PositiveSleeperAug 17, 2026
Smith is a true sleeper after a dismal 2024 with the Raiders, but his track record supports a bounce-back case. In 2022 with Seattle, he finished sixth in passing points, was top-eight in fppg (18.7), eighth in passing yards, fourth in passing touchdowns, and first in completion percentage. Though 2023 was a struggle (QB24, 15.4 fppg) due to offensive line injuries, his 2024 numbers bounced back to top-five in passing yards and completion percentage (QB17 on a per-game basis, 15.9 fppg) with eight top-12 weekly performances, including six in the first half. Now with the Jets, he gets a fresh start in an offense with solid depth at every position and an offensive line with several highly drafted blockers. Recapturing at least some of his past fantasy success is well within his range of outcomes.

Smith is returning to the Jets after a disastrous 2025 Raiders tenure in which he led the league in interceptions (17) and sacks taken (55), barely averaged 200 yards passing per game, and posted worse EPA per play than Justin Fields. His skill corps is marginally better than Vegas but still dysfunctional; pairing him with new OC Frank Reich—described as a 'long-faded asset coming off their worst work yet'—offers little hope for offensive improvement.
