Lemon was the Eagles' No. 20 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and is slotting in next to DeVonta Smith. Despite a modest preseason (three receptions for three yards and a dropped pass), the source notes preseason performance alone should not cause panic, citing Ja'Marr Chase's rookie preseason struggles as precedent. Lemon is coming off an outstanding final year in college. His Week 1 matchup against the Commanders is favorable; Washington allowed the second-most expected points added (EPA) on passing plays in 2025 and did not improve its pass defense convincingly this offseason. The source recommends starting him.
PositiveBreakoutSep 11, 2026
The source predicts Makai Lemon will have the best rookie debut in fantasy. Despite dealing with a hamstring injury in training camp and limited preseason production, Lemon is listed as a starter for the Eagles in Week 1 and faces the Washington Commanders—one of the worst pass defenses in 2025 and missing standout corner Trey Amos. While he'll be the secondary target behind DeVonta Smith, the weak opposing defense should provide plenty of target opportunities.

Lemon, the Eagles' pick at 20th overall and hopefully heir to A.J. Brown, has remained sidelined at practice for two weeks due to a lingering hamstring injury. The source hates soft tissue issues in August. Missing this much of training camp and the preseason is particularly concerning for a rookie wide receiver, as they usually take longer to acclimate and produce for fantasy and this is only going to extend that timeline. At ADP 119.6 (↓ 10.9), Lemon is ranked as WR65 by the source, which makes him essentially undraftable at his current ADP of WR46. It's not impossible that he rights the ship and ends up a huge value (especially with DeVonta Smith also banged up), but as of right now, the source would rather take the shot on one of the several rookie wideouts with fewer red flags, like De'Zhaun Stribling, Ja'Kobi Lane or KC Concepcion.

Makai Lemon has fallen 7.5 spots in ADP, primarily due to a lingering hamstring injury. He has missed several practices in a crucial window of the offseason, and soft-tissue injuries at this time of year are concerning. The chances that Lemon misses time, starts slow and/or re-aggravates the injury throughout the year are all increasingly high. Given the opportunity in Philadelphia with A.J. Brown gone and DeVonta Smith also dealing with a hamstring injury, as well as Lemon's draft capital (20th overall, often mocked higher), the rookie clearly has fantasy upside. Were he healthy and thriving in camp amid Smith's absence, he might be rising up draft boards. But for now, Lemon's ADP arrow will likely remain red until he gets healthy.
