Dalton has a path to No. 2 role in Atlanta's QB depth chart.

Dalton arrives in Atlanta as No. 3 on a four-man depth chart but has a clear path to becoming No. 2 behind starter Michael Penix Jr. His decision to join the Falcons over the Eagles suggests he sees opportunity to earn the backup role currently held by Tua Tagovailoa. The source notes Dalton's presence gives the Falcons a seasoned veteran to help develop Penix, with more playing experience than Tua.
