0:00Week two fantasy football defensive
0:02streamers for you to use this week and
0:05then a couple of stashes for you to keep
0:07on hold for weeks three and even week
0:10four. I'm Theo Griminger, lead fantasy
0:12analyst right here at Roto Wire. Vegas
0:15can help us out sometimes with these
0:17team totals. looking at team totals,
0:20looking at the way that these games are
0:22set up with the odds, and then taking
0:24the data that we have already from week
0:26one, we can start making very educated
0:29decisions about defensive streamers.
0:31Now, we had some really catastrophic
0:34starts for the highly drafted defenses
0:37this past year, and I certainly was on
0:39the Denver Broncos. Really disappointing
0:42effort. Their offense certainly did not
0:44help them out against the Kansas City
0:46Chiefs. two turnovers, couldn't protect
0:49Bo Knicks in that one. Kansas City,
0:51we're going to talk about in a moment.
0:52The LA Rams, also huge disappointment
0:55for fantasy managers who drafted them
0:57very early. San Francisco really in
1:00control of that game from the jump uh
1:02and put a lot of pressure on that
1:04defense throughout. Brock Pery really a
1:06sensational game. And then the Houston
1:08Texans defense who for the most part was
1:11the number one defense drafted off the
1:13board in most leagues gives up a big
1:16high-scoring total to Josh Allen and the
1:19Buffalo Bills including two 90 plus yard
1:22drives. So we're going to start seeing a
1:25little bit more normaly. We're going to
1:27be able to sort of identify the elite
1:29defenses as we move on throughout the
1:31season. But this is a game where we like
1:34to look at things in a week- toeek
1:35basis. And if we are able to, we love
1:38stashing defenses, especially in deeper
1:41formats like the FFPC and NFC, your
1:4520man roster formats. If I'm able to
1:47stash a defense, sometimes I'm able to
1:50save a ton of FAB the following week.
1:52So, we're going to talk about a couple
1:53of defenses to keep an eye on in week
1:56three. But, a quick little reminder,
1:58Seattle looks elite. Seattle completely
2:01shut down Drake May, forced turnovers.
2:04That's an elite unit. Houston, I think,
2:07will bounce back, but that is a very
2:10tough early season schedule for the
2:12Texans, including a tricky game this
2:14week against the the Cincinnati Bengals.
2:17But that's a defense that you want to
2:19hold on to for sure. New England's
2:21defense stood the test against Seattle.
2:24Really shut them down for for the most
2:25part. Um, really a strong looking front
2:28seven for the Patriots there. We know
2:30Christian Gonzalez in the back. And then
2:32you've got a very interesting
2:35exploitable matchup. The Steelers look
2:38good this past week, but now New England
2:41gets a long period of time, a little bit
2:43of extra rest coming off of that
2:45Wednesday opener. Almost a deacto
2:48bye-week for them to get ready for a
2:50home game against the Steelers. Another
2:53defense that's going to be heavily
2:55rostered, but is in sort of a no-brainer
2:57start is the Philadelphia Eagles. Eagles
3:01won against Washington. The Tennessee
3:03offense has major issues. Philadelphia
3:06is a very strong start. They're going to
3:08be rostered in most of every league. And
3:12then we've got the LA Chargers who have
3:15a chance to get things right with a
3:17doover game against the Las Vegas
3:19Raiders this year. Uh this week, excuse
3:21me. The Raiders have an implied team
3:23total of only like 18 12. So, we saw the
3:27Raiders last year start the year with a
3:29win and then sort of things spiraled
3:31out. Maybe that's sort of part for the
3:33course. Kirk Cousins got the win against
3:35Miami. Miami looks sort of hless. So,
3:38we'll keep those Chargers that as a
3:40defensive option this week, but if you
3:42don't want to use LA, there's plenty of
3:44strong options I'm going to mention, but
3:46I do think when it comes down to it, the
3:48Chargers are a top 12 option this week.
3:51So, looking specifically at the
3:53streamers, really, uh, quickly before we
3:55talk about the defensive streamers and a
3:58couple of defenses we should add, let's
4:00quickly note that this show is brought
4:01to you by Better. If you're watching
4:03football and you want a little more
4:04action on the games, check out Better.
4:07Make picks on your favorite players,
4:09more or less on their stats, or jump
4:11into the Better Sportsbook for spreads,
4:13totals, and money line. It's all in one
4:16app. Go check out Better. Let's talk
4:18about our streaming defensive options
4:20this week. And we're going to look at it
4:22twofold. I'm going to give you the best
4:24defensive streamer specifically for this
4:27week. And then we're going to talk about
4:28a defensive streaming option that is
4:31probably not as good as the first team
4:34I'm mentioning for this week
4:35specifically. But if we look at it as
4:37almost a set it and forget it defense
4:39for the first for the next three weeks,
4:42uh that defense certainly has it. So,
4:44number one defensive streaming option
4:46this week is the San Francisco 49ers and
4:50they are available in 89% of Yahoo
4:54leagues. So, unless you're in like an
4:56FFPC, NFC league where a lot of fantasy
5:00managers were rostering them for the
5:01free look, San Francisco is going to be
5:04available to you on the waiverwire as a
5:06team you can go pick up. They're favored
5:08by almost two touchdowns this week
5:11against the Miami Dolphins. Miami has an
5:14implied team total of only 16. Miami is
5:17in big trouble against this 49ers
5:19defense. 49ers completely shut down Matt
5:23Stafford and the LA Rams. That was like
5:25a shocking result. But Matt Stafford,
5:28this was the lowest point total of any
5:31time since he's been the starting
5:33quarterback of the LA Rams. Just a
5:35shocking shockingly like dominant
5:37performance by the 49ers defense.
5:40There's a lot of quality on the defense
5:41still. Fred Warner, Dre Greenlaw, Nick
5:45Bosa, and this is a defense that I think
5:47is going to put a absolute number on the
5:50Miami Dolphins. So, they are your number
5:52one streaming option this week. Another
5:54streaming option that's available in 64%
5:59of NFC leagues, the Kansas City Chiefs.
6:03And this is a defense that was maybe a
6:05little bit underrated coming into the
6:07year. There are some strong strong uh
6:11players that they were able to add on
6:12defense. Certainly the rookies. Peter
6:14Woods looks like an absolute monster up
6:17front. Clemson defensive tackle that
6:19fell to Kansas City at the end of the
6:21first round, but you've got Peter Woods.
6:24I mean, you certainly have Chris Jones
6:25and all sorts of quality up front, but I
6:28think Kansas City, the youth movement
6:29there is really helping them. And we saw
6:32it on Monday Night Football. Dominant
6:34performance. Kansas City had four sacks.
6:37They had an interception. They had a one
6:39force fumble. Um the Colts are a tricky
6:42matchup. They're a tricky matchup
6:44because Jonathan Taylor looks absolutely
6:46sensational, but I do think the Chiefs
6:48are going to go in there and get the
6:50win. Uh Indianapolis 20 and a half point
6:54total. So, it's a a doable a doable team
6:57total. And of course with with Kansas
6:59City, you know, you've got this really
7:02really strong pass rush. and and with
7:04Kansas City, you've got another game
7:05where they're favored. So, the game's in
7:07Kansas City and Kansas City is nearly a
7:11touchdown favorite. So, its potential to
7:14put a lot of pressure on Daniel Jones in
7:15the second half of the game, potentially
7:17get a lot more sack opportunities, and
7:20we know this is a defense that can turn
7:22people over. So, keep an eye on on these
7:24Kansas City Chiefs. I think they are one
7:26of the best streaming options, and
7:28they're available in more than 50% of
7:31NFC leagues.
7:34Catch every drive, every play, and every
7:36touchdown poolside stadium swim at Circa
7:39Resort and Casino in downtown Las Vegas.
7:41Take it all in from six temperature
7:42controlled pools. Or claim your place in
7:45a lounge chair, daybed, or private
7:46cabana. With a massive 143 ft screen and
7:50immersive audio, you won't just watch
7:52the action, you'll feel it. Make Stadium
7:54Swim at Circa Resort and Casino your
7:56game day ritual. Reserve your spot in
7:58the sun today at circa vegas.com.
8:01Another streaming option, and this is
8:04just lowhanging fruit, and you can sort
8:05of set it and forget it. Anytime you see
8:08the Cleveland Browns, we are going to
8:10consider streaming a defense against
8:12them. We're going to attack Cleveland
8:14nearly every week. There's that Carolina
8:17Cleveland game coming up. I believe
8:19that's a week three game. That's the one
8:21that could maybe put it to the test.
8:22It's in Cleveland. Carolina on the road
8:24after what Chicago just did to them. But
8:26even still, we're fading Deshun Watson.
8:29were fading this offensive line which
8:31looked terrible. Um, and when we get the
8:33Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they're coming off
8:35of a close loss to Cincinnati, a very
8:37frustrating loss where they had a ton of
8:40turnovers, including multiple fumbles by
8:42Baker Mayfield. So, a chance for like a
8:45get it right game for the Bucks. We know
8:46they have quality in the front seven and
8:49this is a no-brainer type uh defensive
8:52stream. The Browns have the lowest
8:55implied team total on the entire board
8:57at only 16. And the the Buccaneers are a
9:02sizable sizable favorite in this one. So
9:05Tampa Bay, don't overthink it. They're
9:07nearly a 9point favorite right now. By
9:11the time this game kicks off, they might
9:13be a plus 9 point favorite. like this is
9:16at like 8 1/2 in most books, but I think
9:19this one could rise as more and more
9:21people uh put money on Tampa Bay. Uh it
9:24feels like a game that could potentially
9:26be a double digit uh spread by the time
9:28we get to game time. Looking at another
9:30defensive streaming option, a get it
9:32right uh game for the Green Bay Packers.
9:36The Packers are available in 93% of NFC
9:41leagues. So, they're very available in a
9:42bunch of leagues here. Minnesota came
9:45back against them last week, but it was
9:47really strong stuff for the first three
9:49quarters of the game. And then Minnesota
9:51scored 22 fourth quarter points. So, an
9:54unbelievably bad finish, but a strong
9:57first three quarters. There's a chance
9:59for Green Bay to get things right. Um,
10:01this week they play against the New York
10:03Jets. And the Jets won the game in they
10:05controlled it completely against sort of
10:07a hapless Tennessee Titans team, but the
10:10Jets only have an implied team total of
10:1320 and a half. This is a little bit
10:15tricky because the game is in Metife
10:17Stadium, but I think it's a potential
10:19getright game for the Green Bay Packers.
10:21We'll get a better idea of of Gino Smith
10:24and these Jets against a team like Green
10:26Bay than we did against really a hapless
10:29Tennessee Titans team.
10:31another potential defensive streaming
10:33option and this is sort of a bet on what
10:35we saw in week one um more so than the
10:39matchup h Houston has a team total an
10:42implied team total of 24 um so it's a
10:45tricky matchup for Cincinnati's defense
10:47on paper but if we look at what
10:49Cincinnati was able to do in week one
10:52four sacks on Baker Mayfield four fumble
10:55recoveries it's a defense that we know
10:58put a lot of effort into adding quality
11:00quality players up front in the off
11:02season and it really showed in week one.
11:05This seems like an opportunistic defense
11:07in Cincinnati with an actual pass rush.
11:10We know about Dexter Lawrence. Um this
11:12is a opportunity I think for Cincinnati
11:14to make a statement game. The Houston
11:17Texans coming off a loss. There's a lot
11:19of pressure on them to go get this win
11:21against the Bengals this week. But I
11:23think it's going to be a very tough
11:25defense. Now looking at games we can
11:28look at for next week if you're able to
11:31add a defense to stash. A couple of
11:33notable games here. The New York Giants
11:36are at home against the Tennessee Titans
11:38next week. So Giants coming off of a win
11:41against the Cowboys. A tough game this
11:44week against the LA Rams, but next week
11:46the New York Giants get a chance to
11:49potentially go 2 and one or if they can
11:51get the win against the Rams 3-0 against
11:54the Titans. That's one we're gonna
11:56circle. I think they're going to affect
11:58Cam Ward in that one. Then the other
12:01game to keep an eye on is if Green Bay
12:04delivers this week against the Jets,
12:06then we have a ton of confidence against
12:08them next week against Atlanta. That's
12:10going to be a short week. So Green Bay
12:12gets a home game against the Atlanta
12:15Falcons in week three. So if you pick up
12:17the Packers, consider using them this
12:20week against the Jets. And then if we
12:22get another Cooper Rush start, that's a
12:25game wi with despite the quality of
12:26Bejian Robinson, we're going to be
12:28streaming against the Atlanta Falcons
12:30with Cooper Rush. So keep an eye on
12:32Green Bay potentially giving you two
12:34starts in a row. But really, the defense
12:36that we want to circle in a major way is
12:40the Kansas City Chiefs because we talked
12:42about how good they were against Bo
12:44Knicks, holding the Denver Broncos to
12:46like 175, excuse me, 176 total yards and
12:51only nine first downs. And it was
12:54pressuring Bo Knicks on 45.8% of
12:57dropbacks. So elite stats in terms of a
13:00very good offensive line in Denver and a
13:03quarterback who really was affected in
13:05in Bo Knicks and there was a statement
13:08game from the Chiefs and I think that
13:09the momentum will continue this week
13:11against the Colts. We talked about the
13:13Colts being sort of a tricky matchup
13:15because of the quality of their run game
13:17and how Jonathan Taylor looks like one
13:19of the best running backs in football.
13:21But when we look at Kansas City, they're
13:23almost a must add because if you have
13:26the space on your roster to handle them
13:28and hold them, the Chiefs get to play
13:31Miami in week three and then the Chiefs
13:34get to play Vegas in week four. So,
13:37Indianapolis in week two, Miami in week
13:41three, Vegas in week four. The Kansas
13:43City Chiefs already look like one of the
13:45most underrated defenses available to
13:47fantasy managers and a chance that
13:49they're a set it and forget it defense
13:50for the first four weeks of the season.
13:53Really strong stuff from Kansas City.
