.
39:38Uh, and you can see if you pull this out here, uh, we've got advancement structure.
39:44This is this is 10 of 12 advance in round one. Then eight of 10, eight of 10, six of eight, six of eight, four of
39:50six, two of four, four of six, six of eight, four of six, two of four, 18 of 23, four of six, two of four, two of
39:58four, one of three. and then a heads up in the big eliminator final. Uh so pretty fun pretty fun uh structure here.
40:07Obviously you could also just click uh on underdog, but uh you know it's kind of nice to know, especially if you're
40:14multitabling or you got slows going uh if you've got the sidekick pulled out, you can see quickly what what format you're in.
40:23Uh but yeah, this is $50,000 to first, $100 to enter. And yeah, pretty unique uh tournament structure.
40:34Helpful to have Sims uh when you're in something like this.
40:41All right, I'm going to answer some questions from the Discord and then I'll get back to the chat here. Uh Sidekick
40:47is giving me a lot of two quarterback, five tight end builds with Darnell Washington and Charlie Kar. This is a floor play to avoid the potential of
40:54Tua, Gino, Jacobe, Willis benching.
40:58Um, I don't think that we're necessar It's basically that tight ends can pop up and hit your lineup fairly easily. I
41:06think is generally um why we're liking the five tight end builds. And then there's like Darnell Washington probably not going to be an
41:16absolute smash, but also won't be like a healthy scratch. So, relative to, you know, a reasonably weak late round
41:26running back crop, I think we like those those uh those tight ends a little bit more as a result of that dynamic as
41:32well. Shady recently talked about like how, you know, you get it's like, oh, we have Marshon Lloyd, that'll help us, you
41:38know, do some different things later.
41:40Well, will it? Because he's rocketing up there. People are pretty thirsty for for running backs in like round 14, 15. So
41:48if you find a guy in round 17 and 18 doesn't really stay there. Um and I would say five five tonin builds I've
41:55not really seen so much on underdog. I imagine uh Stephen here is is asking more about DraftKings but I have seen
42:02that a bit on DraftKings.
42:05Um all right there was a big discussion
42:11about top guy versus the third guy. Uh, I I suppose because you're saying like you you maybe get a little different,
42:22but sack answers the question. The sidekick is showing you the pick that makes the most sense on average as the top pick. It's accounting for all the
42:30relevant factors, including week 17 correlation, etc. It's a frequency thing. When you see a sidekick passing on a stack, Drake May versus Joe Burrow,
42:36it's not correct to take 100% Drake May in that situation given the choice between him and Burrow is effectively what the sidekick is telling you.
42:45So, it's a good answer and I'll just uh I'll just go with that. Um, this draft we have Jamar Chase. It's
42:56going to be Drake London or Bree Hall as the next pick. If you're not familiar with the Eliminator ADP, it is different
43:05obviously different format. Running backs tend to go a bit higher. Um, you don't tend to get, you know, zero running back starts, but I do have
43:15starts like this, receiver, receiver.
43:19Uh, we also like the elite tight ends on eliminator, which is which is kind of interesting. I've taken double elite tight end and eliminator as well. Uh,
43:28Sims do not seem to mind that. But yeah, Javvante Williams popping up here, which is like, you know, oh, he go getting
43:37sniped on Javvante Williams at the 302 or I'm at the 303, but the 302 takes him. Jeremiah Love,
43:47uh, you know, ahead of Nico Collins feels kind of gross getting Jeremiah 11 the third is something I do a lot of in regular
43:57baseball.
44:06All right. There was a there's a question about the sidekick quote burying a player. They won't show up no matter how far you scroll down
44:14even way past ADP. Guys that are ranked behind the leg up rankings. I found it usually did this with players who have
44:19ranked lower than ADP like Alec Pierce, Michael Wilson, Jaden Higgins. Why is that? that shady answers because we don't show every player in the player
44:27pool in the sidekick. We're showing you um them in in basically the order of uh you know how much they help your team
44:37and some guys don't help your team very much based on the way we have it simmed out.
44:43So could be, you know, some uh something to that particular set of sims, but more often it's the player that's just I we
44:54don't think is a good pick. Um we're keeping an eye on that kind of stuff. Like if there's guys we just
45:00aren't taking at all, even if they fall, that's something that jumps out to us. I mean, one of the, I think, advantages of
45:06the way we're doing stuff here is that like me, Shady, Sack, uh, we have a lot of volume down using the sidekick and,
45:15uh, you know, the rest of the team is drafting with it as well. Like we're we're aware of the guys who we don't
45:20really see when they fall. And it's at least something that kind of triggers a review for us to make sure we're not
45:25we're not like burying guys we don't want to be burying.
45:30Uh if you either had to take the ADP faller by round after two example three spot fall for a
45:41not top guy in round three.
45:44Uh sorry Rickadoo I don't understand your question but if you can put it back in uh I'll try to answer it. Um if I
45:52used the sidekick for my home guillotine league how do you think it would perform? It wouldn't work. It wouldn't load. Um but but yeah, you know, you
46:02could kind of think of maybe some lessons from the eliminator with with guillotine, right? Because you got to you got to survive those first weeks and
46:09then um and then you know, you're going to be bidden for guys on on uh on waiverss. So the eliminator might might
46:17be helpful. Draft some eliminators might give you some ideas for the guillotine, but we don't support the guillotine.
46:23Uh, what do you think it would ultimately take for Murray to get benched for JJM this season? What are the Vikings incentives with either
46:30player? I I think that Murray could get benched. We have like pretty high bench risk for Murray ultimately and he still
46:37pops as a good pick for us. Uh, but I think yeah, if they miss the playoffs and Murray looks bad, then I think they
46:45will probably take a look at JJ McCarthy. One thing Murray has going for him is that they might decide they've seen enough JJ McCarthy, right? you
46:53could see Murray maybe getting the job back. I think one incentive that is important to think about is that this is
47:02a head coach whose GM was fired and at one time was seen as like a really uh you know kind of nextgen sharp
47:12uh guy and now is a little bit like hey man where's the playoff results you know people are getting a little bit uh
47:20impatient.
47:22I don't think Kevin Okonnell wants a season where he misses the playoff, benches Kyler Murray, JJ McCarthy comes in, looks like
47:30crap. I think that's how he gets fired.
47:33Like, if you're just saying like, how could Kevin Oonnell kind of get himself fired?
47:38That's how. [snorts] But oh, here's Luther Burton. Now, this is the big eliminator, remember? So, this is not uh 50/50. This is 10 of 12
47:47advance in round one, then eight of 10, eight of 10. So, it makes sense to take a little bit of a discount here on
47:53Burden, who could miss, you know, a game or two or whatever, but is probably gonna be, you know, out there pretty early in the
48:02season and could be a pretty big smash in the fifth round. I've been wanting to take Luther Bird in the fifth round in
48:11regular baseball. We get him here in eight of 10 advance. Uh, I think we could or 10 of 12 advance rather, right?
48:1910 of 12 advance, then eight of 10.
48:22I think that could work out well.
48:25One of the things I do like about uh the alternate formats is drafting with the sidekick, you'll get a different mix of
48:33players. Um, you know, different ADPs and different formats and and sometimes people, you know, kind of the mental framework that that they have for these
48:42games, like it'll be two one way or the other, like you can't take rookies and eliminator. Well, you can if they're
48:50really cheap, right? And you pair them with players that kind of help you get through those first few weeks and then
48:56you might have a rookie come on. You know, we've seen like big weeks from rookies pretty early in the season. So,
49:02you know, stuff like that. Um there can be formats where guys that we don't have a ton of uh in one format, you can
49:10actually see them be a target in another. So, it's a nice nice little kind of um side effect of mixing up my
49:18stuff.
49:21Could argue that Hunter is the most talented wide receiver on the Jags. He just doesn't have the role for fantasy.
49:25Well, we'll see. I mean, he doesn't have like a smash role. If he did, then, you know, we take him where we did last
49:33year, which is like the fourth round.
49:35Uh, is there anything that can make you capitulate to Pwash or just too price prohibitive? Sticking the prospect profile can't buy the players get
49:41better. maybe that the slot roll is just so valuable. Uh I would say, you know, we've we have raised PEOS uh
49:51like multiple times in the last few weeks. So it's not like that I'm like sticking to my guns that Pwash is like
49:58whatever I thought he was three weeks ago.
50:02Um we're iterating, you know, we're we're trying to move and get more accurate on this stuff. And I do think that the Pwash uh hype has been
50:10encouraging and has been accompanied by stuff like, you know, Hunter potentially playing more outside and not in the slot that that would help help Washington.
50:20There has been hype on on Thomas pretty consistently as well. And there's been a good amount of hype on Hunter and how
50:25he's looked as as a pass catcher. Uh and I just very very clearly is going to have a role. So, uh, I think that we
50:33generally have a good view of things, but we were too low on Washington before and we've raised him. So, you know, in a
50:39sense, we have capitulated. I don't think that we're going to ever be the outfit that like just kind of puts on
50:47the jersey of of, you know, Parker Washington and that I think we're kind of at a point where he's a little bit of
50:53a mean player to some degree where like to truly capitulate, we just kind of have to have to paint our faces. You
51:00know what I mean? So, we're not going to do that. But, I do think um you know, he's he's a better pick than I thought
51:07and he's someone I'm taking more of than I was and we changed the inputs on him.
51:13Uh that shows a [ __ ] wagon. Talking about angles and upside. Appreciate that. Are you prepared for 13th round Pat Bryant?
51:22I'm prepared to take Drake May in the big eliminator. I'll tell you that. 13th round Pat Bryant. Let's see. Am I fully
51:28prepared? I am at 13% Pat Bryant, the future 13th round pick, so I'm somewhat prepared. I wish I had a little bit
51:37more. He's had a good camp. Uh, you know, if he's going to be in the 13th round, but I I'm in on Pat Bryant. He's
51:44been, I think, a good way to play uh the the wide receiver. He's he's been the most likely wide receiver three in in
51:50Denver in an offense I want to be invested in.
51:54Uh, all right. So, Jonathan Brooks will be our pick here in the seventh. the big eliminator. If you're if you're just
52:00joining us, this is $100 to enter. Uh 50k to first and bit of a cash game format. Uh
52:11where I mean, it's not even you don't even get the 50/50s until the final weeks, but it's 10 of 12 advanced than
52:16eight of 10, eight of 10, six of eight, six of eight, and so on. And um I guess you do have a two of four mixed in. It's
52:23a pretty interesting structure.
52:25And uh currently through seven rounds, we've got Drake man at quarterback, Jeremiah Love, Quinn Sean Judkins, Jonathan Brooks at running back, and
52:34then Jamar Chase, Drake London, and Luther Burton at wide receiver.
52:41Uh like the stream. Please like the stream. Uh please check out what we got going on at Legendary Upside as well. Uh
52:48we've got the Sidekick, which you see here. You can check that out at legendaryupside.com/sidekick.
52:52driven by Shades Sims. Uh, super powerful, supports weekly winners, eliminator, regular baseball, and it adjusts to whatever contest you're in, whether that's like a different type of
53:04best ball, you know, the uh the eliminator versus versus Best Mania, but it also adjusts for the contest. For example, the 555 over on DraftKings has
53:16a much smaller final than the BBM over on DraftKings and that is factored in as well. So, super helpful. But we also
53:24have rankings, uh, articles and a tool called the kickstand, and that is all available as part of the leg up package. And that's that starts at 15
53:34bucks a month over at LegUp. So, um, or that that tier is 15 bucks a month, and the sidekick tier uh is is the tier
53:41above that. That's 200 for the month and 500 for the year covers playoff baseball and pre-draft baseball and summer best baseball under one subscription. But if
53:50you're looking for just a a tool to help you get started, the kickstand includes the on the clock notification sound, uh
53:59the tags here that you see here, the the exposure, and then you can upload custom rankings or use ours which auto update
54:06in the tool.
54:07Very very nice entry point if you're looking to get started in baseball.
54:11Again, just 15 bucks a month for the kickstand.
54:15You're currently looking at the sidekick. I'll leave the notification sound on so you can hear. Uh I think it's uh it's a nice feature. Nice
54:21feature if you're multi multitabling uh or multitasking.
54:26Watson and the and Sanders battle feels to me like a lot like the 24 Baker Tras camp where the media was hyping Tras is
54:34beating Baker pretty easily. It might be ugly, but a lot of the value if you get DW all year, it doesn't really remind me
54:41of that. Uh, Tras and Baker was like, my recollection was a bit different was that it was like sort of like, yeah, it
54:48could be Tras and then it was kind of like, yeah, it's probably Baker. They talked a lot about the interceptions that Baker was throwing. Honestly, it
54:55feels more to me like that that battle feels more to me like the Murray McCarthy one where you kind of knew that
55:02it wasn't Kyle Tras.
55:06Um I have no idea who's going to win the quarterback job in Cleveland. It looked like maybe it was going to be
55:16uh Watson because he got like backto-back days with the ones and then then there was a report that like kind of went Sanders's way. So I I don't
55:23think they know yet. It's a it's a rough spot for them to be in. Like there's no good answer, right? So we have it pretty
55:31pretty close to to a tossup. And we've changed it uh you know as we've gotten more information or or kind of gotten
55:38less more and less confident, I would say. Uh are you and the Sims adjusting to the size of the final have been doing more
55:48funky combinatorial ownership stuff on DK flagship for example? It does. The Sims. It's not like we have to like the way this process works is that um is
55:58accounting for the size of the final.
56:01Shades talked about like have you get into weekly winners? Uh you'll notice that things feel like a bit noisier there in that format. Um because like
56:13for example, I've been doing some weekly winter slows and I'll have like Kairen Adams and uh and Puka and I will take
56:22Matthew Stafford like over Jaden Daniels in that and it's cuz I'm just like in a different part of the game tree than you
56:31know like I need the Rams I I win when the Rams blow up in weekly winners, right?
56:36Um, and so you you kind of like end up in different different things that's reflecting the payoff structure of that particular tournament. But you also have
56:44in weekly winners, you're competing against every other team that's been drafted that week. And so you don't want to be you don't want to have teams that
56:53are, you know, super super similar to other people's teams. You don't want to be drafting a set of teams that's super
56:58similar to itself because you are competing against yourself directly in weekly winners in a way that's not really true of baseball mania. Uh and so
57:06like all that kind of stuff is factored in like that is it's not like a thing that we turn on. It's like inherent to
57:14the process of of uh of using Sims.
57:19Uh any concern on the lemon exposure? I think Goddard is the two this year and that offense has concerns. Uh yeah, I
57:28mean I think Goddard could be the two.
57:31Uh Wix could also be the two. There's downside to Lemon for sure. Lemon was a really good college receiver who went
57:39first round and gets open and draws targets. Like that's like what he does.
57:45He does that both on the outside and in the slot. and I think ultimately can be an outside wide receiver and a very
57:51productive one in the NFL. So, Goddard could be the two. I think that would represent a failure from Lemon to take
57:57advantage of a of an opportunity. Uh, you know, and and it just probably means he's not as good as we're hoping, but
58:05the upside that Lemon has from this price is is massive. You know, it's it's the Lad Mac, the Brian Thomas kind of
58:14like, oh, okay. you know, the the Z Flowers type of hits that really are impactful. And uh we've just repeatedly
58:23seen like if you're gonna give us eighth round, first round receivers, late seventh round guys, even early seventh round guys that that were first round
58:32receivers with uh immediate paths to playing time, we should be in on that. And in Lemon's case, it's not just like, well, he's not
58:42a great prospect, but he won first round. like he was a good prospect, really productive, early to clear and a fantasy friendly type of guy. Like not
58:51just some downfield burner, but a guy who gets open and draws targets.
58:56So yeah, I'm not concerned on the lemon exposure. I wish he, you know, didn't have a hammy issue. That would be better
59:04for me. Uh but ultimately, you know, it's it's like, hey, we're playing one slate. You know, this is like it's like it doesn't feel like it
59:14because it's a whole year of our lives, but it's kind of like we're playing week seven DFS or whatever. And I'm pretty
59:21sure that it's like I'm got a guy who's kind of like, you know, either really lowowned or just really low priced and
59:28not getting mega jammed, you know? It's like this this there's an edge here to being in on lemon for this slate. And
59:36it's not always going to work um when you find those types of plays, but uh I think over the long run being in on on
59:46the the types of plays that Lemon is is going to is going to make money. At least that's what I think for the way
59:52I'm playing it.
59:55So yeah, I wish he hadn't uh you know missed a few days here of practice, but I never got bored of DJ Giddens last
60:04year. Yeah, DJ Giddens. Um that's one of those guy that's one of those plays I'm trying to do less of those types of
60:11speculative uh hey, he might be the RB2 uh type of play can the floor on those can hurt.
60:19Uh any players that you're waiting on pre-season signal to move on this weekend. Always the the running backs, you know, Nick Singleton would be one I
60:30I'm going to keep a close eye on there.
60:33Uh I think, you know, always the Washington backfield. That's, you know, any of these kind of these depth charts where we're not 100% sure about like how
60:43the RB2 versus the RB3 would shake out.
60:46I mean, certainly like the Bucks, like is Shawn Tucker in the mix at all or is he pretty much just a reserve? You know,
60:55um those those types of things are are probably what I care about the most right now. The other thing, you know,
61:03probably good to remember that it is just the the first preseason game. We we do see things shift a little bit as
61:10preseason goes. We also see teams try stuff out. I know, you know, Denver was doing some Denver does kind of whatever
61:17they want. I don't I feel like they have the least preseason signal of anyone.
61:22Um, but yeah, so we're going to see some noise from the preseason uh snaps, but we see some signal as well. So, it'll
61:31take some parsing and some uh you know, just remembering that we have priors heading into this that whatever we see is not the beall end all. Got Bernard of
61:40the 1812 took a screenshot. Let's go.
61:43What up, Pat? Late but present. Welcome.
61:45Welcome. The days of Bill and the 11th are over. I think they are over. Uh, but you know, the 10th is still pretty good.
61:51What's your opinion on Mike Evans? I feel like after we knew Piersaw was out, Evans ADP somehow went down. I like
61:57Evans. I've been in on Evans. Uh, I agree with you that, you know, I think he I think because uh Debo signed
62:04shortly thereafter and then Stribbling's been hyped that Evans hasn't risen a ton. But I'm at 11%.
62:12Um, it's hard to be like completely in on Evans because he's an old receiver that has dealt with injuries recently.
62:19But yeah, I mean, he's definitely someone I uh I do take and uh I think he would have been I believe he was ahead of Burden here in
62:29this big eliminator uh and and got sniped. So, he would have been on this team if if if Gobbler Oh, what's up, Gobbler? Uh
62:39we uh if if he had not taken Evans then I would have him here. So yeah, I am generally in.
62:51What are your thoughts on the Texans receiver room? Tank Dell's looking pretty good. I mean he's, you know, he's still working back, but he keeps like he
62:59keeps hitting checkpoints on his way to getting back. Uh I feel I'm feeling pretty good about him. We raised him yesterday. you know, he's in pads now.
63:09Um, he has been playing outside some. It seems like maybe Jaden Higgins is going to play some in the slot and so
63:19I I think he's a starting receiver for for the Texans as long as the health allows, which isn't a lock, but is
63:25looking good. And so I I like Tank Dell.
63:28We took him on the last team, the BBM team. got him uh in the 15th round, the 1507 175.
63:39I like him at that price. I think you can pretty easily pay that price off. I mean, after his rookie season, we're
63:43taking this dude in the third round, three, four turn kind of range. And uh that didn't work. [laughter] But uh you know, we we get him cheap
63:53once again and he can kind of get back close to what he was. I think he pretty easily pays off that ADP. So, I like
63:58him. I like Schultz cheap. I do like Nico too. Jaden Higgins is the one I haven't been drafting a ton of. I'm just
64:05not as sure about kind of the talent with Higgins and he's not he's not very very cheap like Dell. He doesn't have
64:12tight end eligibility like Schultz, right? And I'm not sure he's a star like Nico Collins is a star. So Higgins is the guy I'm not drafting a
64:21ton of, but generally in on the Texans.
64:22I know Rich has wr written about uh the Texans being kind of a a bounceback offense. Straoud is is another guy we
64:29take too. I think Strow's pretty undervalued. So, uh, sorry you missed the big eliminator here. Appreciate Matt
64:39saying it's a good team that we drafted.
64:41Uh, how much lane do you have and when should we stop drafting? I'm currently at 50 in the DK Millie. So, Jacobe Lane
64:48I don't have a ton of in on underdog.
64:50I'm at 7% Jacobe Lane. Um, but I am higher on DraftKings because there's extra rounds there. So, I'm at 15% on
65:02DraftKings and he's been a feature of what I was doing in high stakes. Jacobe Lane. Sometimes what I would do on
65:08DraftKings is I would just take both Serat and Lane and especially in like the 555 where I'm like, "Hey, if I get
65:17like a if I get the Ravens wide receiver three with two of these picks in a 20 round draft format with a fairly small
65:24final, I think I'm going to be pretty happy. So, I have um I've got 15% lane, but but he's my second highest entry fee
65:32player on on DraftKings behind only chat favorite Travis Hunter. So, Travis Hunter uh you know, and hey, I've known he's a quarterback all all off
65:44seasonason, you know, and I'm continuing to draft him. So, uh yeah, but he but it's Hunter and then Jacobe Lane is my
65:51two high highest entry fee players. I was helped out by the fact that Serat has been more expensive than lane. So if
65:59if people were just giving me free Sarat in the 20th round, I would have a lot of him in high stakes. Uh but instead, it's
66:05lane, which is nice. So I'm not like super overweight, but I feel good uh about the way I was playing it. Just
66:12getting mixing him in more when when I had those extra rounds to play with and sometimes taking like Baitman in lane,
66:19uh Sarat in lane. Uh, now I wasn't really taking Tes Walker so much, but but yeah, that that was just one of
66:26those spots where like you knew it was ambiguous. There was clear opportunity for whoever was good and uh it's hard to
66:34know which guy was going to be good. I don't think the Ravens probably knew between like when you spend a third and
66:39then a fourth on a receiver, you're probably just hoping one of them's good.
66:45Uh, and it looks like one of them is.
66:49commanders could run it back with Rashad White standing in for Rodriguez in terms of rushing production. So, I'm not moved on the build news that they could do
66:56that. I would say that Rashad White as far as a downhill runner is kind of bad.
67:00So, it would be a little different. I think he'd basically be like a McNichols plus um and then Bill maybe consolidate
67:06some of that Rodriguez rushing work, but you know, it could be kind of like he's a Jordan Masony type of guy. Uh it might
67:15not ultimately be that exciting.
67:19All right, Ryan Florenoi, who I don't draft a ton of, but get him at 171 here in the big eliminator.
67:29Like I was talking about kind of mixing up some of the the prices get mixed up a little bit. The exposures get mixed up a
67:35little bit in a nice way.
67:38Uh, have you come up on Evan Ingram with his camp hype? Not a ton on Ingram. I mean, he's a he's so old, you know, and
67:44we know they're going to they're going to limit his playing time with like it's Sean Peyton, right? He's going to he's
67:50going to play and he's going to play Taesm Hill now.
67:53It's just like but you know, Troutman or whatever. Like they're just going to the big blocking guy. Remember the one year
67:59they had like a million Erics just play like every Eric uh that that was tight end eligible in the NFL. It's it's going
68:08to be a little bit um I think it's be a little bit of a committee, but it is nice to see that, you know, he's he's
68:15had a good camp. We do take some of them primarily on DraftKings uh in like the the 19th 20th.
68:24Should uh Puka drop in the elim reporting about the potential suspension looming? Let's see. He did go 104 here.
68:31Pretty pretty typical.
68:34If he was going to drop anywhere, I would say he probably should drop there before, you know, BBM or whatever. I
68:40don't I kind of feel like it's probably more so the NFL uh sort of saying like, hey, we we're
68:52not ignoring this. We we take this seriously.
68:56You know, there might be a little story during the game where Puka plays of like we sat down with Puka, you know, we
69:02talked to Pu, we talked to McVey, he they had really, you know, the rehab story like the little TV package hit
69:10thing. Like that's that's kind of the world I think we're in as opposed to him getting suspended. I don't know. But I
69:17don't think the NFL's like has a lot of incentive to um suspend him, make it the big story of the Australia game that he's not there.
69:28Why isn't he here? We have to talk about exactly why, you know, like it would be I think there's sort of incentives from
69:36everyone involved to try to make this a story that um they can kind of talk about and move on.
69:44So yeah, that's where I'm at. I think Shfter, you know, raising that does tell you there is a chance he gets suspended.
69:52Uh I don't think it's a high chance, though.
69:58Uh all right, let's see.
70:03Does Sack ever not do top clip click except for the 555 diversity he's talked about some? Uh, as far as I know, I think that, uh, you
70:14know, Saxs, the other thing I I know of that, you know, Sack and Shady have talked about doing is, uh, playing the
70:21room and seeing like, hey, this uh, this guy's not likely to come back, right? I need a quarterback. He's second, you
70:28know, I've got I've got a receiver. I'm just making this up. This isn't something I'm not quoting them, but like you got a receiver. You're in the the 10
70:36hole.
70:38um you don't have a quarterback. The guy that there's no quarterbacks taken in 11 or 12 and uh they're both they've both
70:47got six receivers.
70:49You might push a receiver and take a quarterback there, right? Like something like that. You can kind of play your room. Uh also, if you're if you do a lot
70:59of the high stakes stuff, you kind of know guys take certain certain players way ahead of ADP. That's what Shades talked about with like Trey McBride. Um,
71:08you know, he knows like that ADP isn't reflective of that particular room. You know, that can that can change things up
71:14too.
71:17I always struggle with building a team after taking an elite TE and I never like the team after. Yeah. I mean, I
71:24think that's like kind of a a perception thing that I have broken through on where I kind of like my my elite tight
71:32end teams, especially to me, if you look at the the receiver in the running back rooms and you're like, "Oh, okay. Yeah, this team's this team's
71:42pretty good." You know, it's not blowing me away, but it's a pretty good team.
71:44And then you're like, "And as Bowers, that's kind of how [gasps] that's kind of how I go." You know, that's that's um
71:51the teams that I really like that are elite tight end teams kind of feel like that. And I think that's a good elite
71:56elite tight end team. Like you're not going to have the the best wide receiver room when you spend a second round pick
72:00on Bowers, you know, or the same goes at running back generally. You're not going to have the best combo running back,
72:06wide receiver room, unless people in your draft room are just doing crazy stuff. So yeah, it's more like, all right, this team looks pretty solid.
72:15What do I do at tight end? It's the type of team that at tight end I wouldn't be surprised if I had like Hunter Henry,
72:22Brenton Strange, and Daltton Schultz.
72:24Oh, I have Bowers and Concaid.
72:28Awesome. You know, um All right. Burden round 11, Keeper League or Neighbors round four.
72:39That's going to be Neighbors round four for me. Uh you you're talking about a guy who who could be like the 103. next
72:47year. And Burden is a is a good player, but neighbors, man. Neighbors ceiling there is is wild.
72:56Uh I don't know if you're like able to keep neighbors, you know, not as long as burden or whatever, but leaving all that
73:02type of stuff aside, I think that's neighbors.
73:06What do you think about Beck start? I think Beck starts a lot. Uh I think Beck Beck starts in a lot of seasons this
73:12year, mostly at the end of the season.
73:16Um, but not like literally week 18 or something. I think he he plays big chunks of kind of the back half of the
73:22year a lot. Um, there's there's not really an incentive for them to not take a look at Carson Beck.
73:32Uh, it would be strange if they didn't, you know, it would or it would be they're playing way better than they
73:37thought. Um, uh, let me get my last pick here. It is our guy Darno Washington. Right at the top of the stream, we had some cryptic
73:49Darno Washington bull posting. Let me uh get back up here.
73:55Now, I have never heard his name. And leg up has Frith roughly 30 picks ahead of him. I still love the bet. The
74:02monstrous 67 creature who can protect Rogers most will play a lot. And he lined up at fullback the other day.
74:10Well, he's on the squad. Darnell Washington. the final pick of the big eliminator. Uh I hope I hope hope you're happy, Mr. Moves.
74:20Uh all right, I'll just uh recap the team here and then answer some questions before we get over to ADP Chasing, which
74:30I'll be kicking off here in 15 minutes over on the Ship Chasing channel. Hope you join me there. Uh in the meantime,
74:36let's let's take a look at this big eliminator team. This is uh again an interesting format. you have 10 of 12.
74:45Uh and then it finally gets down to a heads up final. Uh if you survive all the way until week 17, $50,000 to first
74:55if you make it there. And by [snorts] making the final, you're uh you're guaranteed the 20K because that's what gets paid out to
75:04second. So pretty fun kind of cash gamey structure. Uh, we've got Drake May and Kyler Murray at quarterback. Got a Kyler
75:13Murray question here we'll answer just in a second. At running back, Jeremiah Love, Quinn Sean Judkins, Jonathan Brooks, Shod White, Chris Rodriguez.
75:24Uh, at running back, the glass eater himself. Then at wide receiver, Jamar Chase, Drake London, Luther Burton, Khalil Shakir, Ryan Florenoi, Calvin
75:34Ridley, and Keenan Allen. and then Dallas Gddard, Jawan Johnson, Daltton Schultz, and Darnell Washington.
75:43Uh, pretty interesting team. Obviously, you're not going to have a ton of correlation in a format that's really about floor. Um, but, you know,
75:53structurally, you can see the four tight ends. Kind of an interesting element here. Start with two receivers in the first two rounds, three receivers in the
76:02first five rounds. Uh so you know fairly receiverheavy and then uh getting up to five running backs in the first 10
76:11rounds but not the first until round three. So you know I think sometimes in this format people really really go running back heavy. Sometimes I really
76:18go running back heavy in this but there are other ways to go as you can see. And then you got Drake May and Kyler Murray.
76:26Two fairly high floor guys when they play. Do we get Kyler Murray playing all season? Kevin says, "I don't see Murray
76:35operating this offense." And they and they don't have the weapons to adapt to his uh I mean, they have the weapons. They
76:44got the weapons, right? Um I don't know. I think when uh potential landing spots for Kyler Murray were
76:54being floated, I I really like Ali Conny's podcast and they were saying they didn't like the fit of of Kyler Murray in this offense. So, I I don't
77:02think you're like totally off base and saying, "Man, this is not the ideal fit."
77:07And it isn't. You know, I think if you were going to just like assign quarterbacks to Kevin Okonnell, the first guy you picked wouldn't be Kyler
77:14Murray. He probably wouldn't be super high on the list. However, I think Kevin Okonnell is a really sharp offensive coach. I think he's going to be be able
77:22to get more out of Murray than uh you know, they were able to last year. In part because he designs good offense and
77:30in part because the weapons are better. You know, you got Justin Jefferson, you have the best wide receiver in the league. Uh and you
77:37got, you know, good other weapons as well. And I think they'll operate with a lean to the pass and play a little bit
77:43more aggressively than we saw the Cardinals operating with Murray. You know, ironically, they they started passing the ball a ton once they benched
77:49him. Uh but yeah, I mean, I think there clearly is floor to Murray, but if it's if it works, I think it could work
77:56really well. I think the ceiling is is like clearly there.
78:01Um, okay. This is a good question.
78:03Please forgive my ignorance, but will your best ball sim generate the same lineups for everyone using it? It seems like it might might push people toward
78:10the same players before others can get to them. So, no, the answer is that it will not generate the same laps for
78:19everyone using it. And we have thought through how to make that not happen because that would be a bad tool to
78:25release publicly if everyone's just kind of drafting the same teams. And the way that works is we sim out the season many
78:32many times and then you're getting a subset of those simulations so that your Sims are going to like players more and
78:40less than other people using the sidekicks. So you have, you know, uh, Shady has talked about how if everyone was using the sidekick, it would be
78:49unlikely that we'd see the exact same team over the course of even the whole tournament because of how much there is
78:56variance built in. You also then have the factor of like, you know, I'm sitting next to Gobbler here. I think he's using the sidekick uh sidekick sub
79:06and, you know, there's the potential for us to start sniping each other on players that the sidekick generally does like, which adds in a little bit of of
79:15variance in another way where I wish I could get Mike Evans, but Gobbler gets him. So then I end up with Luther
79:21Burton, who we also like in the fifth round. So, there's kind of that additional variance where, you know, once there's other people who like your
79:31players, you're not going to get them as much. Um, but of course, uh, you know, I could have a set of Sims that just
79:37straight up prefer Burden to Evans as well. So it is something I think that's like a very very reasonable thing to
79:43think through and it's something that we thought through as well and are out in front of uh how do you justify taking Hunter over
79:56like Dantavian Wixs?
79:58Uh talent.
80:00Talent.
80:02Hunter was uh an incredible route runner in college. Uh despite, you know, kind of having to do a little bit of a a
80:10limited uh role, he was he was great at getting open. Uh and drafted number two overall in part to play wide receiver.
80:20Uh and then his coaches have repeatedly repeatedly and even corrected people, you know, when they said this wasn't going to happen, have said our plan is
80:28for him to play both ways and that's never changed. So, it'll be talent.
80:34Uh, what do you think about the Steelers backfield?
80:39Like Warren, don't love Warren because there does seem to be, you know, a decent amount of uh, you know, hype on
80:47Dowel.
80:49Hype is kind of a strong word, but there's there's been reports of Dowel, you know, kind of being in a true split. So, right now
80:55I'm at 14% Warren and 6% dowel on underdog. So, I I do prefer Warren. That feels like pretty good to me. Um, but
81:05it's hard to have like Warren be a huge part of what I'm doing, but he's the one who catches passes. I think he's
81:12actually pretty good at the goal line.
81:13He's a consistent runner despite being a little bit undersized. You know, he's he's stocky. He's he's built. He's he packs a punch. Stock is not quite the
81:21right word, but you know, kind of the the fire hydrant sort of sort of thing.
81:25So, he can be very effective in short yardage and he's a much better pass catcher than doubt. He's one of the
81:31better pass catching running backs in the league. That was hidden a little bit last year by Gainwell also being a really good pass catcher.
81:38Uh overstacked Burough Chase.
81:42Yeah. Uh Elim, you don't want to be stacking quite as much. Um, I like Malik Willis this season. Your thoughts? I do
81:53think Malik Willis has significant bench risk and I don't have as much confidence that he'll score well because of the weapons in
82:02uh in Miami and also because Malik Willis like really, you know, has struggled at times has been like this isn't an NFL offense kind of kind of
82:11struggles even when he's played well.
82:13It's not like a traditional NFL offense.
82:15So, uh, I I could see him paying off.
82:19He's he's definitely someone that is it kind of requires multiple leaps of faith at a position where you it's not like you're willing like
82:31with Murray, I've just talked about like I'm willing to take on some risk there, but with Murray, it's like this guy has
82:36been an effective and efficient NFL quarterback like in EPA. He was pretty efficient last year in the year he got benched and in the past has been pretty
82:46pretty efficient. Like he can play NFL quarterback. He's not a great NFL quarterback, but he is an NFL quarterback. I'm not 100% sure that
82:55Willis is like a long-term starter in the league. Um like this might be his only year as as like a yes, we are
83:03committed to Malik Willis as our starter. Let's do it, you know, and that might end in him getting benched. So, I
83:09haven't been drafting a ton of them. Um, I think he's probably better an eliminator in a way. Uh, if you're doing
83:15like multiple quarterback, uh, you know, if you got a three quarterback build, I think he could be a part of that because he probably scores
83:22pretty well, like reasonably well in a fairly high floor way because he's going to run, but then he probably gets benched.
83:31Uh, thank you JGFC for for uh for watching.
83:36Appreciate you, man. Uh, what up? What up? I missed the part.
83:43Oh, Purple Yosh come going after going after Baker hard. Uh, [laughter] oh, sorry. This is a while ago. So, you're
83:53uh Purple Yosh rejecting our Baker uh Deshaawn Watson comparison that was floated earlier. Uh, that's fair. That's that's fair. Complimentary to Purple
84:03Yosh. Uh, you're worried about the commanders losing tons. So, I talked about that a little bit earlier. I do think it's bad more for for the passing
84:10game than the running game. Uh but but not good.
84:14Uh not something we like panicked on, but um is something we we talked through and I would say we're a little bit lower
84:21on some of the Washington pieces already. Um but yeah, talked about that a little earlier. What's your quorum exposure?
84:31Let's see. Quorum, I'm at 8%, right?
84:35even with the field.
84:38I'd like to be overweight on Cororum rather than underweight. Uh I think he's a good pick, but uh right now little bit
84:44little bit little bit nothing, I guess. I'm just right at right at the market.
84:51Uh yeah, people getting nervous about Lemon is hilarious. People legitimately aren't aware that he's good. It's insane. I mean,
85:01he might not be good, but he might be really good, right? Like, that's kind of the the reason rookies have tended to be
85:10some of the best picks, rookie wide receivers especially, have tend to be some of the best picks in baseball because I think you kind of get this
85:14floor where he's a first round pick.
85:18He's going to play. He's going to play at some point this season. So, if you can get a price that reflects that like
85:24you don't need a ton of production right away, which we're at now with Lemon. Um, I I'll share this previous draft that I
85:33did before. You can see where Lemon went in the BBM style. This was a BBM. Yeah, BBM 805.
85:40Do you think that you need like 100% a guy to play in week one to draft in the eighth round? Because the Alec Pierce
85:48drafter probably doesn't think that.
85:50Uh Lemon went two picks earlier.
85:54Lemon is is I think less likely to miss week one than Alec Pierce, right? So you're getting the potential for Lemon
86:01to be like the guy you need down the stretch here if he turns into the type of huge hit that we know first round
86:09wide receivers can be. You may be skeptical that Lemon is that guy, and that's fine because he might not be. But
86:16there's a price where you stand to benefit a lot if he's really good and you don't you don't lose that much if
86:25he's if he's okay, right? We've seen Quinton Johnson be a huge bust in the eighth round. Trayon Burks was a huge
86:33bust in the eighth round. Rashad Baitman was a big bust. I think even a little cheaper than this. I'm not saying it's
86:39bulletproof. If he's bad, it's going to hurt. But we've we've seen guys absolutely smash without being superstars. Like Zay Flowers, you know,
86:49not a superstar, just just good. Great pick in the eighth round.
86:55So, yeah, I think Lemon is is an awesome eighth round pick, and it's not going to work every time, but give me give me
87:03this type of kind of macro level bet, I'm going to make it as many times as you're going to let me. Uh, yeah. Sean
87:10Tucker, man, I would love to see him get an opportunity.
87:14Love to see a healthy Pieraw. It's been Yeah, unfortunate to see that that knee injury linger.
87:21Uh, as a Jags fan, I feel the Texans will be better due to Montgomery adding stability and consistently consistency.
87:26I think that their run game was so bad last year. I agree with you. Uh, do you think you get an edge from the
87:36eliminator uh increased? Do you think the edge you get from Eliminator increases in tournaments with different uh layout structures versus standard
87:43flagship turnneys? I think it might uh in the sense that my opponents are probably just playing it like Eliminator and I'm using a tool that's not playing
87:52it like a totally different structure.
87:54So yeah, I think that probably helps.
87:56And then I think for myself, like I've never even really thought about how to play the big eliminator before using the
88:04sidekick to play it because it didn't exist before, at least I'd never played it if it did before the sidekick was
88:10launched. So, um, you know, I think kind of the the the gap between like my ability to play it versus uh using the
88:18sidekick is is pretty wide. uh it's not a tournament I've I've sat down and studied done research on come up with
88:24ideas of how might be best to attack it etc. uh you know where I have done that with BBM and stuff and so
88:33I think that gap is probably wider for myself in eliminator.
88:38Um all right I've got to get out of here. Appreciate everyone watching.
88:43Please like and subscribe. Um and please check out everything we got going on at Legendary Upside. Like I said, we have
88:50the kickstand now. Just 15 bucks a month. Uh I I hope that you know, if you're looking to get into best ball, that that
88:56ends up being a way that uh you know, you're able to kind of get your feet wet with the tools and with our rankings
89:03and, you know, with our articles, which are all included in that kickstand price of of 15 bucks a month, 99 for the year.
89:10Uh an article by Matt Herby is going to be dropping tomorrow. He is scouting wide receiver upside. Uh, and speaking of upside, I am uh, in the early stages,
89:19but working on my legendary running back article, looking at the guys who are going to break fantasy this season in the early rounds of drafts. And my plan
89:28is to write up the running backs as part of a a multiple um multiple articles.
89:35Uh, I'm not going to stop at just round one and two. I'm going to write up through round six. So through Jarian
89:42Price, my plan is to write up those profiles because I think there's a lot of upside available in these early, you
89:49know, fiveish rounds. Uh so my plan is to write up all of the running back profiles uh through Jadarian Price this year. Um
89:58and yeah, excited about that. Hope you check out everything we got going on and hope to check out ADP Chasing which is
90:04about to start over on the Ship Chasing channel. We'll be back here for another Top Guy Tuesday next week and I'll be
90:10back on Thursday with Sam Sherman on the Legup channel for That's Fair. Until then, good luck on your drafts. Thanks for watching.
