0:00Drafting in the FFPC Main Event from the 110.
0:03That's what we're doing today on The Long View.
0:05I'm Ben Gretch. You can find the Stealing Signals newsletter at bengretch.substack.com.
0:09With me, as always, is Jakob Sanderson. You can find the Thinking About Thinking newsletter at jacobsanderson.substack.com.
0:14And, Jakob, we're kind of breaking from some of the things we talked about.
0:18We didn't really have a great show topic for today.
0:21We've told all the Patreon people we'd have our drafts behind the paywall, but we are right before the last real draft weekend.
0:28And we figured, hey, we'll just do a draft as our show this week for everybody.
0:33All of our listeners that we've enjoyed doing shows for these last couple of weeks are people that we also want to listen to us do a draft.
0:42That sounds fun. So we are going to do one in front of the paywall as our main show this week.
0:48We are signed up for the FFPC Main Event.
0:51That draft starts in a half an hour. In 29 minutes, we are giving ourselves that much time to do a draft.
0:57We are going to take our time to try to get through the short view this week, which there's a ton of stuff since we last talked.
1:06I was surprised at how much stuff you had on here, but I guess I didn't realize the cut down to 53
1:12and all that stuff happened since we last talked.
1:15We'll try to burn through it. If we don't, we have a deadline.
1:19The draft's going to start at some point. We'll get into that.
1:23for those of you who have listened to me with some of my other drafts or read me in the newsletter I
1:29am extremely tilted to be picking from the 10 for I think maybe this is only the second time from the 10
1:36but I've picked from the 8 or later in 5 of my 7 so now 6 of my 8 you and I
1:43had the 5 last time so at least you and I get a pick from the opposite of you know from 1
1:49in the early half 1 in the late half but my 5 with you was the only time I've gotten in the
1:56first half in the first 7 picks other than 1 other time I also got the 5 I have not gotten a
2:03pick in the top 4 through 8 main events it's driving me a little bit nuts so I built a lot of
2:09teams in this back range I'll certainly be open to a lot of the directions you want to go I know you've
2:16built more in the front part of drafts but yeah before we jump into that really the middle section of drafts and
2:22some in the late I mean this is my 20th FFPC draft if I'm including main events and big gorillas and some
2:29that I've done solo some that I've done with ship chasers some with otherwise I have not yet gotten the 101 it's
2:36really annoying and I've gotten two top 3 picks out of those 20 so it's been like predominantly it's been the 4
2:42the 5 and the 6 that I keep drafting at but it's also been some 9s some 10s some 8s so it's
2:49not so you're saying it can get worse for me as I ramp up my volume here yeah I mean and it's
2:56even affecting my best ball season like I'm I have 148 of my 150 best ball mania teams drafted and I'm sitting
3:02on 4% Jameer Gibbs that doesn't feel good that's obviously not on purpose and that includes twice where Bijan Robinson was drafted
3:09ahead of Gibbs and I got him at the 102 so I if everyone was drafting correctly at the 101 I would
3:16have like 2% Jameer Gibbs that's crazy I think I've gotten 3 101s or 4 101s in like 148 drafts in 148
3:22drafts it's horrible and it's a lot of times I don't even agree with the 101 or I'm ambivalent like there's been
3:29years where I'm like I'll take the 101 because that's what everyone else is doing and it's fine but I don't see
3:36a difference like last year with Chase was that I was like I think Chase is a fine 101 I'm not passing
3:42on him but I don't feel like he's like I need the 101 but this year I really do I think he
3:49is like the clear cut 101 he's one of the most decisive 101s and now I need to root for his failure
3:56because I don't get him anywhere anyway I just ate 3 minutes of our time complaining I think I ate the first
4:0290 seconds of that and then you had the other 90 but we agree about Gibbs we've talked about it before about
4:09how dynamic this season could be for him it's not great as analysts to believe that and not be able to actually
4:16play it so I actually have an auction tonight I have signed up for an auction so I can go bid on
4:22Gibbs and I'm going to make sure I have him I'm going to have to find like I'm going to like I
4:29don't know I'm going to do something irresponsible like empty out my wealth simple account just so I can enter like some
4:36high stakes auction league so I can spend whatever I need to spend on Shamir Gibbs it's getting ridiculous anyways short view
4:42yeah so obviously the big ticket item that's happened since we last talked although you've probably heard each of us address it
4:49in our newsletters or on other shows is the Jacob stuff we're going to save that for the end so that we
4:56can try and get through other stuff so let's go through some of the cut down day takeaways both of us wrote
5:02up some of the takeaways from cut down day you wrote it at much greater length and I read through your great
5:09piece on there some of the top ones for me would be Justin Jolie the fifth round interesting tight end pick he
5:16was waived by the Broncos was claimed by the Dolphins the Giants kept all four of their running backs on the roster
5:22a lot of ambiguity on how that backfield is going to play out Sean Tucker with the pay cut was something we
5:29were kind of talking through whether he was going to be on the roster if you listened to our last main event
5:35draft that was on our premium Patreon episode we were discussing whether or not Tucker would keep the job and we kind
5:42of found out almost immediately after the episode ended but the biggest one to me is Emmitt Johnson clearly I think won
5:49the RB2 job maybe depending on your view of Brashard Smith with Amari Di Mercado getting cut and then actually going over
5:55to the Dallas Cowboys to replace Jaden Blue how aggressively are you moving Emmitt Johnson up the board when you're looking at
6:02your final draft this season as a late riser yeah I did I did preseason stealing signals week three and wrote down
6:09every you wrote up a bunch of stuff and included some small thoughts on some of the cut down stuff that was
6:15trickling in because I was writing that Sunday and then Monday morning I got up and I just was like screw this
6:22I'm going team by team and I'm going to write about every every team in every division and look at all their
6:2953 man rosters and what it meant and what was surprising and what stood out to me because obviously I was spending
6:35a lot of time with those rosters going through the projection process and all these things and I had a bunch of
6:42you know signal and notes and things in my you know summaries of signal in my write up I did say that
6:49the Emmitt Johnson one was the biggest riser of cut down day for me I've moved him up considerably I think I
6:55mean he still seems I think a little bit underpriced relative to that when I actually get into some of these rooms
7:02and I think I kind of maybe knocked him back down a little just to be like all right I don't have
7:09to pay these prices but I mean he looked awesome in the preseason he's got a great profile I know you loved
7:15him everyone I've talked to that does prospect stuff more than I do loved him Siegel was way in on him even
7:22before he was a Kansas City draftee Siegel famously a Chiefs fan but he was pumped when they got him because he
7:29already wanted him I remember texting him during the draft being like oh the Chiefs got Emma Johnson because that was like
7:35his guy in the late rounds he really liked the profile and he looked great he looked apart in the preseason and
7:42I'm surprised they cut Demercado they gave him 550 fully 550k fully guaranteed that's not an amount that you can't cut but
7:49it's also an amount that you give a veteran running back that you're gonna have on the team you don't usually I
7:55mean teams don't usually like a lot of the other veterans didn't get more than a lot more than 1 or 2
8:02million guaranteed like Rashad White got less than that Isaiah Pacheco got less than that I think Chris Rodriguez got more I'm
8:09trying to think there were some a few others that would I think surprise people that it was like it's under 2
8:15million guaranteed so to get a half million guaranteed Demercado for the player that he is it's not nothing and the Chiefs
8:22were like look we are satisfied enough with the guy that we got in the draft Emmitt Johnson and then how he
8:29performed because obviously the draft comes after they paid that contract but then how he performed throughout the process they did play
8:35Demercado ahead of him in the second preseason game they shuffled every game we talked about this they did this a couple
8:42years ago when they had Carson Steele and stuff they played Demercado a little bit ahead of him in the second preseason
8:48game it fooled me a little bit the third preseason game they did play Emmitt Johnson ahead of Demercado again was pretty
8:55substantial I think it's very positive for Rashard Smith too and I moved him up as well and I think he's a
9:02really intriguing very late target now if he gets like a Jarek McKinnon role they threw to him more than 30% targets
9:08per outrun last year he only ran like 100 routes but to get 35 targets on 100 routes is like they won
9:15the ball in his hands with intent and he looked explosive this preseason as well he's got a huge athletic profile I
9:22think they were just like look we got enough talent with Emma Johnson and Rashard Smith behind Ken Walker we have enough
9:28talent we don't need Emory DeMarcado clogging it up but that's what the Chiefs always do is they have these guys clog
9:35things up I thought they were going to keep DeMarcado the fact that they did not is extremely bullish in my opinion
9:42and now DeMarcado is on another team it's not like he's on waivers on the practice squad or some way that they
9:48could go acquire him if Ken Walker got hurt I mean I think if Ken Walker really strong double digit round running
9:55back target now yeah I agree big time with Emmett I've been drafting him pretty aggressively all season but I'm now even
10:02way more encouraged I'm really curious what do you think that the breakdown looks like early in the season because the one
10:08thing that DeMarcado has done well and has kind of proven to do well at the NFL level is the pass protection
10:15like the third and long the two minute drill stuff that's kind of the natural role that you would give to another
10:22running back who's sharing time with Ken Walker like that's never really been Ken Walker specialty so to me it was kind
10:28of like the way I was envisioning the backfield being most likely was okay Ken Walker is going to play basically everything
10:35and then DeMarcado is going to play some of the strict passing down stuff but I thought Emmett Johnson had a pretty
10:42good chance to then be like the early down backup kind of like how you know it is in Buffalo where like
10:48Ty Johnson has his own role if James Cook went down Ty Johnson's role increases but probably Ray Davis gets more of
10:55the James Cook stuff than Ty Johnson gets I'm curious how you would now expect like are they going to play a
11:02rookie on some of the pass down stuff are they going to play like a converted wide receiver in some of that
11:08stuff or is it just going to be like all Walker or is Walker going to play that stuff but then Emmett
11:15play some of the early downs like I'm not really sure but I'm curious if you have a particular read on that
11:22I think the Bills point was an interesting one for Johnson for me to have a standalone role I think it's going
11:28to have to come over time I did move Walker up on this and think we had talked about how that within
11:35that tier I was back and forth with a veteran and gone into the season with Rashard Smith who they didn't want
11:42to play a lot last year there's a reason they were limiting him and a rookie so I think yeah it's a
11:48really big signal for Walker I think it's a huge signal for Emmett Johnson and I think it's positive for Rashard Smith
11:55and I have all three of them as targets in my rankings because I think where they not practicing recently they haven't
12:02said what the injury is they have said they're hopeful for week one Keaton Mitchell has had like a mysterious injury that
12:08we're not even sure what it is he hasn't been practicing there was speculation that he might even start on short term
12:15IR by some like Chargers media people that did not happen they also cut down to three running backs so I think
12:21that's a could potentially miss time Isaiah Pacheco was put on short term IR they're four now three other backups Jacob sailors
12:28is you know Dan Campbell had said they're confident with him as their RB2 and say on Vockey plays on special teams
12:35and however this all works out they only kept four receivers which I got really excited about the Jameson Williams stuff there's
12:41no other team in the league when I went through that kept four receivers and there were some teams that kept five
12:48and if I'm not mistaken I think they only kept four tight ends also or maybe only three and only four receivers
12:55so it's like I don't Jameson Williams is going to play every single town he's going to run a ton of routes
13:01and obviously Aminrah is going to and it sounds like Laporte is pretty healthy and this is going to be that concentrated
13:08offense we there's all stuff about Brian Robinson is going to take touchdowns from Bijan I don't think people realize or are
13:15accounting for the fact that a lot of these coaches are going to play their running backs every down because the running
13:21back health has been better and he basically didn't realize how much they played McCaffrey last year and he didn't intend to
13:28play him that much but also they didn't want to take him off the field because their passing game revolved around their
13:35running back and if you're passing game and you don't want to tip your hand when you take them off you can't
13:41run the same passing concepts and so just pre pre breaking the huddle by making that substitution with the personnel package on
13:48the field the defense is going to put in more run based players and things like that they're to be aware hey
13:55Brian Robinson is on the field we're going to back in ADP I'm pretty confident the long down and distance stuff a
14:01couple of the other situations and some of the teams it's two guys like the Patriots it's all Ramondre and Travion Henderson
14:08they cut every other running back that was in camp they traded for Corey Kiner from the Cardinals camp to add some
14:15depth probably special teams whatever but it's going to be every touch is going to be Stevenson or Henderson where it's going
14:21to be Rico and Warren and I don't know exactly what the split is going to be and if either of them
14:28go down the other one is going to get 95% snap share they traded Caleb Johnson it's a great one they traded
14:35Caleb Johnson because they're not worried about depth behind it a lot of these teams are tipping their hand on that they
14:41wasn't even a running back in this process he's a seventh round rookie that did running back wide receiver like slash things
14:48and they kept the full back another rookie a fifth rounder they're going to play Warren and Dowdle every down so yeah
14:55we're going to see this type of concentration around the league a lot because they don't want to make these substitutions and
15:01get these two so anyway that's the Pacheco thing is like well who's the handcuff I mean I don't even know it'll
15:08be fascinating to see their offense would change so fundamentally I mean I think they'd have to throw a ton and I
15:15think they'd be capable of it because golf is pretty solid and they have three great receiving weapons I mean it he's
15:21under 200 pounds he ran a 466 he wasn't even over 5 yards per carry in the UFL I don't know I'm
15:28dubious that this is a player but anyhow that's the Pacheco stuff a couple more quick ones Trevion Henderson has not yet
15:34returned to practice still optimism apparently that's not something that's serious are going to bleed into week one the Saints backfield is
15:41pretty fascinating Devin Neal was placed on season ending IR Alvin Kamara was not placed on short term IR I thought you
15:48noted very wisely that they were already using up short term IR slots and so it's a little bit harder to tell
15:54whether Kamara is in fact going to be back before week four or not based on him not being placed on short
16:01time you know there's been a lot of optimism about Mike Washington there was the story of Clint Kubiak standing on the
16:08table for Mike Washington in the draft room that came out recently Ian Rappaport was saying that Washington is going to be
16:14a real thing this year and not just in real life is going to be a thing in fantasy how are you
16:21approaching the Ashton Gentty Mike Washington split and specifically like we're going to be on the clock at 203 is Gentty a
16:28consideration there would he be a consideration further into round two he's definitely consideration later into round two for me I it's
16:34pretty unlikely in my mind that Washington is really going to take a lot of work from a healthy Gentty and I
16:41do think everything about the ankle has been incredibly positive about Gentty now the way this has gone I would circle back
16:48on my own discussion and commentary from our last couple shows where I felt that Gentty was going to be a one
16:54two turn guy by Labor Day I was just in a draft last night where he went at the one two turn
17:01but it seems like he's going to sit in the he is a good role it's about what you can do with
17:08it and how good of a player you are so compared to somebody like Chase Brown or something like Gentty is a
17:14better long view profile I love Chase Brown too and I ahead of the wide receivers so yeah 203 it's hard to
17:21imagine him being my highest ranked player if we just want to take him anyway I reason why some people were fading
17:28Gentty even when they assumed he was going to get a 90% workload is that he's on the Raiders and I'm pretty
17:34optimistic about Clint Kubiak about this offensive line improving I'm still dubious that this is going to be one of the league's
17:41most valuable backfields and I don't know what even in the most bullish case for Mike Washington it might be annoying if
17:48you drafted Ashton Gentty in the second round I don't see a scenario in which you're starting like a probably early down
17:54like trap back it's Blake Corham but in a worse offense right exactly it's Blake Corham and before Corham like a much
18:01worse profile than like whatever early in the year last year or he was kind of doing it in 20 no last
18:08year was the year where he wasn't playing at all into a breather because he's a rusher but he's unknown and he
18:14would have a high rate of touches per snap you get a couple design like screens and stuff to get him in
18:21space and then I also don't think the actual rate of touches per snap or whatever will be quite as high as
18:28it was for Pollard that's like the ceiling case if you said 7 to 12 to 13 carries and sometimes efficient carries
18:34but it's like 8 for 53 rushing with no receiving in week 3 13 for 58 which is 4.5 yards per carry
18:41in week 9 13 for 56 the next week but that's 5.6 5.8 points in PPR and Kyron Williams had a 250
18:47point season alongside this and I think this is probably more than we expect from Washington which I definitely do I agree
18:54with that analysis for sure I'm going to move quickly we got four minutes before the draft starts we're to hit at
19:01least one more point here we've been pretty efficient I'm I'm yeah I guess it's better when you put us on a
19:07literal timer I want to talk about the Carolina Odd that you're really into Caleb Johnson, so we will have to talk
19:14about that because I don't know that I'm quite as into it, but we'll talk about that during the draft.
19:20Yeah, so Carolina Chuba Hubbard is back practicing, and then notably, Jonathan Brooks is not.
19:25He's working on the side field. He's dealing with soreness.
19:28I don't know if you saw this this morning, but his, I don't know if it was his girlfriend or his wife,
19:34but a compatriot of Jonathan Brooks said on Twitter that it's not knee soreness.
19:39I don't know if you could take that as a certain source, but it's what was on Twitter.
19:44That's great to hear. Yeah, I mean, I'm not gonna lie.
19:47I thought it was knee. Look, I don't know.
19:50I'm just saying what I saw on Twitter from a person who apparently is within the Jonathan Brooks universe.
19:56I could be reporting fake news. That's all I got, but- No, that's what you're here for.
20:01You're more plugged in than me. I need to know these backroom- I mean, I might be plugged into things that are straight up not real.
20:09Like, I have no idea. Yeah, but like, you're not an idiot.
20:12I'm gonna guess that you're at least like 70% likely to be finding truth to this.
20:17Oh my God. So, yeah, I'm curious like how- I don't know if I was- I got got the other day.
20:24I didn't tell you this, but there was- Did you get got by the Cyrus Allen thing?
20:29I did. I moved him down my list. I was about to jump on a pod and I moved him down.
20:35And then I was like, wait, this wasn't real.
20:38But I was making so much fun of my buddy Tom, who I podcast with on Dynasty Points because he got completely got by that.
20:45And I was like, get it together, man. Like, come on.
20:49I didn't say it on the pod. I didn't bring it up anywhere.
20:53I just, I did change. The only way I got got was I changed my rankings and I had to write about
20:59it because there's a change log in my rankings tool.
21:02And so I was like, God, I was doing a rankings update yesterday.
21:06And I was like, I got a note that for about an hour, I had moved Cyrus Allen like 20 spots down my ranks.
21:14I was like, he's obviously going to be on the practice squad.
21:17There was a report that he got cut. It's like, that's a surprise.
21:21Well, it wasn't a report. But he's going to be back on the practice squad.
21:26Sorry. You're sorry. It was definitely not a report.
21:28It was not a report. But it got, so this is the thing.
21:32Twitter is now forcing you onto, or whatever, X, whatever we want to call it.
21:37It's forcing you onto the for you tab. I've always set my settings to not be on the for you tab, but it's like demanding that you start.
21:45Every time I open the app, I'm on the for you tab and I start reading something.
21:51I'm like, I don't follow this person. I don't care about this tweet.
21:54It just has a bunch of responses. And that one I saw via a quote tweet that also had a bunch of interactions.
22:01And then I literally was getting on a pod and I was like, oh crap, I better update the ranks real quick in case somebody's drafting.
22:09It was like in the afternoon, but I was like, somebody could be drafting this afternoon.
22:14And anyway, I got got, I got got. I was annoyed.
22:17Well, I'm proud. I'm proud of you for admitting that.
22:20It's, you know, exactly. Blame Twitter. Blame Twitter. Are you, where are you at on?
22:25Where are you at on Brooks right now? Do you ever go on, before, before I answer a real question, cause we've done so well.
22:33Do you ever go on the for you tab?
22:35I have no interest for the for you tab.
22:38I want to see the people. Really? Yeah. Yeah.
22:41Wow. That's why your brain's so rotten. I live on the for you tab.
22:45Yeah, exactly. That's why I'm into Caleb Johnson. I'm spending my time on the for you tab.
22:50Do you see that photo of him like hugging?
22:53Did you see him big boying Marshawn Lloyd? He had like his arm around him.
22:57Like he was his son. I mean, come on.
23:00Undraftable. No, who's, who's undraftable. Caleb, the guy. No, no, very draftable.
23:04There was, there was a, there was a photo of the way back in on Caleb Johnson.
23:09This is disaster for, for your, yeah, it's going to be, it's going to really, it's going to really compromise our round 16 of our draft today.
23:17God, we did the spike. Dude, we did the 20.
23:20We did, we did the spike draft yesterday, which we're going to start in like 10 seconds.
23:25So I guess we're not getting a job at the Brooks, but maybe we'll get to him when, when we're on the clock about it as we go.
23:34So we did the spike draft yesterday on ship chasing, which was the, the original idea of the spike draft was that,
23:40well, as you very well know, because you were on ship chasing for years, we draft all these teams together.
23:46Sometimes there's certain players that you really want and you keep losing votes on.
23:51And so you don't get them as often as you want to get them.
23:55And the idea was we'll all draft against each other.
23:58And it's our chance to make sure we get all of our guys.
24:02Some people did that. And other people just took other people's guys in a way to be, to be rude for content
24:08purposes in a draft that cost us like two K each anyways.
24:12And Davis took Caleb Johnson at around 14, which sent me into like an absolute spiral.
24:17That's amazing. That's really good content. I mean, yeah.
24:20Say what you will, but it's great content. Pete, Pete went like on a run where he went Matthew golden right before me, Xavier worthy right before Davis.
24:28And then Keaton missile right before Davis again. And he was like, I mean the, it started right at the one, two turn.
24:35Cause Pat was at the 12 Davis at the 10 and Davis.
24:39Um, has the last time we all drafted at the 12.
24:42He really wants to take Ken Walker and me and Pat strong armed him into a wide receiver, wide receiver start.
24:48And then this time Pat goes up at the, at the 12 takes Ken Walker.
24:53He doesn't come back to Davis. It was so good.
24:56Dude. one of you guys is going to win the whole thing.
25:00This is how Sam Sherman won the, whatever it was 1 million or 1.5 or whatever it was.
25:05Cause I've never seen anyone be more down on a player than Sam Sherman was on JSN.
25:10And then he decided to draft him and goes ahead and wins the entire BBM.
25:15So, uh, I think that's the way you do it.
25:18You draft guys that you just, you want to get some exposure to, even though you're, you know, it's always your, your
25:24friends that are talking them up and you don't even buy into somebody, somebody like probably Caleb Johnson is going to hit
25:31and Davis is going to win the whole thing.
25:34We haven't talked about this draft at all. So we're not at all.
25:38We're going to be on the clock soon. Um, we're going to be at the one 10 for audio listeners.
25:44Uh, the first seven picks have come off the board and those have been Jameer Gibbs, Brock Bowers, early pull on Brock
25:50Bowers at number two, then Bijon, then chase, then Amon, raw, then JSN, then Taylor.
25:55Uh, at eight. Yeah. We can talk freely cause we're, we're pre-recording this.
25:59So Puka is there. CMC is there. Both of those would be huge followers to the 10.
26:04I assume they both go here, but if they don't, there goes Puka.
26:08Puka goes eight. And, um, who's picking at nine, Ben?
26:11I've gotten the eight a bunch and have never gotten a Puka Nakua there.
26:15And I've never gotten a top four in case I haven't made that clear.
26:19Why don't you tell the listeners who's drafting right now?
26:22I will. I will. Yeah. Um, my stealing bananas, uh, co-manager, Sean, Sean Siegel is picking in the nine here.
26:29He, we get our, our, our, um, draft slots emailed to us.
26:32Once the, for people who don't know the process of, of FFPC, once the draft fills, the draft slots are emailed out
26:39and that we get them emailed out, uh, you know, uh, an hour and a half ago or so.
26:45And we see that we got the 10 and Sean Siegel's in the nine and I, he, okay, we're on the clock.
26:51We'll tell the story in a second. So Sean just took CMC, which means building a CMC team.
26:57That's hilarious. Sucks. So that's, so who would you have here?
27:00I I'm like, lamb is my highest rank, but I'm, quite ambivalent between him, Jefferson Walker, even Trey McBride.
27:06Who do you like the most? I mean, it's Walker, but I've taken him in multiple mains already.
27:11I don't have to take Walker here. Um, I could be Walker.
27:15It could be lamb. I've taken lamb and multiple means too, though.
27:18So I, I really don't have a strong lean there.
27:21Is there anyone? Have you, is there anyone you haven't taken a bunch of yet that you'd like, like, would you want to know team or something?
27:30I've been in this area so much. I think, I think it's Walker structurally, unless you really want to do lamb.
27:36Do you want to do lamb? No, Walker's fine by me.
27:39I'm good with that. Let's do Walker. We were just talking about the, um, I, I think Sean actually was telling me
27:46he's a little bit more concerned about Walker because he's so high on Emmett Johnson and the way that could play out over time.
27:53And like Walker's workload could, could be damaged. I think it's an interesting take that I, that I don't necessarily agree with.
28:00I don't agree with that. I, I, I love Johnson as a contingent play.
28:04Like, I think he has the type of skillset that would make him a smash if Walker went down.
28:10I don't think he's like good enough to be a threat to Walker immediately as a day three rookie.
28:16Personally, I would be like, maybe if Walker missed a month and Johnson played great in the Nate, they don't reinstall Walker to the same role.
28:23Like at that point, you're already, you're, you're already in a bad spot.
28:27Um, like I think from the jump, Walker's just going to play a ton.
28:32So behind us, Chase Brown goes back anyway, cook goes right.
28:35I'm not super into, okay. Barkley goes. So I was going to say Jefferson, but I'm, we won't be a worry there.
28:42I have a lot of them. I already have him in three of my other seven mains.
28:47So the part of why I was saying Walker was, I did kind of want to get.
28:52Jefferson. All come back. So my vote personally would be lamb.
28:55And a big reason for that is that I really dislike most of the running backs and receivers at five, six.
29:02So I probably prefer the two V two of lamb plus a tight end in that range.
29:07Who's a tight ends and ride fan, fan and craft, Laporta, Kittle.
29:10Okay. Are you good? I don't, I don't love those guys, but it's a fair, it's a fair point.
29:16I don't. Yeah. I mean, I think we could find a tight end.
29:20We're not getting JMO five, 10 with Sean in front of us.
29:24That's for sure. Well, I think, um, I think we may, I think we may.
29:28That's so that we're not supposed to obviously. So I texted Sean.
29:32I was like, what, what happened? So the, the fun thing about this, I mean, I ultimately, Sean and I were like,
29:38like we have to just draft our own teams.
29:41But one of the things I draft with Sean a lot, one of the things that, um, he'll do sometimes, like, I
29:48think this is his first solo mate, because I think all of the mains he's done so far have been with me.
29:55He'll sometimes sign up and then text me and be like, Hey, I signed up for the blank, blank time slot.
30:01Do you want to do it? And I think he knew I was available this afternoon.
30:06So I think he signed up for this draft thinking he'd be drafting it with me potentially.
30:11Um, or if I couldn't, he would draft it solo, but especially because we haven't gotten any of the early draft slots.
30:18So one of the things he did tell me, he was like, if we got the one-on-one, yeah, I was going to text you.
30:25Like you would be like, he hadn't seen the, he got the one-on-one, you'd be drafting with him and I'd be drafting my own team.
30:32I would be grudging you that he hadn't seen the slots yet.
30:36When he first responded, he goes, Oh no, if I get the one-on-one, you're going to be blocked out.
30:42I was like, you didn't get the one-on-one. You got the one-on-one.
30:45Like we keep getting, if he got, if he got the one-on-one, I know what was happening.
30:50And it's, uh, Ben's texting me saying, Hey, like let's reschedule this plan.
30:54Anyway, have fun at the one 10 on your own.
30:57So it was just a mix up, a miscommunication.
31:00We did, uh, alert the FFPC. There's not any collusion or anything going on, but, um, Sean, Sean did say he's going
31:07to draft a fun team and do it. He likes to draft kind of quirky teams.
31:12Sometimes he and I have had a couple of little disagreements on some last drafts and you're into some players that, you
31:18know, I told him I'm going to let Jacob steer it a little bit more.
31:23You're into some players that, uh, like maybe he's not as into, or he and I wouldn't necessarily be as likely to draft.
31:30It's funny. Cause you and him have some guys that you both like, like he wanted me to take Marvin Harrison in a draft the other day.
31:38And I was like, he doesn't, I don't think necessarily love Marvin Harrison, but based on where you're at that six, seven,
31:45I think of it as the, you said five, six, I think out of the six, seven range, but I agree with you.
31:52There's a tier that breaks off and it gets really cloudy through the sixth round.
31:56When all those tight, it really, the wide receivers end at a point in the fifth, and then it's all tight ends around the five, six turn.
32:04And then those tight ends go off. And when you are later in the sixth, and then potentially early in the seventh,
32:11we ran into this with our last draft, the one that we did in the Patreon.
32:16And it's not the running back dead zone. It's not the receiver dead zone.
32:20It's not the, it's just the everything dead zone.
32:23It's just the, that's right. The, the draft dead zone where like, you feel like the receiver you're drafting in the seven
32:29Oh two is like, no different than the receiver you draft in round 10.
32:34But then you're like, what else am I going to do?
32:37Like, am I going to pull a quarterback up?
32:40Like, am I taking a tight end? Who's the same as the tight ends I'm drafting in three rounds?
32:45Am I drafting a running back? It's yeah, it's just, I don't know.
32:49It's so flat. We've talked about it, but it's so flat.
32:53But yeah, you were saying the Jamison thing, um, you know, obviously getting, getting lined up right next to Sean, who I
32:59draft with all the time is a little bit odd where, you know, the, I was super worried that people would be like collusion.
33:07And then you were like, dude, we just did a spike draft.
33:10Four of us drafted against each other on stream together.
33:13And it's like, all right. I mean, like obviously, um, you know, is, is what it is.
33:18We got assigned these spots and it was actually, uh, completely unplanned and, uh, is what it is.
33:24But the comment I made about, we might get, we might get Jamo is, I mean, I don't think he falls all
33:31the way to five, 10, but I think if he did, Sean's the kind of person he's, he's said, he's going to
33:37probably take some other guys and some quirky guys that he doesn't take with me very often.
33:42So he's, and he's just a nice guy. He's the kind of guy that might leave my biggest stand out there.
33:49It would be my, my guest just cause he's a big teddy bear, but well, I wish he, I wish he had,
33:55uh, been a real teddy bear left as Christian McCaffrey.
33:58So that's what's funny is I, I mean, that was a thing I said to him too.
34:04Cause like, you know, again, people draft against their friends and these things all the time.
34:08A lot of the grinders know each other. They text, they see their rooms together.
34:13I mean, I, I, I'm hesitant to, like even discuss this.
34:16Cause I, people think everything's collusion these days. Um, well, I don't know if that's true, but people would, but yeah, as
34:23we talked through it, just trying to set some valid ground rules.
34:26I was like, don't send anyone. Cause he's in like right next to us on the inside of the long draft side.
34:33I was like, don't send anyone to us that you think we would draft because I'm drafting with Jacob.
34:39You don't know the guys he likes and we may not draft him.
34:43Just draft your team. We may not pick the person.
34:46And if we don't pick the person, uh, and some, and then you wanted him and then somebody else takes him at
34:53the turn or something like that's the worst scenario.
34:55So just draft your team. I'll draft my team.
34:58We won't, we won't discuss whatever. I'm doing a show with Jacob.
35:02We're doing it for content, but yeah, we did want to address it.
35:06Cause it's kind of hilarious. We'll probably talk about his picks a little bit.
35:10Um, but yeah, Jamison is one that he probably would know that, that I'm going to, I'm going to take it five, 10.
35:17And if that happened, that's the only one that I was like, yeah, I think, I think you would know.
35:23Well, I mean, let's see how this board falls.
35:25Cause we might even just take him at the four or three, but, uh, our team so far is Walker and lamb.
35:32Uh, so, uh, you know, making sure to get guys that you don't normally draft at the two players that you keep
35:39drafting at the slot you keep getting. So nice of you to keep, mixing up those exposures.
35:44Insane. I don't have a Walker lamb yet. I have a lamb McBride and I have a lamb.
35:49Bowers. Yeah. A lamb McBride for 12. And then for the one Oh eight, I got Bowers and then lamb came back.
35:56So getting lamb with the running back instead of an elite tight end feels pretty nice.
36:01I think that worked out pretty good because the, the pick I probably would have made if I was just drafting completely
36:08solo at the one 10 would have been lamb.
36:10Um, and who knows if Walker would have made it back and he's my preference of all that next group of running backs.
36:17Like I prefer him to Brown cook Barkley Hampton.
36:20So that kind of worked out perfect. In my opinion, I did a draft last night where on a, on a, it
36:27wasn't on FFPC was on a different site, but all those running backs went before Barkley and I don't really like Barkley.
36:33And I realized that that, that tier can dry up.
36:36So I thought if we didn't take Walker, there was a possibility.
36:40It went Brown. I mean, even cook, I've seen fall a little bit, but it could have went Brown cook Hampton Walker,
36:47in which case I guess we could have went gently, but I don't think we were wanting to.
36:52And so my thought in taking Walker first was that one of these receivers might swing back, which wasn't a guarantee.
36:58He's sometimes seeing lamb, Jefferson, McBride all go at the turn, but I think I'm more comfortable starting running back, running back,
37:05then getting boxed out at, at running back and having to start wide receiver, wide receiver because of, you know, just the structural stuff.
37:12Brice goes here. So now we're into the dead zone.
37:15It gets tricky. So you, you talked about the, the Cowboys cuts and we didn't talk a ton about that, but I took the fade tag off Javante.
37:24I don't know that I like him in, in mains, but he's flipped both Brice and Jeremiah love over at the NFFC.
37:30He's going to score touchdowns. He's going to get a lot of work.
37:34He's going to be a volume play for a lot of people.
37:38Um, and, and a floor play and, and get you some points.
37:42I don't, I wouldn't advocate for him here. Probably relative to the options we'll have, but we won't be drafting him here,
37:48but I do, I do think he, um, I've, I've talked all along about not wanting to rank anyone RB 15.
37:55I do think he belongs at RB 15, but he's more of a dead zone back.
37:59And that makes this turn tricky for running back.
38:02If we had started wide receiver, wide receiver, then you're going pretty much full dead zone.
38:07There it goes. Javante, lad goes, which is big for us.
38:10Cause that's one of the receivers in this range that neither of us were probably prioritizing at our next two picks.
38:17Um, and so I think we're, I have the queue filled up with a lot of receivers that we are prioritizing.
38:23And then another guy that we've discussed a lot on the podcast to like, if he fell all the way here, I
38:30would have a hard time, I would have a hard time stopping that from happening.
38:34Um, um, at this price. Um, we also potentially could get a tight end follower, which would, um, kind of help us
38:41out after we bypass the chance to take Trey McBride at the 203, two of my favorite receivers in this range are there.
38:48Another guy that's one of your favorite receivers in this range is there.
38:52I think we have a plethora of options here.
38:55It's just going to be a matter of what we, what we, I'm trying to decide.
38:59Sean has McBride. Okay. He went ETN here. Travis ETN.
39:02Okay. That's interesting. So we took him together. So many options that we got 55 seconds.
39:07So I think it's clearly Tyler Warren for me.
39:10Is it Warren? Okay. Let's take Tyler Warren then.
39:13And then we'll just figure out what I was going to ask if you were comfortable with that as a Colts fan, but yeah, I am.
39:21I'm good with Warren here. I think, I mean, there's a lot of receivers that can come around.
39:26Rashid Rice. Are you out on rice? I mean, I am, but like if he came all the way back to 403, we can take him for sure.
39:34Um, we have, we also have, so the ones we, we both like are Zay Flowers, Garrett Wilson and, and Teddero McMillan.
39:41You have Waddle in there. I love Waddle and you like Rice.
39:45And one of those guys is going to come back.
39:48So why don't we just take Warren and then.
39:50Okay. Let the room kind of, I think that's the right play.
39:54Neither of these guys behind us has a tight end.
39:57Getting Warren at three 10 is a really valuable pick.
40:00And I was really hoping Sean wasn't going to double tap tight end knowing he likes to do some, some quirky stuff.
40:07Um, I, I had no issue passing rice there.
40:10He goes three 11, but I was just making sure if he came back, like you were okay with it.
40:16I figured he would go, which helps push down.
40:18Like it's helps the possibility of Garrett Wilson coming around.
40:21It helps the possibility of Zay Flowers coming around.
40:24Um, there's, we're going to get at, I mean, I guess there's three picks before our turn.
40:29So it's possible that all of Flowers, Wilson and Waddle go, but we will probably get one of those three, which includes,
40:36um, Flowers who we both really like. Right. So Waddle has a higher ADP.
40:40And I like, and Waddle who I love and you like.
40:43Um, yeah, I was, sorry, I, I wasn't saying the, uh, I wasn't saying Waddle when I was saying those other guys,
40:50cause he has a little bit of a higher ADP and, um, I, I think he would go if all the other guys go that we both like.
40:59Hire and go. So we're guaranteed one of Flowers, Wilson or Waddle to come back to us now.
41:04Right. Or if, if I could talk you into McMillan over Waddle, who I have a whole tier ahead of him, but,
41:11um, I, I, I could get my Waddle share with you for sure.
41:15I would pound the table for, for Waddle over McMillan.
41:18If we, if he is there, I will, I'll give you whoever you want.
41:22The next pick, if we could get Waddle here.
41:25Okay. That's, that's fine. I can get my Waddle share with you.
41:28Uh, I have not gotten him much. Um, so like, despite having him ranked very aggressively, like I was at a point
41:35where I was, um, I was going to take him at three or five yesterday.
41:39And then he went at the three or four.
41:42I was like on tilt. Um, I mean, I was happy because Sean's taking Ted or all McMillan.
41:48I'll guarantee you that. So here's a, here's an olive branch to Sean.
41:51No, you, you were, you were, you want Waddle.
41:54I wanted to get a share of him. I love getting it with you.
41:58You've been really, uh, into him. You, you gave a great case on the show recently.
42:03Um, so we go ahead and take Waddle there.
42:06It was a little bit of a bummer that Boze and Garrett Wilson went to me, at least.
42:11I'm okay with, with Waddle there. I like that.
42:14I, that pick, but I, um, um, I like Garrett Wilson a ton and getting him at four Oh three would have
42:21been really fun with a Walker lamb Warren start.
42:24And then, so that, that guy behind us who started chase Brown, Justin Jefferson just got rice and Garrett Wilson at the three, four turn.
42:31I think that's really impactful. I get the rice concerns, but did you see him moving around in the third preseason game?
42:38Like he looked pretty good. And my question that I've asked you on the show already before is if not rice, then who gets the targets?
42:46The player we took at the one 10. Kenneth Walker gets all the volume.
42:50Yeah. I still think the math doesn't target running back.
42:53Even with that, the math doesn't math either. Right.
42:56I would have been fine. If rice came back, if rice came back to us at the, I mean, had, had Sean
43:02taken Warren, I would have, um, I would have been content with taking rice at the three 10.
43:08Interesting. He wouldn't, he wouldn't have been my highest ranked player, but I, I would have been like content.
43:13I think we would have landed on Garrett Wilson in that case.
43:17I have rice one spot. I have rice. I have rice ranked ahead of Garrett.
43:22Oh, interesting. So I thought you were higher on Garrett Wilson.
43:25I guess you just don't. I like Garrett Wilson.
43:28Uh, I like Garrett Wilson, but I have like, like waddle.
43:31So I have Warren, then waddle, then rice, um, then Garrett, and then Tedaroa.
43:35You like all these, uh, new age per route metrics and don't really care about the actual, uh, routes and targets.
43:42Like Garrett Wilson has had 150 targets in all, basically all three of his healthy seasons.
43:46And she rice has had a million targets whenever he's played full games, but you know, Jalen waddle theoretically could play, could run more routes.
43:54the theoretical upside of Jalen waddle, Jalen waddle, whatever his ADP is, um, his ADP in my drafts has been like the three Oh three.
44:02So I'm just, I'm just so thrilled to, uh, to finally get a share.
44:06It's been, I've had two drafts where I was ready to do the, like, I'm taking my guy move at three Oh five.
44:13And he went at three Oh four in both of them.
44:16And it was now in fairness, like that gave me like, um, like I was so torn.
44:21Cause I was like, especially cause the draft yesterday, the whole idea of the spite draft is like, we're going to take our guys.
44:29Right. So I was so ready to be like, this is my like number one wide receiver.
44:34Like that. I'm pounding the table for all off season.
44:37I'm going to take him ahead ADP. I don't care.
44:40I want to get a share of this guy pumping with three Oh five.
44:44Then he goes at three Oh four. And I'm like, well, that's annoying, but Malik neighbors was there at three Oh five.
44:51So I just took him instead. And that felt pretty good.
44:54We were all the way back to the, yeah, I'm glad you got a waddle share.
44:59I know the listeners can hear the excitement in your voice.
45:02I am. I've got multiple shares of McMillan. Um, so it was an easy decision.
45:07We take McMillan on our last team together. I feel like we did, or did we take T Higgins?
45:12I don't know. We might have, um, took neither of those players.
45:16McMillan must've gone. We have Luther. We should have looked at our go, go pull it up.
45:21And I have, I have it pulled up. So McMillan must not have made it to us.
45:26We must've been ticked about that because we wouldn't have taken Luther burden over McMillan.
45:31Uh, we picked up the five. Yeah. McMillan went right before us.
45:34We took JSN, Hampton, Hall, burden, JMO, Trevion, Henderson, Godwin, Dowdle, Goldenworthy.
45:38That was our first 10 picks. Godwin was the one we didn't love.
45:42Trevion was a really good value. Dowdle was a really good value.
45:46What was after Dowdle? Then golden worthy. Golden and worthy on that team.
45:50Okay, cool. We can do some different fun stuff on this one.
45:53We got Jamison on that one too. Jamison's not coming back.
45:57He's been the top ranked receiver on my board for a while.
46:00He's been going, uh, high fifth. I mean, I don't, don't think there's any scenario where he's coming back to five, 10 in this draft.
46:08That's been pretty receiver heavy since our last pick, just to give the listeners an update real quick.
46:13Ted, Roa McMillan, Deandre Swift, the Mecca, Buka, Luther, Burton, T Higgins, Cam Scadaboo, DJ Moore, Christian Watson.
46:19And at the turn, Josh Allen finally went for 12 Parker Washington, the five Oh one.
46:23So we've gotten Christian Watson, Parker Washington, DJ Moore ahead of Jamison.
46:27Those guys, some of those guys go ahead of him anyway, but I mean, Jamison goes in this tier pretty frequently by ADP.
46:34Jamison's a top receiver, five of the next six picks should be running back by, by recent main event drafts.
46:40Just the last three days, there's been about 30.
46:43So I'm looking specifically at mains. We have David Montgomery, Bucky Irving, Janarian Price, Bachel Tootin and Quinshawn Judkins all in that group.
46:50Sorry. What were you going to say? Nothing. I mean, like I have things I can say, I'm sure, but nothing in
46:56particular that I was going to interrupt you with.
46:59I did. I thought you were starting to say something.
47:02I did the little recap. No, no, I thought I kind of cut you off.
47:07Jamison goes 503. As expected, Tucker craft went five Oh two there.
47:10So we do get that. That guy had taken Watson.
47:13I'm expecting a Jordan love pick there later. He's setting himself up with the Packers build.
47:18We do get, and he had Bowers at one Oh two.
47:22So that's a second tight end. He's, he's doing a fun draft there.
47:25We do get even more of an anti running back lean at this point.
47:30Now these next few teams all have one running back.
47:33Um, I'm sure Sean's not loving it. He has a two running back and one tight end build.
47:38And then he took a receiver. Yeah. So we do get generic price there at five Oh five.
47:44Finally fan and went five Oh four to your point about what we would do at five six thinking maybe tight end there.
47:51We end up getting Warren. I'm glad we didn't go that way.
47:54Cause craft and fan and have already gone. It's possible that like, I mean, we could still get pits Laporta.
48:00I don't really love Kittle. That would have been the one I would have.
48:04I mean, we could have done it, but I wouldn't have been thrilled.
48:08Well, I mean, I don't know what we're going to do here because the five, six is an interesting range.
48:14Um, you know, maybe we got a faller on someone that we like, although that's getting increasingly less likely by the minute.
48:21Um, and then there's like a lot of guys that at least one of us, if not both of us don't like
48:28that go in the five, six turn range. So I'm, I'm curious how we're going to manage our way through this.
48:34Um, like who, uh, you gave me a lot of though.
48:37And I, I, I, Oh, that's right. You gave me the next day.
48:41I'm going to, I'm going to advise, but you get, don't like that.
48:45Um, I suspect that you are probably more into like Judkins and Tootin than I am.
48:50Okay. Uh, yeah, I think, and I, so by ADP, I'm a lot more into Laporta and Kittle than you are.
48:57As a second tight end. Okay. Um, by ADP, it's Bucky, Tootin, Judkins, Adams, Adunze, and then you get to pits and
49:03actually pits is my next tight end as well.
49:06I, and so Adams does go. So it's, it's been wide receiver heavy.
49:10McLaurin went, we only have one running back. So the fact that ADP has given us Bucky, Tootin, Judkins, and then Adunze, I think is a good pick.
49:18Although I'm fine with Adunze. I'm good with Adunze.
49:21In line to take a receiver here. It would not shock me at all.
49:25If he takes Adunze here. Adunze would be the one receiver here that I, he's the last of a tier for me as well.
49:33That's a big tier drop for me after him down to Evans, who I think is draftable, but he goes Quinn Sean Judkins.
49:39Adunze. yeah, I mean, it's ultimately like, you know, I got Waddle.
49:43So you, you get final say on this one.
49:46I know you really like Bucky. Yeah. I do like Bucky.
49:49Bucky's my highest running back, but Adunze is last of a tier.
49:53Do you think we could get Bucky or Tootin back?
49:56They're both. I think that we, if I was drafting this, I'm probably taking Adunze, even though I like Bucky so much,
50:02because I think he's last of a tier at receiver.
50:06And I would bet that maybe Bucky comes all the way back around.
50:09Even if he doesn't, we probably at least get like Tootin or Trevion Henderson, who I would be open-minded to at the 603.
50:16All right. Adunze. That's what you would do. I don't have a share of Rome yet either.
50:22So I'm totally down with that. Yeah. Okay. We're going to take Adunze as our third.
50:26So the other guy here is Marshawn Lloyd. I'm kicking my, I get to decide on the pick down to 603.
50:33It's clearly Adunze. Bucky goes one pick behind us.
50:35He would have been a good pick there. He would have been.
50:39I'll just be like transparent. I have so much Bucky that if you wanted to do Bucky, I would have been in
50:46on that, but I'd have Noah Adunze. And I think he was the last of a tier.
50:51So I'm pretty fine with that. He is. But so Bucky and Tootin go.
50:55And I think they're the, they're the last of a tier for me now too.
51:00I've, I've opened up a tier between this and Travion and Romandre.
51:03The guy that I would like now is Marshawn Lloyd.
51:06If he swings around, are you okay with that?
51:09Um, yeah. Yeah. That's probably, I think it's aggressive, but I think it could pay off.
51:14I've been seeing him go with the five, six.
51:17Some you like Lloyd over Henderson. I have Henderson ranked higher, but we took Henderson in our last draft.
51:22And I do think on a, on a team where we only have one.
51:27Oh God, I'm getting, I can't check recent ADP on him.
51:30Cause I'm getting, uh, no, he, he, he probably won't come back.
51:34I think we just need to pick our, no, I know.
51:37I just want to know how much of a reach it is.
51:40Sorry. He's the ones I've been doing recently. He's been going, um, later than this, but like six, like late six, sometimes
51:47early seven, but not, not like way later than this.
51:50Um, I have, I have it pulled up. Just give me one.
51:54One sec. It was just being slow. We got 30 seconds.
51:57Put, put, put a Lloyd at the top of the key.
52:00I'm going to put Lloyd at the top. The other options to Laporta Kittle.
52:05I, I, I'd like Laporta here. I don't think you're as high on him.
52:09Henderson. We're not going to do Ramond right here, but he's probably highest drafted running back in this range.
52:15Wide receivers. So Lloyd's going 72. It's quite a ways down behind Ramond, Andre and Henderson.
52:20Let's, I mean, I, I think Lloyd's a fun pick here, but sure.
52:23Let's do it. All right. We're going to do Marshawn Lloyd.
52:27All right. Welcome to the team. Marshawn Lloyd. Ignore the, um, Patriot running back situation.
52:31I have a ton of Henderson. So I'm like, I have, yeah.
52:35Henderson is all of a sudden become, I did not foresee this path for me.
52:39Um, earlier in the draft season when he was going at like the four or five turn, but he's, he's actually now
52:46my highest drafted running back in the main event.
52:49All of which have been, uh, even later than this price.
52:52So I don't, I'm, this is, I'm happy to add a Lloyd instead.
52:56That's fun by me. Yeah. I mean, that's my thought too.
52:59We already have multiple Henderson shares. I've done it with Sean.
53:03I did it with, and we, we have one together and it's like, you know, break a tie, a cheaper share.
53:09We got them in the late sixth on our other team together.
53:13Um, kind of break a tie away from that.
53:15It's aggressive on Lloyd, but the other running backs were Henderson and then Ramondre Stevenson.
53:20We, I mean, you could have pulled Jonathan Brooks up, but he's got some surprise soreness.
53:25I think he comes back to us actually with, uh, he may come all the way back.
53:30We have Warren and Dowdle. So as far as, as far as ADP in just the last couple of days here, I
53:37mentioned, um, I'm just looking from eight 31. Road of this has a great tool on this.
53:42Um, we're drafted on nine three. So since Monday, since after cut down day, there's been 30, 31 main.
53:48Some of them are, are slow drafts. So there's sometimes some guys have been picked 31 times.
53:53Some have been picked 30 times. Regardless, Jonathan Brooks is actually at 28.
53:57So he's been picked fewer times. He may, he may be waiting to fall in some of these mains, but, um, and
54:03this is actually probably updating with results from our draft as well, while it's going, but by ADP, it was Stevenson slightly
54:10ahead of Henderson at about 64 and 65 average pick.
54:13And then Jalen Warren at 69.5 Brooks at 71.5 Lloyd at 72.1.
54:17So he's, I mean, a meaningful eight picks behind Stevenson about seven, 6.7 behind, um, Travion.
54:21It's an aggressive pull up of Lloyd there. 72 is more like the 612.
54:26We took him at 603 at the same. And, and, and, you know, in a pretty receiver heavy room, it wasn't probably
54:32the, the best pick at the same time. Like this is a clear tier to me, all these running backs.
54:38And I don't think in mains, like going and getting your guy is like crazy by any means.
54:44So anyway, no. And he does give us very likely.
54:47I mean, the Jacob situation is completely tumultuous. Maybe this is a good time to talk about it.
54:52We're going to do it in the short view.
54:55We just took a green Bay Packers running back.
54:58I mean, he it's, it's completely open-ended in terms of what could happen and how many games he could miss or not miss.
55:05But most likely I think we're at least getting the first half of the FFPC regular season with Lloyd immediately out of the gates.
55:12And that's kind of nice because it then allows us like we only had the one running back through five.
55:18If you take Henderson, it does put you in a little bit of a bind where you're probably not expecting a really fast start from Trevion Henderson.
55:26And so then you've invested in a running back to, you still only have the three receivers.
55:31You have to find ways probably to address early season running back production still, at least now the way I would look
55:38at it is we're pretty set at running back out of the gates, or at least we project to be, we still
55:45got to build more upside in the room, but I think that it allows us a little bit more flexibility.
55:51So I'm, I'm definitely open-minded to the Lloyd thing.
55:53I mean, if we knew for certain, and we obviously do not that Jacobs was going to miss the entire season, I
56:00would have Lloyd, like, honestly, I might even have him ahead of like Tootin.
56:04Um, I would definitely have him ahead of Judkins in Montgomery in a managed setting.
56:09Um, with the, with all the uncertainty, I don't have them quite that high, but I, I think it's, it's definitely an
56:15outcome where he is, you know, smashing early and he's smashing all season.
56:19I also think it's an outcome that's maybe under discussed that let's say Jacobs comes back, you know, somewhere week seven, week eight, week nine.
56:27If Lloyd has been smashing, you know, maybe Jacobs doesn't come back to a workhorse role.
56:32And Lloyd remains a startable player because they've really loved what they've been able to get out of him.
56:38And maybe they're not anxious to just reinstall 75% workload.
56:41Josh Jacobs. Oh, I thought it was muted. Could you hear me coughing?
56:45Sorry. Yeah. Yeah. No worries. I thought I muted myself.
56:48My bad. Um, I got saliva on the windpipe.
56:50No, I, so I was looking at some data there.
56:53The earliest he's gone is the, is the five 12.
56:56We took him at the six Oh three, obviously an aggressive price.
57:00There will be people who will immediately say, um, why would you draft a guy in a main event that has gone way, way later?
57:08Because before the Jacobs thing, these main events were running and he was going in the double digit rounds.
57:13Uh, number one, this isn't as big of a contest as like the BBM or whatever, like the different iterations of teams that exist.
57:21There's a lot fewer than I think people realize in the main event.
57:24Number two, I don't, I think people think you have to hit on such a nuts draft.
57:30I don't, I don't subscribe to that theory, even in BBM.
57:33And I talked about this a little bit on, uh, Pete's best ball breakfast this morning.
57:38I was on with him. We took Lloyd there as well.
57:41I'm not trying to get Lloyd everywhere. I do think, so we talked about how this five, six turn could be tricky and it would get flat.
57:49The tricky thing that happened was at five, 10, we had three guys that we maybe didn't think would even be available.
57:56They're kind of all slid down. Um, well, I mean, that's kind of unfair to say, cause I don't know who else
58:03would have slid, but like Tucker craft went pretty early.
58:06Harold Fanden went a little earlier than usual. Well, at any rate, we had a dunes, a last of a tier.
58:12We also had Irving and tootin for me as last of a tier.
58:16They both go. Henderson's been a little tricky. He's had some tough off season stuff.
58:20We've gotten him in, I've gotten him in multiple mains already.
58:24We got them together already. I got him with Sean.
58:27Um, not really looking to take a bunch of Stevenson.
58:30I could see taking Stevenson there, but the point is every other guy we were looking at and talking through, and you're
58:36talking about taking maybe a second tight end with LaPorta or Kittle, which I don't think was a bad idea.
58:43LaPorta would have been an interesting. That would have been like, that would have been my pick at a vacuum, Sam LaPorta.
58:49But we had Tyler. sorry. We, we only had one running back in, in, um, Ken Walker.
58:54And my concern was what, what happened would happen, which is that all the other guys have gone other than Jonathan Brooks.
59:01He is the one to your point that may get all the way back to us.
59:06Be hilarious to take Lloyd and Brooks. That's a team that's doomed.
59:09Um, isn't that kind of a good pairing? Because I mean, the fear of Brooks is what are you getting early season?
59:16The fear of Lloyd is what are you getting late season?
59:19I think they pair pretty well together. Yeah, sure.
59:22The fear is also that they're going to suck and, or get hurt or like, you're stacking a lot of, of injury risk.
59:29Um, so I'm getting caught up on my, on my list here as I was coughing and talking to you and a hundred things.
59:36So the best receiver for me at this point is DK Metcalf.
59:40I don't know if you're really into him. I've taken him a bunch.
59:44Well, he's, he's, he's far and away my top receiver.
59:47Okay. He does go right after you said that, uh, Sean is up ahead of us.
59:52Brooks is top ADP. Sean takes Brian Thomas. BTJ.
59:55So my top ranked receiver would be downs. And my top ranked running back would be Brooks.
60:00I don't think there's a tight end. It makes sense here.
60:03there's no quarterback. So, so I like downs to quite a bit.
60:07Uh, I also have Matthew golden in that range and you have golden in the queue.
60:11I like Michael Wilson kind of a lot in this range.
60:15We could talk through that. Obviously you like Harrison more.
60:18Harrison has gone, but Brooks is the ADP pick.
60:21And I know he's falling, but I like the idea that he pairs well with Lloyd.
60:25Okay. Should we just take Brooks? I'm good. I'm good with Brooks.
60:29Let's, let's do Brooks here and then figure out a receiver and hopefully not take Michael Wilson.
60:34Lloyd and Brooks are fascinating together there. Where it's a little bit, certainly a little bit risky.
60:39Um, you don't want to take Michael Wilson at all.
60:42He just had a massive extension. Absolutely not. You, you don't buy the Puka Nakua stuff and that he actually is going
60:49to catch a ton of a million balls. Well, you're going to learn.
60:53He went, thank God. He went. Yeah. I mean, I, the idea that he would be like, like an ick player is, is odd to me.
61:01I don't understand why he's like a discount Parker Washington four rounds later.
61:05He, he had like it. I mean, do you not put any stock at all into just how completely irrelevant he's been
61:11anytime Marvin Harrison has played over the course of his career?
61:15And like, it's not like a long view guy.
61:17Like he was like a pretty meh prospect. Didn't do anything for two years.
61:22Like even last year is total yard run on the season.
61:25Let's talk about Michael Wilson in a sec. Cause we're up our last time.
61:29We kind of ran the clock too low. Yeah.
61:32So Dan, Dan's is my highest rank receiver. I'm also happy with either of the green Bay wide receivers.
61:38Can't count on either coming back. Let's take downs.
61:40He's one of my highest to, he's one of the guys I was disagreeing with Sean on.
61:46So I would like to get him in a draft that I'm not doing with Sean.
61:50Cause I don't think he's as high on downs.
61:53I think he's a little more concerned about some health stuff.
61:56I think the health stuff is mostly just like made up.
62:00Like I, they talked about a growing thing, said it was no big deal.
62:04They talked about what was the other one, a calf.
62:07It was also said to be no big deal.
62:10I don't think Keenan's a Keenan Allen's 34. If he runs a lot of, anyway, you're good with downs, right?
62:16Super good with downs. Yeah. Yeah. Let's do that.
62:19We're going to do Josh downs and a wide receiver heavy room.
62:22So we do have Tyler Warren, but I was going to, I was just going to say, is that dumb to take with Warren, but maybe.
62:30No, I mean, I'm, I'm okay with it. We have Walker lamb, Warren.
62:34I mean, it's not ideal probably, but Walker lamb, Warren waddle, a dunze, Lloyd Brooks and downs.
62:39I do think in some respects their, their upside cases probably cannibalize each other a little bit, but in some respects, like,
62:46I think this price is fine on downs. If something were to happen to Warren downs is a great play here.
62:52And it kind of provides a little additional floor to the build in some ways.
62:57The, the Wilson thing you said, do I not put any stock in it?
63:01I mean, it's not that I don't put any stock in it, but it's an incredibly small sample, especially when you consider
63:08that Wilson, you know, pretty clearly broke out last year.
63:11And obviously the Cardinals agree with that. Cause they just paid him $75 million.
63:15Um, like he broke out last year with Jacoby Brissett.
63:18He got to, you know, it's a later breakout, certainly not ideal, but like, it's not that I don't put stock in
63:24that, but I do put a lot of stock in the current iteration of the NFL in scheme mattering.
63:30I wrote a piece early in the off season about scheme being more important than ever.
63:35The way that LaFleur wants to run this was pretty clear to me in the preseason.
63:40They were, they've talked about Wilson and the Puka role.
63:43I don't think like people fully understand what that means, but it's the whole idea of like being the move guy who
63:50inserts in like blocking lanes, like almost as a fullback.
63:53They were doing that with Wilson in the preseason.
63:55And then they, because of that, the plays run off of that.
63:59When we talk about Puka role or the Cooper cup role before that, sometimes it's like motioning in and then sprinting to the flat for an easy reception.
64:07It's like a guaranteed reception. The catch rate on that play has to be 95%.
64:12And it's a catch and run play. Well, they ran that in the preseason.
64:16They ran it again with Jalen Brooks after Wilson was off the field.
64:20Um, and it just seems extremely clear that that's what Wilson's going to do.
64:24And that Harrison's going to be on the outside.
64:27It doesn't mean that Harrison can't be good. Also.
64:30I just think it's like, I think, I think it's fairly clear at this point in my read of how the offense
64:36is going to work and all of that. Like, I don't think Harrison can't hit.
64:41I think it's fairly clear that Wilson's going to get more targets and have more volume and it's full PPR.
64:47And I don't think he's going to do nothing just because of past splits in a completely different offense where we've seen
64:54them talk about his role in that way. And we've seen them now do it in the preseason.
64:59And that's really where it clicked for me. The, the drive where Harrison scored the TD and everyone was like, look, Harrison's the guy.
65:06Harrison was not involved in that drive at all.
65:09Wilson had two very easy catches. And then Harrison caught a play action touchdown in the red zone, which was great, but
65:16it was the only time he was even like looked at on the drive.
65:20And it was like, Oh, Wilson's the guy that the offense is like revolving around here.
65:25Harrison's the guy that they went to off a play action play and he got a score and you know, he'll have
65:32some touchdowns and you'll have some explosive plays. And I do think he like his profile is not at all disqualifying.
65:38You know, when I wrote about like, when I wrote a field tippers in this off season and wrote him up, I
65:45was like, people think he's a lot worse than he was.
65:48And the fact that you can get him in the sixth round is pretty silly.
65:52We passed him on the seventh in that one draft.
65:55It is, it is silly. I get it. But Michael Wilson's going like meaningfully later than that.
66:01We're talking about Michael Wilson at eight Oh three there.
66:04We ended up taking downs. Concepcion's the next receiver to go.
66:07There's no receivers really going in this range. Cause I think a lot of people think this is sort of like where
66:14an end of a tier exists and Wilson like sort of being at the back of that to me is, I think
66:20it's a very viable spot to take him personally.
66:23Yeah, I could be, I mean, I, I think you make a, a very compelling case.
66:28Um, about how this, you know, this offense could be designed and I, and I've seen it by other sharp people too.
66:34I really, really strongly get on board with the Michael Wilson thing.
66:38Like just, I, to me, it would be, it would be such an exception rule, like to go for this guy who
66:45is a second half of year three breakout kind of from nowhere.
66:48Um, like, you know, it's somewhat similar to the Parker Washington thing, but I guess with Washington, it's at least, you know,
66:55okay, this guy's in the exact same role as he was last year with the same coach with the same players around him.
67:02I mean, Wilson, like, I mean, you were talking about it being a small sample.
67:06Like, I mean, to me, the small sample is Wilson being good.
67:10Like the small sample is of the games that Wilson played with Jacoby, where he was productive.
67:15A lot of that was like routes based. Um, but he was efficient in, in that sample, but like Wilson's yards per
67:22hour run last year when Harrison was on the field was even lower than it was the first two years.
67:28It was 0.79 in, in games that Wilson ran at least 15 route or that Harrison ran at least 15 routes.
67:34So the first five games when Kyler was, was the quarterback, he had eight catches in five games.
67:40He was still a very clearly ancillary player. And then the next few games, he didn't do a lot.
67:46And that's when Harrison was the majority of the Harrison split is there.
67:49Harrison gets hurt. He goes 18 targets, 15 catches, 15 targets, 10 catches.
67:53Uh, I think Harrison was back for one of these games and maybe it was the one where he only had seven targets and three catches.
68:01Then he has 16 targets, 11 catches, 11 targets and five.
68:05When Harrison came back after that point, they're like writing, stealing signals being like, um, and obviously you're following it from a
68:11weekly basis too, but being in the moment, the way that I wrote it was like, I expected Harrison to come back and be fed.
68:19This was a loss season. They were three and 14 Harrison's a year two player, top five overall pick.
68:25It was the regime that like, they're trying to save their jobs.
68:28It was like pretty clear to me that when Harrison came back, that like Michael Wilson was not going to just dunk on Harrison.
68:35They were going to manufacture stuff for Harrison. Harrison wasn't particularly good in that stretch either.
68:40But the fact that Harrison, like it really felt like forced at that point.
68:45And then he missed him a little bit more time.
68:48And it was almost like they did the, like JJ McCarthy, like fake ankle injury when they wanted to go to Carson Wentz thing.
68:55And I don't, I don't know that was necessarily entirely true, but it was, it was like, I mean, we can't justify
69:01not building the offense out of, uh, out of Michael Wilson right now because we're like force feeding Marvin Harrison and it's not really working.
69:09And maybe Marvin Harrison's just not healthy. It's another interpretation at that point.
69:13My point is like after the breakout occurred, after Harrison missed time, when he tried to come back a little bit, basically did nothing.
69:20And they then basically like deactivated him again and shut him down.
69:24And so I just, I think there's, there's context to even those splits that I'm not saying you're like, you're missing, but,
69:30um, anyway, we, we don't have to, we don't have to take him in this draft and we don't have to take
69:37him in any of our drafts because we think we're only, we got one more scheduled together, but, um, I do think
69:44like, I understand you struggle to get on board with it.
69:47And one of the other long view points is the, is the long view of the actual league and the evolution of the sport.
69:54And the fact that Parker Washington has become that kind of guy.
69:58And the fact that there's been several others, I think that are limited players that are being used effectively, uh, in a
70:05more scheme based NFL where, um, you know, all of the young coaches taking over all the roles and all of that
70:11stuff that we've, you know, seen, I just think is all very fascinating and all points in a direction of some of these types of things could exist.
70:20I don't think it's really that much of an exception to a rule from that perspective.
70:25I understand that. Like, if you are very long view profile based, it seems like Michael Wilson's probably not going to be great.
70:32I also would have told you that he couldn't possibly have had three games with 15 plus targets last year, but he did that too.
70:39And I know you can say it's routes based, but like 15 plus targets on route volume or not is, you know, it's a lot of volume.
70:47So it's a, it'll be interesting to see how it plays out for sure.
70:52But I think he's a, I think he's a pretty viable, like wide receiver for Sean goes Addison there.
70:57We are down to worthy. McKay lemon. What's up?
71:00Oh, I was just gonna, I was just gonna say, I think, I think it's McKay lemon here.
71:05Is it not? Um, yeah. I mean, he's been sliding a lot.
71:09I really like him. The other guy I was gonna mention was, uh, Terrence Ferguson goes in this range.
71:15That's interesting. I don't know that I've really gotten a lot of him, but I think McKay lemon's a really fun pick with this build.
71:22We have a dunes, a downs that are kind of more floor type plays to me.
71:27What's your ideal split of the two picks we have?
71:30Is it, is it two receivers, a receiver, running back receiver, tight end?
71:34I don't have a strong opinion on that. All right.
71:37Um, it's, let's take a wide receiver. All right.
71:40I don't have a lot of lemon. I would like to get a share of lemon.
71:45Okay. I take a lot of worthy at this point.
71:48Um, getting a share of McKay. I, I, I very much believe that McKay lemon is a steal at nine, 10 is,
71:54is grossly mispriced more than around behind Casey Concepcion.
71:57Um, so, and we've talked about that. So yeah, I like that.
72:01That's a good call. Um, so Ferguson is an option.
72:04Yep. And like worthy is an option for some people.
72:07Stefan, did Stefan Diggs not go yet? No, he's available.
72:10I think he's definitely an option. Um, at, at this range.
72:13I mean, that's, that's a pretty big faller people.
72:16I think people are over panicking about the Washington offense.
72:19Like Jane Daniels is still here. We're at the nine, 10 turn.
72:23Now digs goes. Um, so worthy is my top receiver, but I don't know if we have to go receiver.
72:29We could. Terrence Ferguson, you mentioned, I think is a strong option.
72:32I would normally throw it. Alec Pierce here, but we have two Colts already.
72:37I think that's a moratorium on Colts. Yeah. We're not taking Alec Pierce.
72:40Um, so the other pick is, is Keith Mitchell.
72:43Yeah, that's, we could do that. I'd, I'd probably be inclined to take some other running backs.
72:48If we went in the running back direction, specifically, I mean, my top running back would be Rashad White.
72:54I mean, chance, chance to just like bat out on a vigorous backfield as a pathway to be a starter.
73:00Yeah. No, they're, they're going to be terrible as you just alluded to.
73:04And Terrence Ferguson. I don't think they're going to be terrible.
73:07Uh, no, I think you made a great point that they're going to be terrible.
73:12No, the fact that Ja'Goye Grosky-Mirrit is not going to be terrible.
73:16Practicing a bunch of receiving. I just, they're, they're not going to throw to their backs a lot anyway.
73:21I think he can be fine, but I, I'm, I have him.
73:25Quite a waste. I was into it early, but like the camp news on Ja'Goye Grosky-Mirrit really got me off that.
73:31And then how, how the offense shifted. Now with all the line stuff, maybe that means more dump offs to him anyway.
73:38And the other direction we need for him and pass pro.
73:41Um, but if he's a non-starter, I mean, another running back I'd throw out is Josh Jacobs.
73:46I know he took Lloyd. Um, I don't know if that makes you more or less likely to consider Jacob.
73:52Not in a main. I'm not taking both those guys.
73:56I think that's a bad, bad call. We have 45 seconds.
73:59We don't have to go Keaton. You're not into him.
74:02You had Jonah Coleman in the queue. I think he'd come all the way back with the injury.
74:07I guess we have Sean in front of us, so maybe he won't, but.
74:12No, maybe he won't. We have Jonah Coleman in the queue.
74:15Do you, I mean. Coleman's fun. I mean. I like Keaton over Coleman.
74:19What about Xavier Worthy? And then try to get a running back to us.
74:23Yeah, I'm definitely into Xavier Worthy. He's my top ranked player in a vacuum.
74:27As long as it makes sense positionally. He'd be what?
74:30Our wide receiver six. We could basically be done at receiver.
74:34Right. That's the idea. I'm in on that. I'm in on that call.
74:38It's too worthy. Okay. It's early at 10.03 for Worthy, but.
74:41Not that early. It's fine. Oh, that's probably going to make Sean mad.
74:45He only has three receivers. He probably wanted Worthy.
74:48Take Alec Pierce, Sean. You'll like it. He's going to outscore Michael Wilson.
74:51He's probably not happy. Whoops. We couldn't decide on a running back.
74:55It's a tough running back spot. Yeah, it is.
74:58This is a tricky draft. I mean. So you also have JCM pretty far down.
75:02Like you're that out on the commanders producing a viable running back this year.
75:07So I went to Kobe Lane, by the way.
75:09That's an interesting. He really likes Lane. It was very clearly the last of a tier at wide receiver.
75:15I was just texting him that we couldn't decide on a running back.
75:19And I didn't. I mean, that was a painful snipe.
75:22We ran the clock way down and then took Worthy.
75:25Yeah. I don't know what else we could have done there.
75:28We could have went with a tight end. I don't think we're going with Jaden Daniels.
75:33After T-Ferg, right? We could have gone Jaden, but I think we have like we have Lam.
75:38So like Dak makes a lot of sense later.
75:41I should have just gave you Rashad White. With Lloyd and Brooks, I should have just gave you Rashad White.
75:47I have him pretty far down. Maybe that's a mistake at this point.
75:51But... Yeah, I think that's probably one of our biggest discrepancies.
75:54Is both of the Washington running backs. I liked a lot of what I heard early in the offseason.
76:00I liked a lot of the stuff that we...
76:03That I saw when I was doing the projections.
76:06And I had him ranked pretty aggressively. And I had him as a target, actually.
76:10Because they're talking a ton about him in past work.
76:13And I did a little looking into... Like, obviously, Jaden Daniels is a mobile QB.
76:18He's not going to throw to the backs a lot.
76:21I did a little looking into Austin Eckler, who only ended up playing 14 games with him over the two...
76:27Seasons. But he did average a decent number of targets per game.
76:30Not like crazy different than earlier in his career.
76:33And... Sean texted me back. He said, that was the only pick if you didn't go Daniels.
76:38Which I was thinking Daniels too. But that was sort of...
76:42He understood. Anyway... I... I liked some of that stuff.
76:45That they actually used a guy with a running back background.
76:48Who... Excuse me. A receiving background at running back.
76:51They found ways to use him in the passing game with Jaden Daniels over the last couple of years.
76:56Thought that was maybe optimistic for White. But again, I still...
77:00Like, in the back of my mind, very confidently feel that it's going to be a small pie.
77:05Everything they did with that offense. And they have a new coordinator.
77:09But he worked under Cliff Kingsbury. The idea is they're going to do some of the different things.
77:14Like, some of the under center things. But still, I think, keep a lot of what Daniels does well.
77:20Which is the shotgun stuff. A lot of the stuff they would do in that offense was like wide receiver quick screens and things.
77:27And so... You do have the potential for, you know, quick hits to the perimeter for a lot of these other guys.
77:34Probably, you know, some of the younger guys. Maybe they use McCaffrey.
77:38Luke McCaffrey. They kept seven receivers. They got, you know...
77:41Oconquo now. They kept Luke McCaffrey. They kept Jacoby Lane.
77:44They kept all these dudes. They kept all these dudes.
77:47That could do some ball-in-hand stuff. What have you.
77:49And so, again, I think it's kind of a small pie for the running backs and targets generally.
77:55The thing that was optimistic for me about, you know, thinking, okay, well, he could get three, four targets per game.
78:01Was this idea that Jacoby Krosky-Meritt had a 7% targets per outrun last year.
78:05Which is one of these points of... That's absurdly low.
78:08Anything under 10% is low. 7% absurdly low. And it's a, you know, it's a reminder that, like, you can be out
78:15in routes in a J and Daniels offense. He's probably either going to push it vertically or he's going to extend until he does.
78:22Maybe take a sack or scramble. Like, it's not going to be check down time, typically speaking.
78:27And then they were talking in camp, like, they're really working with Jacoby Krosky-Meritt on his receiving.
78:33And they want him to be doing that stuff.
78:35And to me, that was just like, you already had him as a, you know, a year or two back.
78:41Some rushing upside. Had 808 on the ground last year.
78:44Rashad White's never been an efficient runner. I think, like, part of the point for me with White was, like, he could
78:51get kind of all of the pie for the receiving work.
78:54And then also, he's got a little bit of size.
78:57And maybe he could take some of the Chris Rodriguez stuff.
79:01Maybe take some of the goal line stuff, etc.
79:03It just doesn't seem like that's likely. He kind of lost all that work in Tampa because he has such a slow first step.
79:11Like, it doesn't matter if you're a big back if you can't actually get back to the line of scrimmage effectively.
79:17Behind a bad line. I mean, Daniels can help the rushing efficiency.
79:21Part of my initial thought was, like, with the slow first step, like, Daniels at least can help the rushing efficiency.
79:27Hold the defensive ends. Create some wider splits. Maybe he gets some, you know, gets a head of steam going and gets some bigger runs at times.
79:35I don't think that's going to play up in the red zone, basically.
79:39Like, everything is tighter in the red zone regardless.
79:42And so, I don't know. It's just kind of tricky for me to see if he's not getting enough target volume.
79:48Which I think was already kind of a capped path for him in this offense.
79:53And now it's like, if Gainwell's, or I mean, Gainwell.
79:56If Ja'Kory Kroski Merritt's going to play on early downs at all, it just seems.
80:00Or get targets on early downs is what I meant to say.
80:04Get some of the called screens and things. If they're going to do some of that for Ja'Kory Kroski Merritt, it just seems rough for White.
80:12And then the other part of it is, like, the contract.
80:15Like, working through that stuff as I do as I go through the projections.
80:19Kind of understanding the market on players, etc. Rashad White got $2 million.
80:23He got $1.715 fully guaranteed. $2 million is the cap number, is the max.
80:28It's a one-year deal, maximum of $2 million. They did give him guaranteed money to make sure, you know, he knows he's
80:34going to be a part of the roster. But, like, not a good deal for a 27-year-old that has had fantasy value in the past.
80:42But the free agent market argued people didn't really think he was that good or worth really, you know, pursuing.
80:48Maybe that's, you know, misunderstanding how Washington is going to use him because they may still use him effectively, you know.
80:54I think the most of my pushback would be on the pie argument.
80:58Like, I'm actually not that. I'm not really opposed to anything he said about the White-JCM thing.
81:03I think that's actually the most likely path. Because I, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I also have JCM
81:10ranked a lot higher than you do. Like, I think it's like, to me, it's more about a situational disagreement.
81:16So, Washington last year had really low backfield XFP.
81:19To me, that was more a function of they lost Eckler almost immediately.
81:23Their running backs were Ja'Cory Krosky, Merritt, Chris Rodriguez, Jeremy Nichols.
81:26Like, they didn't really have a guy that they wanted to design passing work around.
81:30And then they also didn't have Jaden Daniels for a large portion of the year, which I think really hurt their offense.
81:37This year, like, I'm expecting it to look more like 2024, which is they were completely middle of the pack backfield XFP.
81:44They're 18th out of 32, which, you know, for two running backs that are being drafted outside the top 30, I think is more than good enough.
81:52That was a great team that had a lot of, like, overall offensive points.
81:56But it was a great team because of Jaden Daniels.
81:59Like, was that roster better than this roster? I think, not necessarily, but I think being middle of the pack on a
82:06team that made the conference championship is actually, like, I'm trying to argue that that's actually, like, the ceiling, you know?
82:12Not like the median. Sure, but I think if they were, I don't know that that's the ceiling.
82:18But, I mean, as long as they're not one of the worst teams in backfield XFP this year, I think that one
82:24of JCM or Rashad White at their respective prices will be a pretty strong pick.
82:29Unless Katron Allen gets into a much bigger role, which I'm personally bearish on.
82:33Like, I think either JCM is going to do what they want him to do and be that all-around back, in which
82:40case I think he's a really great pick where he goes, or he won't.
82:44And then Rashad White's the only option in terms of a guy who can consolidate work and can keep them on schedule in all phases.
82:52And then I think he's going to be a really good pick where he goes.
82:56I'm very bullish on one of these guys being a great pick.
83:00I don't know which one it's going to be, but I'm very overweight both.
83:04Okay. Yeah, no. I mean... All right. We're going to get Mitchell here now, right?
83:09Sean takes Chris Rodriguez. The only other pick that I see is if we wanted to just take Justin Herbert.
83:15The guy behind us has both Burrow and Caleb.
83:17Herbert has fallen all the way through to QB 10.
83:20But I think we just want to take Keaton Mitchell.
83:23Yeah, I think it's a pretty massive tear break at running back after Mitchell.
83:28Oh, you have Bo Nix in the queue. I actually love that because we have Waddle.
83:32Yeah, yeah, yeah. We have other paths at QB.
83:35All right, Keaton Mitchell. Let's do Missal. Okay. Now I'm actually very happy with what we did last round because...
83:41Yeah, I wanted to take Mitchell. I was very scared we were going to get fully shut out of running back and
83:48that we were going to do the thing where we disagreed on the running back.
83:52So then we took a receiver and then we wound up with no running backs.
83:57But I think... So is Algier still out there?
84:00Oh, no. He went in this round. 11.03. Herbert goes at the turn to the one drafter behind us who didn't have a QB.
84:07I kind of suspected that would be the case.
84:10The question is, do we just have to pull the trigger on Nix now?
84:14What's his ADP? I'm not keeping track of ADP well.
84:17I don't... As we... I personally don't think we need to, but I also don't know if there's a pick out there that is worth not doing it.
84:25He's at 1305. Purdy, Nix, Goff, Stafford, and Mahomes are all there.
84:29Purdy has a QB3. Oh my God, we have a three quarterback team.
84:33And we also have a Lamar Daniels team. So we probably should throw out the expected quarterback ADP because there's going to be inflation created by...
84:41If we were going to not take a quarterback, I would advocate for a tight end.
84:46So there's like the tier of Schultz, Sadiq, Strange.
84:48I think that we might be down to like Dulcich, Barner, Hawkinson by the time we're next on the clock.
84:54Schultz is behind ADP. You like Schultz a lot.
84:57He's the one you get really excited about, right?
85:00I do. But you like Sadiq. Who do you prefer the two?
85:03I'd be happy with either of them. Um, Strange is also highest by ADP, but I like Schultz and Sadiq more.
85:10I get Sadiq in every single draft with Sean.
85:13I have him on almost every single team. So I would rather just take the ADP faller on Schultz, to be honest with you.
85:20Sure. Or I mean, TyJ Spears is a decent pick here.
85:23Okay. No, you don't let go. All right. Okay.
85:26We're going to go Schultz. Yeah. No, I would have been open to Schultz.
85:30That was a real... I think you like heard that as a polite but dismissive okay.
85:35That was a real like, I'm considering this. And then I looked at the clock and I was like, fuck, I have four seconds to consider this.
85:43Oh, my bad. I should have mentioned it before.
85:46I... That would have been a fine. Yeah. Just because we have Lloyd, Brooks, and Keaton Missal, I kind of think we're in really fragile territory.
85:54I mean, Kenneth Walker is our RB1. Like, TyJ Spears does the Rashad White thing for me to this build.
86:00Uh, we're not going to get him back and that's fine.
86:03You were worried about getting boxed out. I thought that was maybe an option, but...
86:08Yeah. I think Spears would have been a good pick.
86:11I think Schultz is a good pick too, though.
86:13I like Spears. Um... Yeah. It would have been a couple picks behind ADP for Spears, but it would have been...
86:20We could have pushed tight end. I think Spears was the right pick.
86:24I should have said it earlier. We had five seconds on the clock.
86:28I... Yeah. I do think we could have... Because we already have Warren.
86:31I think we could have pushed tight end too.
86:34There's been a lot of tight ends that have gone, but the drafter behind us is the only one who doesn't have one.
86:41And there's a bunch of people down here that have two already.
86:45So, like, the idea that... And, like, so Schultz, Hunter Henry, Kenyon, Sadiq, Hawkinson.
86:49I still think Friar Muth is a fine number two.
86:52Otten, Barner, Charlie Kohler. Like, there's guys that we could have played.
86:56I think Spears is probably the last for what we're looking for at running back.
87:00Unless you like Dylan Sampson. Samson might give you something similar.
87:04Yeah. I like Dylan Sampson. I think he's a good pick.
87:07I think I'm on your side now that Spears is probably the right call.
87:11And, yeah, don't... It's not just on you for not floating him earlier.
87:15I have... I have eyes to the queue. I should have seen that, too, and thought through that one.
87:21He now goes. He was never going to make it back.
87:24Yeah, we probably do need to take some... I'm not that worried about the running back early season stuff.
87:30Like, I think Lloyd is going to be a pretty easy start early season.
87:34Brooks, like, sounds like he will also be fine.
87:37And I don't think we'll need Mitchell to super early season.
87:40Dylan Sampson goes to... That's too bad. I'm going to...
87:43Yeah. The Spears thing... We're pretty much now in pure backup territory for running backs.
87:48This is one of the things where, you know, people will say collusion and stuff.
87:52Sean's always higher than me on Spears. Honest to God, the Spears thing, the reason I didn't say it earlier in the
87:59clock was it got in my head that it was like, oh, we just sniped Sean on Xavier Worthy.
88:05We'll probably snipe him on Spears here. But he didn't even take him.
88:09He took Denzel Boston. He already has six running backs.
88:12It's actually one of these things... I'm just pointing out to, like, the listeners or whatever.
88:16It's a weird dynamic. I don't want to be a dick to somebody that I, you know, draft with a lot and I like.
88:24And I felt bad about the Xavier Worthy one last time.
88:27And honest to God, the reason I was, like, so late in bringing up Spears and, like, rejecting him...
88:33Well, Sean's mentioned him to me a bunch of times and I'm always out on him.
88:38And he always says on our show, we have, you know, that I'm lower on Spears than him.
88:43But Spears was the obvious pick for this build, even though I'm lower than him on him.
88:48He was the top in my rankings. He was the last of a tier even.
88:53And I didn't bring him up because... So anyone who says, oh, we had some, you know, advantage in this draft, I'll
88:59point out that that just cost us. It absolutely just cost us.
89:03100%. The only reason that I wasn't floating him as the last in a tier was I was like, I don't want
89:10to be a dick to Sean again. And then meanwhile, Sean didn't even take him.
89:14And he probably didn't even think about taking him because he has six running backs.
89:19Yeah. Yeah. He has six RBs, four receivers at that point.
89:22Can you scroll down a little bit just so people can see the picks coming?
89:27Oh, sure. There we go. But golf goes... I'm curious, so had C-Rod made it.
89:31Like, I definitely would have given you Missal if you wanted him, especially since I talked you out of him at the previous pick.
89:38But who would have you preferred between the two?
89:41C-Rod and Keaton Mitchell? I had that same disagreement last night.
89:44I took Mitchell in that one too. I think it's kind of build dependent.
89:49And I could have seen taking Rodriguez in this build for sure.
89:52Because like a little bit more stability, whatever. The same thing as the Rashad White stuff we were talking about.
89:58I was going to ask you about White. What do you think the real ceiling is there?
90:04I think the ceiling for White is big, honestly.
90:06I really do. I know no one else agrees with me on this.
90:10And I don't think that it's like the most likely outcome, obviously.
90:14But I think that the ceiling is that their plan is JCM is our lead back.
90:19White is our receiving complement. But the expected growth that they're hoping for out of JCM as a receiver and as a pass protector does not pay off.
90:27It's a team with offensive line issues. It's a team that probably I don't expect to like be...
90:33I don't think they're going to be as bad on offense as people expect.
90:37But I don't think that they're going to be a team that is consistently playing from positive game script.
90:43And I think that they may come to value what White provides as a receiver, as a pass protector, and as a
90:49guy who allows them to run their full offense, especially in neutral or negative game script, more than what they get out of JCM.
90:56And I could see him snap consolidating and playing like 60-65% of snaps fairly early into the season and being a every week RB2.
91:04Fair enough. Pretty strong disagreement for me, but fair enough.
91:07But I'm also into JCM. Like I don't... It's a team bet.
91:10It's not like a strong White versus JCM stand.
91:13I like both, but... So the only running backs that have gone since our last pick are Spears and Samson.
91:19All of Goff, Love, Dart, and Mahomes went. That leaves...
91:22Nix is still there. It leaves Nix. It leaves Stafford, who's a solid pick just generally.
91:27And it leaves Kyler as well. And I wouldn't mind...
91:30I wouldn't be opposed to going QBQB here. Well, the one thing I was going to float that might be of interest
91:37to you or might not is I think we could really push QB2 because we have Warren and Downs.
91:42So I think adding Daniel Jones as a late QB2 would make a lot of sense.
91:47Yeah. I mean, I don't disagree, but I don't...
91:50I don't think you have to stack in the main as much as you have to in best ball at all.
91:56I don't mind it. I don't think you have to stack.
92:00I think it's more just the standpoint of... I think we bet that the Colts offense is going to be an offense you want to invest in.
92:08And if that bet is correct, then I think Jones just becomes a legitimately good quarterback pick.
92:13I mean, I disagree, I guess. I think Jones is probably a better pick on a Jonathan Taylor team.
92:19I mean, Tyler Warren and Titan Premium is very much volume-based.
92:22And Josh Downs is also going to be volume-based.
92:25And I don't think it requires Daniel Jones to be a good fantasy quarterback.
92:29I think you want more quarterback ceiling than a bunch of completions.
92:33You know? I mean... I don't... I understand your point broadly that we're on both the guys.
92:38And so there's got to be pass volume and we want, you know, reception volume and all that stuff.
92:44I'm saying, like, relative to a bet on the entire offense, this is a situation where just because we have two pass
92:50catchers, I don't think we're betting on Daniel Jones to be...
92:54We still need him to score points, but, like, differentiating QB scores, like ceiling scores, why would we need him to be
93:00a 25-plus fantasy point per game guy or scoring even 25-plus?
93:04He could easily have a 15-point game and both of our guys could get there.
93:08We'll see. Sean gets us back for the worthy pick there.
93:11It's funny. I thought he might go Kyler with Addison, but I know Sean's not a big Kyler guy.
93:17The... I think we... So Kyler is, like, a clear tear break above the rest of the quarterbacks.
93:23Maybe we take him here, but that... You don't like Stafford?
93:26I would float as big... He's gone. Oh, I missed Stafford.
93:29Okay. Then I think we should take him. I bring up Bigsby at running back, too.
93:34I have him next up. I also have Ray Davis in that group.
93:38Okay. And I also think, like, you can argue Malik Davis in this range.
93:42Okay. As a similar play. Obviously... So maybe Kyle...
93:45So is Kyler the pick would be most pissed about missing out on here?
93:49Yeah. And I think the guy on the turn could easily take him.
93:53Totally could. Okay. Let's do that first, then. The guy on the turn took Herbert last time as a faller and sort
94:00of last of a tier at QB. But that's the only QB he has.
94:04Probably won't take him. The other guy has three QBs.
94:07But... I mean, that guy just keeps drafting QBs.
94:10And he has Justin Jefferson. So it wouldn't even shock me if that guy took Kyler at this point.
94:16I missed it. Oh, Stafford went two picks ahead of us.
94:19So when Stafford, Nixon, then us... Pigsby goes one pick behind us.
94:23That sucks. Of course. Yeah. So... I don't think it's the end of the world, though.
94:27You had said you had guys at a similar tier.
94:30And I think that the guys you'd suggested make sense.
94:33We maybe should have just taken Pigsby. His ADP has been early 12 and it's the late 13.
94:39I am... I'm so rattled by the weird dynamic of this that I'm not even, like, tracking the ADP stuff.
94:45This is a... I agree with your take that this is a handicap.
94:49A one-arm-behind-the-back situation. But you gotta deal with it.
94:52It is what it is. Yeah, the Knicks pick hurts.
94:55Obviously, I don't think it was anything personal. But it still hurts, nonetheless.
94:59Sean doesn't even think about stacking very much in these.
95:02He doesn't have... Oh, I guess he does have RJ Harvey.
95:05He probably liked that stack. It wouldn't have even been a stacking thing.
95:09It's just like he... The stack is a bonus.
95:12But he also just would have been clearly my top quarterback, even without having Kyler.
95:16I definitely think, though, even though Bigsby going hurts, Tyler Schock just went off the board, which to me confirms that Kyler
95:23Murray would probably not have made it back. So I'm happy we did what we did.
95:28Great point. So you'd mentioned Ray Davis. Another name I'd throw out is Kalen Black.
95:32I don't know how you feel about the San Francisco RB2.
95:35I have him... So I have Ray Davis, Malik Davis, and Kalen Black as the next three.
95:41I know you mentioned not... Or you didn't seem thrilled about Malik Davis, but...
95:45No, I'm open to Malik Davis. Let's do... To me, all these guys are kind of the same, right?
95:51But I think Ray is the one who has the best profile in a vacuum.
95:55So let's do Ray. Yeah. He's your top? He'd be my top.
95:59He's my top. Easy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. That's what I thought you were saying, too.
96:04Okay, cool. I'm going to cut you off. Yeah.
96:06No. Yeah, I was just saying I don't think Ray Davis is that different than Tank Bigsby.
96:11So to your point, that Tyler Shuck went as a QB2 on the turn, like, yeah, probably Kyler would have gone.
96:18Although that guy has Jordan Tyson. I don't know.
96:20Maybe he's a Saint fan. But it does feel like, you know, the possibility that he was going to go QB at the turn was there.
96:28And Kyler Ray Davis is nice. I like the Daniel Jones pick a lot now.
96:33Sorry. I thought we could... I thought you were talking about, like, playing for Daniel Jones versus the possibility of going, like,
96:40Nick's Kyler at that turn was something that I was like, I wanted to have...
96:44At the 13-14 turn, that kind of QB upside to me would be really meaningful.
96:49I wasn't trying to poo-poo the idea that Daniel Jones makes sense in this build entirely.
96:53But I don't think we, like, made such a big bet on the Colts through two lower ADOT receptions-based receivers that we may not even play together every...
97:02Like, Downs isn't even technically a starter for the way that, like, our build went.
97:06No. So, we can start him. And obviously, we will start him at times.
97:11But... Probably an early season starter, like, depending on how quickly Brooks becomes a starter for us.
97:16But you get what I was saying there, right?
97:19It wasn't that, like... I do get what you were saying.
97:22I think I still probably prefer the quarterback-running back Jones-later versus quarterback-quarterback.
97:26But... Okay. I don't know. It's a tight margin.
97:28And obviously, it became not really a decision the way it went anyway.
97:32But, yeah. The Knicks one stings. I love Bo Nix this year.
97:36And it would have been a bonus to have him on the team that we have Waddle.
97:41But I like Kyler, too. This is probably making fun.
97:44I'm glad we went Kyler first because I think that's, like...
97:47Kyler, to me, is probably my least favorite of the tier.
97:51But he is firmly in the tier, at least, with Knicks and Stafford and Dart and Love and, like, all the guys that went in that round.
97:59Once you get past him, then it's, like, Baker, Shock, Daniel Jones.
98:02That's a teardrop. So, I'm really glad we got Kyler, at least.
98:06Had we passed on him for Bigsby... Like, Kyler Ray Davis is way better than Tank Bigsby.
98:11I mean, what would we have done at quarterback?
98:14Baker Mayfield? Yeah. I don't know. I mean, Mayfield's the other one.
98:18But I have Mayfield down a tier. And I have Daniel Jones up a tier than probably most people.
98:23I have them in the same tier. I do.
98:26So, I have a little transitional tier. Love is sort of the last of the earlier tier for me that Kyler's in.
98:33And then I have Baker, Malik Willis, Tyler Shuck, and Daniel Jones as a sort of transitional tier.
98:38I do like Daniel Jones as, like, he's the one that doesn't fit there for most people, probably.
98:44I do like him as the best of the group that includes Stroud, Donald, Ward, all those guys, just in a vacuum.
98:50So, the fact that we do have Downs and Warren, like, now I really hope we get Daniel Jones.
98:56Like, I want to be clear about that. I, like, because Kyler could be interesting or he could be bad.
99:02I like, you know, I... Part of my point is to win the sprint, to win the main event, to do this
99:09stuff, you do need some quarterback upside. And so, that was sort of the argument.
99:13And I don't think what you were saying is wrong, that it could exist alongside both Downs and Warren having upside.
99:20Like, obviously, stacking is a thing. I was just saying I didn't think, like, it was a massive bet on the offense
99:26to have low-A dot, you know, catch-related guys. They don't even have to score a lot of points for those guys.
99:33Like, it could be like what... This is, you know, one outcome, whatever.
99:37But it could be like what happened with the Cardinals last year, where, like, Jacoby Brissett was fine.
99:42But when he was peppering Trey McBride and Michael Wilson in late-game situations, those guys were both smashing for PPR leagues without really scoring a bunch of touchdowns.
99:50I mean, McBride was scoring. That was an extreme version of it.
99:54But, like, you could have a quarterback who's completing a lot of passes...
99:58Totally. ...to those types of players. And they're going to be great in fantasy.
100:02And it doesn't even necessarily mean that you're making a huge bet on the offense.
100:07What's sort of my point? I think that that's certainly an outcome.
100:10Like, completely is an outcome. The... Maybe the thing that I would take slight umbrage with is...
100:16I think each of Downs and Warren have volume-based paths that are not very correlated to Daniel Jones' upside.
100:21I do think when you take both, you're betting on the efficiency more so.
100:26Because, like, I think there are... Part of the volume-based, like, pure volume-based argument for Warren and Downs comes somewhat at the expense of the other.
100:33Yeah. But the way that they both smash, I think, is a little bit more reliant on efficiency.
100:39Yeah. I was too dismissive of that. You're right.
100:42It absolutely correlates the same direction. I was kind of aggressively efficient about it.
100:46I just... I really wanted to float the idea of targeting QB upside.
100:50And the whole thing is like... Some people would be like, why don't you just take Daniel Jones later, too?
100:56And, I mean, it's just tough to take three QBs and carry them in this format.
101:01So, it was kind of like, if we could get two meaningfully upside QBs at the 13-14 turn, I didn't want to pass up on that.
101:08Strictly because of the Daniel Jones thing. But you're right.
101:12You're totally right on this. I'm the one that's...
101:14No, I think it's... I think there was... I mean, it didn't end up even being possible.
101:19But I think there was definitely a good case for, like, a Bo-Kyler turn or Stafford if he had fallen.
101:25Malik Davis goes. So has Kalen Black. So has Braylon, who we didn't even talk about, but I had him in the queue.
101:32That's kind of like a tier of running back now that's been washed out.
101:37So the pick... Who are some of your favorite, like, late running backs?
101:41Yeah, I mean, like, DeMond Claiborne, Brashad Smith are fun guys that I have as targets.
101:45They're the last two targets for me on my list.
101:48Caleb Johnson makes sense on the Marshawn Lloyd team.
101:51I don't mind, like, considering Caleb Johnson. The pick that I was going to float to you is...
101:57McGowan. Because... And particularly because we have Warren and Downs.
102:00And I was just talking about, like, a meltdown scenario for the Cardinals offense leading to a lot of volume for guys like that.
102:07If something were to happen to JT, does that mean that this offense becomes, you know, a lot more pass-heavy and a lot more short targets?
102:15I think definitely it does, right? It has to.
102:17So we're kind of already bet on that. And then, yeah, I mean, I have a ton on Taylor already, but the
102:24Warren-Downs correlated ceiling is probably an anti-Jonathan Taylor bet.
102:27So why not just correlate Seth McGowan into it?
102:30I like that a lot. I forget what main it was.
102:33I think it was... I don't know. There was one of these drafts that I did, I think, with Ryan Heath.
102:39And we had done kind of a similar thing where I think we had Devonta Smith, and then we took Bigsby, and
102:46I'd made a similar point in that direction. I think the McGowan pick makes a ton of sense.
102:51Other names in the queue, you'd mentioned Richard Smith.
102:54You'd mentioned my guy Caleb Johnson, who is, like, weirdly negatively correlated in some ways with Marshawn Lloyd, but in some ways
103:01very positively correlated because they both obviously get way better if you assume a bearish outcome for Josh Jacobs.
103:06And then similar picks to Claiborne. I threw Nick Singleton into the queue.
103:10I've thrown Catron, Fatman, Allen into the queue. So McGowan goes 16-09.
103:14Caleb goes 17-09. But obviously to go... I think McGowan is a clear pick first to me.
103:19Oh, yeah. No, sure. I was saying, is that the turn?
103:23Because we have Walker, Lloyd, Brooks, Mitchell, and Davis.
103:25So Sean takes Pat Bryant there. The other guy here is Trey Harris.
103:29We have six receivers. Lamb Waddle. I'm just adding him into the queue as he said that.
103:34Yeah. Nice. Lamb Waddle, Adunze, Downs, Lemon. Worthy. We don't necessarily need a wide receiver seven here, but I don't mind that.
103:41But are we worried about McGowan going at the turn?
103:44Not super, but like anyone can kind of go.
103:47The other name I'd throw out too that's similar to Trey Harris would be Pat Friermuth as a third tight end, who I like as a value here.
103:55Me too. And then we might just want to take Daniel Jones.
103:59So what do you think positionally? I'm going to throw this to you.
104:03We only have 20 seconds. What do you think positionally?
104:06Okay, I think one running back, and then I would personally be quarterback or pass catcher with the other pick.
104:12Okay, let's take McGowan and then talk through the other side of that.
104:16But I could be talked into running back. What's that?
104:19You could be talked into it. Oh, I just said I could be talked into running back.
104:24Yeah. I think with Walker has never been the picture of health.
104:28Lloyd and Brooks are your two and three. Keaton Mitchell's your four.
104:31I mean, Ray Davis and Seth McGowan as handcuffs for first round running backs.
104:35I mean, if they were to work into actual roles because of injury or whatever, it may be very needed.
104:41It may be pretty necessary. So I thought running back was the position that felt most important to address first.
104:48Is Daniel Jones going to go ahead of? So he goes in the late 18th.
104:52So yeah, normally he wouldn't. This room has me a little spooked just because you have the three quarterback drafter at 11.
104:59That's essentially just taking a quarterback off the board that would not normally go.
105:03You have a Lamar Jackson drafter who frequently normally Lamar team sometimes doesn't even take a backup.
105:08He took Jaden Daniels. You have a bunch of other teams.
105:11In recent drafts, Daniel Jones has been going 1809.
105:14We would pick again at 1710 at the next turn.
105:17We'd still be taking him a full round before ADP.
105:20Yeah. If somebody takes him more than a round before ADP, I'm kind of inclined to be like, fine, we'll just roll with Kyler.
105:27Are you not inclined to do that? I'm trying to think through that right now.
105:32I guess my point would be that I would not be that surprised if he went more than a round ahead of
105:39ADP in this specific draft because of some of the weird quarterback dynamics.
105:43But I don't know if that's necessarily that bad.
105:45Like we have a... Okay, so the only drafters that only have one quarterback are a Drake May drafter and a Josh Allen drafter.
105:53Would not be a surprise if the Josh Allen drafter doesn't invest in quarterback two at all.
105:58The May drafter, we'll see. We do have Baker as cover.
106:01He usually goes ahead of Daniel Jones. So I think my conclusion would be pushing it makes sense as long as there's
106:08something that's worth it to push for. And what do we think that would be?
106:12Harris is now gone. Yeah, as long as there's something that's worth...
106:16Is the right point. It's what I was just thinking through.
106:19Harris was what was worth it. And arguably should have been the pick before McGowan because I think McGowan would have came around.
106:26And Harris would have been a really nice wide receiver seven on this build.
106:30And this guy has Herbert. And I did see that.
106:33But I... I didn't... I was like, whatever. If Harris goes, we have other picks that we want to make.
106:39Is Fryer Muth worth it to you? Or not?
106:42I mean, Fryer Muth is good enough to take.
106:45But I don't... I mean, I would be down to take Jones over him.
106:49It's one of those two. That's where I was going with it.
106:53I also think it's one of those two. And I have like a very minimal preference.
106:58All right. We're going to do Fryer Muth. We're going to let 80...
107:02Oh, I just clicked. Sorry. We're going to let 80 break the tie.
107:05I was just going to say, I think I'd prefer Fryer Muth.
107:09So... Yeah. He goes a few picks after this.
107:12This is right around where he goes. Again, Daniel Jones goes more than a full round after our next pick.
107:18Baker Mayfield still on the board. Stroud, Darnold, a lot of those guys that can go ahead of Daniel Jones too.
107:24There's no lock that Daniel Jones will go ahead of them.
107:28Baker has fallen behind ADP. So I agree with you on the room, but at the same time, the drafters haven't necessarily acted that way yet.
107:35There's a possibility that Darnold, that those guys would go.
107:38And then, you know, as far as if people do consider Daniel Jones for stacking reasons, the fact that we have two of his players also limits...
107:47The only team that... The team that you would think would consider him for stacking reasons is the Pierce team, but he's already got two quarterbacks.
107:54So I don't feel super worried about the Pierce team taking him.
107:58Seagulls are on the clock down. I wonder if you want to Fryer Muth there.
108:03He's a known Fryer Muth fan. He takes Baker.
108:05He takes Baker. That makes sense. He needed a QB2.
108:08So the only quarterback... The only one quarterback teams now left are the May drafter and the Allen drafter.
108:14Neither of whom have Colts, but neither of them have Seahawks or really anyone else with a notable quarterback in the mix either.
108:21So who knows? We'll see. I'll tell you what I'm going to do is after this, I'm going to call Sean and
108:28get the debrief on his whole side of this.
108:30Kind of fascinating. It doesn't make for great radio that I'm so concerned about another drafter in the room.
108:36This would have been a better one for behind the paywall, but c'est la vie.
108:41Why don't we recap the whole team? Um, yeah.
108:43So we started off way back, uh, with Ken Walker and CeeDee Lamb.
108:47Then Tyler Warren is our tight end one. So a bit of a rainbow start running back wide receiver tight end.
108:54Um, I get my guy Jalen Waddle at the 403.
108:57Uh, and then we had an interesting kind of positional debate, I think at the 510 where Roma Dunse was the clear
109:03last receiver for each of us at the receiver tier.
109:06Um, but we were also contemplating Bucky or Tootin.
109:09We hoped maybe one of them would push around.
109:12They did not. That led to, um, an interesting discussion at the 603 where we aggressively took Marshawn Lloyd.
109:18Um, now is set to play a pretty important early season role, at least on this team.
109:23We come back with Jonathan Brooks, another big upside swing at the running back position at the 710.
109:28And then we started pissing. We go Josh Downs at eight, Makai Lemon at nine.
109:33And then we had a, uh, uh, a bit of a mid draft crisis on the clock at the 10th round where
109:39we debated between a bunch of different running backs.
109:42We couldn't agree. Uh, and then we went with the consensus wide receiver six, Xavier Waddle.
109:47Worthy. He's our last receiver might be our only might be our last receiver.
109:51And then, uh, Keaton, one of the running backs we discussed at that 10th round comes all the way back.
109:57So we grabbed him at 11. Uh, we took Dalton Schultz to 10 and two in 12.
110:02And then Kyler as our QB one followed by Ray Davis, Seth McGowan.
110:06And we just took Pat Fryer. How are you feeling so far?
110:10I know it's been a bit of a weird draft, but how do you feel about the team overall?
110:16I don't, I like the team. Uh, the, the Lloyd pick was tough.
110:20I think the biggest criticism that could be levied was taking Lloyd so far ahead of ADP.
110:25Uh, mostly because we had already taken Henderson together.
110:28I think, I mean, arguably we should have just taken Ramondre Stevenson as a play off of that, or, or should have
110:34just taken Jalen Warren, um, as just a little bit more of a stable RB2.
110:39I don't mind that type of a pick in the sixth round, especially with Jonathan Brooks as, you know, a little bit
110:45of a tricky pick in the seventh. Knowing that after the fact, I think, you know, Ramondre with Jonathan Brooks as a,
110:52a pairing for RB2 would have been pretty interesting.
110:55Uh, I really liked the receivers. Lamb, Waddle, Adunze, Downs, Lemon, and Worthy is a really interesting receiver room.
111:01It's not as deep as it could have been.
111:03Like maybe if we grab Trey Harris or whatever.
111:06And then, I mean, with the running backs, like getting both Ray Davis and Seth McGowan, like we do still have running back ceiling.
111:13I will say this has not come together as well as really any other draft I've done this year, which is not
111:20like, you know, it is what it is, but I would just bluntly say that.
111:24I don't love the way that it's come together, uh, in terms of we're picking at the end.
111:30We're picking right behind somebody that we pick a lot.
111:33Like, and like in a lot of cases has taken players, uh, in front of us that we would have been interested in.
111:40Um, and yeah, it's just been tricky for us to kind of get through the guys that we actually want and make the decisions we want to make.
111:48I'm not like trying to make excuses or whatever, but it's, it is what it is.
111:53We have Warren Schultz and Fryermuth at tight end.
111:56Kyler is our only QB. There's like, uh, a lack of coherence with some of the build for me that I, I usually don't have.
112:03I don't, I usually don't like have that as a, as an issue.
112:07It's been harder for me to stay as engaged with the draft.
112:11I wasn't staying as engaged with ADP or even with my own rankings for a bit there.
112:16Um, which is whatever, like, I'm not, you know, I'm not like trying to sound like I'm having a meltdown over it.
112:23I'm really not. I'm just saying, like, I think you could criticize the build some, and I would take that criticism fairly
112:29because, um, I don't necessarily love every decision that we made, but I, I think it's a good team still.
112:36Does that make sense? It's kind of weird how I'm talking.
112:39No, it totally makes sense. Um, but I'm trying to figure out or sorry, maybe I'll make, maybe I'll, I'll make the
112:45first point I was going to make first, which is, so if anyone who's listening to this prop, um, is part of
112:52the long view Patreon and you listened to our first main event that we drafted together, the two of us, I thought
112:59that was, uh, I mean, we both said this where we thought that we executed a plan effectively, and we also benefited
113:05from good luck in the second half of the draft.
113:08Um, where everything went exactly the way we wanted it to.
113:12It was, it was the cleanest draft I've had all year.
113:15The other one, just to be clear. Right. Yeah.
113:18So that was, that was one where like we, the big theme of that draft is we pushed tight end really far.
113:25We threw 10 rounds. We had four running backs and six receivers, which is a, a build that is, is interesting.
113:31And then what happened over the latter half of the draft was basically every time that we wanted someone to fall to us to make our build work.
113:39They just did. And we had a lot of like very easy picks that where we both agreed and the guy was there and it fit our build.
113:48And like, what happened kind of worked perfectly. What happened several times is we had two guys.
113:53We decided between picked one and then the other one came back repeatedly.
113:57And it was like, okay, great. Like we just decided between McGowan and Harris, Harris would have came back on our other draft every time.
114:04And it was like, all right, this is cool.
114:07We'll just take them both. And this has been, this is, I guess the one time where that did happen to us
114:14was Keaton, where we almost took him in 10 and then he came back to us in 11.
114:19But outside of that, it's been like, like it's almost been comical to the degree that, which that hasn't happened.
114:25Like we talked about Terrence Ferguson instead of Makai Lemon.
114:28And then we only had to dodge four picks between our next pick and Terrence Ferguson goes.
114:33We talked about, oh, maybe we'll get one of Tootin or Bucky back.
114:37And they didn't. We talked about, maybe we'll get like Tank Bigsby back.
114:41And he goes immediately after, like it's been, it's been a reversal of fortune.
114:46And so that obviously makes it feel less clean.
114:48I, I'm trying to figure out like Herbert. After we took Keaton, he went at the turn.
114:53Yep. Some of those guys were bound to go.
114:56Probably the Bucky and Tootin ones, I think were, were, you know, I mentioned it's just kind of a last of a tier.
115:03We had three guys, like they weren't all going to come back.
115:07Herbert's another one that was falling a little, but yeah, it has been that way.
115:11That's, I think that's really well put, especially relative to our last draft.
115:15The Waddle pick after we took Warren to have, you know, Zay and Wilson.
115:19I mean, I know you're really happy that we landed on Waddle and I am too, that I have a Waddle team with you.
115:27But that was just another one. The guys behind us have been certainly drafting some similar players to ones we like.
115:33Drafting right out of our queue all day. Yep.
115:36We have, and then the guy in front of us, I don't know how he knows the players that we like, but
115:42we have, we have, we are on deck. Uh, I'm guessing Sean's not going to take Daniel Jones.
115:48One of the guys behind us has three QBs.
115:51The other one has Herbert and Shuck. None, neither of them have any Colts as I was looking through.
115:56I think we could push him around the turn.
115:59Do we need to, or like. If we were going to push him for anything to me, it'd be defense or kicker.
116:06Actually. Oh, Sean, Sean just sniped me. I took your kicker.
116:09That's exactly who I was going to suggest. So do you, how much do you care about any of these running backs?
116:16My ideal turn in a vacuum would be Jones and the Philadelphia Eagles defense, but I'm very open to being sold by
116:22you on a running back or a receiver. If there's one, well, I think DeMond Claiborne is a really interesting pick for this build.
116:30Sure. Let's add another guy. And I actually think Brashard Smith is even more interesting.
116:34If he hits on a Walker, Jack McKinnon role, like if we have some fragility, he could be our RB too.
116:41Cause we have like handcuffs. Like he could do the, he could do the Dylan Samson thing.
116:46Who do you like more to Smith or Claiborne?
116:48And do you want to click them first and push Jones or take Jones first and then decide on a running back?
116:55I want to take Smith. Okay. Let's take Smith.
116:58Would you be devastated if Jones went? We'll find out.
117:01We still had eight seconds. I was, I didn't, yeah, I wasn't trying to completely finalize that, but I actually, I talked
117:07myself into the thesis for Smith being pretty optimistic and I, I would be shocked if Jones goes.
117:13No QBs went in the last two turns. If this guy goes to the third QB, it could even be like a Darnold.
117:20Like there's no one has gone since Mayfield. I wouldn't be devastated.
117:23I wouldn't be devastated if Jones went, I mean, quarterbacks get caught in this once you start getting into injuries and stuff.
117:30And if we have to start out with Kyler, it's like, it is what it is.
117:35Um, and you, you'd mentioned Claiborne who you're interested in.
117:38I'd be hoping open to him. If Jones goes, um, I'd be open to the defense of Jones goes.
117:44So I'm not that I would like Jones if he's there, I think, but I'm not going to be devastated.
117:50One of the tricky things about the Rashard Smith pick is I forgot that we have Kenneth Walker on this team.
117:56So just, I did float that. I did float that.
117:59Uh, but then you still seem to do it.
118:02So sorry. I was pretty into this idea that he could have standalone role, but if he has a standalone role, then
118:09it's really dramatically hurting our, our, our number one.
118:11Although he is path to a standalone role. Definitely rockets up if Walker got hurt.
118:16So there's a little bit of a handcuff. To are arguably, this is the type of team we're handcuffing.
118:22I mean, it's a little bit of an awkward handcuff.
118:25Cause like we don't have Emmett Johnson is probably the much better handcuff, but it's arguably a handcuff friendly team because we are so thin a running back.
118:33If Walker's not doing it for us that, that like at least having someone who could potentially keep us afloat might be helpful.
118:40Agreed. And the way that Smith scores, he, I think there's scenarios where you could play Walker and Smith.
118:46Cause what like Smith was doing the 30% targets per out thing when he only ran like a hundred routes last year.
118:52If he's actually in a role like that, like there was, there was like startable fantasy viability for Jarek McKinnon.
118:58And also, um, and we're clicking Daniel Jones here, right?
119:02Your D actually went, which I don't. My D goes.
119:05So it's really Jones or it's Claiborne, but I think we should take Jones.
119:09Yeah. Let's take Jones. All we have is Kyler.
119:11I think we are very invested in, in the Colts path now with, with Downs and Warren and McGowan.
119:17And I think Jones makes a ton of sense.
119:20It does. It does mean that, yeah, we're kind of doing the last D and kicker thing.
119:25Cause it'll be the 1920 turn. And that's not ideal.
119:28I actually like. I didn't even realize that was, so we're not, we're, yeah, we can't click Claiborne.
119:34So it was, it was going to be, yeah, we were never getting, we were never getting a QB two in both of the running backs.
119:41I didn't actually even realize that, but yeah. And the trick, I liked your idea of going, of going kicker or D first.
119:48I almost always do that. In this case, Jones could go, he could, you know, fairly easily go still Smith was the,
119:55the, the, um, luxury pick that we took there.
119:58I, I, I still like it even with the Walker thing.
120:01I still really like it because of what I was, yeah, I was just trying to say it was like in an
120:08offense is good that we're, people aren't even drafting the wide receivers and stuff.
120:12There's the possibility of like there being a passing down, uh, running back that has real value.
120:17And that still, I mean, not that it wouldn't affect Kenneth Walker ceiling, but it's still not really making it a huge deal for Kenneth Walker.
120:25I'm trying to find the year where I know Jerick McKinnon had the nine TD receptions.
120:30I think Pacheco was the number one. That was 20, this is the year two or 2023.
120:35So Pacheco only had 960 yards. He was a rookie that year.
120:39Uh, only had five touchdowns as well. McKinnon kind of crushed his value or no, sorry.
120:43He was in his, yeah, no, he was a rookie.
120:46Um, and that, that wouldn't be the ideal. You'd want, but that's maybe what happens if Walker's out is one of the
120:53things where like Emmett Johnson's playing the Pacheco. But anyway, I was just thinking that they could be playable alongside each other.
121:00Do you think that's even feasible or is that crazy?
121:03Um, I think it's not likely, but it's definitely plausible.
121:06Um, I mean, I've expressed a lot of doubt about the receiver room.
121:10Um, and I mean, you've been, you've been imploring me to articulate like paths in which the targets go places that aren't Rashi Rice.
121:17You know, maybe, maybe one of those paths is they like, they do a little bit of what we're hoping the chargers do, right?
121:24Like maybe Walker and one of Johnson or Smith, um, can do a facsimile of what we're expecting Hampton and Mitchell to do.
121:31Um, that's, that's maybe like a slight possibility. I don't think it's that likely, but I mean, you know, where you don't
121:38find things that are likely to pay off is round 17.
121:41So, um, I think it's, it's a perfectly plausible pick there for sure.
121:45And he does have the type of profile, like you've mentioned where he could have fantasy value on a very limited snap diet.
121:52My, my thesis has largely been that I don't think he's going to play.
121:56And I think that Walker is just going to do all the stuff they did with Smith last year, which I think
122:03we'd be fine with because we invested the one 10 and Kenneth Walker.
122:07But if that's wrong, then that's definitely, there's definitely a path for Smith.
122:11I'm like, that's great. If that's the case, that's awesome.
122:14We just cut Brashard Smith. I mean, he's our first cut.
122:17That's our preference. Yeah. Our preference is Kenneth Walker is scoring 21 points per game and we cut our round 17 pick,
122:24which is what you do to your round 17 pick like 80% of the time at some point anyway.
122:30So that's fine. I'm, I'm curious. Um, I'll ask you first, then I'll take a stab at it.
122:35So like, we both agree that it's a, a, a quality team, but a team that has been a little bit on
122:42easy now with the complete benefit of hindsight. If there's a pick you would change, what would the pick be?
122:48Ty's a Spears over Dalton Schultz is a very clear one in the, in the 12th round.
122:53Yeah. I don't hate Dalton Schultz, but especially after we got Pat Fryermuth in the 16th, I think we could have been fine with just Warren and Fryermuth.
123:01I don't even think we need a third tight end.
123:04We're kind of almost roster clogging to a degree with the three tight ends.
123:09We may find out, we may, we may find ourselves cutting Fryermuth.
123:12Uh, I mean, I think Schultz is going to be very like playable and flexible, but we also have, um, wow.
123:19I never realized flexible is, you know, he flex worthy, flexible with an a with an a, um, we have the six earlier wide receivers.
123:26I mean, I think, you know, Xavier worthy is going to be flexible.
123:30He's going to be flex worthy. Cause he's Xavier worthy.
123:33Um, Josh down, Rome, a dunze, a Jalen Waddle, CD lamb.
123:37Like we can easily play four receivers from that group.
123:40And so the idea that we would even need to like really flex Schultz is a little bit dubious.
123:45I mean, it's great to have other flex options.
123:48Anything can happen obviously. Um, but I am concerned about the running back room with, uh, Walker Lloyd Brooks, Mitchell, especially if
123:55Brooks and Mitchell are like not great early in the year.
123:58And maybe like, we, we don't get the role that we think with Lloyd, maybe Chris Brooks plays a lot, like 50%
124:05of the snaps, you know, and he's playing on all the pass downs.
124:09Maybe Josh Jacobs gets reinstated. I mean, who knows what's going to happen.
124:13Right. So, and then all we have behind that is Ray Davis and Seth McGowan.
124:17I mean, that's part of why I'm still actually pretty excited about the Brashard Smith pick is like, at least we can
124:24reinforce the Walker pick to a certain degree. Um, I know it doesn't, it's not a clean handcuff as you said, but
124:30I, I think running back is the position where I, you know, I think our roster needs to spend the most resources.
124:37And so flipping one would be flipping one toward a running back pick.
124:41And I think the Schultz for Ty J Spears one is fairly straightforward.
124:45I think that's the, that's like the obvious one.
124:48I'll, I'll like, I'll throw out one that I'm not even sure I believe, but is higher up the board because I
124:54do think Ty J Spears helps us at the margins.
124:57I don't think he fundamentally changes the team because he's Ty J Spears.
125:01Um, sure. I, I think in hindsight, we should have not taken Tyler Warren.
125:05Um, I think five, six turn is like foreseeably rough.
125:08And I think I would like this team better.
125:11If we go wide receiver, wide receiver at the three, four, we take our tight end instead of Lloyd.
125:17And then we hammer running back more aggressively in rounds eight through 11.
125:21I like that. And you were trying to talk about that early and I didn't really listen to it.
125:27I like that a lot. It's a good, I mean, so you're basically saying like Garrett Wilson and Laporta would, or Rashid
125:33Rice and Laporta as a two V two for Warren and Lloyd.
125:37And I think that's, and then we probably hit like at the events, at least two of those downs were the lemon
125:44picks, like one or two of those become running backs probably in that scenario.
125:48Um, we are up. Uh, I like the Tampa defense.
125:51Um, Ruben Bain, they get the Bengals week one, and then they get the Browns week two.
125:56So I really liked the Ravens D have we talked about that?
126:00Do we want to start them against two Colts pass catchers?
126:03We could, I guess that's not actually that empty correlated.
126:06That's fine. Cause then you're playing amazing matchups in five of the six after that.
126:10What did you say? Let's do that. I actually think it's positive.
126:14I think it's fine to play them against Warren and downs because you're hoping the Ravens get up right.
126:20And then the Colts have to pass. Yeah. I mean, pass volume does work.
126:24I don't know that we're even starting downs necessarily week one.
126:27Are we? I think we probably are. Are we starting Brooks week one?
126:31That seems sketchy. Yeah, it probably is positively correlated though.
126:34After you say that, um, I, I really liked the Ravens because we don't have to sit there and get into the, the weekly battles.
126:42Week two is a good matchup at home against the saints week four, five, and six are all like really nice ones.
126:49The Titans are in there. The Browns are in there.
126:52Um, the week three, one is at Dallas, which you're going to get past volume.
126:56And the Ravens might just have a really good defense is they have Trey Hendrickson.
127:01They have a bunch of dudes now and Jesse Minter's taking over.
127:04Yeah. I'm pretty into them. I don't care what we do at kicker.
127:08If you have a, um, probably I probably go McLaughlin.
127:11My usual kicker is Reichard. He just went and I don't like to take the kicker on the same team as our quarterback.
127:18So let's do McLaughlin. If that's all right with you.
127:21It is to see hit long fuels. He does, right?
127:24Yeah, he does. He's a pretty good kicker. And Todd Bowles is super conservative on fourth down stuff.
127:30Okay. Cool. So Baltimore McLaughlin finished the team. Kyler and Daniel Jones are the QBs.
127:34Ken Walker, Marshawn Lloyd, Jonathan Brooks, Keaton Mitchell, Ray Davis, Seth McGowan, Brashard Smith are the running backs.
127:40Lamb, Waddle, Adunze, Downs, Lemon, Worthy, the receivers. Warren, Schultz, Fryermuth, the tight ends.
127:44I do think Lloyd is, as actually, now that you asked, like I answered the question about Schultz and Spears.
127:50Which Lloyd's, like the, I mean, I don't want to say like the layup, obviously.
127:55I mean, I think you're right. Like that's the pick that we struggled with the most.
127:59That's the pick that immediately after taking it, it was like, man, we took a guy really high.
128:05I don't even know that I like, I was the one that was kind of driving the train to take the Lloyd pick.
128:12And I don't even know that I like support even valuing him that high necessarily.
128:16I mean, I've moved him up in my ranks and that was part of the thought there, but I didn't even have
128:23him ahead of Henderson in my ranks, but we took Henderson together.
128:27So the, I mean, the very strong answer, especially because we got Brooks to come all the way back to 710, which
128:33is like kind of a similar play. The very strong answer is if we could change 603 to like anything else, even
128:40if it was our second tight end as Laporta, then we could have taken TyJ Spears where we took Schultz a lot more comfortably.
128:47I think then we would have Warren Laporta and Spears.
128:50I mean, I would rather take Laporta Spears than Lloyd Schultz.
128:54I mean, there's, there's a lot of two V twos that the Lloyd thing can work off of.
128:59The other one I was going to say was a Dunze actually.
129:03Yeah. And that tier was, that was cute. We could have went Bucky.
129:07We should have just got Bucky. And then if a Dunze goes, we, we just, even if we didn't take Laporta as
129:13a second tight end, cause I was kind of anti that.
129:17And I wish I wouldn't have been, I was kind of.
129:20I was being dumb there. I, I don't love taking those court, those tight ends, but I don't, I'm not out on Laporta.
129:27I think that Lions offense is going to be really fun, really concentrated.
129:31I would have loved to get a share of Laporta.
129:34I don't really know why I was, I was just a little bit thrown there.
129:38Regardless, if we went Bucky first, that was the V that's the right one.
129:43Not the Warren pick. We should have just gone Bucky.
129:46And if Rome didn't come back, we just treat one of the tight ends like a receiver.
129:51We just treat one of the tight ends like a receiver.
129:54If we take Laporta or what I was going to say is even if I was like annoying about Laporta for whatever
130:01reason, if we got stuck taking a receiver, I would be more happy having pulled up the other receivers at the end
130:07of that round where Godwin and Harrison, and then Stribling went early seventh.
130:11He's kind of tricky, but I think I would have been more happy having pulled up Godwin or Harrison at 603 than Lloyd at 603 in hindsight, obviously.
130:20But yeah, do you think we also, I mean, I don't know how much you value, like we already took him in
130:26the main event, but would Hendo as an RB three with Bucky instead of Hendo as an RB to be more comfortable?
130:33Yeah, I guess I didn't realize he wanted Hendo that bad.
130:36I would have been fine with Hendo as an RB two over Lloyd.
130:40I just felt like, cause we already took him at a much better price and we're only really doing a couple of
130:47teams together that it didn't make sense to, cause the vibes on Hendo were so off.
130:52But I, I, I wish, yeah, I wish I had a...
130:55I don't hate the Lloyd pick. Like I, I know it was uncomfortable and I think it was like, I guess the
131:02way that I would view the Lloyd pick is that I think that it was a completely defensible and arguably even optimal
131:08pick based on like kind of unfortunate circumstances that led to that pick.
131:12Like, and, and so that's why I wasn't saying like we should have changed the Lloyd pick necessarily.
131:18It's more like without Warren, we probably go tight end over Lloyd or like if we take Bucky, we probably look at other positions over Lloyd.
131:26Like I think once we had made the Warren and a Doonesay picks, I think the Lloyd pick does make sense.
131:32And I also don't want to like doom and gloom over the Lloyd pick.
131:36Like it's, it's quite possible. He's just awesome. I agree with all that.
131:40I think that's a great call. Uh, like, yeah, I mean, that's the point of the Lloyd pick is like Marshall Lloyd had a really good prospect profile.
131:49That's a run-based offense. They've been talking him up for years.
131:52I know he always gets hurt, but at camp last year, he was getting talked up a ton.
131:57The reason we've talked about him in fantasy so much over the last few years is a, the profile has been really
132:04strong and B it's a long view profile for sure.
132:07And then B the Packers have been really enamored with him multiple years in a row.
132:12And now they have a Josh Jacobs issue. If Lloyd just takes off and is really, really good, why would they not roll with that?
132:20And Chris Brooks is a very, as you've talked about the reason that you're really optimistic about Caleb Johnson.
132:25We agree on Chris Brooks. I was doing some long look.
132:29He's a guy too. He's just a guy. He's going to play on pass downs, but they're going to throw to Lloyd.
132:35They did Lloyd in a little angle route over the middle and he caught a TD in the preseason.
132:41Like it's not like it's going to be just Chris Brooks who gets all the receiving work.
132:46They're going to do some route stuff with Lloyd on early downs too.
132:50He's going to catch a few passes. I mean, he, he's not going to get the full Josh Jacobs role because of
132:57the injury history, because of that stuff. But as the season progresses, if he stays healthy and looks good and is able
133:03to handle like a lot of work, I mean, the question is just, can he stay healthy?
133:09Can he do all that stuff? But like, yeah, guys aren't healthy until they are.
133:13I mean, it is, it is possible. And if he is again, we're talking about a really good offense run-based team.
133:19We got him at the 603 and he could play like a round two guy.
133:24That's the point of that type of pick right in the, in the dead zone or whatever is like, can the guy
133:31produce like a round two running back? And I think Marshawn Lloyd very well could adjust.
133:35Jacobs career for all we know could just be over at this point.
133:39That's what happened to like the Ray Rice stuff, right?
133:42Like it's, and part of it is like, where are you at in your career?
133:47Cause we all know that like there's rules exceptions for better players, but Josh Jacobs has played for a really long time.
133:54He's an older back. He's taken a lot of work and he may get kind of blackballed because of that.
134:00And it's just kind of the way that these things happen, unfortunately, but realistically.
134:04Um, and anyway, I, I think the, the, the upside part that you were just driving home about Lloyd is, is very valid.
134:11And I like that because I am kind of like feeling sour about it, but it's not a, it's not a pick to feel sour about.
134:19The reason I haven't ranked so high and all that is, is, you know, having more time to think about it than
134:25just the amount of time we had on the clock.
134:28Feel really good about the, the, the bet, even if it is aggressive to rank him there, the Henderson thing.
134:34When we had talked and you've expressed before, you wanted to get him at better prices because you hadn't been able to bet on the market.
134:42And I think you've made this point very well on the show.
134:46The market has not reflected the like social media FUD on him.
134:50And what you've seen over the last couple of weeks, as we've talked about Stevenson, start to flip in some of your mains and those things.
134:57And so for me, it was like, even though Lloyd wound up being an even bigger reach, it was like, I was
135:04thinking kind of in my head that you weren't really pushing for Henderson at a 603 price.
135:09We got him later. We got him after Stevenson and our other one, the Lloyd decision was sort of like, we don't
135:16have to decide whether to take Stevenson over Henderson or take Henderson over Stevenson.
135:20Or how to, for me, the other one was Warren really kind of on the clock was like, do we just take Warren?
135:27But I've gotten Warren in a bunch of means too.
135:30So it's, there was a little bit of an exposure thing for me.
135:34Um, and I mean, that's a little bit of a reach for Warren too.
135:38It's 603 where he usually goes, you can get him to fall.
135:42All I've seen loin go Lloyd go really high, but I, that's, that was another part of it for me too.
135:48It was a little bit of bias to seeing somebody else take him.
135:52I was in the draft where he went 60, which is his high very recently, whatever it was the last day or two.
135:59Uh, and so that threw me off a little bit too.
136:03I was like, he's going, you know, five, six turn for some people, but I don't think that's actually the case.
136:09He's gone. He's got as late as like our next pick at seven 10.
136:13He's gone as late as like the late, uh, into the eighties in the last few days too.
136:19So there was a, you know, there's certainly a reach there on Lloyd.
136:22Um, but his, his average ADP was not as low as 80.
136:26It was about 72, which is about the 610.
136:29We took our 612. We took him at the 603.
136:32We took him about nine picks early. It's a reach, but it's not like, it's a range that we all agree sucks.
136:39Yes. That was the part of it when we were on the clock that I was saying was like, I'm comfortable reaching
136:45here because we don't want anybody at cost or faller or whatever.
136:49There is no faller. And we basically don't agree on any of the, uh, of the picks being, well, we, we agree
136:55that none of the picks are good. And so it was, you know, I think we both liked Lloyd enough to take him.
137:02So anyway, a fascinating, fascinating, I'm glad that we did not do Ramondre or Warren.
137:07Um, I think that the, there, that, that was, that was never in consideration for, for me at least.
137:13I mean, obviously if you had pounded the table for one of them, I would have heard you out for sure.
137:19Um, but to me, the pick was either we go tight end, but if we go running back, I think we take
137:26a swing and that's Lloyd or, or Henderson. Um, and the way that, the way that Brooks came back to us, I'm
137:32happy actually that we did Lloyd because I think that we took two big swings at running back.
137:38I get that's fragility. Like out of all the teams I've drafted this year, I mean, this is going to sound mean,
137:44but I don't mean it in a, in a mean to like both of us collectively.
137:49Like this would be one of the teams that it's easiest to imagine finishing 12th for sure, because we're so fragile at RB two.
137:57And we took such like speculative bets on Lloyd and Brooks and Mitchell.
138:00And we got Jalen Waddle of the fourth round.
138:03Am I right? Well, that feels pretty freaking great.
138:06Um, you know what, you know what the thing I'll say about the wall too, is I was, um, I, I, I
138:13was, I was an extremely, uh, unhelpful co-manager at the Lloyd pick.
138:16Because you gave me the Waddle pick that I was thrilled about that.
138:20I mean, we were kind of doing it. I don't know how like serious or half joking.
138:25I was like, Oh, I'll give you one. And then we took it do and say, we agreed.
138:31You're like, I'll push the six Oh three. And I was being, I know I said co-manager at six Oh three, um,
138:37where I was like, not really expressing any opinions.
138:40Um, and that was, that was probably, probably silly.
138:43Um, and then, you know, now you're kind of saying like, I don't even know really where you stood.
138:49Like, yeah, I think that the, I think that the, the, the right pick was either a tight end or a swing at running back.
138:56I don't think it was Stevenson or Warren. I don't think it was a receiver.
139:01Um, and I think with Brooks coming back, I prefer Lloyd Brooks that to Henderson Brooks, because I expect Brooks is more of a late season play.
139:09I think Lloyd is, is more of an early season play.
139:12Obviously Brooks could also be an early season play and Lloyd could also be a late season play.
139:18But I think like Henderson Brooks is a really tough combo because I think you then get into a spot where I've
139:24drafted three running backs through seven rounds. And I have no idea who I'm starting running back for the first few weeks of the season.
139:32And I think that's the kind of bet that forces really difficult decisions in later rounds, at least with Lloyd, we're playing for the fast start.
139:40We'll see if we get it. But I think that it's, I think it is actually pretty coherent.
139:45The two of them together. That I love. I love that point about the layering of the running back scoring.
139:51Um, and as we talk about this, I'm all the way back in on the Lloyd pick.
139:56The only thing I don't like about the Lloyd pick is the cost is the, is the fact that we paid it almost maximum cost.
140:04Cause in the main events, I do like to get ADP value, but to your point there, there wasn't a good ADP pick.
140:11And, and so, and I, I think Lloyd, the profile does belong there.
140:15I actually, the more that we talk about it, and especially knowing you're not really in on Stevenson or Warren.
140:21I think Lloyd was the right pick. The part of the reason I didn't want to do Henderson as well on this
140:28build was just that it's what you're getting at.
140:30It's the early season RB two point of he was RB two in round six.
140:35And you asked like, would I have liked Henderson more as RB three?
140:39And I didn't really answer that. I was just like, I didn't know you were that into Henderson, but I think the answer is yes.
140:46I would have liked Henderson more as RB three where I didn't feel like we had to start him in week two
140:53or even in week one, if he looks unhealthy.
140:56But in week two, if the week one role isn't great or whatever, we've talked about this.
141:01Neither of us really expects by like week four, Henderson is doing great.
141:05We expect all the Stevenson slappies to be victory lapping in week four.
141:09That's the bet. That's the, you, you made a great point when I said that you're like, they better be like, they,
141:15they better hope that they are like, because that's the bet they're making on Stevenson is that by week four, Stevenson looks awesome.
141:22And, and looks like he's got the work and he's getting the high percentage of, of the backfield and all the touches and all that stuff.
141:30When you're drafting Henderson, you're aware that you're going to need a little bit of a weight and a little bit of
141:37time, but it's a profile based bet. It's a hope that by the end of his second season, he breaks out.
141:43It's a little bit different position, little bit like Jackson Smith and jig Baffer, his rookie year, who had a really rocky rookie season.
141:50People made a lot of negative comments about his low eight out that rookie year.
141:55Could he even win downfield? He's so small, all of these different things.
141:59He started his second season, not doing all that much.
142:02DK Metcalf gets hurt about week seven from week seven on JSN's yards per hour run in that second season was really strong.
142:09It was like 2.3 or something. I think for his whole second season, it's like 1.8.
142:14The first six or seven games of that year, that's the year that they had Ryan Grubb.
142:19They were throwing a ton. He was running a ton of routes and he had some decent games in there, but really
142:25his second season took off on the second part of his second season when some opportunity freed up because Metcalf got hurt.
142:32And it was this profile based thing where it was like, oh, this is the profile.
142:37And a lot of people couldn't see that going into year two with JSN.
142:41It ended up being a really good second half for him.
142:45And then the point is he ends up being a superstar.
142:48He ends up being a great player in year three.
142:51That's the bet with Henderson is if he hits, he's going to hit in a way that we're taking him in the second round next year.
142:59We're taking him over multiple years as a top pick.
143:02Maybe that won't actually happen with him. It doesn't seem like the vibes are very strong with him, but that's the way
143:08that it could progress in terms of you want a ceiling outcome.
143:12You want a ceiling case. How does this work?
143:15There's uncertainty to it, but that's the way that it works.
143:18That's what it looks like. But to the point of our conversation, that's not something you can play early in the season, as you were saying.
143:26So I love that layering point that you made about him and Brooks.
143:30The other thing I was going to say about the Lloyd pick when we were on the clock, the reason I was
143:37like breaking the tie towards Lloyd as I was processing everything on the clock.
143:41And I mean, I don't think you were an unhelpful co-manager, but I had kind of said I was going to make the decision.
143:48We knew it was going to be a tough decision, whatever.
143:51You were telling me some stuff, but we were down on the clock, and I did sort of make that final decision.
143:58As I was processing what would be available to us, the strong lean for me in that spot is running back when
144:05you start one running back through five rounds. Because I don't love the wide receivers at cost.
144:10If we had taken – so I do think Bucky over a Dunesay would have been the pick in hindsight.
144:16If I could totally redo anything, I think that's the one.
144:19Because then I do think it could have opened us up to take a wide receiver there.
144:24But after taking a Dunesay, I did really feel like we need to get a running back at this turn.
144:30Because you've pointed it out, like Jonathan Brooks coming back to us at 7-10 was not a lock.
144:36And it was actually kind of a surprise. Rico Dowdle went at 7-01, and only one more running back went from between 7-01 to 7-10.
144:43It was Quorum at 7-07. There's a possibility that Jonathan Brooks could have went anywhere in the seventh.
144:49He's gone in the sixth a bunch. I've taken him in the sixth.
144:53Now, we have the soreness at practice, but for him to fall away to 7-10 was kind of nice.
144:59If he didn't – I mean, we proved at 8-03.
145:02We kind of preferred the wide receiver once we got more balanced over the next running backs.
145:07There was no running backs that went at the turn.
145:10The only receiver that we even talked about that went at the turn was Michael Wilson, but you weren't really in on him.
145:17We wound up going downs. If Brooks had gone, we maybe would have went downs anyway.
145:22We were talking about Metcalf, and he goes at 7-08 coming back to that pick, like on the way to the 7-10.
145:28So we end up taking Brooks, but the point is we went downs at 8-03, and then really the next turn, 9-10.
145:35You were okay with Rashad White. We really couldn't agree on that tier of running back.
145:40We go Makai Lemon, Xavier Worthy. It's way more comfortable to be taking wide receivers there.
145:45That's been clear with the FFPC main events all along.
145:48It's been clear, I think, in most formats that in this range, in 9-10, 11, you want to be thinking wide receiver.
145:54I wrote a piece called You Can Have Your Cake and Eat It Too that talked about this very specifically.
146:00You can still get wide receiver length into those ranges, and I think it's a clear wide receiver pick in most rooms
146:07that draft enough running backs early, where after we took Makai Lemon and Xavier Worthy, the next best or the next running
146:14backs that went were Rashad White, Mike Washington, Aaron Jones, Jonah Coleman, Emmitt Johnson, Josh Jacobs goes as a speculative pick, Woody Marks, Tyler Algier.
146:21Those guys all go at the 10-11 turnish. We end up taking Keaton Mitchell in the next round at the late 11.
146:28That's the guy I actually wanted to take over all those guys at the 10-03.
146:32And so it gets back to this thought of how are we, like I was thinking back to front when we were on the clock at 6-03.
146:41When we took a Dunes A at 5 and we were stuck at 6-03, I was thinking, I know that at 8-9-10,
146:47I'm going to prefer wide receivers almost certainly in these ranges.
146:50We already have three. If we go a different, or even pass catcher, if we go with that second tight end, I
146:57was really, that's part of why I was rejecting your tight end comments like so kind of offhand was like, I mean,
147:04part of it was that I don't typically take tight ends.
147:07That range was like, I don't even know that I really like those guys, but I have wanted to get a share of Laporta.
147:14So I'm a little, that's why I was a little annoyed about that.
147:18But more it was like, I was pretty focused on, I want to get a running back here.
147:24I don't think Warren Dowdle are going to come back.
147:27As we were waiting for it to come back, I was saying that was a whole tier for me that had been wiped out except Jonathan Brooks.
147:35And he does end up coming all the way back.
147:38But had he not, I'm glad he did. I'm even with Lloyd.
147:42I'm glad that we got both. But had he not.
147:45I'm super happy he did. Yeah. Had he not, we might've been in a situation where we were like a very extreme anchor running back built.
147:53If we had gone Laporta and then Lloyd and Brooks went in the long turn from six to seven, we might've been
147:59going, you know, with the Adunze pick in five, not having gone Bucky in five.
148:04We might've been going wide receiver for the next several rounds.
148:07And then that's a tough build in this format this year.
148:10So yeah, again, I think that gets back to the Bucky.
148:14It's like the best, the best running backs available in that spot.
148:17If Brooks did not make it, it's like Harvey, Pollard, Mason, Chuba, Gainwell, JCM, Dobbins.
148:22That's all of the running backs that went between where we took Downs at 803 and where we get Lemon.
148:28There were no running backs that went between our picking Brooks and Downs.
148:32So those are the running backs we would have had to decide on at seven, eight, if we were taking a running back.
148:39That is tough. Like that's like Harvey is a, I think probably the one that I dislike least.
148:44And I like JCM, but you do not. I think, and then maybe we take like Gainwell, like that's Mason Hubbard, not ton upside.
148:52Pollard's not a ton upside. Dobbins, not a ton upside.
148:55Tough range. So that group I have ranked Harvey, that next tier, after I said that whole other tier was wiped out, Brooks.
149:01My next tier starts with Harvey, Gainwell, Mason, and then JCM.
149:05So I wouldn't say I'm like out on JCM.
149:08He went after all three of those guys, but Pollard and Hubbard were the other two in that range.
149:13I have those guys as kind of like fade profiles.
149:16I would have been fine pulling up JCM. I have him as a target too, just behind those other dudes that often go ahead of them.
149:24Um, but I have Gainwell as a target and Mason.
149:27I might've floated Gainwell if we needed it. Gainwell would have been fine.
149:31Yeah. That's probably, that would have probably been, well, Harvey would have made, but yeah, we might've had, well, I mean, maybe both picks, right?
149:39Like if we, so if we, if, if our team through six is Walker, Lamb, Warren, Waddle, Adunze, Laporta, we, we probably go Harvey and Gainwell, I think.
149:47Yeah. Harvey Gainwell could have made sense there. That's probably what we could have done or Harvey, Joe Corey, Krosky, Merritt or something like that.
149:55And that probably still works. But I, I mean, I, I, I prefer the downs pick.
150:00And I mean, obviously Brooks came back. We were, we were thinking Metcalf.
150:04Like if we could have had the option of Metcalf, because if Brooks goes, maybe Metcalf's the one who falls.
150:10So then we're at seven, 10 and we're like, we're going to take RJ Harvey over Metcalf.
150:15Like I want to take Metcalf in that spot.
150:17Yeah. It would have been tough to take both the running backs there.
150:21And then certainly at nine, 10, you're like, I mean, that's a tough running back range, man.
150:26Like we, we take two receivers at that turn that we really like in lemon and worthy.
150:32And yeah. I mean, anyone who's listened to this hurt us in like mid disagreement, like an hour ago at that spot.
150:38I mean, it's like, yeah, I mean the, because the running backs that were on option, I mean, you floated Mitchell who we ended up getting anyway.
150:46Um, and like white, I mean, I like more than you, but I totally get why you don't.
150:52And I certainly don't have them ranked ahead of Xavier worthy in a vacuum, like, or anywhere particularly close.
150:58Um, and then it's like, yeah, Coleman is like, I think a fun upside swing certainly doesn't help you early season.
151:04I don't think at all. Aaron Jones is like tough.
151:07Um, see rods tough. Yeah. Tough range. I, I, and, and so it gets back to the dunes avers Bucky thing.
151:13Yeah. I mean, this is going to sound, sound like more excuse making.
151:17It is what it is. But, um, a dunes a is one of the players, Sean and I, we, we had a
151:24little bit of like a, we don't do this a lot, but we had a little bit of an email back and forth kind of rehashing.
151:32We had done two mains together on Tuesday night.
151:35It is Thursday now. And so yesterday on Wednesday, we, we did them at the same time.
151:40And it was kind of tough. We didn't record it.
151:43Cause we were doing two mains at the same time.
151:46And it was kind of tough to keep track of.
151:49And there were a couple of tricky spots. And so then we, we kind of debriefed a little bit yesterday.
151:55Cause we have a lot, we're going to do a lot more drafting together.
151:59And a dunes a was one of the guys that we passed in one of the spots.
152:04And then I kind of made a case for, and he gave me a positive kind of commentary back.
152:10That's why when he was on the clock there in the fifth, I was like, he might take a dunes a cause
152:17he was like, no, I didn't, you know, I would have been happy taking a dunes a where we passed on him.
152:23Um, but so then there's, again, this gets back to that thing of like, it's like, I, what was I focused on
152:30when we got on the clock there? Like part of me, it was like, he took quench on Judkins cause he was
152:37leaving us a dunes a and like, I think I just got like stuck on that, you know?
152:42Cause I had talked to him about it yesterday.
152:45I think, and then I did bring up Bucky and Tootin, I know, and we talked through it and anyway, whatever.
152:51But Bucky pick for me too, is one where like, if you had been, if you had been like, I would really
152:58like Bucky here, I would have been in on it.
153:01Cause like the last thing I ever want to do is like, use my exposures as a reason to not get my co-managers, the players that they want.
153:09But that's one where like, I'm on main number 14 and like Bucky, I have a ton of, and I don't have Rome.
153:16And I'm like, well, like if Ben's like leaning Rome, like I'd probably rather break ties towards the guy that I don't already have a crap ton of.
153:25Um, and like, that's probably not like as helpful for the specific team, but it's kind of a similar logic to why
153:31we didn't take Trevion as we had just taken him on the other, on the other main event draft.
153:37Um, and so I probably got a little exposure brain there.
153:40I mean, had you been like, I want Bucky, I definitely would have been like, sure.
153:45I know. And I should have been pounding the table.
153:48Bucky's going early fifth Rome. We got right at a usually to me.
153:52Yeah. Bucky's been going like five Oh two. That would have been a really nice value.
153:57And even tootin who went behind him. But I mean, I, I think Bucky was the clear pick there and it was kind of a miss.
154:05It was definitely a miss. And I think in hindsight, it changes a lot.
154:09Cause I think, I think I would have been a lot more amenable to your Laporta point.
154:14If we had just taken Bucky there, I think it just challenged things.
154:18I was, when we took a dunes, one of the biggest things I was thinking was, well, there's at least two of Bucky and tootin.
154:26Maybe they both come back and then they both went and it was like, Oh, right.
154:31That was dumb. They were both going to go immediately.
154:34And I think I, we, we identified in my opinion correctly that Rome was the last wide receiver of a tier, but
154:40I think what we probably should have just been, it's like, well, he's the last wide receiver of a tier, but he's
154:47not the last pass catcher of a tier. And if, and if he goes, we'll just take a tight end and act
154:54like our tight end two is our wide receiver three.
154:57Um, anyways, I still like to like, I still like the team.
155:00Uh, I do too. If you would like to hear a very smooth sailing draft.
155:05Well, I think this is way more fun than that.
155:08Right. Like this, I think people probably. Yeah. Yeah.
155:11No. Yeah. Sorry to you're, you're doing a good sell there, but I don't even think people should go sign up for the patron and listen to us.
155:19Just be happy the whole time. I think the fact that we had a lot of challenges.
155:24Yeah, they should. The fact that we had a lot of challenges and we discussed all of this and there's a lot
155:31of, wow, should we have, or shouldn't we have and where the actual mistakes are, I think is the valuable stuff.
155:37And I think the listeners probably agree with that, but I don't, I don't think you were saying anything different, but I,
155:44um, it's been a fun one from a content perspective in that case where there's been a lot of nuance to it.
155:50Um, but no, you're right. The other, I do just want to keep emphasizing that we, if, if we sound at all,
155:57like, we don't know what we're doing. We've both done a ton of these.
156:01Uh, I don't really care about that, but people like to kind of suggest that kind of a thing.
156:07I'm very open to just being like, look, dude, there's challenges in drafts and I don't need to act like I'm super confident.
156:14Some of the like grinders love to act like everything is super clear and their ranks are the, are the correct ranks.
156:21And I mean, those guys, some of those guys are really, really good.
156:25I give them their props for sure. But I feel very strongly that this whole entire endeavor is a very uncertainty based
156:31risk based probability based endeavor and being willing to be whatever the word is vulnerable.
156:36I don't know, like open to the fact that like you can make mistakes and not be certain about how every single player should be valued.
156:44That there's a range of outcomes that there's a lot of overlap in those ranges of outcomes that there are skews in
156:50the probability ranges where some guys are skewed toward their ceiling.
156:54Some guys are skewed toward their floor. Some guys are priced more toward their ceiling.
156:58Some guys are priced more toward their floor. It's very dynamic as well as we learn more information and stuff.
157:04I think everything's pretty static now until week one.
157:07We've gotten through the information phase. Preseason's done. Everything's kind of closed, closed book from the teams at this point.
157:13But there was a lot that was changing for weeks and weeks and weeks right up to cut day and where we're at right now.
157:21And I think as the ADP shift and the tiers take hold and all that stuff, you have to be willing to consider these things.
157:28This question of a Dunzee versus Bucky versus Tootin, it's a very interesting one.
157:32If Lloyd was going here, if we knew the Jacobs thing all month and Lloyd was going here all month, I actually
157:39think the profile belongs here, as I said. So it's a little bit of like, yeah, we pulled him way up and it made it an uncomfortable pick.
157:48But maybe we would have been a lot more comfortable with Lloyd in this range like we were with Jonathan Brooks not
157:54that long ago who has now fallen a little bit because there's been some more information about him.
158:00And these things shift and they evolve. And anyway, I think this is a way more interesting – I said this was
158:06a harder draft and I don't necessarily love this draft and it's been like one of the more difficult ones.
158:12I also think talking through it with you, I've learned more as we've worked through this about what I want to do
158:19in my remaining draft than in any other draft I've done.
158:22Way more than what we did on our Patreon one where we just got all the guys we wanted and it was like, oh, this is super fun.
158:31High five, high five, high five, high five. Like this has been a blast to think through.
158:36This is why we do it. I love this stuff.
158:39I enjoy the puzzle of it. That's why we do the stuff we do.
158:43We're nerds for this kind of stuff. So anyway, I've had a blast doing this particular show with you, thinking through it,
158:50even acknowledging some of the tricky stuff with Sean and some of the snipes behind us with the 11 and 12 with the turn.
158:57Hopefully the listeners feel the same way. If they don't, fuck them.
159:01I don't really care. To be honest. If you have an issue.
159:04And I will add the E tag. If you have an issue with that type of content, this is not the right
159:11show for you is the way I would put it.
159:14Anyway. I love that. I love that as a closing note.
159:17I think that was a challenging but very fun draft.
159:20I think we built a really high upside team.
159:23And we are going to very, very likely do at least one more of these on the Patreon channel.
159:29I guess I shouldn't say very, very likely. We're literally registered.
159:32We're registered. We're registered, but it's for the Saturday morning.
159:35Right. We should tell the people. It's for the Saturday morning.
159:39I'm going to post it immediately after we record it.
159:42Okay. So it's going to be the Saturday morning, the September 12th.
159:45After the first two games are played. So ADP is going to shift.
159:49You're not going to, like week one is going to be the next day.
159:53It's not going to help you with your drafts, but you are going to get our responses to everything that happened in
160:00the Seattle Patriots game and everything that happened in the Rams 49ers Australia game, how we think that should affect ADP, how
160:07that shifted up the tiers, how there's going to be a lot of like rest of season vibe to that and how that fits in.
160:14So I think it'll be still be very interesting content.
160:17Definitely. And I'll mention that's going to be a three person.
160:21That's going to be a triumvirate draft. It's going to be myself.
160:24It's going to be Ben. And it's gonna be our friend, Lawrence Bailey.
160:28In some ways, I don't know how you feel.
160:31You draft with Sean all the time and now you're drafting with me.
160:35Like I find it almost easier to draft for three people because the push pull when you're two people is tough.
160:41Cause you obviously like can't ever have a majority vote.
160:44Like either we agree or we don't. And then it's like, you're compromising.
160:48It's like almost kind of nice to have a third person where it's like, no, I'll just state my opinion very forcefully.
160:55And like, if they would like to outvote me two to one, then they outvote me two to one.
161:01And I'm going to be happy with that. So I think it'll be, it'll be fun to get a third person.
161:07I love, I love that. I agree. Yeah, I agree.
161:10Yeah. I, it made me think of the old ship chasing days.
161:14I, it gets tough at more than three as well.
161:17And when we would do the co-manager stuff, sometimes there would be some, some tricky spots, but when it was just ever
161:23like me, Pat and Pete, it was like, yeah, usually it's two of us or one.
161:28And if, if some, and sometimes when there's three, you there's, it's still quiet enough in the room that if somebody really
161:35wants to pound the table for something and the other two are kind of like, yeah, I mean, it's kind of whatever, like that person can still go.
161:43Anything else you want to say? Otherwise I'm good to wrap here.
161:47And, uh, we will see you guys for that one.
161:50Uh, and probably another show next week.
